The store owners Really Need to hire at least One person to answer phone calls. It is Very Frustrating to MANY people I know who have spent Thousands of dollars at Guitar Center only to be put on hold a Long time ( sometimes so long we just hang up) when we are trying to find out if a product is currently in store but the phone help is almost always ridiculously poor. We Do understand they get so busy they cant answer the phone or if they do answer we are put on hold Way too long. Guitar Center has Great Product And Great in-store staff All The Time but Again the OWNERS Need to hire a Full Time knowledgeable phone reception person.. .. The otherwise Excellent store is Completely Ridiculous without one.

Like others have posted, and looks like nothing has changed, I came into this store with a budget of $5,000 for a set of drums. I played numerous sets, walked in circles for 15 min, walked around the store for another 10 and than back to the drum section for another 10. Not one employee offered to help, not one employee even looked my direction, no one said word one to me. Two guys at the register swapping stories and others milling around helping no one. I watched another set of drum customers do the same thing and they left also. 15 years ago I stepped into a Guitar center and experienced the exact same thing. I gave your chain a second chance and you failed miserably. Ill never step into another from here on out. Spent $6,800 with Sweetwater later the same day.

They had a great special for guitar lessons so we took advantage of it for our grandson who is 8. We bought him a kids toy guitar for Christmas and he loved it. We thought lets see if he is genuinely interested in learning and then we would purchase a real one. Guitar center had one for him to borrow for his lessons and he would practice on his toy one at one. His instructor is Angel.... truly lives up to his name. Great repoire with our grandson, enthusiastic, patient, kind and builds up our grandsons self esteem - GREAT teacher. Two weeks in, we realized we needed to get a real guitar. Found a Jr size one on sale. We are very satisfied with our experiences and look forward to many more.

If you are a musician this is the place for you! They have a huge selection of everything you need to rock! I needed a new part for my bass guitar (I got a little too excited and I had Joan Jett playing a little too loud and I snapped a piece of my bass off!😆😆) The guys in the store had what I needed, and they could have charged me more for a big name brand replacement, but they were really cool and solved my problem for a lot less, and that will make me buy my next $2500 guitar from them! A small act of kindness toward a fellow musician goes a long way sometimes.

Place rocks, no pun intended. Great service tech and repair program. Teddy/freddy is awesome. Really knows his stuff and made my 31 year old strat look like brand new. Another thirty years and giving to my grandson. He can jam on R&B and you should hear him play.

The fellow customers is what made my experience. I talked to an interesting ex cuban military missionary guy for a few hours, Im still processing everything he said. Hes the genuine article! That said though, it is guitar center after all. I saw a Washburn acoustic with a headstock with a huge crack that was glued back and they want full price, or a 4k dollar keyboard that was dropped and the metal framing is bend so some of the keys around the damage area stay down, but its on the floor for full price. Like cmon guys, send it back to the manufacturer for b stock, fix it yourselves, or at the very least give a bigg discount.

This store is the reason why people buy online. My son and I were inside the store for 45 minutes looking at bass guitars. In that time not one single employee bothered to ask if us if we needed any help. In order to hear a bass guitar it needs to be plugged into an amp. I looked for a cable but could not locate one. I asked an employee who was walking by us for a cable and his response was All of the cables must be being used right now. Ill look for one in a few minutes. That was last we heard from that guy. SERIOUSLY. We are in one of the largest chained music stores in the country and you dont have enough cables!?!?!!?!? I didnt even dare ask for a tuner! How in the world do you expect anybody to spend almost $700 on a Fender Jazz bass without being able to hear it? This is the exact reason why I will be giving my business to Sweetwater.Since everybody shops online these days you would think these big chains would go out of their way to give their customers a positive buying experience. Not the case here.I am giving 2 stars because if you do need something the same day you could walk in and get it if it is in stock. They do have a big selection of guitars to choose from, but 75% of them are too high to reach and would require the assistance from an employee to get them for you. If I cant get somebody to give me a cable how the heck am I going to have them get a guitar down from 20 feet above? If I were running this place I would have at least one person dedicated to this area at all times to assist customers. I watched people grabbing guitars off the wall and banging them into the other guitars that are next to them (not on purpose, but accidentally). Irregardless, the guitars are sandwiched together so close that it is going to happen. With that much money invested in inventory one would think that somebody would be in charge of all that merchandise to protect Guitar Centers investment.To sum up our experience today, my son got to play several unplugged, out of tune bass guitars and was underwhelmed by the whole experience. So much for trying to get him more excited about picking out his new bass guitar.

