Everything is homemade and delicious!! Atmosphere is what you want in an old time ice cream parlor - the sweet smell of fresh waffle cones, great ice cream made on-site, music and uniforms to match the era! With fall/winter coming up, they have homemade hot chocolate and espresso drinks with steamed ice cream that I look forward to trying! Their pies, brownies and other baked goods are down right addicting!!
Just our lovely little neighborhood ice cream parlor. Nice variety of traditional ice cream flavors, waffle cones, sundaes, and traditional items like banana splits, a la mode, etc.Brown Cow has fast and friendly service and is well-staffed but plan for a 5-15 minute wait during peak hours- evenings on nice/warm days. While you wait you’ll get to enjoy the nice ambiance of the vintage ice cream parlor decor and classic jazz type music. It’s a whole vibe in there!
ICE CREAM! Whats not to love?! Love all the flavors Ive tried and its really hard to have a favorite when they introduce seasonal ones - its like being the indecisive kids that claims each one is my favorite, because its that hard to pick! Never a let down here, great service and ice cream 😋
What an excellent establishment. clean environment, professional staff, delicious treats! They make their own ice cream and their pies are amazing! The owner is one of the nicest and hardest working people youll ever meet. Oh, and theyre involved in charities and scholarships. Can I give 6 stars? 6 stars out of 5, there, done.
Brown Cow is one of those hometown treasures that you hope stays forever. They make their own ice cream in house and it is rich and delicious. Sometimes theres a line (a testament to their popularity) but the service is always friendly. If youre in a hurry, grab a pint or two from the cooler to scoop at home.
Handmade ice cream tastes better shared. The Brown Cow Ice Cream Shop has Scoops, shakes, sundaes, malts, sandwiches and cakes are available. Staff here is great, friendly and always with a welcome smile. They have a contactless payment system so No Cash. Outdoor seating on street, or benches at the entrance. We are looking forward to filling up our bingo card. The Lemon Blueberry and Dirt cup were the raving favorites.
Me and my family love Brown Cow! The ice cream is delicious and they provide friendly customer service. Everyone should be able to experience the taste of Brown Cow. Some of our favorite things about Brown Cow are their Fathers Day ice cream and waffles. We also enjoy coming here for Christmas and paying Santa a visit.
Stopped by 8-8-21 at around 7:30pm. 1st time there. There was no one ahead of me...my order was taken, and the people in the backs was also by another employee...I ordered something simple...My order left to the side and the people behind me got their order first.....employees seemed lost and all over the place last night. Not a very good 1st impression. Great ice cream though but you have to work on who is in charge of what....
Best place in the area for ice cream! Everything is delicious here! Make sure to pick up a pie as well! :)
Local gourmet ice cream. Rich creamy and delicious. If youre in Forest Park this is a place to go for ice cream.
Great down to Earth, home town style ice cream shop. Its their own ice cream too! Great flavors and wondefful service!
Ive been going for years and I have loved going every single time.
There are so many great things to say abt The Brown Cow & their staff! Today, family from out of town were treated to TBC treats! Great service, great product & great for our neighborhood! Thanks, Ms. Connie & staff!
It was absolutely wonderful. Staff was great and I dont have to say how good their ice cream is because it speaks for itself.
Awesome ice cream and just discover the lemon ice. The decor kept the original movie theater. So cool! This place is a jem. Grab some Junction diner or one of the other places on Madison Ave before and your kids will be spoiled!
Brown Cow is a wonderfully quaint ice cream parlor and pop shop. They have some delicious house made ice cream recipes. Their most popular flavor by far is the Chocolate Peanut Butter, which is definitely for a good reason. It has chunks of mini peanut butter cups and ribbons of peanut butter running through a smooth chocolatey ice cream. And if that isnt rich enough for you, add on their thick hot fudge. If youre dining in, theyll put it in a classic ice cream cup.Their namesake sundae the Brown Cow Sundae is a perfect date night treat and is definitely large enough for two...or three! They also have house made soda pop adding even more authenticity to the early 1900s atmosphere. They offer to use them to make floats if you want to try both their ice cream and their soda.I always forget they have ice cream sandwiches, ice cream pie, and ice cream cakes too!
This place is overrated! If you want a better sundae, pie or cookie go to Twisted Cookie. If you want better ice cream go to Peterson’s. Will never understand why this place is so popular.
A very nice shop. Friendly staff. Excellent waffle cone. I will go back for sure.
The giant chocolate chip ice cream sandwich was delicious 😋 😊
Really cool! Ice cream, live music and it has such a laid back atmosphere.
Ice cream good, but now requiring masks. No indoor seating.
I was surprised they kept asking customers to wear a mask. Covid is over and all know the truth now. Stop forcing us to wear a mask!!
Fresh ice cream, fresh soda, fresh waffle cones, definitely a popular place for obvious reason. Come on a hot day!
