These guys are awesome! Have done several deals with them. They are honest, fair prices (and I have done a lot of shopping), and lightning fast delivery. Most of the time over the phone, sight unseen, and have NEVER been disappointed. Scott S. blows me away with his knowledge of coins and bullion! In these times of increasingly fake news and fake money, I will take a silver dollar every day of the week!
The negative reviews I have read share a common thread, they complain about prices. These folks dont create market prices. supply and demand does. I have dealt with them myself, far, far more than most customers. I assure you they are literally the best in the business. Their prices are competitive with anyone
Very nice experience selling gold and silver.
Nice, Clean shop. If you are into American coins and banknotes, or precious metals then this is a fine shop. I felt the staff was nicer when they were in the West Acres Mall location and their previous location near Whale-of-a-washWhen I was a young kid, I would go into the Treasure Island location in the mall and buy a few cheaper coins. Greg Olson actually took time one Saturday to explain coin grading and what to look for when inspecting coins, took my $10 allowance and sent me out of the store with $20 worth of coins and books/magazines and a love for collecting. Greg is the reason I started collecting coins (and later bank notes).I used to shop regularly when they were in the old girl scouts building but life got in the way and I stopped going regularly. When they opened the new shop, I was disappointed that they reduced their glass display cases but it was clean and brightly lit.I returned in 2015 to inquire about world currency and a metal detector. I looked around but I wasnt able to find their world currency (notes or coins) area like the old shops, and they had done away with the glass display cases in leu of a waiting room feel. It didnt feel like the shop I once knew. When I asked first if they had any world currency, I was told they only carry American coins and notes for real collectors and we dont deal with monopoly money. I was a little shocked they would say that but let it go. I said I remembered buying world currency from their shop years before, it was sad they no longer had any and asked if there was any where in Fargo I could buy world currency. The staff member told me to google it and walked away to talk with another staff member(s) who were talking to an older gentleman with some coins in graded coin cases. Not I dont know, Im sorry, is there anything else I can help you find? Just, Google it and ignored me.I left the store and returned a few hours later to ask about their metal detectors. I didnt see the gentleman I spoke with early. I went to a different staff member and asked about what metal detector they would recommend for starting out but I didnt want a beginner/kids model. I asked for a recommendation they they suggested a brand and model I had read online to avoid. I mentioned that the reviews on Amazon were not great and had seen people recommended against buying it and was there a different model? He jumped from a ~$150 detector to a $700 detector. I mentioned that the $700 was out of my price range. The staff member told me to shop on Amazon if I was going to listen to online reviews and walked away. I left feeling like they didnt want me in the shop and I ended up buying a detector from Amazon (Bounty Hunter Tracker IV)I returned in mid-2019 to again inquire about a new metal detector as I felt the one I bought on Amazon was limited and I was more experienced but still wanted some guidance. I thought that there was little chance I would run into the same treatment and still remembered Greg fondly. The staff members whom were in the store at the time were talking with what seemed to be friends or customers they knew well. They were laughing and having a good chat, which is fine. I waited about 3-4 minutes and finally approached one staff member who was just talking sports with someone if there was anyone there would could assist me with some questions on metal detectors. The staff member seemed happy enough to help me at first but I got the feeling they didnt really want to help me and were playing nice but not really listening as they kept pushing me towards a low end detector which was even more limited than the detector I already had.I mentioned which detector I had, again, and mentioned the option I was looking for and I my price range. The staff member said well, we dont carry anything like that and simply walked away behind the counters, ignoring me when I asked if they could order a detector with those features.I ended up on Amazon, again, buying a Garrett AT Pro.Im sad by the decline in customer service
Bought today from Scott. Great service
Great store, great people, fair and honest pricing. Felt the need to leave a review since I noticed the absurd negative reviews.I have been coming to this store since they were at their smaller location, and I have always had warm, friendly service.
Treasure Island is always an excellent place with extremely helpful and honest staff!
Wonderful staff, very helpful, being new to coins I do research but they are at the ready to explain the things I haven’t yet figured out. I have returned repeatedly and plan to continue returning. Nice to my kids as well and at the ready to explain some things to them as well, they are excited to go back when we do. Also, I’d love to see some mystery grab bags, makes collecting even more fun, and draws attention to different collections I may have not thought of.
They have always been courteous and helpful whenever I have stopped in. Their assortment is wonderful. I feel like a kid in a candy store. I cant wait till they open again.
