Please, no more FOX NEWS😒Service fine. Thank you for snacks while waiting.
I know Jake Sweeney Kia Service of old, having brought our Kia there years ago. I recalled that the service experience I had was subpar then, though I couldnt today put my finger on why. It was enough that we hadnt returned there in years. Fortunately, I had a recall repair that needed to be done on the vehicle, so I was able to get a stark reminder why I never went back, and why I never want to do so again.I had called about the recall weeks ago, and was informed at that time that I would receive a phone call just as soon as the parts came in. Fast forward to weeks later. I called back, and asked if the parts had come in. As I suspected, they had already been. But, I could forgive that, maybe just an oversight. The night before my appointment, I brought the vehicle in to drop it off. The drop off slot is nothing more than an oversized cut out in the overhead door of the service bays, in which you are expected to toss in your service envelope and key. Notwithstanding that there was a pool of water on the floor where the envelope gets tossed in, I could easily have reached in with a coat hanger or other instrument and removed the envelope once inserted; and so could anyone else, I suspect, that had a mind to do so. Way to think ahead about the security of the vehicles on your lot, gang!!The next day, I called in the morning to make sure that they had gotten the key. I was told that they had, and the service tech was already working on the issue. I asked if I could please receive a phone call as soon as it was done, and I was given confirmation that this would be so.Hours passed, no word. As it was getting later in the afternoon, I decided to call. Each time, the call was sent to voice mail. I called back and asked to have service paged. Did that do the trick? Nope, sent to voice mail again. I left a voice mail anyway. For what its worth, very little at this point I should say, the voice mail call I left earlier was not returned..I then decided to drive into the service department, suspecting as I did that the car had already been done well prior. Right in line with expectations, the key and invoice were all there, ready to go.Its worth mentioning here that the service tech mentioned that there were rust holes on the frame that needed to be watched. I asked him, is this on the rear subframe, to which he replied in the affirmative. I found that to be quite a revelation, since I literally had the subframe replaced on that vehicle a month earlier. That was the final straw for me. We got the car, and got the hell out of there. I would sooner walk into a burning building as return to that place. Still, if theres any value to be found in the visit, its the Oh yes, THATS why we never went back moment on the drive home.
