This is literally the best garage in Fort Collins. The classic car I have had been going there for 40 years. SCOTT the manager is a straight shooter, honest. The shop has mechanics that know what theyre doing. They give you a ride when you drop off your car. They are capable of so much, and anything they dont do, Scott has a guy for. Ive gotten advice from them, I wouldnt trust my car with someone else. Im always ready to give them more business. Im honestly sorry that I havent reviewed them yet.

After my car broke down, I was just able to drive it to the nearest garage. Even unannounced they were able to get me a quote by the end of the day with a detailed list of repairs including video footage of what was wrong. I had never been to Gilsdorf and was pleasantly surprised by the service I recieved. I ended up selling my car to a local dealership and Gilsdorf was very patient with me and allowed me to park my car there for a week while I hashed out the details. They never rushed me and I greatly appreciate their time.

Got my windshield replaced and it cost way less than anywhere else I checked. It cost almost exactly what they quoted me, and it was fixed very quickly. They completed a full inspection and gave me details on their recommendations, but didnt push any other work on me when I came to pick up my car. Everyone in the office was extremely friendly! I will definitely go back for any future repairs.

I started having battery issues and I am clueless when it comes to cars. They helped me astronomically and walked me through everything, compared prices, were extremely patient and timely. This is the best service I have ever experienced. I definitely recommend going to them if you are need of any car trouble! They will treat you very well and leave you with all your questions answered.

My Suburban, like me, is getting a bit long in the tooth. The engine was increasingly conking out at traffic lights which was pretty frustrating. Gilsdorf managed to locate and fix the problem even after another issue caused the coil to have a meltdown! Great detective work lads!

I have always been very happy with the work Gilsdorf has done on my car. And usually the customer service is great.This time, however, I was very frustrated by the lax use of masks by the front desk guy and the man who gave me a ride. These days, that is an important part of customer service, and they were not up to par on that.

I would give these guys 10 stars if I could! I had been having a really unpleasant squeaking sound coming from my transmission area and I couldn’t figure out what it was. I took it to a local shop near my house and those dudes were charging me almost $1000 for what they were saying was wrong, it didn’t sound right so I took it this these guys at Gilsdorf Garage, I told them the situation and Scott immediately took the time to go out and check out the sound without charging me anything and immediately determined it was something else. He got a second opinion from one of his mechanics and he confirmed. So I decided to get my car fixed with them, they ended up fixing the annoying squeaky sound, and on top of that they took out a nail that was in my rear driving tire, filled my windshield fluid, got new windshield wipers checked air pressure on tires and filled them, and repaired my two front breaks with news ones as they were almost metal to metal, and all of that for $200 less then what the other ppl were charging me. Not only are they professional but their customer service is impeccable! They picked me up from my house and drove me back to the shop once my car was finished! And not only that but Jim also helped me and guided me through a financing option so I didn’t have to pay the whole amount right away, thus saving me hundreds... these guys are the real deal!! Honest and hard working, will recommend to everyone!

Needed to check with my wife to make sure she could follow me down so called a few hours later to schedule and left a message. Several days later have not received a call back so went elsewhere after looking at other reviews.

Excellent service from start to finish! We received a thorough inspection of our truck and received a detailed description with pictures for needed repairs. Scott and Paige kept us well informed on the progress of our truck. It was ready quickly! I am happy to have found a shop we can always trust.

I give them zero stars but unfortunately that is not an option. A couple of days before Christmas I took my daughters car (BMW) in because they come up on a google search as an Import mechanic WRONG! After a week in the shop they charged me for things that my car doesnt even have! They said my car has an EGR valve and charged me for a flush. Charged hundreds to diagnose and still never gave me a definite answer and wanted to charge me over 3 grand for something that they said could help? They also broke 2 clips off the valve cover and didnt even tell me. Total fraudulent charges, I do not know how they are in business?? When I showed my actual regular mechanic their charges and bill, he was appalled that they are one of the reasons why import mechanics get a bad rap for being super expensive and taking advantage of a woman who isnt repair savvy. Not only did he call them for me and tell them that what they charged was not ethical but they told him that the owner himself would call me and its been weeks and still no call. My regular mechanic was out of town or would have NEVER reached out to this garage. He said they should of given me a COMPLETE REFUND! I strongly urge you to keep scrolling for another mechanic. FAST!!

These folks are exceptional. I just had major work done on my truck and they thoroughly impressed me with their professionalism, communication, fairness, and integrity- from start to finish. Brandon went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with how my truck was running...I really have never been this impressed with a mechanic shop. UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. I 100% DO NOT recommend bringing your vehicle to this garage. Brought my car in for a minor coolant leak and now have a major coolant leak. During my repairs I was also told that my vehicle needed regular maintenance repairs (Timing belt, Serpentine belt, etc). The quote i was given by this garage was nearly $800+ more than any other garage.

The staff is always so friendly. They genuinely care for all their customers. They offered me a ride home and a ride to the shop when I was having my car fixed and was unable to find a ride home. Whenever I have needed to call to schedule my car for a service, they almost always immediately answer the phone. Ive received detailed reports on my car which has helped me plan out when my car will need to go in again for maintenance. Ive had nothing but great experiences with them so far.