Definitely gets crowded during the summer, but love the outdoor tables! They also have this amazing gift option thats been sent to me through GrubHub of a DIY sundae kit, if youre looking for a fun gift to give to someone to support a local business.
Great ice cream. Needs more seating and chairs. Should be at least 4 chairs per table.
Love it! 🤩Will be going back again soon 😃
I love Brown Cow ice cream. It is delicious!
Very clean. Professional staff. Tasty ice cream. Quick service.
This place definitely deserves the attention amongst ice cream parlors. The staff was courteous and speedy. The décor is 1930s vintage looking, but not outdated. Its fitting for sure. The ice cream and the presentation of it suits this place. The ice cream itself is served on classic glass bowls and long silver spoons; thats a rarity in this day an age with everything being plastic and disposable. And the ice cream itself is fantastic. Thats something you have to try it for yourself. You really cant go wrong with any of the specialty sundaes.
Hands down the best strawberry ice cream I’ve had so far! Very friendly staff too 👍
Connie and her team always make for an outstanding experience. There are so many great things to say about The Brown Cow, but it comes down to the ice cream, which is fantastic, especially with a slice of pie! I love the classic vanilla and my kids cant get enough of the vanilla cake batter. The hot cocoa, milkshakes, sundaes and ice cream cakes are all amazing. They also host really fun events for the holidays, including a pumpkin decorating contest, Sundaes with Santa, and day after Thanksgiving waffle bar. They also are super involved in their community and alwaysing willing to give to local charities and events!
Tasted great!! The mint flavor is very nice
1st time visiting, I most definitely will return
Love the ice cream. Watch out for the scoop size
This was the best butterpeacan icecream Ive ever had
We love Brown Cow! We moved away from Forest Park 10+ years ago, and its still out favorite ice cream shop, and well worth the 20 minute drive!
This place has phenomenal homemade ice cream. Pre - Covid its a 5 or higher as they have options of tiny pies you can get heated & served w/ ice cream on top, sundaes, cones, all sorts of things. You pay for what you get.During Covid theyre doing window service w/ outdoor tables which (reasonably) has greatly limited their menu. You can still get sundaes but lose out on their unique experience - as you do w/every place during the pandemic. Its still worth the trip.
I ordered the vanilla ice cream brownie sundae. The vanilla with fudge was good. Couldnt really taste any flavor in the brownie at the bottom. It was just... mediocre. It cost $6.99 and is very small. Was an ok experience, but probably wont go back. Cold Stone Creamery is where its at.
This place is brown cow stunning! The staff here is always fantastic. Supper friendly, helpful and happy to explain anything to you. Their icecream variety is very wide so you will be hard pressed not to find something you like. They even have some vegan flavors. The place itself bus beautiful and retro. You definitely feel like youre stepping back in time into the 50s with their uniforms and the interior decor and architecture. Simply a delightful experience to go with your friends, family or even a date. Will be back for sure to try those fresh seasonal pies. Which I am sure will pair greatly with their organic and rich flavored icecream.
We love some brown cow ice cream at my house❤️❤️
Awesome hospitality and nice owner! Family owned and ran. Coffee was amazing and burrito was great with every bite that bacon was heaven! Flavor which is hard to get in this city.
Brown Cow is as wonderful as I remember! Im so glad theyre still in business!
Literally the best. Just had a brownie sundae and an apple pie sundae. If you are ever within 50 miles of the place, just go and get some ice cream. You will never be disappointed.
Great ice cream— I love the chocolate malt. One thing though...last time i went I was unable drink my malt using one of those paper straws. Not only could i not suck anything up through the straw, the straw became soggy and collapsed after approximately two minutes of use. So I just had to eat it with a spoon. Maybe you guys could consider other plastic straw alternatives. Thanks!
This place is so awesome, youre doing yourself a disservice NOT going! Theres shakes, cones, pie, sundaes... list goes on + on. In short, dont skip, RUN to order!
Very good ice cream
Delicious ice cream and excellent service
Brown cow is the neighborhood ice cream parlor. I havent had better ice cream. Im trying to do my part to keep revenue flowing during quarantine but I cant do it by myself. Im up 15 lbs people so please help me keep their doors open. Put on a mask and go over to the walk up window. Order a few pints to go. We all have to do our part.
Happy happy ice cream cow!
Great chocolate ice cream 🤩
Friendly staff and great ice cream.
Decent ice cream. Never order for delivery, they cancelled my last two orders 40 minutes later. They close randomly without notice sometimes.
Great ice cream parlor!
They have a fantastic selection of ice creams, cakes, novelties, and more! Always friendly staff and a cool atmosphere. If you go with friends try The Trough Challenge!
