Made an appointment to have a hitch installed. I had my own to all I needed was the installation. On the day of I drop it off at noon, which it was scheduled for, and wind up waiting until 6:45 p.m. before they finally get it done. Staff was aight and got the hitch installed without the wiring. Waiting for the wiring for the lights is what kept me there for 7 hours due to the guy with the wire needing to get there.Whoever this wiring guy is he must have had a hell of an emergency to not make it to the store in a timely manner on the day that the installation was scheduled.But it doesnt end there. Once the hitch was installed I headed to another location to attach a trailer. They told me that the hitch was not properly installed and was missing a ball piece. So I had to go out and buy one the next day.Overall this was a pretty bad experience. I do not recommend this location for hitch installations and would advise that people go to a mechanic or other store.

Made a reservation for a trailer two weeks ago. Sent the family by airplane to our new home. I stayed to move all the stuff. Then I get a call a day before the reservation saying there are no trailers anywhere?! Why would you take the reservation then? Its like a horrible Seinfeld episode. The phone rep showed zero empathy and offered no possible solution either. So seriously, what do I do now with a car and a bunch of stuff? Holy moly U-Haul, youre the worst.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I had an appointment for a hitch installation. When I arrived, I was informed that they hadnt received one of the parts and that the service tech wasnt even there that day. After calling the manager, Sheldon, 3 times (since he never called me back when he said he would) over 3 days, there was still no resolution or possibility of rescheduling. Sheldon told me that I needed to let him do his job and if I didnt want to do that then I should cancel. Easy decision. Id rather drive back and forth across the country 10 xs than have to deal with this incompetent company ever again.There is more to the story, more completely incapable representatives, and more laughably horrible customer service, but I will spare you the details. I have canceled all orders/reservations with U-Haul and will be shipping my belongings via FedEx. See ya never, U-Haul.

We reserved a truck a month away from our move across the country. The afternoon before the big day we were called and told we couldnt use a truck til 2 or 3pm. Not only that but they were extremely rude to my wife about it and didnt offer any other locations or options for us. Im sure others have good experiences with them, but this is the last time I will try to rely on uhaul for something important.

Stay on them about any discrepancies as they have an express leave the keys in the vehicle and receive your receipt via email approach for fast, non-waiting check-ins. Other than that, knowledgeable and friendly service, even when busy.

Sheldon and Anthony are fantastic. They helped fix every problem I ran into. I had a bad experience at a different location (a gas station that has U-Hauls) and was wrongly charged. Anthony listened to my concerns and Sheldon resolved the problem immediately. This is a busy location as it is quite popular but Anthony and Sheldon get the job done. They work as quickly as they can with the amount of customers they have and make sure you feel heard as a customer and are taken care of. After my first experience, I felt I would never use UHaul again. After speaking with Sheldon & Anthony I will only be using UHaul Columbia Pike going forward. 10/10 recommend, fantastic service.

I would give 5 stars if not for the parking lot; it is usually so full that its hard to get in. But apparently they are always busy because they have everything you want to rent; yhis location is very well stocked.. The staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions. Often they have people on the parking lot offering to work for you, a real convenience (take cash for that part).

