New little gem in Erie! I went there for lunch, the restaurant is beautiful! I really love the interior, clean and well decorated. The menu is big, with different options such as salads, sandwiches, soups, Italian items and gorgeous desserts. The food tasted fresh and delicious. The focaccia wasnt as soft, airy and moist as it should be, but the waiter even asked for suggestions (I am Italian and a baker). This means they want to improve! The porchetta was amazing, really tasty and juicy, not dry at all. I wish them all the best, Erie needs more places like Alkeme!
Menu items reflected Cinco de Mayo style and tastes. They had lots of specials but still had their regular menu. I ordered the waffles with grilled pineapple and peaches. Delicious! My sweetie got the Cinco de Mayo special of grilled shrimp with red peppers and risotto. Service was good although we felt in the way of a large group that formed after we were seated. Recommend
Eric is a great waiter. We had a reservation and he seated us immediately, expecting us by our name! He was knowledgeable about the menu and knew how to handle dietary restrictions. Their sangria was amazing. Plenty of vegetarian options. Quantity was perfect for sharing.
Such a great little spot! The food was wonderful and our server, Shay, took spectacular care of us. The pasta was hand made. My Greek salad tasted incredibly fresh and vibrant. If I ever find myself in Erie again I will definitely return here.
My husband and I come to Erie a lot and when we are there we always dine her, always excellent service and food. We have always taken friends and clients here to dine because you are never disappointed
A small, personable restaurant that offers a wide variety of dishes using locally grown ingredients. The staff are passionate about the connection between community and food.
Mediterranean food and service here is very good. There was quick, helpful, and friendly service. Mood here reminds me of Colorado Springs area.
Simple and delicious menu, but varied as well. Good for sampling outside your comfort zone.
Holy cow it was delicious. Rosemary pork chop with grilled pear fantastic! Wife had pasta and meatballs also fantastic. We cannot wait to go back. Also our server Shea was great.
Pleasantly surprised by the selection on the menu.. mediterranean, italian, indian and nepalase light fare side by side. It would make you wonder, well...they have everything under the sun meaning nothing is going to be too good.. to our surprise, both the nepalese Momos and the root arugula salad turned out authentic, fresh and tasty. A slight bit expensive, but totally worth the tasty food.the ambiance and the owners attention to their customers.
A preferred site for Mediterranean food. It was so delicious. The staff was very welcoming and sociable. This place has a great atmosphere.
Nice restaurant with unique decor & changing menu items. It can be a little pricey for two entrees with a full bottle of wine but its worth the experience for a date night with your significant other. Our visit was in December so we could see the Christmas decorations in Perry Square from our table. Definitely recommend for a special occasion or to try something different.
Very nice atmosphere. Server was friendly and polite. Bruchette appetizer was delicious, and so was the daily catch fish dinner that I had (cant remember the name of it). Highly recommend!
This is a wonderful, small, Med- themed restaurant across from a quiet park in downtown Erie. There were several daily specials and all 3 of us enjoyed a variety. I had the grilled lamb chops on goat-cheese ravioli, yum. The dessert variety was excellent. Certainly will be back.
First time eating here. Great food! Love the decor! Friendly staff! Sara was an amazing waitress! Will def be back!
I want to start off by saying that I was HIGHLY disappointed! I ordered a ricotta gnocchi. It was not warm, and it was VERY salty. When I say salty, I want the reader to imagine drinking a cup of water straight from the Great Salt Lake. Yes, it was that bad! I could feel my blood pressure sky rocket, and I dont even have high blood pressure problems! That meal was not worth my money. $22 dollars gone down the drain! Jimmy Johns is way better, and it is one-fifth the price. I was dissatisfied. This is just my OPINION and experience. I put opinion in all caps because I know those dont exist in 2019! Peace, Im out!
Unique and stylish. Great menu selections. Intimate atmosphere. Maroccan lamb was amazing! Lobster gumbo was a bit fatty and spicy to my taste. They serve tasty water - not tap, thats a big thing to me!
Delectable eats with a friendly atmosphere. Theyve done a good thing in spicing up that part of town.. It is *the* spot for parties, dates, and solo dining. Nowhere I know offers fresher, realer foodstuffs! They even support local farms and have a diverse staff that groks with their truly hip atmosphere. 4 stars because it’s a bank buster :(
Absolutely incredible!Went for brunch. Their eggs in purgatory (eggs in a basket with homemade sourdough over spicy tomato sauce) might be my new favorite breakfast food. The quiche of the day was perfectly seasoned, the chocolate French toast was actually crispy, the salad dressing had just enough feta. We had three deserts, all to die for.I know they rotate the menu regularly, so this information may be out of date by the time you read it, but rest assured, this kitchen knows what theyre doing.
