Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, and friendly team! Great location downtown, just a few blocks from the river and across the street from the beautiful Hampton Inn! We love going when they have live music!Personal favorite menu items are the shrimp and red mule grits followed by the banana toffee pudding with the grilled bananas!
Had a great meal with our friends Marc and Tammy. Service was excellent, beer was only $4 a pint for Mocama, and the food was really good. The Shrimp Penne was especially noteworthy. Overall an excellent dining experience. Highly recommended! Here’s just a few of our selections:—Seafood nachos—Fried calamari—Smoked wings—Shrimp penne—Crab cakes—Fish sandwich (Swordfish)Again, highly recommended!
The staff and the food were outstanding super impressed. The waitress was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. My date and shared our dishes because they were both so delicious definitely going again and again and again 😁
This was my second experience eating at The Boat House and it was great. For as many places that are struggling to fill their staff The Boat House always has plenty of employees. The service staff was very attentive. And this has been the best steak I have found on Amelia Island so far. When you think of Fernandina Beach you always think of shrimp and seafood but living here I like to have a good steak from time to time. Youll see in the pictures I ordered their Filet that comes smothered in an amazing mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes. The other photo is the shrimp my girlfriend ordered with hushpuppies. Yes the hushpuppies do look very fancy covered in sauce and they were also excellent. Whomever expos or plates the food here does an AMAZING job. And also to the owners and managers, whatever you are doing to employ and keep people employed you are doing EXCELLENT so please continue providing us with a great place to visit it is much appreciated.I recommend eating here if you have not and also for anyone visiting the island.
First time visitor. Impressive menu, good food. Will definitely keep on my monthly dinner out list.
Beautiful downtown restaurant. We had drinks and side of fries. Had a conversation with some very nice visitors to the Island. Weather is cooling down and its a great time to get out and enjoy!
Maddy is an excellent server. She is very attentive. Even put herself in between the very loud people beside us and leaned in to be heard abd to hear us. Muscle appitzer was amazing. Wish I had taken pictures. Hanger steak and brussels amazing as well. Scallops were delicious. Most definitely will be back.
Fantastic addition to Amelia island. Live music on the patio adds to the great food and service. Our bartender Eric was very accommodating. Best part about this restaurant is the owner Chet. We came back for a second night and he knew all 6 of our drink orders from the night before. It’s the details that matter and this place is all over it.
If you are at all concerned with covid protocols in restaurants, this will seem like a great choice. Much of the seating is outdoors and tables are nicely spaced. On the other hand, bartenders were mask-less (well, under their chins) and server would pull mask down when talking to us within mere inches of our food at the high top table. That said, the shrimp & grits were fantastic, as were the cocktails. But the lack of concern by the staff offset this in our book.
First, this place offers lots of open air seating. Be sure to seat where you can watch the sunset. Next, the food is very good as they offer local seafood on the menu. My po-boy had shrimp and oysters. They have burgers and steaks, too. Service is really good as our wait staff was attentive without being pushy. Parking is available all around on the street and public parking zone next block over. Definitely worth a visit!
Go anywhere else. They do not care about customer service or their food. Vegetables are off color. Fresh fish is soaked in fish water and taste like spoiled fish. Chef/cook came out with dark sunglasses twice. I guess theyre getting high in the kitchen since they dont care about quality. Dont mind paying expensive prices just want quality food in return. This place is not providing that. The low customer count proves that. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.
Just opened a few days ago. The food was really good and the steak was cooked to temperature. The Hanger came out a little under salted for my taste. The meat it self was very juicy and flavorful, just lacked that salt kick I enjoy. My wife loved her Black grouper and gnocchi. She mentioned that she thought it could of had a little more sauce. The flavors were there and it was a beautiful dish. Maybe the gnocchi soaked up all the remoulade. None of these things would keep me from coming back.
We were looking for a place to eat on a Sunday night and walked up on this and it was open. Spacious outdoor patio area with a covered stage. We couldnt have been more pleased. Elli, our server, was very personable, attentive, and efficient. I got the fried shrimp and oyster plate and my wife got the crab cakes. Both were excellent and large portions. Good wines and good pours. The entertainment was Amy Vickery, wow she was very good! This is now on our list of top restaurants in Amelia.