Very nice people home made ice cream. Its outdoor at the moment. Try them out@
Love this place. Love the old timey feel and the authenticity of it all. Homemade cones, or already died in chocolate and sprinkles in house. My wife has a sundae and the presentation was great! She was so excited to eat it and it was absolutely delicious! They do parties for kids and have a great party room area in the back. They even team up with local businesses like a local escape room to offer unique packages that would really make a birthday standout. Highly recommended!
We have been going to the Brown Cow since it opened. The ice cream is made on site, as are the waffle cones which come plain or dipped in chocolate, nuts or sprinkles. The Brown Cow also sells delicious baked goods, frozen hot chocolate and hot coffee. The ice cream scoops come in 3 sizes, as do the all of the specialty sundaes, malts, and shakes. The Brown Cow also has great vegan sorbets, and assorted specialties such as ice cream sandwiches, cakes and mini-pies. My son loves the banana splits. He and a friend of his came within tablespoons of finishing the Trough: 21 scoops of ice cream with three toppings served in a metal trough. Finish the Trough and win a Brown Cow T-shirt. Eat in, eat on the outside benches, or eat as you peruse the shops on Madison Street. Theres something for everyone at Brown Cow.
Fantastic ice cream place! It used to be an old movie theater back in the day. The owner is so sweet and they have the best flavors! I LOVE the smell of the fresh waffle cones when you walk in. The cookies and cream is my favorite even though I know they have more exotic options! One of my favorite stops in Forest Park!
WARNING ITS THE BEST ICE CREAM PLACE EVER!!everything in the brown cow is to die for... from the coffee to the ice cream I’d go there everyday but I’d get fat haha you should definitely go there.~FoodCriticFP
Love this ice cream parlor, due to COVID-19 I am missing the homemade waffle cones. The ice cream still taste good though...try cow tippin if you go!!
Exactly what I needed to feed my pregnancy craving!! Their milkshakes are amazing. Thank you for being open for pick up during this crisis and take care of yourselves! 😋😋
Grand re-opening was great
I go to this place every month or so, its great made in house ice cream with great flavors. The service is excellent and theres always customers even during the cold weather. My favorites are pistachio and black cherry. They have some dairy-free options. Totally recommend it!
This time around What horrible experience. Had questions called the number provided!, No answer.!!! When Ordered on line, the brown Cow does not have an option, where you can pick your pickup time. Which should be an option for a paid order. When I order, I was 25 minutes away, they gave me a pickup time of 10 minutes after I placed the order. No bueno. When I pickup, the sundae and ice cream were melted. If a paid was pickup at the requested time, why wasnt the order placed in a freezer. Btw, I had to wait for the milkshake. I asked about nuts and cherry, they said they run out of them, but yet paid full price.
Always fantastic.
An old time ice cream parlor with up to date flavors, plus the classics. The place has an old time feel and charm. The service is great, everyone there is pleasant and has a smile on their faces that appears to be genuine. The night I went, they had music. First just a guy playing the piano, them a guitarist joined him. They were both pretty good, it added just another nostalgic touch to the place. I really enjoyed my visit there, and I am looking forward to returning.
Very good ice cream. Prices are a bit on the high side.
The Giant chocolate chip ice cream sandwich is wonderful!! It was my first order, definitely wont be my last. Highly recommended!!
Our family has been coming to this awesome hand made ice cream place for 20 years or so. It used to be a cinema years before. Nostalgic place for sure. Stop in!
Always love the ice cream here. One of the only places left to get Black Cherry ice cream anymore. Every flavor is handmade by them. Love them.
One of our favorite places in the area. Great flavors, great atmosphere, yummy treats! Now if they add no sugar ice cream, Id be in heaven.
Many different ice cream flavors and tasty! Great fast service ! Yummy ice cream!
Adorable shop with delectable treats
I love The Brown Cow!! They have soy flavors and soy whip (whenever they are making the ice cream cakes they have the soy whip). Staff is always very friendly and super accommodating. They do custom cakes too! Creative sundaes, baked goods, fresh made waffle cones....yum
Seriously one of thee best ice cream shops around. Totally worth visiting if you like authentic homemade ice cream. I personally love their cookies and cream. One of the best Ive ever tasted. Plus they are open late in the summer. Highly recommend giving them a taste!
Can you rate this 1 star please
Love this place
Brown Cow gives you that vintage neighborhood ice cream Shoppe. The workers are always pleasant and you can see homemade waffle cones being made right in front of you. They use the old school glasses for shakes and sundaes if you dine in. Their social media has a family feel to it and I’ve ran in a couple of times to take advantage of specials and try new item. I love a malted shake of vanilla cupcake and cookies and cream. I always recommend this place to people in the area.
Love the mom and pop shop parlor feel. Excited they opened up the to go window for curbside, and contactless pickup!
Dont waste your time going to or ordering from Brown Cow during this Pandemic. Everything prepackaged, Flavors very Limited and Sundaes contain minimal toppings. Cold/Not Hot Fudge and only whip. Waste of $$. Very Disappointed!
