My daughters transmission went out on her Jeep Patriot Latitude after doing some research and looking at reviews we decided to have Cottmans look at it to confirm that it was in fact the transmission. The man who answered the phone stated that we needed to come sign a document to have it towed from the other shop it was at 1 mile away. We did and did not hear back for days, my daughters calls and they lost the paperwork and never went and got the Jeep. The owners son quickly found the paperwork and stated they would go get the car. The son called and confirmed the bad transmission and offered the options carefully explaining each one, we made our choice and paid almost $5,000..ok. My daughter calls for a status the day they said it would be ready and the son stated they were running their final checks and it would be ready in the morning. My daughter goes to pick up the Jeep the next day (after they call her and after she pays the remaining amount) and every brake light is on along with the 4 wheel drive light, mind you they said NOTHING to her or myself. I call up there and they 1st state the Jeep came that way, after I tell them it did not they blamed the previous shop. We went back and forth as they were making excuses. I have NEVER had a shop not communicate when they notice lights on in the car especially brake lights and I have had plenty of clunkers in my younger years. After 30 minutes of arguing on the phone with the son I gave up after hearing the father make rude comments in the background. They offered NO solution or apology. We get the car home and the whole plastic guard thing that keeps water from under the car is in the back of the Jeep so we had to have that put back on, along with the sensor issues and brake issue which other shops eluded that could have been caused by improper towing along with other reasons. I wish we would have gotten the positive experience that others did............ Be Careful!!

Call Cottman if you are looking for HONEST, Knowledgeable and Fair! I just had my transmission rebuilt by them and some other drive train work. They were extremely thorough and up front about everything. Robby went over and above for me by keeping me up to date on the work progress and also finding me the best prices for the parts I needed! He is very knowledgeable and respectful when it came to dealing with my automotive needs. Very diligent on keeping the work moving to get my vehicle completed for me. They got the Transmission work done ahead of schedule. The truck runs great. I did not hesitate to tow my large enclosed trailer again. They have a great transmission builder who took care of the re-build. The shop manager was great. He answered my questions and provided a quote pretty quick. I was impressed with the shop and I dont worry about transmission issues now.

The shop did a good job communicating and looking into my transmission issue. When I called I was able to talk to knowledgeable people that understand transmission issues. Cottman Transmission is the place to go for all of your car needs. The Cottman crew is exceptional to work with! I have been taking my 1971 Nova to them for the past year and all of the work they put in for me has been way beyond my expectation. They have done for me engine work, transmission work (converting from 3 speed to a 4 speed), Suspension work ( new springs, shocks), brake conversion, and a rear diff change from 3.08 to 3.55 posi. and I couldnt be anymore happy how it turned out. This shop played guardian angel for me! Ive never had such good care from any auto service facility. They wanted to make sure I was safe and that i would make it home as I was hundreds of miles away. Andrew (manager) and Greg (mechanic) saved us big time!! We live in Northern Michigan and have been making several trips down state to pick our household goods. We have been loading our truck and trailer to the max which puts a lot of strain on our 2004 Chevy Avalanche 277,000 miles. This last trip to Flint we noticed power door locks cycling on and off automatically and RPMs would drop for about a second and thenrecover. I took the truck the local Chevy dealership and because it didnt have a fault code or check engine light they couldnt do much about it. I assumed the way it was acting it may have something to do with the transmission so I went down the road to Cottman and talked with Andrew. Knowing my situation (and it being on Saturday)Andrew got me in right away and Greg was able to tackle what the dealership couldnt/wouldnt do. Within an hour Greg had troubleshot the problem to a faulty ground wire on my engine. He fixed the wire connection and got us back on the road to complete our trip back up north. I spent 20 years in Air Force and have traveled aroundthe world and this is by far the best customer service I have ran into. I had my car at 2 shops previously to coming to Cottman Transmission. They were my third shop that I went to for the same problem and were recommended by a friend. ( the other shops were willing to charge me money but not able to provide a complete or correct repair). The manager Andrew was very personable and genuine. They were very willing to take me out an introduce me to the technician Greg who was repairing my vehicle and give me a complete description and proof as to what and why the repairs were necessary. I know absolutely nothing about cars and feel like I have been taken advantage of in the past by other repair facilities. They treated me with respect and professionalism. I will be back in the future for any car repair I need! Thank you Cottman for fixing my car when the other local shops couldnt. I now feel safe with my kids in my car!

I was told the towing was free with repair. Then they charged me $100 stating it wasnt a major repair. I have towing on my warrantee but did go through them as Rob at Cottman told me it was free and now I am out $100. Took them 5 days to fix it and then they couldnt fix the air conditioning so I have to go somewhere else for that

The engine in my Dodge Ram 2004 needed to be replaced. Cottman found one and installed at reasonable price and in a very professional manner. Very happy with the service I received.

