I was in town with my family for a mini vacation. We stopped by New York Lunch East Ave for dinner and we are so glad we did.We were welcomed like family as soon as we entered and was even introduced to several regulars from the neighborhood.My oldest daughter enjoyed the All Day Breakfast special and my youngest enjoyed her hot dog so much she got another one.I enjoyed three Greek Dogs and the meal was finished off with two huge milkshakes the family split.What a wonderful place! We were even invited to the owners mother birthday party the next day! This will become a regular stop any timeI am in Erie!
Everyone is very nice. They have fast service and the food is awesome.
Aweful experience its definitely not how it used to be! Ordered no onions & got triple onion. Buns were so soggy hotdogs were falling out. Fries were undercooked & cold. burger bun had to throw away from Greece. They gave me old wilted brown lettuce on my gyro!
This place is an Erie treasure, great food at great prices. Excellent falafel!!! Super yummy 😋. Cant wait to go back, I highly recommend you visit this local food spot for your next lunchtime meal.
I couldn’t possibly say enough about the ORIGINAL New York Lunch. It’s literally my favorite place to eat in Erie. If I come to town, I go to NYL!I’m always greeted by Nina’s warm smile greeting me by name and Gus’ jolly welcome.I’ve been through the entire menu. I’m completely hooked on Greek burgers and the wings. DoYou miss old fashioned milkshakes? Well, stop on in!I could go on and on. The only thing is take cash. They only accept a cash. No big deal as they do have an ATM.Check Apple/Google maps to see hours and if open, give them a call to ensure open (even if Online says closed), Stop in and enjoy!

Excellent Greek food. Just picked up a couple of quarts of their sauce to take to Florida with me. Add some Urbaniaks ox roast, some Stagnellis pepperoni balls, and a bag of sponge candy, and you have a nice Erie package for those who used to live here.

Got NY lunch through Grubhub app and ordered a gyro and some cheese fries to share with my son. The gyro was massive and pretty decent however the cheese on the fries was spicy and nowhere on the menu did it specify this. My son didn’t eat them or really anything bc his mouth was burning after the first bite. Just please mark them spicy so other people know.

Food has really declined. Flew 2500 miles to eat this food. I was greatly disappointed. Never went back for more.

OMG best Greek food and gyros in the whole state of PA!!!! Probably the whole United States really!! Steve and Nina are the masters who started this place years and years ago and their love of it shows in every bite you take of their food. They know their customers and if your new they will get to know you. Such a great spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner! They have old photos of old Erie up and it all just makes you feel like sitting in your grandmas kitchen. The server and cooks are excellent and make you feel great and at home. Their son Gus brings they place into the neewer times yet still making it all feel the same and loves to talk and joke with all the customers as well!! I hope they never close I would be devestated.
Been coming here since I was a child. Now that I live in Cleveland, OH I always make sure that I stop in to eat here when I come back to visit family in Erie, Pa. Great prices! Great service! Great memories! If your visiting Erie, Pa for the first time, please make sure to stop by this historic staple of food awesomeness! The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years, but the food in this place has always been fantastic. Theyve updated the inside of the restaurant and it looks great!

Great sauce on Smiths hot dogs really hit the spot before the hockey game. Fries stayed crispy under the Greek sauce. Attentive service during our meal. Overall, an awesome rxperience.

I was there today and watched the white dude with the glasses drop some chicken tenders on the floor. He stopped and picked up with his right hand and still gave the ones in the left hand to the cook. I figured he was going to change his gloves....NOPE!!!! He continued to work. So I told the lady (owner) I wanted my refund. And she said No!WHAT? So I told her what happened and she still said No!She told me to stand outside. And then she finally gave me my money.

I had several pleasant surprises visiting New York Lunch. It was my first visit to the East Ave New York Lunch, and I was greeted so warmly by Lena, like a long lost family member. What a sweet person, I kind of fell in love with the place just meeting her. East Avenue has been run down for awhile, but inside New York Lunch the place is very bright, clean and attractive. I didnt get the name of the young lady on the grill, but she was right. She said I was going to really like my Greek burgers. I make my own Greek sauce at home, but I have no problem admitting theirs is much better. It was a little more peppery than I expected, but thats a good thing. You dont want a bland Greek sauce. I told Lena that I always wanted to try the place. Im 53 and it was my first visit, and she asked me what took so long. My parents were customers, but I was raised on the West side (Millcreek) and they never took us there. Then I left Erie after graduation. I returned to Erie a few years ago and Im finally checking out the food institutions that are left. New York Lunch (East Ave) is one of them. All I ordered on this visit was a couple of Greek Burgers. I didnt expect much because Ive had other Greek burgers from several places around town. I dont want to disparage anyone so I wont name names, but the East Avenue New York Lunch is the best. As I said the sauce was spicy and not overly greasy (it is a Greek burger), and tasted fantastic. The great thing about a good Greek burger is how it comes together and takes you back to simpler times. Its comfort food. Ill be back for more next time. If you havent been there, dont wait as long as I did.