I went here for a group dinner and had a fantastic experience.Appetizer: I had fried risotto balls with pesto aioli. They were absolutely delicious. Extremely rich and cheesy. My friend had mussels that were in a garlic, red pepper sauce, they were also delightful.Entree: I had ricotta gnocchi in an arugula pesto sauce. It was good, but not what I was expecting. The gnocchi was more like a dumpling, in my opinion. They were very soft and not terribly flavorful. The pesto sauce was very good though.Dessert: I had chocolate mousse which was very good (although not quite as thick as I like my mousse), but I was too full to finish. It was a very nice and peaceful environment. My only complaint was that it was rather slow, but I was there with a large party, so it is understandable.
The food, atmosphere, and service at Alkeme are all outstanding. Ive tried several dishes and each has far exceeded my expectations. Simply put this is one of the best restaurants in Erie, dont miss out!
From homemade pasta to truly unique soups and quiches, Alkeme always provides delicious food in a warm welcoming environment. I go every Saturday for lunch and have enjoyed it every time. I highly recommend this restaurant!
One of my preferred places for tasty Mediterranean food. its so delicious. it has a cool interior.
Wonderful food at a fabulous location with an upscale comfortable Mediterranean atmosphere. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for our server. He seemed grumpy to us and heard him complaining to another table how tired he is of all this same food the restaurant has. When we had to track him down (he did not ask how our food was or if we needed anything else) to ask for vinegar he looked confused. My fiancé started listing various vinegars saying we would like any kind but the first he listed was malt. The waiter, appalled said we don’t have malt vinegar! This is not a pub! He ended up bringing us red vinegar. Later he came back and asked if the vinegar “made our food better”. He pretty much ruined the atmosphere of the yummy beautiful lunch for us.
Good scene for tasty Mediterranean food. Stopped in on a Monday I think. The bill was reasonable. This place has many good reviews for a reason.
Since the switch in owners the food quality and customer service has gone down. The menu leaves out important ingredients on items, the grilled vegetable sandwich comes with ricotta cheese which is not listed on the menu. As someone with lactose intolerance it ruined my lunch. Hoping the location improves over the coming months.
Nice little gem in the city of Erie. Their food and service had always been great. Their risottos and desserts are what we always come back for, but they have excellent foods. As far as I know, everything is made from scratch in house, including all the bread, pasta, and yummy desserts. Their mushroom risotto is what my 3yo loves and asks for.
First time there. Had a lamb and ravioli special and it was fanfreakintastic. Wife had salmon and gnocchi and that was really good too. Would go back in a heart beat. Price is fine dining but food was super good. Owner was very personable and even helps his wait staff bus tables. Can tell he really cares.
Service was good, food veru good using a lot of fresh ingredients. Has outside dining with view of a park across the street. On hot days and if you sit inside, the bar side is a little warm, cooler in side dining room. Prices are high for Erie but worth the food adventure.
Stopped in Friday evening for cocktails and they were well made. Staff was friendly. Chatted with the manager or owner and mentioned we were looking for a breakfast spot for Sunday morning. He told us that they served brunch at 11 and made it sound amazing. Arrived Sunday morning to a No Brunch Today - Gone Fishing sign. Im all for fishing, but thats not how you run a business. Went to another location Erie restaurant and had an amazing breakfast... Found my Erie breakfast spot.
A beautiful place for lunch. Really fancy food. Bit expansive for Erie but worth it. Highly recommended.
Waiter was very nice and attentive. Well priced for what we got for food. The pasta was fresh, but was cooked a bit al dente for my taste. Food was also a bit heavy on the pepper side but I still enjoyed it. Better then any typical chain you would go to! Highly recommend and I definitely plan on going back!
Incredible! The pasta with banana peppers, artichokes, and tomatoes, in a light red sauce was unbelievable. Honestly one of the best dishes Ive ever had. I could drink this sauce!
Had Risotto w scallops. Very Tasty. Mussels nice and spicy w garlic. Octopus salad w vinagrette perfect. Raspberry pear tart not too sweet like most American deserts. Will definitely come back to discover new flavors.
Delicious food, great service from Eric, and a wonderful atmosphere!
Mediterranean food... super delicious. got there near seven, it wasnt very crowded. looking forward to a return trip. the place has a nice atmosphere.
Risotto ans Chicken Pasta Alfredo were excellent. So was the service. The mango pie, however, was not. The setting is nice, it was home to Bertrands Bistrot on the past, and we were fond of it
One of my favorite restaurants in Erie. Alkeme is a great place for lunch or dinner. They have homemade pastas, different risottos everyday, homemade soups, fresh desserts and coffee. The staff is amazing (especially Julie and Barbara) and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. I highly recommend Alkeme to anyone looking for a great place to eat in Erie.