Im looking to start buying soon and wondering what current prices are
I’m from Park Rapids, Mn. I always make it a point to stop at Treasures Island Coins Store with every visit to the Fargo area. The staff and owner are outstanding when it comes to purchasing, questions or just fun conversation 👍I also alway purchase something in the line of numismatic items. If you ever feel the need to be properly assisted with any and all your coin needs then I most favorably suggest you shop and visit with this excellent business👍Dale
Bought the top-o-the-line metal detector and many coins over the years, all with very happy results. Greg Olson has had a wealth of experiences traveling to England with a metal detectors and fellow searchers. The best part is TI has a depository so you dont have to worry about a bank closing or having valuable coins on your possession in your home where loved ones reside.
I had a rude and intimating staff member help me. After the experience I felt I had not gotten the service I deserved and that in some way cheated.
If there was a category to rate price they would get Poor-Fair. They charge a bit more over spot than I would expect. I easily found another gold and silver seller in town who charges less. Friendly staff though and good costumer service. Liked dealing with them more than the other place. But in the end an ounce is and ounce and it all comes down to price
Treasure Island has a great selection of rare coins, foreign money and collectors coins. I have purchased collector coins there and I am so happy to have these rare pieces in my collection. The staff is very friendly and extremely professional. This is the type of business that I trust with my important purchases and my money.
Great selection of metals. I have been going to this shop for years. Highly recommended.
I brought my grandmother to different places around the area to sell a gold cap and a few rings. We decided on Treasure Island and I was extremely happy with the way they treated both of us. My grandmother walked out saying she wouldnt go anywhere else and I was impressed by their courtesy and patience with questions. With offering best price, paired with great service, Id recommend them to anyone.
Had one rude staff member and with that experience I would not recommend
Ive been in to Treasure Island a number of times and Ive always been extremely impressed by the selection they have (especially historical value of several of their more rare pieces) and have always been treated wonderfully! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and always willing to give me a history lesson :) I can honestly say Ive never had a bad experience at Treasure Island, and will continue coming back here often!
I went in to inquire about some collector coins I had seen online. The staff was helpful and had some in stock, which I purchased. They made an effort to find the other coins in the set for me and let me know promptly when they were in. Overall, excellent service.
My brother and I sold some old coins that our grandma had left us to Treasure Island. Our experience was great. All the people who worked with us were patient, went through our coins item by item, and explained the process every step of the way. On top of that, a few days later, I received a check and note in the mail explaining that wed missed a few coins during the count and they found them after wed left. They couldve easily pocketed those coins and wed have been none the wiser, but they didnt...good folks all the way around. I would highly recommend doing business with Treasure Island Coins in Fargo.
Melissa was very nice to work with! Explained what we had and what each item was worth or not worth. We had some items/coins that were saved by a parent.
First time buyer, was greeted warmly, asked a lot of questions and the young lady who helped me was very professional. Will definitely be back!
Brought some coins in to sell and the staff seemed more interested in starring at my GF then handling business. Extremly unprofessional. This was well over 5 years ago but I havent been back since.
Went looking for some rare coins and possibly some metals. Well, walk in and get asked if I need help in less than 30 seconds. I can handle that, but I got laughed at by an employee when I went to inquire on an expensive coin. When I asked about what was funny, he just ignored me. I asked then what would be a good metal detector. He just mentioned a random brand and walked over to a girl that had just walked in.Place is clean, very professional looking. Nice selections, but I wont be returning any time soon.
Fantastic selection and great prices! Will definitely be a frequent shopper
They are priced fairly but their selection of silver could be better. They have rounds and coins but no specialty silver items.
Liked nothing about this place. They ignore and act like you cant afford there coins. Witch are way over priced. You can buy them on line from a repitual dealer for nearly half the price. I walked in looking to invest thousands of my retirement money in precious metals. I wouldnt spend a nickel in that store. There are way better places in fargo to buy your metals and coins from that actually treat you with respect. The number one thing I didnt like is the staff and the way they treat you. I was talking to a guy who walked away from me in mid-sentance to help a attractive woman who walked in the door. Not professional at all. If it would let me I would give a zero star rating
They have very professional, friendly staff and they give you fair prices.
The staff at Treasure Island is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It is a great place to buy silver and gold.
Very kind and knowledgeable staff. Good prices and a beautiful store.
Great products, great staff, great store!
To expensive buy somewhere else dont pay more for the same.
