I ordered single origin Tanzania Peaberries and that is what the package said that I got. Inside however I found just the ordinary bigger flat sided beans (bulk on the right in the picture). The flattened side of ordinary coffee beans results from the fact that 2 beans grow within a single berry. Real peaberries (left on the picture - NOT from Out of The Grey Coffee) are typically smaller and with a round shape - distinct from ordinary beans, resulting from the fact that only one bean grows in a berry - that simple fact makes a peaberry - a peaberry. The Shipment was also accompanied by lots of religious blessings. So I felt I was supposed to *believe* that the coffee they have shipped to me was in fact peaberries from Tanzania. But here I failed - I do not believe. About the roast I can say it was as expected a medium roast but on the darker bolder side with slightly oily beans. For real Tanzania coffee (sorry to say it again: I do not believe Ive gotten this) I prefer the light to medium roast resulting in light brown not oily peaberry beans. The taste: not like Tanzania coffee - more like a Pike Place form the Starbucks around the corner like a good Columbian coffee. - I give three stars because I will end up drinking the coffee (I had way worse) but would I reorder? - I dont think so.