I have never had a bad experience here! The food is well prepared and the flavors are INCREDIBLE. You a truly missing out if you don’t try this restaurant, lunch or dinner!
Great food, nice ambience. The gnocchi was fabulous. And their homemade nectar drinks are a must try
First time eating here. Tthe portions and flavors were delightful! Nice family atmosphere. Our waiter was perfect. Thank you!
Met the chef as I walked in the door, he was very helpful when I told him I was vegan and asked if there were items on the menu that could be altered a bit. He told me he used vegetable stock in the veggie risotto plus other items could be made to my preferences like salad with no cheese etc. The food is so flavorful.. Very fresh Everything is made to order. Delicious!
Great scene for delicious mediterranean food. You wont be disappointed in the menu and service. Looking forward to a return trip. Prices were appropriate.
Food and service were excellent. Need a few more gluten free options.Plan to go back!
The food here was delicious, the space itself is cozy and very pleasant, and the service was great! One of the best places in Erie by far.
Greeting was friendly and welcoming. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Both times Ive been the food was good. Second time the waiter was just ok. The first time wait staff was excellent. Ill be going back.
Interesting menu and decor, as well as fine service make this place a stand out. Where drinks are concerned, the lavender martinis and white sangria were a hit with our table. A more substantial, crusty bread for sopping up the remnants of the mussels or caprese salad would have better suited me. We will definitely hit this place again when we are in the area.
One of my favorite spots for mediterranean food. Next time Ill be back with my coworkers. Food is like a restaurant in Louisville I loved.
Crab risotto was great! Great service. Little pricey but delicious none the less...
Was very good. I had the risotto with scallops and it was the best risotto, I have ever tasted. My husband had the sea bass...which I wasnt to impressed with but he was...so I guess it deserves 5 stars, too. Hostess was a little off putting but our server was excellent.
The food is excellent and fresh.
Went to Alkeme on a Saturday afternoon. The service was amazing, the chef and waitress were very personable. The chef made the best food I have had in a long time!!! I will definately make this place a regular establishment!
My preferred place for delicious mediterranean food. The bill was fair for the quality of the food.
Its all about the braised pork and meatballs. I am very picky about meatballs made by others, not to mention pasta sauce too, but Alkeme did me right in both of those areas. Their menu always has fresh, local ingredients, which make for a delicious meal, or two since the portions are big! If youve never been, it is definitely worth your time!
Unique and savory dishes.Great service.
I moved to Erie from Los Angeles and have been pleasantly surprised by Alkeme. The food never disappoints and staff is great! Hands down best restaurant in Erie by far!
Great food! Unique presentation. Had the shrimp salad special.
Is a cozy place, the food is delicious. I love the hummus with the marinated tomatoes and the desserts are so good. The chef is the best!!
Found this place just be checking out listings. Meal was very good. Service good and nice place.
I had a wonderful caprese salad appetizer with a kale, bacon, and some potato-esque soup, an angel hair pasta dish with crab, artichokes, spicy banana peppers and roasted tomatoes, and for desert a peach-cranberry tart.Overall an excellent meal, though the entree left something to be desired with the presentation.I will be back.
Ok place for tasty mediterranean food. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. Next time Ill be back with my friends. It has a nice interior. Similar to a place in Denver I liked.
At first I wasn’t sure about this place when I first walked in the door. Later on after our table was ready that this place wasn’t so bad. It had quite comfy seats. Now where this place is amazing is there root beer only 100 calories but a wonder how that is even possible. Next the music was kind of weird but that’s understandable because everyone has a different taste of music. A couple minutes passed and that’s when I see it. A fly Flying right past my face. This fly later flew away but I was NOT happy about that. The service was nice which was good and the spaghetti was outstanding. Except there’s one thing that keeps me from making this a 5 star. While typing this review I looked around the restaurant to see if I’m missing anything. I spot something out of the center of my eye. They also spilled the water 2 tunes in a row but that comes with time. In all you should give this place a try if you like root beer. Hopefully next time there won’t be any flys in front of my face.
Cozy little place with a great $10 blue plate special for lunch. Waiter was attentive and friendly.
Fantastic place. I loved it so much I broke one of my cardinal rules while traveling...I dont typically eat at the same place more than once during the same trip but I absolutely HAD to come back. Dont miss out on the amazing food, service and atmosphere. Save room for dessert!!
Good music. Good atmosphere. Bad food. Ironic, since this is a restaurant. Had Bruchetta and grilled chicken salad. Bruchetta was slathered with cold, day old pasta sauces. Grilled chicken was not edible. Tasted like kerosene.
