This restaurant was okay. We did takeout. The ambiance of the restaurant was so beautiful and filled with the Syrian culture. The beef kabob was dry. Everything else was good. Prices are reasonable. Will be back again. I loved the kibbah and the chicken kabob.

Food was obviously microwaved based on how hard/texture of the cheese in one of the dishes. One of the cups for a dipping sauce was placed inside another cup, when I separated the two cups, there was old sauce inside the second one. I truly wonder if they reused something destined for the garbage. Other than that....friendly service for sure, and unique ambiance in Historic Ellicott City.*This review is specifically for Syriana Cafe in Ellicott City. (In response to reply below)

I came here with my friends for my birthday. We didnt plan on coming here but wanted to try it out. Like many places in Old Ellicott City, this place is pretty small, but they offer outdoor dining. It is a self-serviced restaurant. The food is great and fulfilling.

If you are looking for a foodie experience, I would say the Syriana Cafe and Gallery is a great option! It consist of 3 little floors with tables on each and displays for authentic Syrian items, which can also be purchased. The food is authentic and traditional along with being very delicious! The foodie experience really comes with the Turkish coffee -- they are the coffee for you in a display which is really cool to watch. Overall, I would recommend coming here while in old Ellicott city. You wont be disappointed!

I saw good reviews for falafel from this restaurant and decided to get some for breakfast today. I honestly was very disappointed! The falafel was not fresh and did not taste good. Fresh falafel has a nice crisp crunch on the exterior and is nice and soft from the inside. The falafel from the cafe was cold, very soft on the outside and would crumble as soon as I held it. The inside was not fried well and tasted like undercooked garbanzo beans. I got 8 pieces and they were all the same. Again, Not a fresh falafel. Will never go there for falafel again.

Such a homey, cozy place to visit/coffee/eat/work/meditate. So sad I didnt have enough time to stay had to only pass by it on my road trip but managed to get some coffee and lovely pastries while also taking those nice pics. But will definitely try to come back some day with friends and spend more time. People who love learning about cultures or want a little Syrian get away will love this place. Good selection of souvenirs also available for purchase over there! Highly recommend.

The coffee, pastries and desserts are great, but the meals could use a little more spice/flavor IMO. Definitely worth a try, would recommend you asking for more seasoned food if your know thats how you like it.They take COVID safety seriously here. No mask, no service. Each table is sectioned off with plexiglass walls and air filters. 5 starts for safety!

Charming place with decent food. We ordered a grilled platter. The meats, beef and chicken, were a little dry and bland but the tabouli was excellent. The woman who staffed the place was fantastic. We wanted to sit outside; when she went to turn on the heater, it was out of fuel so my husband helped her switch out the tank and she gave us free desserts.

Amazing Syrian spot - the ground floor is beautiful but the really amazing stuff happens upstairs, where they have a large seating area and 3rd floor gallery with chess tables and carpets and a movie screening area. Amazing to see this sort of thing happening in Elliott City, exactly what the area needs to keep things contemporary and chic. The food and coffee is great too !

I got mixed feelings on this one. Not busy, not packed. Just me and my wife and we didnt get our food for almost 30 mins. When my wife went to ask, they said they were doing online orders and getting to our. We almost left and they gave us our food. Its lunch time during a weekday, understand people dont have 2 hours to sit and enjoy their food. Although the food was good, I doubt I will be back.

This family owned and operated Syrian restaurant and store, specializing in crafts, art and textiles is the Baltimore areas hidden gem right in the middle of Ellicott City. Syriana has three floors of pleasant surprises and exotic decorations and unique items for sale. It is the perfect place to purchase gifts that you will not be able to find anywhere else. Especially if you are trying to find a gift that will become a talking piece among family and friends. (I purchased a hand crafted wooden chess board, inlayed with mother of pearl). The food presentation was amazing and tasted just as expected! I am posting a pic of some of the menu items. Syriana offers authentic Turkish and Syrian coffee and their hand churned gelato (ice cream) is, to be quite honest, the best I have ever tasted. This buiding is circa 1790 and it is a great place to take someone on a date as you look through the three floors for a quite nook, or a place to take the family as it provides large seating areas and can host large families. Syriana has an area for board games or quiet spaces for reading. In all, Syriana left my family very impressed and we will be definitely coming back soon when we are in the Baltimore area.

The food is usually excellent.. But with the pandemic, it was my first time ordering curbside from them and we came home to find that they gave us the wrong order. We were really disappointed. I called and was offered a partial refund for the order for the dish we didnt get. It was close to closing time so I guess that was all they could do? It left us with a lasting bad feeling tonight. We didnt have enough food between the two of us.. Note to restaurant, its not only about the one dish you get wrong.. When customers order takeout or curbside and drive out to pickup, you need to get it right or offer a full refund PERIOD when you get it wrong. Just like eating in the restaurant, the customer service experience is equal to the quality of the food. With take out, the stakes are higher. Our experience is that we felt we made the mistake of giving curbside a chance with Syriana.

During COVID I ordered desserts from this lovely cafe to be delivered to a friend through GrubHub. I called and asked if they would be willing to include a note with a little message in the order and they went above and beyond! It was written in beautiful handwriting, on sweet stationary, in an adorable little red envelope. This kind of personal attention is so appreciated during this tough time, as we all try our hardest to stay connected to the people in our lives. Thank you, thank you to this cafe for doing their part in keeping us all in touch and supported. They provide more than delicious food... they provide a valuable sense of community.

My wife and I checked this place out about a month ago on a Saturday weekend. We drove almost 20 miles just based on high rating reviews to have a nice meal and enjoy this beautiful town. We ordered Ultimate Grilled Platter and to our surprise the food was ready in 5 minutes. The chicken was burned and hard as you can see from the picture. Lamb was cold, and beef was ok. All other sides were good. I believe ordering food at 4:30 pm on Saturday might not be the best idea (Later we noticed they closed at 5 pm while we were walking around). I cannot give them more than 3 stars, but I am pretty sure I will get better quality food other days.

Quality food with pleasant service, really loved the fries. Our cashier was very friendly and personable.I will say we waited a very long time just to get to the counter for our pickup order because of a difficult and verbose customer. It would have been nice if one of the other two employees who were not engaging with the customer had stepped up to assist with pickup or other simple orders to get the line down, especially considering the close quarters and inability to properly social distance.

While visiting Ellicott City this past weekend I started to walk past this place, but the amazing aromas that I scented (even through my mask) had me stopping and taking a second look at their menu. Between the menu and scents my stomach growled and I gave them a try. I was NOT disappointed! I ordered the meat sampler with rice and Fatoush and the platter it came out on was huge and overflowing. I had a great meal and enough leftover for a second large meal. The flat bread and hummus had a beautiful seasoning. The meat was well cooked and still tender. The fatoush was bright and crunchy. If you want to try a hearty and healthy meal make sure to try them out. They are clean, safety concious and have outdoor seating. The staff was polite, helpful and welcoming. The prices were a good value for the money. I know Ill try them again!