I have worked in the industry for many years and the boathouse is phenomenal! Amazing service, excellent food, nice atmosphere. I could tell all of the staff was working very hard. Keep it up!
Maddy, our server, is great.Muscle appetizer came out hot. Steamy. Tasted superb.Crab cakes with sucatash was great.Hanger steak with honey brussel spouts was awesome.Scallops were excellent.Very noisy for a Friday night. I will go back on a different day of the week and hope it is quiter.
This is one of the best restaurants ever. The food was delicious, staff was great, even had a great live band.
My wife and I had a date night dinner here on Wednesday. The place has great vibes and cool feel to it. The music was good, the food delicious, and the cocktails superb. We highly recommend it.
The food, service and live music were all excellent. Best meal we have had in a long time and the owner went out of his way to give us a fun, memorable experience. Definitely not one to miss.
This is the place to be for Friday night dinner. Live music, drinks and great food. I had the scallops and jambalaya. Scallops were cooked perfectly and the jambalaya was so good. The mac and cheese was also so tasty with the cajun seasoning and sausage. Definitely will be back again.
We had the pleasure of eating dinner at the Boat House on 7/1/21. Very happy with the menu selection and the wine list. We sat at the bar and were served by Adam. Adam was an excellent resource in helping us to chose our food and wine selections. Will certainly be back to the restaurant!
On this day the food was good, Service was awesome! Janelle was our server, she was pleasant, efficient and engaging. You could tell she was smiling behind the mask. Its a new business and has a spacious interior, nice little features around the bar, boat cleats for womens purses and outlets next to it to charge phones. Caricatures on the walls of some locals and huge roll up doors in the front with a walk up outdoor bar. They have very large space outside, for entertainment with a covered gazebo. Across the street from the Hampton Inn, very convenient for guests at the hotel. Would visit again.
Service was great. Food disappointing to say the least . Three of us ordered scallops. Total of 3 scallops in this dish .Over cooked and more black pepper then anyone could possible enjoy . Manager never came by to see if food was satisfactory .Staff was great . This is my second time to try this restaurant. Will not give it a third shot. Do not like to give bad reviews but don’t waste a night out on this one has to be better options in Amelia.
Shockingly good restaurant! Very out-of-place for decor to food at this location. The service was outstanding, the food outstanding (2 of best dishes ever!) and would highly recommend.
GET NEW HOSTESSES!We visited on Saturday evening (July 17th) for our honeymoon around 5:00pm. We were greeted by two very unhappy, miserable young hostesses. No smile. No welcomes. They barely spoke to use is fact. Almost as if we they were disgusted by having to walk us to our table. I watched while we waited for our food and never once did they crack a smile at any guest that entered. First impressions are everything and I am sure every other person that entered through those doors that evening felt that same as my husband and I.So I am giving 4 stars because our food was so very delicious and our waitress was attentive to our needs. It almost made up for the sour faces that greeted us.So if you visit I will say to overlook those that greeted you, instead know that what you have to look forward to will make your hungry appetite happy and your soul sing. The filet was tender and perfect and well worth another visit.
Went to the Boathouse on 7/10/2021 @ noon. Service was outstanding however two (02) orders of mussels smelled so bad as they were put in front of us, we had to send them back. You would think the staff would smell bad seafood & not serve it. Also got an order or shrimp penne pasta, huge bowl but only 4 pieces of shrimp. For the price we paid not worth it. Specifically asked the waitress if she mentioned the issue with the mussels to the manager, she said yes. He never came over to talk to us, we were not looking for a comp meal, just wanted to provide feedback...it appeared he was more concerned with flirty conversation with his female staff instead of engaging customers. Probably wont be back, along with the six (06) different people at our table. Expected better Boathouse!
This place is awesome, I eat here everytime I come to fernandina beach. Great patio atmosphere, you wont be disappointed.
Boat House lacked staff where it counted in front of the house. If your short staffed and you have a good restaurant have your manager wait tables? The girls in front werent seating people in order. I would say some hustle would have made a difference. The venue was pretty overall.