AVOID THIS LOCATION. I reserved a 20 truck with an appliance and furniture dolly for 11/29/2020. Arrived early but stood in line as the Manager looked at us and continued to flirt with a woman who had no intention of renting but just had a question. She eventually left and the manager disregarded us and tended to another gentleman that walked and jumped ahead of us. As the other patron was waiting, the manager gave a condescending look as if to gesture that I didnt speak english and it was a bother to even ask if I needed help. He aggressively motioned to the middle aisle and finally began the checkin process. After reviewing the reservation he stood there for a moment, rolled his eyes, then rudely stated we aint got no dollies. He just sat there and looked at me. Did he offer an alternative? No. Did he expect me to say okay Ill just move heavy items without a dolly, Yes. I began explaining that I specifically asked for these type of dollies in order to utilize the small freight elevator with narrow doors (old building) which meant furniture would have to be on its side and rolled through to barely fit. He interrupted me and disregarded what I explained and just said I will get a hand truck which is totally pointless. I tried to explain why that wouldnt work with the elevator and asked if he had another alternative. This is where is went downhill. He became enraged, yelling racial slurs like you people always trying to get ... and hate yall coming here thinking I wouldnt hear it behind the plexi-glass window. One would think that in this day and age he would understand the severity of what he said. This wasnt the case. I asked what he meant and he began yelling more. Reasoning with him was useless at this point especially when youre told YOURE STILL TALKING?! in a loud condescending manner when you tried to speak. When he could no longer provide any reason for not fulfilling the reservation let alone offer an apology for not knowing what he had available, he yelled REFUSAL OF SERVICE! and said youre done. What?!? This is when I asked to speak to a manager. He was quite proud of stating that he was the manager and went out of his way to point out that his name was painted on the door. At this point he was breathing heavily, sweating, with bloodshot eyes and began displaying aggressive cues and started posturing up to me. I walked out to avoid any further escalation due to a simple act of incompetence on his part. I had to go to another location in DC (1750 Bladensburg Rd NE) and no problem at all getting what I needed even for a weekend walk in. They were professional and courteous. They knew their inventory and provided what I needed promptly. They were shocked when I explained to them what occurred shortly before and they questioned as to why the manager couldnt have called and just transfer the reservation or check to see if they had the dollies (which they did) and they could have just delivered them instead of me reserving another truck. I had a 3 hour window reservation and paid for the loading dock from 1000-1300 hrs. By the time I began my move, an hour had already lapsed. This gentleman is in the wrong industry and does not need to interact with the public whatsoever.Im sure this individual is good at some things but Management is surely not one of them. A manager would recognize the ongoing supply issues and address them immediately through QC and/or inventory checks and not count on the desperation of patrons to accept very low standards of service.

Made an appointment to have a hitch installed on my new car. Arrived on time and was told that I could come get my car in 6 or 7 hours, despite the fact that I had made it very clear while setting up my appointment that I was going to wait. The man said there were three cars ahead of me...how does it take 6 or 7 hours to install 4 hitches?! I was told that I didnt do this work and didnt know anything about it. Oddly enough, though, I do, and I am very sure that installing a hitch on a new car takes about 10 minutes and involves two screws. Not only was the agent rude and demeaning, but the service was nonexistent. If they knew they were running late, they should have called. Piss poor service, wont be returning or recommending EVER.

The hitch was installed and Nat pointed out something that saved me money as well as could have caused an electrical problem. The installation took less than 15 minutes. I would recommend.

I made a reservation for a truck at 8:30 AM on a Saturday morning, with a 4:00 PM drop off. I got a text an hour before close, on Friday night letting me know that my reservation was at a different location with a 4:30 PM pickup. By the time I saw the text they were closed, and when I called them the next day they said the reservation was changed and there was nothing they could do. No apology, no suggestion of another location, no help at all.I’ve used this location several times with no problems, but because of this will not be using them again.

The employees were helpful, but not one of them (4 were in the store during my visit) was wearing a mask while I was there. I was concerned about Covid-19 being spread without proper precautions and almost left the store. I should not be risking my health to purchase moving supplies. This is the first time I ever rented a truck for moving and I’m super glad I choose this location. The staff was very friendly. They helped me set up an appointment pretty easily. Paid $900 to reserve a trailer, never received any notification that the location of the reservation was changed, never received a phone call the day before as my reservation indicated I would, and was unable to connect via phone with the store to discuss my reservation. Thankfully, after 20+ minutes of attempting to register for a broken app and waiting on the help line, customer service informed me of the changes to my reservation.

I came in when all of the computer systems were down. The general manager was munching on Doritos and never apologized for what was happening. Instead he said computers break down some times and nothing is perfect. Rather than stuffing his face with Doritos in front of customers and stating the obvious, he should have communicated to the people standing in line that they were working on the issue while directing customers to the closest functioning store.Hire a general manager with some humility and professionalism. This will in turn attract better staff and more positive reviews for this particular store.

Google seems to forget I reviewed this place but I have to commend them. They were able to find me a truck on short notice and didn’t charge me an arm and a leg to do it. The manager was helpful and professional. Someone came in while I was being helped and she was rude to him but he maintained his composure. I guess he must get that a lot when people don’t return vehicles on time and don’t expect to be charged.