First time client, I was looking for a local garage. Very pleased

Ive trusted this shop for a few years now, but after this last experience never again. Brought my vehicle in because the starter went out out. Went in, was given a quote and agreed to the service (which was quite a bit higher than other places, but I had confidence in Gilsdorf). Vehicle is ready to pickup, however Im informed there are things wrong with my car, as it is riding really rough and misfiring. For another $99 they can diagnose it (Ive already paid for a diagnostic, why pay for a second?). I kindly decline as I am a broke grad student, and my car was perfectly fine minus the starter. I take possession of my vehicle and am in shock - I turn it over and the car just shakes uncontrollably. Worried, I ask a few friends to take a look. Upon inspection numerous fuses were removed and a spark plug air hose had been disconnected. What? Not one to leave reviews, but this was ridiculous. Purposefully putting an individuals car in that condition to gain profit is repulsive.

Amazing experience here! I was looking at a car on Craigslist and it happened to be a few blocks from this garage. I called first, but I know it was last minute and by the time I got there it would be like 4:45pm on a Thursday....what a horrible customer right?! They seemed busy over the phone and were very honest. Told me I could make an appointment for Monday no problem. After a little begging, he (Colin) was so caring and curious about what I was possibly getting myself into with this car. I could tell he genuinely wanted to help me...he said if I swung it by he couldnt in right mind turn me away. When I got there, another gentlemen (Brandon) was the one who helped me. He was amazing! Went through everything. Got done on the ground, looked at it all. Gave me his honest opinion. What is the most important thing when it comes your mechanic? I know what mine is....trustworthiness! I felt it from start to finish. GO HERE!

The absolute best service experience in town! I originally came in with my 86 IROC-Z because I heard their manager (Brandon) had built one and might be able to help me out with mine. Theyve done a great job handling my fun car, so Ive come in with our Jeep and Subaru. The Jeep (my wifes car) blew a power steering line around 6 pm one evening. We dropped off that night, and it was done ready to roll for a reasonable amount of money by 5 pm the following day! I dropped my Subaru off for normal maintenance when we picked up the Jeep and I experienced the same level of efficiency and professionalism. They have a shuttle service, which has helped me out a few times as well. Both Brandon and Colin are honest and work great as a team. This is the only shop I recommend to my friends in the area!

Weve been loyal customers for 8 years now. Every time we go in they get done what we ask and really do a great job. They fixed the dealership mess ups we had prior to coming. They also were great about honoring the warranty when we had a pair of bad brakes. Very personable and great guys. Id recommend them to anyone and everyone. We will be lifelong customers for sure.

Sadly, after having to bring my vehicle back 3-4 times, spending $1100+, my vehicle still has issues, and theyd quoted me another $1500 to fix these issues that theyd missed every other time it was in their shop.Honestly I wouldve been happy to pay every penny of these costs, had it not been for the month long+ rigmarole that came from dealing with these folks. Ill be taking my vehicle elsewhere to have more experienced mechanics complete these repairs, If only even to guarantee that the repairs are done correctly and accurately. Being a repair technician myself for cellphones/computers/electronics, based on my experience here its clear that Gilsdorf isnt quite as thorough as they need to be when working on something as in depth and advanced as motor vehicles. For a Master Tech to have missed nearly terminal issues, with a simple 2001 ford escape, makes me think he needs to hone his skills a bit more before wearing the title of Master Tech Also Im not confidant that these issues werent fabricated by the Master Tech himself, Ill be having an investigative repair team looking into the situation to determine whether or not these repairs were existing before or after their initial repair was complete. I highly suggest that anyone attempting to use these folks for repair services, seriously consider otherwise.

This used to be a 5 star review. Before a change in ownership, I had universally pleasant experiences with Gilsdorf and took my vehicles there for several repairs and services, from simple fluid changes and inspections to much more involved repairs. I never had to take a vehicle back, and although prices are a little higher than others in town, I felt confident with their work and the safety of my vehicles after service there.That has all changed. I recently took my truck in to have a clutch issue checked out. The issue turned out to not be serious and Scott Melbye (owner) said the clutch was in good shape but probably nearing the end of its life, but I took his advice for a full clutch replacement. After picking my truck up, I realized there was a problem with the starter. I took it back in as soon as I could, Scott acknowledged the starter had been reinstalled incorrectly, and fixed the issue. A week later, the slave cylinder on my clutch failed, stranding my family as we were travelling for Christmas. I left the truck at the closest dealership (no shops were open) and made arrangements to continue our trip. Upon contacting Gilsdorf the next business day, two things stood out: 1.) There was zero empathy for the situation I was in and 2.) they immediately tried to distance themselves from the problem. They made arrangements for my truck to be towed to a NAPA shop (the last thoughtful action they took) so the warranty could be honored if necessary. When the repair was completed, parts were not covered under warranty because they were not part of the original clutch work – I understand that part as a technicality, but the slave cylinder is an integral part of the clutch system and is removed, inspected, and reinstalled during the service process. However, Scott refused to acknowledge any possibility of responsibility for the failure after replacing the rest of the clutch.So to recap, my clutch was replaced, the starter was installed incorrectly and had to be fixed, and then the slave cylinder (no prior issues, inspected and OKed by Scott) failed after having been removed and reinstalled. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. Now I’ll always have a little fear in the back of my brain that some other mistake is going to suddenly appear and strand me again. Because this happened during Christmas week, far from home, I was stuck with the hassle of an extra night in a hotel, asking other family to make two 14-hour round trips to rescue my family for Christmas and then return us to the truck afterward, and a lot of time on the phone with auto repair shops during a family holiday. I know this isn’t Gilsdorf’s responsibility, but I don’t recall hearing once, “We’re sorry this happened,” from anyone, just a lot of deflection. Not a shred of customer service, no good faith “bring it back in and we’ll check over everything again,” nothing.I now have no confidence in Gilsdorf Garage and will advise everyone I know to avoid them.