The two bartenders working tonight were awesome! Food was fantastic. It’s not cheap but well worth the price. We will be back.
It was our second time to the boathouse the food and service on both occasions were great. We have sat at both the indoor and outdoor bars and enjoyed the conversations with the bartenders and others sitting at the bar. The blue cheese chips are amazing as is everything we have had so far. Last night I decided to have desert. The banana pudding with a bourbon was the perfect combo. We will be back.
Yum! I cant believe it took us so long to eat here. We just had such a delicious meal and such FABULOUS service (shout out to Caila! Cross your fingers you get put in her section!) I had to come leave a review right away. My husband, our 4 kids and my in laws all cleared our plates tonight, and no one had a single complaint. For reals! The ambiance was delightful, the live music was awesome, the food rocked, and Caila made our evening perfect, meeting our needs before we even knew we had them! And ommmggg those honey brussle sprouts 😍. We will definitely be back!!
Wasnt overall impressed with this place. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was nice but the food was sub-par for the price. I had the seafood nacho, it all tasted bland, no colors or interesting flavors. Just blah
The food was superb! From appetizers to entrees, we were a huge family of 10 and shared every bite. Our server Jeanie was patient and made our evening a real pleasure. What a wonderful new addition to an already amazing downtown district! We cant wait to come back
Our food was excellent, drinks good, and server helpful. But the band, oh the band. Bless their hearts! The only bad thing I can say of the food is that any of the sauces we had were quite bland. My Salmon was well cooked, often it gets over cooked but this was good. I do recommend!
Nice casual meal on a Sunday evening, but it was pretty noisy inside and not even full seating! Recommend you wait on outside seating if you want to carry on a conversation!
Great outdoor seating and live music on Sunday morning. Food was great!
Definitely a tourist trap!! The service was great but the food was really bad and superOverpriced for the quality. Sad we wasted almost a $100 on dinner tonight. Don’t waste a lunch or dinner on this place. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Expected this place to be over priced with OK food. We were not disappointed
Excellent atmosphere, food and service ❤️ Highly recommend! Good variety of things to eat and drink.
We love The Boat House! The food and drinks are delicious and the service is amazing. Highly recommend!
Hamburger was so underwhelming they double stack them just like a double Mc Donalds but not as tastie. Cole slaw was not worth noting until the bill came and they charge $7 for unetible mush. Very disappointing -Kitchen just pass along Sysco prepared food to the unsuspecting. Oh well live and learn.
I love the Boat House. The food, the music and the service is all great!! I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet because I love the Mahi/fish sandwich so much I usually get that. The Brussels are amazing too. All my friends on the island rave about Boat House too. Thank y’all for bringing another great restaurant to this island.
We live on the island and have come here several times with fabulous experiences. This weekend was a stark difference. We called early in the day to let them know our group of 10 was coming in about 7pm for a birthday dinner. They requested we call about an hour ahead of our arrival to check the wait time for such a big group, which we did and were told at least a 2 hour wait. We headed over to the Decantery for a drink while we waited (highly highly recommend!) and got a call about 90 mins later that one table of 10 on the outside patio was ready for us. We headed to the restaurant to be told that they actually don’t seat groups bigger than 8 together and we’d be split between two smaller tables. Since this was a birthday dinner, that obviously didn’t work for us. The table next to us had a group of 9, so we asked to speak to the manager to see if an exception could be made. Ashley was SO rude and combative from the second she walked up to the table. We explained the situation and she slammed the two tables together, threw the menus on the table, and stomped off. It was so uncomfortable and the whole thing made us want to leave but we decided to stay knowing a table of 10 anywhere else would be another several hours wait. The food was a 2/10 in comparison to the past visits. All that said our waitress, Tanya, was so sweet and made the whole experience fun. Give that girl a raise and get rid of that nasty manager! Reading other Yelp reviews she has had the same behavior with lots of other people. Not the way to run a business!