I recently had work done on my 2010 explorer. They did an amazing job getting it done quickly, as well as being honest about not wanting to put a part on the car that didn’t look up to par. I had a ticking sound coming from my engine so I brought my car to Cottman Transmission not only did they diagnose the problem but they didnt charge me a fee like every repair place. They took care of everything even making sure I had transportation when the repair took longer than expected I highly recommend them to anyone needing work done on their vehicle. Very pleased

Cottman recently replaced the clutch on my Pontiac. I called them on a Thursday morning and they came out that day and towed my car to their shop. I received a call later that afternoon with a diagnosis and reasonable repair cost. They fixed it during the day on Friday and I was back on the road Friday afternoon. They also contacted me on Monday to make sure I was satisfied with the repair. No one like shelling out money for repairs, but it does help when you receive good service at a fair price.

Andrew was a nice guy, my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox needed repair and they got it done with my warranty within no time ! Even though they were not able to fix my catalytic converter I was pleased with the engine work thanks Gentlemen ❤️❤️❤️

Rob, the owner, is first rate. He has owned this place for 20 years and been in the business for 34 years. He knows transmissions. I first called the dealer and the quote I got for my Transmission service was $399, typical dealer price. Als price was less than half. But more importantly I feel he gave it a personal touch of somebody who cared. It was the first time Ive used Cottman Transmission and I will be sure to use him whenever I have a Transmission problem. 5 stars for sure.

In from out of town and I experienced a leak on an already repaired brake line from another shop. Cottman found a loose break line connection and tighten up the flare. The repair was minor so there was no charge. This is a stand-up shop and will recommend it to all my local family and friends!

Took my car in when it felt as if the transmission was “kicking” or slipping. Thought I needed a brand new one but turns out it was just coils and spark plugs that needed to be replaced. They resolved a problem I had for about a year, with a much lower price than expected. Andrew, the guy in the office, was very friendly and offered good advice. Fixed the problem in the car and it feels like brand new, runs great. Definitely recommend for others.

How many times have you been able to say that you thoroughly enjoyed a transaction involving an expensive auto repair? Well I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Cottman Transmissions, they did a great job of rebuilding my cars transmission ( purrs like a kitten now!) for a very reasonable price (about $1000 under the dealers estimate) and I just really liked the people there! They are the best!

I had an issue with a check engine light and initially went to a different auto repair shop in Flint. They were able to scan the system and identify a problem with the transmission, but could not tell me more than that. They told me that I needed to find a transmission shop to get my problem fixed. They also made a comment that implied that they werent too familiar with working on Mazda cars.I ended up at Cottman Transmission thanks to a referral from another auto repair shop in Flint. I couldnt be any happier with the outcome. Within a day, they were able to diagnose the problem, fix it, and get me back on the road. And they did this without breaking the bank. It ended up being only a sensor that needed to be replaced, but they were able to check all the wiring that connected to that sensor to make sure I wouldnt have any additional issues down the road. They only charged me for the initial diagnostic workup and the replaced part, not for any subsequent labor or time spent testing the electrical wiring, etc.Overall- I received knowledgable and honest service from Cottman Transmission at a very fair price. I will definitely return to Cottman if I have any transmission issues in the future.

I left my car there for a transmission reconstruction (what they recommended) for my nissan sentra 2013, they did it for 4500 dlls. The new transmission cost around 6500dlls. They offer a warranty of 1 year, that is very well calculated. The car started working not well close to the year, when I drop the car for the warranty they claimed that is was no longer valid when it was. Now I have a car with a completely destroyed transmission and they claim that is just an op code that they cant read. Poor service, dont go there.

I feel Cottmans went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met. My transmission randomly went out one day on my way home from work. When I called them I had a trip planned for that up coming weekend. They told me to bring it in and they would have me set to go. They did, and they sent a tow truck and no additional cost to pick up my truck. And for over a thousand dollars less than other quotes I found! Took my 1974 Monte Carlo in after having carburetor trouble and them telling me they offer free diagnostic after a couple hrs of not hearing from them I called and they told me they could no longer work on the car for free. they wanted $175 to continue. so after going back and forth arguing with them and being accused of wanting free work I picked up my car only to have my car a lot worse off..it was no longer drivable..I had valve rattle, timing adjusted incorrectly, and distributor wires cut and exposed without being taped or secured properly. After taking pictures and showing them the cut exsposed wires they denied doing it. they then offered putting on my own carburetor for free if I decided to purchase one. but I declined. because clearly they were not qualified to be doing this kind of work...U Guys told me free diagnosis!! After i drop my car off it went to $175..I told you I had a carburetor problem......(u did not correct a fuel line or anything)..u removed the carburetor filter and told me to drive it without it..it still wasnt right..so thats when I left the car with you...u are not being honest!! Your tone online is much different than when I was at your shop!! U slammed down your tablet and ask me to sue you..who cut my distributor wires?? Who left them untapped?? And why would you even been messing with my distributor when I had a carburetor problem ??? I wish I could post pics to show the wires u cut under my hood and just left them hanging and exposed!!

