Purchased tires at the Alexandria store a few years back. Had a flat near Fergus Falls as we were heading to a family Christmas weekend and searched for Royal Tire. Stopped in the store not knowing it was a commercial only location. Staff was accommodating and found us a replacement tire at another location and had us back on the road quickly. I believe our need was out of scope for their normal customer, yet they took the time to help. And for a very reasonable price.
Always friendly and helpful quick service.
So, I called and asked what it would cost to remove an old tire and mount and balance new ones on four wheels. Two trailer wheels and two car wheels. They said $15 for the car wheels and $10 for the trailer wheels if I wanted them balanced a certain way and it would be cheaper for the trailer ones ($10 vs $15 I assumed), I say okay and have someone drop them off. Later they are picked up by someone and I look at the receipt once they arrive to me.Total: $94.75This is $22.75 per wheel before tax without tire disposal (includes a $3.21 shop/environmental fee). And there is a counteract fee of $8.95 a tire, which was not mentioned as an additional cost on the phone.Ive had dozens of tires removed, fixed, mounted, balanced, ect. and never have I been quoted after asking the price for a mount and balance a price that didnt include everything except tax, tire disposal, and maybe a shop/environmental fee. They knocked $10 off before they were picked up, so, originally the car wheels would have been $27.50 pre-tax. This is ridiculous, when a customer asks the price of a mount and balance it is assumed that includes the valve stem fee and anything else except of course perhaps tax, disposal and occasionally a environmental fee.0/5 stars, the customer should be told the actual cost of something, or at least inform them there are additional costs to the quote.