Food was not good. What a waste of $75 bucks. Ordered nachos, chips were stale. Ordered shrimp penne, more like a soup and barely any shrimp. We also got the shrimp and oyster platter. Cold slaw was warm- not food safe. Shrimp was good. Oysters subpar. One thing I can say is the hostess and waitress was very friendly. We are in the area often and we wont return.
This is a pretty decent restaurant in downtown Fernandina Beach. The food was pretty good and the views from the restaurant were great.
What a great destination restaurant! Its only 1.5 hours from our home and worth the trip.. for excellent service and delicious food thats creative. The open air patios are expansive andy comfy.
Calamari Horrible. 1/4 lb. Burger and fries,, waste of money. McDonalds is better. Wife had the salmon, very good. Good drinks.
Cool place. Great outdoor space for evening dining and/or drinks. Staff was great. Wish the neighbors didnt complain about the live music...
This place is a very nice outdoor listening to great music place. I wish there food was a little bit better. my steak was very good. my husband’s poke bowl. was not the topical bowl it reminded me of a tartar on a small circle of rice patty. we felt for the money it very small portions. wish the food portions would have a little better like the rest of island.
Our server, Terry, was great as always. We brought friends and we had a great time. Food is consistently good and looking forward to going back.
Was very disappointed, the food wasn’t good at all, can definitely cook better then that! Steak and French fries for 34.00? What?!!!? Nooooo to much, cocktails for 10.00 wasn’t good at all had to send those back and the appetizer, that had Pimento cheese, bacon, green onion, celery and was only three for 14.00 which is ridiculous! Definitely will not come back!
We were in Fernandina for a month. We ate at this restaurant multiple times during our visit. The building is beautiful. The outside dining space is great. Live music, great food and friendly servers. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners on one of our visits They were delightful! This restaurant is beautiful. A wonderful addition to the Downtown area. I highly recommend the brownie/ice cream dessert!
Great service, great selection of food and drinks
I ordered the shrimp and grits thinking it was the basket but it came with boiled shrimp with pork sausage and seasoning with tomato which was not said on menu I’m allergic to tomato and I couldn’t eat after that very disappointed
This is an amazing place to dine! Great service, great prices, and great food!!
I had the grilled salmon, calamari, and seafood nachos. Everything was great. Salmon was grilled perfectly medium and it was really delish.
Just stopped in at the end of the nite for a couple of drinks. Great Martinis, live music and friendly and attractive bar tenders providing adult drinks at competitive prices. What else could you ask for.
Beautiful spaces inside & outside at this new restaurant! Lots of tables on different levels outside. We had excellent service and excellent food; fresh oysters, calamari appetizers. Mussels & fried oysters also Great!! Happy Hour drink specials!Fun place to sit & enjoy the vibe & view.Wish they would open for lunch!!
A great new stop in Fernandina. Delicious food, especially the seafood, cooked perfectly. Scallops are amazing, as are the seafood nachos and calamari. There is usually a great local artist playing on the patio too. So glad they finally opened. Love this place.
Great food! New modern atmosphere. Grouper Etofee and Shrimp N Grits some.of the best Ivee had in North Fl.
My daughter and her husband took me there for Mothers Day. It was very busy so we ate outside. The food was good and the staff were nice.
Were told when we arrived at 5:30pm that the wait for an outside table for 5 Would be 20 minutes. Joined the rest of our group at the bar. 50 minutes later we were told they were putting two tables together to accommodate our party of 5. Another 15 minutes and we were told they accidentally gave our table to another party! Really? No offer of a round of drinks or maybe a comped appetizer. Nope. Nothing. Waited another 20 minutes to be seated. Nice food and decent wine list. Bar staff wears their masks below their chin...
Amazing experience! Food and drinks were delicious! We ate outside with live music and a beautiful view of the sunset. Our service was fantastic. We will be back!!
Great meal! Great service!
The service was great and the waitress was very attentive! Atmosphere was great too. Food was subpar. The mahi sandwich had no salt and the fries were cold and over seasoned.
Jackie, our waitress, was wonderful and really made our dining experience wonderful late on a Sunday evening! The food was perfect.
2nd visit. Excellent food. Wonderful staffGreat location and perfect balance of outdoor /indoor seating
Great staff, great atmosphere & the food was delicious.