Extremely nice staff made my first time renting a truck smooth and efficient. The truck had less than 6k miles, smelled brand new, was spotless, and had a rear back up camera that was super useful. At 1 am I had to extend my reservation by several hours and I was able to call the Uhaul Help line and extend it without any problems or extra charges. The after-hours self drop off option was also clutch.

I needed it within 18 hours and she gave me quite a few options but unfortunately it wasnt going to work for my schedule. The staff is wonderful. Even though I caught them on a bad day (over an hour late opening), the gentleman who opened up was a consummate professional. I was the first customer in line but never once did his stress from being under the gun ever reflect in the way he interacted with me. Even the next day the calm and responsive attitude amongst the staff was evident - one person started to check me in, ran off to take care of another customer and his teammate came in and finished working with me seamlessly. Amazing teamwork...so very much appreciated.

Nice staff, smooth rental process, though the wait was immensely long both in returning and renting the truck. I dont think Ill rent here again not because of the establishment, but because there was constantly a group of at least ten people that followed my car within an arm length and they constantly hounded me with questions about where Im moving and if they can help. The entire group watched me as I checked out my rental, and they wouldnt move out from in front of the vehicle until I asked them to multiple times. This group has been there every time I had driven past the building.

This is the most poorly run U-Haul location Ive ever encountered. They apparently dont keep their inventory updated, so the website allows people to book reservations for which there is no equipment.I made a reservation online to have a hitch installed and then drove 1.5 hours to this store. I arrived to find only one person working there and a line out the door. When I got to the counter, I was told they not only didnt have a hitch in stock to fit my car but didnt even have a mechanic there to install it. The gentleman behind the counter said he would issue a refund when he was done with his current customer, but never issued the refund. I just had to call U-Haul and American Express to make sure the transaction is refunded.He seems to take good care of other people though. One guy there opted not to buy the insurance on the cargo van he was renting, then went into the parking lot and hit another vehicle. He came in and reported it to the gentleman behind the counter, who took his paperwork back and added the insurance for him. The customer then walked into the parking lot and filed an insurance claim with U-Haul. Ironic this guy said he was understaffed because its hard to find good help, but hes probably costing U-Haul a fortune in lost business and fraudulent insurance claims. Unreal.

Tip: if doing online pick up (after youve made your reservation online), when the app tells you which truck is yours, the alpha numeric identifier they give you is NOT the license plate, its the identifier on the front of the truck. Also, the truck will not necessarily be in the area of the parking lot that the app says -- itll just be in the lot somewhere.

My daughter made a reservation for a rental truck at this office using the U-Haul app, and when she arrived to pick it up, they told her the truck was at a different office. The agent found a van in their inventory after my wife voiced dissatisfaction, but a company that doesnt honor its reservations as standard practice shouldnt be in business. I also didnt like the fact that my daughter wasnt allowed to leave her car on premises for the three hours it took to move her things.

Its a bit tight, especially when youre there during the busy times but they treat you right and without any hassles. Just have to make sure that they dont get all of their trucks rented out during the busy times (like Memorial day) when the truck you rent is no longer available.

We went here almost before they close, the guy in charge was sloooow asking his co-worker to bring a Pepsi, water, salt peanuts, and talking about personal issues, but...... after ask for a driver license, and credit card, and 48 clicks on the computer....... he did make sure we follow the safety procedures to have the truck for the journey and having a detailed description of the contract and status on the truck, even he walk out to make sure no issues with the truck after that he was even shaking hands and offer the manager number in case of emergency or questions

The manager Timothy Thomas is in the wrong business. Not only to be a manager, but to be an employee and represent Uhaul. He explained how I couldnt use cash, because he didnt want to go to the bank for a small transaction (personal problem). In addition to that, he was yelling at the customer next to me to select a time for a truck. Absolute horrible customer service. I ended up having to use my card, because of his horrible customer service. I am extremely dissatisfied with my encounter with him.On a different note there was a Michael Perry who was awesome and had wonderful customer service and another employee I didnt get his name. Please change this manage our for Michael. Nobody should have to experience that when trying to simply get supplies to move especially not a military member who serves in harms way to fight for this country!