Took my car in May of 2016 and Im STILL having issues. My transmission was replaced... it still jumps when I put it into gear.My air conditioner needed a new condenser, its STILL blowing hot air. (they told me last summer that the Freon needed a chance to move thru the lines so thats why it was blowing warm air last summer)I have it there right now as I type. They still cannot figure out why it jumps when put into gear. My air? The guy said it probably had a Freon leak. Theyve had it since Wednesday (today is Friday) and the guy now says theres Freon in it and its blowing cold air. We took it to Grand Rapids last Saturday and it never once blew cold on our way there or on our way back so I called BS... yep... suddenly he changed his tune and said hed keep looking.We paid $5000 for both the transmission and the air conditioning condenser. WHY DOESNT IT WORK???

I had a really good experience with Cottman transmission in Grand Blanc. I dropped my car off to replaced my upper radiator hose and they fixed a separate automatic transmission fluid leak Iv been dealing with for a long time for free. Also they were the only place I found that did free diagnosis. I would definitely recommend this place to my family.

So, last year we purchased a 2009 dodge charger for our mother during some hard times for her. A year later the transmission decided to die, luckily for me I had a protection warranty plan through Cars Plus. Little did I know Cars Plus is absolute garbage for a warranty service, after calling 3 Chrysler dealerships all of which told me they are unwilling to work with Cars Plus from previous issues with them I finally contacted Cottmans Transmission. Their manager, Andrew Taylor told me they work with them and to bring it right in. He personally contacted the insurance company and worked with them to cover as much of my cost as possible. A job that every other dealership was quoting me for around the 2,800 range was now only a couple hundred dollars because of Cottmans and their manager. Not to mention the job only took three days to get done where all other shops were saying at least a week to even look at it. Very safe to say I will forever be a returning customer because of the service, price and excellent customer service that was provided by Mr.Taylor and the Cottmans crew.Id give them 6 out of 5 stars if I could.Seriously. Use this auto shop.

Ive had a 12-14 yr relationship with Cottmans Transmissions we have received great service from this location . They rebuilt the transmission and it has gone well over 100,000 since rebuilt. They do other repairs as well. So, if you are looking for a great place to have your car repaired, I highly suggest this location.

I am very pleased with the service I got at Cottman Transmission.I was referred to Cottman Transmission by Muffler Man on Corunna Rd. The guys there said they couldnt repair the car but Cottman might be able to.I called on a Monday afternoon and gave them the codes for my 2006 Civic. He checked them and felt they could do the repair on the third gear solenoid without having to open the transmission.I dropped off the car that night and on Tuesday they called and gave me an estimate.The estimate was reasonable and they said the parts would be in Wednesday or Thursday.I picked up the car Friday night and the mechanic said 75% of the time this sort of problem can be repaired and the car will have no more problems. But 25% of the time transmission trouble will develop.Ive driven the car for 2500 miles with no problems.I was hoping to get my car back sooner but I think they did everything they could.They were very professional in keeping me informed, and the key drop service for after hours was very convenient

I have had multiple transmissions built that have lasted in hard worked medium duty trucks. The staff was short and to the point (no beating around the bush) an fixed the problem with no extra effort from me. Pricing is fair have no complaints would recommend.

I brought in my 2013 Chrysler 200 for an inspection. they advertise a free inspection so i figured it was worth it. Well I needed a transmission and I could not be happier with the experience. Great guys at cottman.

Bought a new/used Jeep. I had it for about 5 hours only to end up with transmission issues. I had it towed to Cottamans. They did a diagnostic test and found major problems. I ended up having it towed back to the dealership since they agreed to fix it. Cottamans treated me more than kind and I would give them 6 stars. I highly recommend getting your transmission work done here!

I took my car in for a simple transmission fluid and filter change. I dropped it off Friday morning Aug 5th about 8:15am. About 3:00pm I had to call them to see if my car was done, in which it was not. I finally picked my car up around 4:15pm. All day for just an hour and half job?! Saturday afternoon around 1:00pm I go out to my car and I find a big puddle of transmission fluid under my car. Now I have to take it back in Monday morning, losing a day of work, to have them fix the leak. I never had a leak before I had the fluid change. I will see how much of a run around I will get. It should not take all day to fix; at the most maybe an hour. I took the car back on Monday. They took it in right away. They found that my filler tube gasket was dry rotted and they had to replace it. It took about 2 hours and they didnt charge me.

