Jay is an honest mechanic. He won’t suggest work you don’t need. Prices are fair and he gets the work done on time. Recommend!

Stay away from this place.I came with my spare part and agreed with him about work price. However spare part that i brought was not good according to the owner of the business. To avoid ordering online, waiting time, and attempt fee for work, instead he offered to request spare part through his source. He did not say the price until work was done. Spare part that cost me $20-50, ended up with cost of $400. This guy is just an opportunist that exploiting the situation and to rip you off. He is not there to help you just to take advantage of you. DO NOT GO OVER THERE.

I came to get my car inspected. The service could have been better but they were nice enough. The line wasnt too long especially being almost the end of the month. It was basically what you would expect from an inspection.

I’m utterly disappointed. Stay away from this place. I went to this place to change my lights. My mother advised me to go elsewhere when she read the reviews on here. However, because I’ve been here before, I thought I had some report with these people. I was wrong. I was here to change my low beam light . The place my mother asked me to go to quoted me $75. But because I came here before, I trusted them. I should have never trusted them to begin with. He told me that changing my low beam would cost me $120 ( not bright enough). Then he told me I could get the LED light for $180. I told him I couldn’t afford it. After he opened my car, he said that my socket was burned and if he installed the new lights, it wouldn’t last. Everything, including the low beam light would cost me $218. I declined as I couldn’t afford it. Really. This is not for the LED lights. He said he’d see what he can do. He ended charging me $128.16 for the low beam light. When I was driving away that evening my lights were not working. I was so so upset. I can’t believe it I got ripped off like that. I should have gone to the other guy. You love and learn.Buyers, be aware. You deserve to go somewhere where you are respected, where honesty is valued. Not just for someone to see you as a dollar sign. They lost a loyal customer .

This shop is the best auto repair shop in Northern Virginia. Customer service and communication is top notch. They were able to fix an annoying ABS problem that others were not able to fix and kept me in the loop. I highly recommend. «:::P:::» «:::E:::» «:::R:::» «:::F:::» «:::E:::» «:::C:::» «:::T:::»

Jay Kim at Virginia Auto Repair has been incredible! Im on a tight budget and tend to be very untrusting of mechanics and up-selling things you dont need. Jay is honest about what work should be done and what can wait. Hes calm and will take the time to explain your options, and will even install customer-provided parts (order online, warranty restrictions apply). His prices are fair. As I said, Im weary of most mechanics, but I have absolute confidence in Jay. Highly recommended.

Jay and his crew worked very hard to get my car back on the road after I found and tried fixing an exhaust leak on my own. I supplied him with the replacement parts and he provided his expertise on replacing what was broken and suggesting minor maintenance items that would need addressing. His rate is very competitive for the area and I wouldnt hesitate to take my car back to him again in the future.

Outstanding service over multiple repairs on different cars. I have given up my mechanic work and let Jay take car of my cars now. Coming from someone with a background in cars and appropriate skepticism of bad shops; I trust his analysis and estimates. Great place to get the job done right without being over charged (yes this is a real customer).

This location has always been quick, efficient, and friendly. They tell me if theres anything extra beyond the oil change that might be needed, but never pressure me into having anything else done. They check my lights, wipers, fluids, etc.

If youre looking for a place to have honest work done on your car, DO NOT BRING IT HERE!!! I brought my car here earlier this year because it was misfiring, and I thought I had some kind or rapport with the owner since Ive been here a few times before. He ran a diagnostics and said that I needed to replace my spark plugs and the O2 sensor. I bought the parts myself and had him install them. Afterwards the car still misfired. He kept the car for an entire week. In this week, now, somehow, my car wont start. He ended up changing the battery, the fuel filter, and the starter. The car still didnt start, and he never called before changing any of these things, except the battery. Then, my car is now shooting oil out of the top of the engine. So, he also replaced the valve gasket, which didnt change anything because the car still didnt start. I ended up paying this crook $1100 for misdiagnosing my car and changing a bunch of stuff I didnt ask him to change, and wasnt needed. Because of this I ended up having to get my entire engine replaced at the dealership due to his neglect and lack of knowledge on my vehicle.

Buyer Beware!!!! Make sure you get a written estimate. My girlfriend went because her engine light was on. Jay (the owner) said it would be $700 for a rear catlalytic converter. She picked the car up and the bill was $1700.00. He never called her just did extra work. She paid and drove about 20 miles and the light came back on. She brought the car back and he said he would take care of it but she needed some extra work. He quoted her $400 . When she picked up the car the bill was over $700. He said she needed a bunch of critical things (look at bill $330 dollar test). So she paid. She drove about five miles and the light came back on. It was late Saturday afternoon and she brought the car back. He acted concerned and said bring it back and he said a coil was bad (singular). He said he would not charge any labor and change the coil and flush the transmission for eighty bucks. So she brought the car back today and said 80 bucks right. He said yep. So we just went to pick the car up and the bill was just under $400. I went with her and asked to see the estimate or when he called her to say it was going to cost more. He never did. I had him take out the parts he put in. He called his guy over and it took him less than five minutes to reverse $400 dollars of work. Her e are the first 2 bill. The only thing OKd was the rear catalytic. Look at the second bill. She brought the car back because the light came on and he charged over $300 for a test to see what he messed up!Over $300 for a test to see what he messed up. Over $400 in labor for 2 belts!! Over $300 for a test to see what he messed up. Over $400 in labor for 2 belts!! Over $300 for a test to see what he messed up. Over $400 in labor for 2 belts!!Only OKD converter Only OKD converter