Holy Moly that was some good food, and our server Meagan top of the game.... Loved it...
Excellent. Food, service, atmosphere all great. Lovely setting. Sat outside on the patio. Live music was great. Not so loud that you cant converse.
Dog friendly (owner brought a dog bowl of water for our dogs without us even having to ask). Kid friendly. Live music. Great vibes
Great food, excellent service personnel, & pricey drinks
Fun place with great outdoor seating. Live music much of the time.
Ate here for a friends birthday. Food was spot on, price was reasonable for the quality. Fresh high quality food, Very nice scallops. Server Ganelle was very nice, and Chef Jason made sure to personally come out to make sure the birthday dinner was perfect. Will definitely be coming again.
Crystal really made the whole experience so much more charming that it already it. Love the place
Wow! We could not have had a better time or better food!! Old town Fernandina is a special place! Great restaurants are what help make it special. The Boat House is the best in town!! Enjoy!! Tell Chet Capt Tom from FreeWill sends his best!!
Excellent, service is amazing, food delicious, atmosphere upscale. No disappointments here.
Great food and staff. I would always recommend it 😁
Great food and service! Love the decor and atmosphere
The mahi sandwich was served with raw chopped carrots and bell peppers. It was listed as a “chow” on the menu that I’m assuming was supposed to be a pickled chow chow. It was not. After ordering blue cheese chips as a side, I was brought plain chips and a boat of blue cheese dressing with crumbles and later charged for it. It was bizarre. My son’s burger was so greasy it covered the bottom of the odd bowl it was served in. Our guest’s fried shrimp and oysters had clearly been cooked far in advance. The food was about as unsavory as some of the local characters featured on the walls of the interior. The building and location are great. The concept was clearly an afterthought. Raw carrots on a fish sandwich. Unbelievable.
Great atmosphere, very average chef. We went on a busy night, so the wait for food and drink was understandable. What can’t be forgiven is small frozen calamari, chicken & waffles app (which was a strange pairing of chicken salad, complete with grapes on waffle strips), dry salmon entree and a filet that reminded me of what I could expect to find for dinner on a United Airlines flight, although at least they could microwave it to the right temperature. Top it off w/ a warm brownie sundae; the kitchen remembered to heat the skillet, but left the brownie cold. There was a common theme of pre-cooked/frozen food and it felt like the chef simply didn’t care. I wouldn’t either, if it wasn’t for NYC prices and definitely expected better. Maybe growing pains as new?
Had my first visit to The Boathouse tonight as I like to give a new restaurant plenty of time to get the kinks ironed out. My meal, sea scallops with jambalaija, was delicious and the service was great. The menu is certainly weighted toward the sea which is fine with me but if not you might need to look elsewhere.
It’s their first weekend open...a lot could go wrong, right? It did not. It was perfect! If you want a blend of Fernandina culture, a splash of eclectic dining, a toss of coastal indulgence, with a dash of southern charm - then here you go. Highly recommend!
Awesome food,and live music 🎵
Dinner and drinks it was good may e a little salty but good
Fun place. Good food . Staff friendly. Felt safe and comfortable.
Place was nice, but it would have been better for me if the server didn’t constantly pull down her mask to talk at the table. What’s the point of the mask? Never returning.
Great food and awesome atmosphere!
Amazing new find for us. We spit the Bleu Cheese Chips and Farmhouse Mixed Farm Greens. Very reasonable $$ with huge portions. As I took my first bite of the Bleu Cheese Chips, I said out loud that it exponentially surpassed my expectations. Ive never had anything that was even close to this amazing taste. More than enough for two people, youll want to tackle this dish right away least its delicious toppings sit long enough to start to make it a little soggy. Pro tip: mix it together to spread out all that goodness. The salad was wonderfully fresh and delicious, but next time Ill ask for the vinaigrette on the side as this time it was applied a little too liberally for my taste. The only disappointment was the peach bread pudding that was not as cakey as Id hopped. The outdoor seating was comfortable and they had a talented singer that Im sorry we didnt have more time with. Were really looking forward to our next visit, because we WILL be back.