We were passing through Fort Collins on our way to WA when I noticed I had a coolant leak on our gx470. We came early and they just had a cancellation... I was willing to pay any price as we were on a tight schedule. They were quick, they made a through check under pressure and only noticed it was a bad radiator cap... We were out there fast and cheap and felt they were very honest. I wish I had a shop like that back home!

Don’t go here. They seem nice and honest but screw your over. Took my car in and had to replace the leaf springs, they put them on wrong and I’m now having to go somewhere else to have it fixed, costing me more. Was told they over charged for labor and the time it was suppose to take.

Routine pre-trip inspection this time. Everything was top drawer--as it has been for the past 23 years Ive been bringing my vehicles here.

For an overpriced shop that pays a front desk employee, this shop has horrible customer service. Had a job done, required parts to be ordered, so I took my vehicle until the parts came in. No one ever calls me, I call the shop a couple days after the parts were supposed to come in, they say yeah theyre here I bring my vehicle back, the shop takes longer than they told me it would to complete the job, and doesnt call me when theyre done. Horrible service, overpriced work. The next day the system fails and the shop tells me they need another $150 too figure it out. You cant fix incompetence, which is what you get at Gilsdorf Garage.

Scott the mechanic had really great communication with me through the whole time my car was there, all my questions were answered. For being a foreign car, the price was very reasonable and it was overall a pleasant experience!

Negligence abounds inside this shop. The dude behind the counter has no idea what customer service is; and he talks too much. They dont have a garage supervisor, lacks quality control, and unable to keep mechanics.

After my 08 Tribeca popped what seemed to be an exhaust leak, I managed to hobble it over to Gilsdorf. Im from WAY out of town - Portland, Maine. The folks were extremely polite and managed to fit my vehicle in for diagnostics early the next morning. They immediately called when the diagnostics were complete and informed me that the EGR valve was probably stuck open and should be replaced. I was happy with the extremely quick diagnosis and approved the work. I had an overall fantastic experience with the shop. The quick turnaround and $100 savings over the dealership was also nice. Im a big supporter of local, small business. I worked for dealership chains in New England for 10 years and I know the automotive business (sales and service) like the back of my hand, so I know all of the tricks. I highly recommend these folks. Theyll treat you right and perform the work needed at quite the competitive rate. They are a no fluff It is what it is and this is what it will cost place. Its everything youd expect from an established, confident in-town business.

Good diagnostic price, but bad work. Ended up having one of the four problems I was told I had. I was quoted 3000 for parts and labor. Ended up fixing it myself for about 300. I enjoyed my experience up until it was gonna cost me a new car to fix it.

Of course it turned out I needed the thing I had said was wrong in the first place, which upped my price beyond my initial quote. At that point they had already got my car and dropped me off at school so I just agreed to pay the extra and go ahead. Shortly thereafter, they wanted to add extra necessary services related to the job that they had not mentioned before.I got fed up and started digging. Turns out these guys charge ~$108/hour labor, which sounds more like specialty shop rates to me...maybe theyre worth it but based on their knowledge I sort of doubt it. They over charge the time for the job (my job should have taken 2.2 -2.3 hours, but they charged 2.5 hours). I told them I was not particularly impressed, and they manged to find a student discount for me, which brought my costs down to something approaching reasonable. As far as I can tell, they did a fine job, but I wont be going back.

I was so impressed with the team at Gilsdorf - we brought my sons car in after having 4 other garages attempt to figure out the problem. Not only did they determine the problem but they came up with a creative solution for fixing it as an alternative to having to purchase the main computer control. To start off I wish I could give them 0 stars. The customer service was absolutely garbage, I had to call them to get an update on my car. When I dropped it off they told me the mechanic would drive it around for an hour and try and find the problem. After 2 and a half days of having my car I call them again so I can pick it up. They didnt figure anything out either, and now my cars engine grinds when I try and start it, which didnt happen before I took it in. Terrible place to take your car now, It should be called Gilsdorf Garbage from now on.