Amazing food and drinks! Great atmosphere! Fantastic service!
Absolutely delectable food, and wonderful servers! Just had the crab corn chowder! Definitely get the strawberries Napoleon for dessert!!
Half the tables food came out cold, one item came out 10minutes after everything else and was still not hot, missing sides, had to take silverware from another table...Food tasted fine but everything else brought the experience down significantly.
Dinner last night was wonderful! Fantastic staff and delicious food!
Exceptional service.. delicious food.. European-style cafe atmosphere!
Awesome. Great ambiance and fantastic food n drinks.
Food was delicious, good wine, and the staff was great
Truly a refreshing institution to find here in Erie. Stellar brunch today, crepes with wild mushroom and gruyere were life changing. Will definitely be coming back here for dinner next.
Delicious risotto and shrimp dinner! Great atmosphere! Will definitely be back!
We love this place. The daily specials are great!
Superb customer service, food, drinks and atmosphere!! Highly recommended!
The menu is so different from other restaurants in town..so flavorful and delicious
Great service, atmosphere, and food..
The BEST meal I have had in ages! Absolutely fantastic homemade pasta and atmosphere.... desserts are to die for.
Good food, nice atmosphere. Service was good too.
The food was the best Ive ever had
Great food and exceptional service. Very accommodating will definitely return.
Fantastic restaurant! Best brunch in Erie! Seems as if we’ve been transported to Boston!
This was the first time my boyfriend and I were trying this restaurant and we wont be back. We arrived and we did not have reservation; we were told our only option was the bar or to come back another time. Therefore, we sat at the bar. It took 10 minutes to get a glass of water, and another 5 minutes to have our appetizer order taken. Then, another 10 minutes for our main dish order to be taken. When the appetizer arrived it was barely warm. We ordered the risotto balls and they were lack luster, the risotto was mush and they were filled with feta cheese. I wish that we were told that when we ordered them because we would not have ordered them if we knew. For my main dish I got the fresh ricotta gnocchi and it horrible. It should not be called a gnocchi because that is not what it was, it was a dumpling. The dumpling was firm on the outside and a raw consistency on the inside, it did not taste like anything besides flour. My boyfriend also tried it and said it was horrible. I ended up not eating much and for almost 20 dollars it was a waste. My boyfriend ordered the crab cake and grilled corn salad, which did not arrive at the same time as mine. It took another 10 minutes or so for his meal to be brought out. When it finally arrived we found there to be no corn. He recieved a crab cake on top of a spinach salad with mango, and cucumber. Thats all. No corn. If you are going to advertise that it is a crab cake with a grilled corn salad you may want to put corn in it or change the name of the dish. The most disgusting part other than the food was how ever dirty glass was placed next to us where we were sitting at the bar. Please do not have dirty dishes next to were you are surviving food, also mixing fresh drinks that were just made in with the dirty dishes for them to be taken to peoples tables. There should be a designated location for this, and it is away from customers. It was a horrible experience and for almost 50 dollars with a tip was a waste. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Interesting fresh menu, great specials, fresh cocktails, and great staff!
Delicious and very reasonably priced lunch options! So happy to have a modern, Italian cafe in downtown erie. I recommend the sandwiches on freshly made focaccia bread.
Excellent. Staff is very attentive, great service, delicious food.
A unique, delicious alternative to the bland & boring... Best $10 blue plate lunch downtown! Great atmosphere and staff.
Awesome food and great service! Love the selection of soups!
Well priced, great service, and locally owned. What else could you ask for? Theres personality in the decor and the envrionment is so tasteful... the foods even better! The wine selection is fabulous and the bartender makes a great cocktail. I cant believe this place exists in erie!!
Overpriced and underwhelming. The second time I got maybe 9 dollars worth of rissoto for I believe 14+. It was also soggy and bland. The first time I went I got an eggplant sandwich that seemingly had enough oil to last long john silvers a week. Contacted the owner on Facebook and she was uninterested. Wont be going back.Edit: after reading the response of the restaurant Im dropping this to one star. I know how food is supposed to taste and have had risotto from far better restaurants than this one, risotto that has actually had flavor and as for the response on the eggplant it was not like any eggplant should ever be, the amount of oil rendered it inedible and the way I was talked down to at the end of the response showed that Im pretty much not welcome there.
Great atmosphere and the food is always delicious!
Love the food and fabulous care I receive from the staff.
Very pleased with my experience, in particular our server Shay who did so well with our large group andasking for a substite for polenta due to dietary restrictions. Cooks did an awesome job, thank-you!
Delicious menu items for every foodie, great wine pairing, lovely desserts, and fabulous host! Hope to see Erie and eat here again!
The food is really good. The portion to cost ratio isnt very good, but still worth the visit.