The worst U-Haul I have ever seen. I lost my parking permit and was checking different locations to see where it was and I call these jerks and they said that they found one but they wouldn’t send a text or email of a photo. I needed a photo so I didn’t have to waste an hour and half on my time getting there. I had to call U-Haul customer service 5 times and this store kept giving me and U-Haul the ring around if they had it. I had to go there in person to find out that it was a different one. They didn’t send me a photo of it because they were “busy” for 6 hours straight. I wasted hours of my day because they were too lazy to confirm if the parking pass was mine or not. They do not deserve to be in business.

The woman working on 10-12-16 at 6pm closing forgot to give me my credit card back after we paid at 6.45pm. So we called the at 6.55pm, 5 min before closing informing her we will be there in 10 min. She said ok then proceeded to close anyway. She wouldnt wait 5 min for her mistake. And we drove back only to find her gone. THANKS! So now our company card is locked in a store and we cant use it for our company party tomorrow.Thank you so much for living up to expectation. I know that there arent many U-hauls around here, but this one seems a little crazy. When you pull up, day laborers start shouting at you, looking for work. Fine if you need it, but a little overwhelming as you try to park in the crowded lot, which was full when I went. There are about four spots, two of which are occupied by employees cars. Theres a few signs on the door about parking being only 15 minutes, or else you get towed. Seems unfair if the employees are taking up half the spots. The rest of the lot is overcrowded with poorly parked trucks. When I pulled in, the exit driveway was blocked with a truck. There was a line inside, and one guy helping people, three guys wandering around the parking lot. The people working were nice enough, but you could tell they didnt care what happened there. Theres a better U-haul on Rt 7 in Falls Church that wasnt mobbed with loitering guys when I drove past recently. Next time I need something, Ill go there.

Ive rented from them a half dozen times, twice this year. Lines are always long, takes 10-20 min. to get to the front. Front desk personel are OK, basically they do what they are supposed to do. The trucks are always great, clean, easy to drive, in fine mechanical shape. Once you are out on the lot the wait for your truck is short. The helpers on public space around the store can be annoying, but U-Haul has big signs not to deal with them and that they are in public, not on U-Haul property, therefore there is nothing they can do. Internet reservations are reliable and accurate. No BS on return with nit picking the truck. Overall just OK, shaky service in the store, good service on the lot, very good trucks and equipment.

I had an outstanding experience with this U-Haul center. I needed a hitch at the last minute (prior to a three-day weekend) and called the 800 number to find a hitch and installation center. The operator booked me at this location for first thing in the morning.I arrived at the store on this busy morning (since it was the end of the month and many folks were moving) and found that the staff was surprised about my booking. The operator had not checked with them nor had he flagged them to alert them about my appointment (which they usually do not do at the time I booked).Nonetheless, the staff handled the situation with aplomb. They took care of the customers renting trucks, introduced me to the gentleman (the manager, I think) who would be doing the install, and gave me an accurate estimate on the time needed for the install. Further, rather than push it back or tell me that Id need to come back another time, they took care of the installation on the spot and we left for our trip as scheduled.Because of the excellent customer service (particularly because it was given at a demanding time), I highly recommend this U-Haul shop and will choose them again should I need their services in the future.

Me and my husband came in today to get maybe about 50 boxes for our workers. Our boss had given us cash and you would think any U-haul would accept cash for just purchasing boxes. Wrong. And the sad part is, there was no sign anywhere indicating that cash wasnt accepted. Whats a little sadder is the guy seemed like he didnt want to help at all. Other than that, you have Spanish guys all standing outside, pretty much begging you for a job. Kinda makes you feel uncomfortable.

Ok experience. Truck was in good condition, they are low on supplies, and the workers in the shop seemed kind of lost. I also received a broken dolly that I was charged for. Called in to dispute the charge and the worker was abrupt and tried to talk me out of getting my refund. Not great. Not the worst.

I reserved a truck online and when I came to pick up I had a lot of difficulties which end up to cancellation .poor customer service .there is a third party movers running at the parking lot for $250 I dont know if its controlled and manage by Uhaul store manager .
