First off, this co. contacted ME to say they owed me a maintenance VISIT based on a service agreement from a year before!The service rep (Kameron) kept me informed of his ETA and showed up on time. Went about his business and explained to me what and why additional maintenance/repair was needed. He showed me the parts and the damage to them.Bottomline, I was completely satisfied with the service provided, AS WELL AS the professionalism of the service rep AND the office personnel.If you want to feel like you’re in good hands...use them!

I had a checkup on my a/c today amen everything was fine. The gentleman who came was very nice and professional. He gave me a lot of information for my a/c now and in the future. I have been using this company for over 5 years and am very happy with them. Great service.

This company was dispatched for a second opinion with my AHS warranty. I spoke with Illiana initially and thought that they were a good company. When I called to get a status update, she had Kevin call who was the person who went to our home to look at the unit and diagnose. When we spoke he told me that he would recommend that the unit be replaced as we both agreed that the unit was completely rusted out and not cooling the home. He did mention that he didnt know what AHS would come back with since the unit is still functioning. To define functioning, it is running, but not cooling, which to me means it is not working correctly and needs to be either repaired or replaced. I called AHS to see what Independent Air actually turned in as a diagnosis. They said that Kevin called in that the owner wants a new unit because hers is rusted and lives on the beach but he couldnt find anything wrong with the unit. He even said that if the portable unit we installed wasnt in the home, our tenant would be extremely hot. Yes, I did say that the proper repair would be to replace the unit as AHS has been putting bandaids on the unit for years. The unit is not cooling the home by about 15 degrees of the thermostat setting. This company basically wasted another week of my time when I could have called out another company who would already have replaced the unit by now. My suggestion to all is to NEVER use this company or have an AHS policy. I would bet any amount of money that had I called this company out not through AHS they would be selling me a brand new unit lightening fast!

Ive used Corman and Son (Independent Air) for about 20 years. Their customer service is great and they’re very responsive in getting a tech to the house when needed. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Kim went out of her way to find all the information on my newer A/C & heat pump. It was purchased and installed by someone who is since deceased. Not only did Kim find the paperwork, but also determined the parts were still under warranty! Just labor to fix. Saved me literally a thousand dollars or more. The current owners come highly recommended by the long ago owner - Chuck - (you old timers know him) and they did not disappoint. Back to handling all my properties !!

Im not impressed. They guy showed up with alcohol on his breath. He wasnt slurring his speach or teetering but still clear as day he had drank hard liquor at lunch. He went out to his van and came back in with a mint so his partner must have told him. He was very knowledgeable and was eager to educate me which I appreciated. He gave me a verbal quote. I was told I would receive a written quote via email. Its been a week and still nothing. I even emailed them asking for the quote. Still nothing. I had planned to hire them for the job but now Im moving on.

Independent Air and Heat is wasted money and time. If you want quality & professional service for your money Independent Air and Heat are not, I repeat are not, the air conditioner service providers for you. If you value your money and time Independent Air and Heating are not, I repeat are not, a good choice. My inside unit (handler) and outside unit (compressor) were not coming on when I adjusted the thermostat. Independent Air and Heat receptionist informed me that I would be charged a diagnostic fee of $79 due upon arrival. I asked if that fee covered the service technician determining exactly what was wrong with the system and was told that it did. However, while the technician was checking the system, after each step, he informed me that there would be an additional charge before he could move to the next step in his checklist. Bottom line 2 hours and $500 later, the air conditioner was still not operational, the technician could not tell me what was wrong with the system and recommended I purchase a whole new system from their business for $5000; which would not include replacing the duct work. This company is a very, very, very POOR use of your money.

ONLY GAVE ONE STAR SO I COULD POST: WOULD GIVE THEM A NEGATIVE 3 IF I HAD A CHOICE: I needed unit installed: got fast service: once unit was in and working and they had my money forget it: Today (7/9/16) I called at 4:00 for service as my unit which was put in in Jan of 2016 is not working: Here it is 10:30 and I am still without A/C and no phone call. And they are not open on Sunday to spend time with their family! Well, I would love to spend time with my family as well, in a home with A/C that works which they put in and is paid for, but I can not. I am sure they are. VERY UNHAPPY Do not call for service:

We had a lightning strike on the 4th that took out our new A/C. We endured several days of old Florida July. Mindy and Jerry and worked as quickly as Trane parts allowed. Mindy made several trips between Orlando and Ocala to save shipping time on $3,000 worth of parts! They were great! Thankfully, we are cool. Now we wait to see what our homeowners insurance offers???