In the store for 40 minutes looking at the top rack of Gibson Les Pauls starting at $2200. Very interested and decided to move on to other parts of the store. Came back, looking at the guitars again, no help and the employees at the checkout area had no one to check out but they sure like their cell phones. I left in disappointment

This is my favorite music store. Everyone there is friendly and are willing to take the time and share their knowledge with you. Mathew recently helped my wife decide on a drum set. He took his time and talked her through everything she needed to know to make a reasonable decision. I have bought a few guitars there and never had any issues. I actually live next to the Guitar Center off of Heritage Trace and drive to this one on Hulen because of the employees. I have been to the one on Heritage Trace several times. Usually no one will greet you or ask if you need help. You have to track them down. The one off of Hulen immediately acknowledge you when you walk in and ask if you need help. I was in there this morning. It was extremely busy as it was Saturday. Mathew and another employee were by themselves and somehow they were taking care of everyone in the store. Bought a new guitar and Matt had me fixed up and out the door. You seldom see customer service like this these days. Great job.

Despite the current circumstances our experience was excellent. They are following guidelines and servicing customers as quickly as possible. We waited outside for a bit. Everyone was pleasant and Denise was exceptional. Im super excited to try my new electric ukele. Plus its a beaut! 🤩

I took my Ampeg SVT bass amp to GC to sell it (too heavy for my old back) and Alyssa was extremely helpful and professional. I got a fair deal and turned around and bought a pedal. I get that they are suffering like most music stores and most of the employees are glazed over, but sometimes you can make a good experience happen. Just communicate, treat people with respect and dont expect too much!

Its hard to give this place money as they wont take it. Two hours trying to buy a les paul standard, not only were all of them really banged up, you had to wait an hour to get help before you could realize ask their stock is trash. Bought the les paul from sweetwater with their exclusive AAA flamed cherry burst top. Never going to guitar center again.

None of the Staff was very helpful. I was looking for a guitar for my daughter. I got the feeling if I didnt know what I was looking for they had no time for me. I also asked about fixing an austic guitar. Gentleman told me almost $200 to fix without looking at it. I will be looking elsewhere to buy my daughter her guitar and fix mine.

I purchased a DJ lighting system online from this GC and it arrived the very next day in Cocoa, FL. I was very unhappy with the bag that came with it and was going to return the system. Chris in customer service went in the warehouse and found me the perfect bag and sent it next day at no additional cost! I buy all my DJ gear from GC and will continue to do so!

Save yourself time, money, and frustration and shop somewhere else! We started off on the wrong foot when we were told my small 6 year old (who was present at the time) that he could learn to play on a Full size or 3/4 size guitar....we didn’t know any better and ordered one off their website. When we took him for lessons (somewhere else) they showed us that it was WAY too big for a child his age to learn on and ended up purchasing a 1/2 size acoustic for him to learn on. Then I decided I wanted a guitar for myself bc I was enjoying learning on his, so I decided (stupidity) to give them another shot and order an acoustic from them online that said it would be ready for pickup SAME day at my local store. I called the store hours later and was told “the website is janky” and “it always says that even when that’s not true”. Ok.... a week later my guitar is ready for pick up, and my husband goes to get it and has all kinds of problems, they insist I ordered two items and must have canceled one, even though I have all my confirmations. Just a mess. And poor customer service all around.

Purchase online if possible. Some of the clerks at the physical store arent the friendliest, and make you feel like youre bothering them. If youre in a hurry and need anything NOW though, they have most everything in stock.