2003 dodge ram 2500...installed clutch kit. No issues. Al was helpful an knowledgeable. Another plus was they saved me a whole lot of money!!

Cottman has been keeping me on the road for over a year now since they installed an engine for me on my truck. Even though the company I purchased the engine from sent me a bad one and took forever to send a replacement, Cottman was very understanding and honest with me. They took care of me and are still doing it now - with the same vehicle!!!! Whenever I have an issue, they explain the problem and the repair is done timely. Liars and theives. Took my car in for a fluid and filter change. Was there for an hour before they took me back and showed me a transmission pan with shards of metal claiming it was mine. The pan had to have come off a Ford truck given it had Ford stamped in deep block letters whereas mine had the Ford emblem stamped lightly. Told me I had 6 weeks at best. 2 years later the transmission was shifting fine when I traded it in towards a new car.

Maybe my rating of Cottman Transmission is a little harsh, due to the fact that Ive been in service work since 1994, and am expecting too much. My experience happened about an hour ago. I called Cottman about looking at what I thought was a transmission fluid leak. They did a free inspection, and said it was actually oil leaking from the oil filter base housing. While the manager (Im assuming) prepared the quote, I did a quick search on my phone to get an idea of how much the part cost, and it was anywhere from $140 to $209. When the manager told me their estimate, it included pricing of over $ 300 for the needed part ($437 total for gaskets, broken part, oil, oil filter). I was surprised and mentioned that I just looked on the internet and saw most prices in the $150 range. He immediately became very confrontational and began accusing me of trying to cut him out of the repar (what?), and that I sneakily listened to him and his auto tech discuss the part, blah blah blah. He had told me already what the part was. I didnt hear him talking to anyone. Im old, Im in service, Im from the generation that thought the customers always right. I treat my customers with courtesy and respect. Thats not how I was treated at Cottman. Im taking my vehicle elsewhere for service. Getting busted on ridiculous, highway robbery level price markups, then yelling at the customer isnt a very savvy business practice.

This place was absolutely great if it had more than five stars I would have rated it a 10! These people were very knowledgeable on what I wanted to do to with my vehicle on top of it they gave me a no-nonsense fair price and estimate to do step by step and how they would do it to fix my vehicle. And on top of that they gave me two different options on how to go about it maybe save a little bit of money on one it was just a pleasurable experience all around all the employees were very nice and a ten toes they got my car inside a bay as fast as I could in this place was packed I mean literally packed they were working on cars left and right and getting them in and out and inspecting them after they got out I saw that personally, like I Mom and Pop Shop would I do! These guys were just absolutely professional courteous and attentive thats the best I can really say about this place I loved it I would definitely come back again and if youre going to go get some transmission work on your car I would go to Cottman Transmission just because they do care about the consumer and they know that when it comes to transmission work its not something you want to keep going and pouring your money into you want to do it right the first time and thats how they feel you can just tell and how they go about it they say were going to do it right the first time so you dont have to pay and pay and pay two three and four times like Ive had the experience at 7 places Im not going to name and fear of getting sued but I can say that this place was nothing like those other places at all! I had my car fixed here and the same day I got it back I had new issues that I didnt have before. Car wont even start at all and it was doing just fine before I took it to cottmans. When I called I felt like they were kind of rude to me.

I had a good experience. I dont know if I was overcharged. I got a power steering fluid pump and hose replaced. But... I am happy that my car works. Very friendly at cottmans, they even fixed a noise that my tire was making. They just did that for me I didnt ask. But I am so grateful that they did. Thanks! Enjoy the profit! Im ☺.

I was extremely satisfied with the help Rob and Andrew provided me concerning the issue I thought I had with my transmission. Rob and his staff checked out my truck and assured me that the transmission was ok. I felt they were very honest and took the time to address my concerns. I called first to see if I needed an appointment and I thought it was great that Rob took the time to talk with me on the phone to find out what problems I was having. I did not feel rushed at all at Cottman Transmission. Unlike some shops where it just seem that they want you to get in and out as fast as possible and dont really seem to care about the customer at all, just the money. Cottman Transmission has fair prices and fast service, I would definitely recommend their shop to anyone.

Come this place is a great company over all the work with they also work well with people they worked well with me and they give No Nonsense estaments and tell you exactly whats wrong with your car and exactly whats going to be needed to fix it theyre pretty sharp and run a good cleaning business!

The front counter guy is very rude Andrew, just picked up my vehicle and I hope it runs okay. Also don’t appreciate them rubbing in that I got $2,500 dollars worth of work for $1,800. There is no way this company will just give away labor. That will be $700.00 dollars they will be throwing away.
