Tony is a great guy with a lot of knowledge about guitars. His prices are reasonable and he works fast. If you live close to downtown theres no reason not to stop by!
My son has been studying piano with Mr. Jeff at CFMC for about a year now. He had to stop for a few months due to Covid but they are back open. Mr. Jeff is very patient and nice. He makes sure my son understands his assignments. Hes a great great music teacher.
They only had a couple of guitars in stock and the floor was practically empty. Despite that friendly banter was made, I felt like I was being watched like a hawk.Dunno if it was an off day or what but it wasnt a pleasant experience.edit: Hey tony thanks for the reply! I might just have to ship my guitar out here, its in need of repair :)
Located right behind the school ( The Capital Encore Academy on a one way street, Old Street).🎼🎹🎷🎤Friendly service, nice music rooms for lessons and private practice .🎸🎻🎺
Friendly staff and knowledgeable service. Cape Fear Music Center is more than just a music store, theyre a part of the community. The guys that run the place are engaging and genuine. I always feel like Im a friend rather than just a customer. The down town location is also nice and usually where all the action is. Looking forward to a lasting business relationship among real musicians.
Great staff. Reasonably priced. My kids love their lessons!

Hidden Gem. Not a big inventory but give lessons and whats important to me is they repair and set up guitars quality work and on time.
I was walking down the street across from Cape Fear Music Center Instrumental today which happened to be the first day of school for my daughter. I saw a little girl that sits next to my daughter in class she was holding hands with a woman, I assumed the woman was her mother. I asked the little girl and the woman how was the first day of school? The woman placed the little girl inside the building and asked me what did I want? She was really on the defensive I didnt understand why. I continued to explain to the woman I was the parent of the little girl that sat next to the little girl she was holding hands with. Rudely, she said I am not her mother and begin to ask me what I wanted. I told her what I said but she started to call a man named Toni. I walked away and they began to walk towards me, so I turned around and told him what just happened. I explained to him how upset I was because I didnt understand why his employee approached me like she did. I asked if we could exchange names so that I could make a complaint. He refused to do that but he went on to tell me that he owned half the block. A point that I thought was irrelevant. To sum up the event I dont know if they thought I was a homeless person and that is how they speak to the homeless, maybe it was my race or they are just rude. Their demeanor was not one that I would entrust my children in their care.
Great people! Always welcoming.
Knowledgeable staff, Tony & Jeff are the best ! Great service and selection