Had lessons left after they reopened. Grandson didn’t want to continue lessons so ask for refund on balance. They claim they can’t refund money due to company policy. I say they want money up front and don’t want to return unused classes, that’s stealing and I won’t buy anything else from this company

Every second of our visit was terrible!!! Not enough staff, waited forever to just get a cable to test a guitar and amp .. finally decided on THE guitar and amp, was told the amp was in stock... Waited again FOREVER for him to find the WRONG amp, he just shrugged, set aside the wrong amp and said oh well.. never gave us a reason or another amp.. continued to ring up a case then the guitar, just to tell us he couldnt sell the guitar to us the guitar until the 18th!!! Why was it hanging on the wall for sale?!? When we said nevermind he shrugged and looked at us like a deer in the headlights!Terrible customer service and severely disorganized! Will never go to this guitar center again! We were ready to drop over a grand and they didnt even care... Sad.

Don’t waste your time going there to have anything serviced. Went in to have my Kirk Hammett Les Paul looked at. I needed get a volume knob fixed, my input jack fixed, have it intonated and possibly some new tuning screws put it.The guitar tech acted like it wasn’t worth his time to even look at the guitar. Granted, he had a bass in front of him and I can understand if you are working in a current project. Maybe offer the customer to leave the guitar and check it out later.Instead, the tech suggested that I go to a different guitar shop and and have them work on it.This Guitar Center 100% lost a repeat customer today.

Went to have a Teflon nut added to a Strat. The tech told me I needed to bring back a preslotted Fender nut. Working from his vague description, I brought one back and of course it was the wrong one. He told me the part was # PQL-5000-00. Later when I was able I looked up the part and realized he was wrong because the PQL-5000-00 is a plain plastic nut (the non-XL version) and does not have the Teflon coating like model # PQL-5010-00 TUSQ XL. Thankfully, I did not order it, so I avoided wasting $15 on yet another part I did not need. I also asked him if he could assist with fret work for a resonator. Rather than set up the resonator for service, he told me to bring back both guitars when I had acquired the nut, further delaying the time it would take for me to get the resonator repaired. He then walked away without so much as saying bye. I cant even get any repair/upgrade work from the tech because he appears both unwilling and unknowledgeable. Thanks for nothing, Guitar Center.

Guitar Center has been on the decline for many years. But at this moment I feel sure they’re doing everything they can to drive themselves out of business. They are overpriced. Their staff are under trained and oftentimes unqualified. And they have absolutely lost their minds with this virus. I’ve rarely seen the local store busy. I’ve NEVER seen it packed. Yet they require you to wear a mask...even if you’re the only customer in the store. They painfully limit the amount of people in the store. (So I guess the masks don’t work). They make you wait outside if they think there’s to many people in the store. I recently had a horrible experience ordering online. Ordered drum heads. All but one showing in stock locally. I went to get them. I was told the online info was wrong, they don’t have them. So I went to the back and found them myself, all but two. They finally figured out they actually did have them all but one. (Like the internet said). However, they couldn’t find one of the ones they were showing in stock. I asked them to let me take what they had. You know, since I paid for those. Couldn’t do that. The order had to be picked up complete. However, I was told they could cancel the order and I could just pay (again) for what they had in stock. (And most of you know, it takes several days for money to be returned to your card. They wanted me to pay for these heads twice). So I canceled the whole ordered. A few days later the one they didn’t have showed up at my door. Even though it was ordered for pick up at the store and then cancelled. I was hoping at this point to never go there again. Then today I needed a stick-on muffle for a kick drum head. Handful of cars in the parking lot. Once again I was told there would be a little bit of a wait before I could come in. I told them they weren’t worth waiting for and I left. Absolutely the worst chain music store I have ever gone to. They rarely have what I need. They only carry low end gear. Ordering and shipping is completely unreliable. Sorry excuse for a large music store. Fort Myers, FL.

Just got back from there. And one star is one to many. They are suppose to be an authorized Gibson repair place. So my $2000.00 Gibson j45 that They sold me is dead. Plug it in and no sound. My other guitars work, must be the pick up, right? Take it there and I’m told I need to stand 2 hours in 90 degree heat with this guitar. I ask, can’t you just give me a ticket and take the guitar inside, maybe call me in a day or two, let me no what’s up. Nope, spent over $2100.00. and the guitar isn’t even 8 months old. I guess once they got your money, to hell with you. Thanks for nothing, I’ll be writing Gibson as well.