They did my 6 month services on Saturday and nothing was wrong. Now Sunday (the next day) it is not working. Called and requested service. I called them at the 2 hour mark (since did not get a call) and stated they are waiting on a technician to call in. Now at three and a half hours, again no call back or anything, w called them and got there answering machine.

Independent Air has been keeping our Trane AC system running for the past several years with annual PMs. During the last PM on May 2, 2017 the technician replaced a faulty part, and the system that was placed in service in 1985 continues to run. This company has been completely honest with us and has never tried to pressure us into buying a new system. I would highly recommend to anyone that they retain the services of this company to conduct regular preventative maintenance services.

Will rate higher if and only if:·Tools left behind by Tech are removed·A check delivered for use of wifes mobile phone by the Tech during troubleshooting process clears the bank.·Metal shelf holding 2 computers, 2 aerial photography drones, surveillance DVR, flat screen monitor, and a large quantity of electronic repair parts damaged by Tech is repaired or replaced.·Landlord is reimbursed a large portion of the $300 invoice to tighten circuit breaker screw (Unit installed by Independent Air, under warranty)· A routine AC maintenance check is preformed since unit is freezing up (outside temp: 74°, unit set to: 71° filter is clean as always)Otherwise Independant Air will not be allowed back on site, referred to friends and family, or the rating changed unless all bullet points are addressed in person with a reasonable explanation.

I am an HVAC technician in Austin, Texas. My mother lives in Altoona. She called me a few days ago (5 June 2015) because her AC quit working. She described a few of the symptoms over the phone and I made a loose diagnosis based on what she was telling me. She said she was going to call Harris AC because they installed it. I said okay, but I asked her to call me when the AC guy was there so I would know what the issue was. Fast forward to Friday, 5 June 2015. Harris sent a technician out and gave her his diagnosis. She called me to let me know everything was okay. I asked what he found and what he was doing to fix it. She relayed the information she was provided, The coil is frozen the guy said, and he is adding some Freon right now. I asked, How long has he been there? She told me less than 15 minutes.Friends and neighbors, that is bad. It takes more than 15 minutes to thaw a frozen coil, and charging a unit when it is frozen is a guaranteed way to over charge the unit. This is HVAC 101. I got on the phone to tell the guy to not add any refrigerant and asked him some very technician specific questions about his trouble-shooting procedures. As a supervisor and a 15 year technician I can tell you without a doubt that he made up his answers. Thats fine, one bad tech doesnt mean a bad company. I made a phone call to Harris and asked to speak with the Service Manager. The person that answered made the mistake of defending his actions as common practice stating, We normally add a couple of pounds to a frozen system to get them by until we can return.By this point youre thinking, Whats the big deal with a couple of pounds of refrigerant? Well, in this case the refrigerant is R-22 which is currently being sold to the customer at rates exceeding 25 dollars a pound. I asked for the owner to call me back, and I have yet to hear from them. To make matters worse, he told my mother at noon on Friday that the wouldnt be able to get back until possibly Wednesday, he told me late Monday, and the Service Manager in the office essentially told me my mother and I were lying about that.So why is this relevant to a review on Independent Air? Well, I decided that since Harris couldnt be bothered to call me back and explain what happened, I decided to look for a HVAC company myself. I called Independent Air in Eustis and talked with their dispatch/receptionist and EVNE SHE KNEW NOT TO CHARGE A FROZEN SYSTEM. They had a technician out next day, Edgar I believe. He was a very knowledgeable technician that was able to answer every question I had. My Mom is back up and cooling, and I have comfort knowing that Independent Air will be going back out anytime there is an issue. I would 100% recommend this company to anyone in the area, and as a supervisor, I would hire anyone with Independent Air on their resume.
