New owners and they are not trustworthy. Such a shame. The other owners sold me an inexpensive, everyday necklace chain. It finally broke and being that I hate wasting materials, I came to Rumi to see if it could be repaired or replaced there. The new woman at the front said “oh it’s no problem at all the jeweler in the back will look at it.” Eventually after 15 minutes I asked “why is it taking so long?” She said it’s because the jeweler was soldering it for me. “Oh how nice! Must not have been so bad.” She comes out and tells me it’s $20 for soldering, which I never agreed to but I figured was worth it to pay a new, local shop and to fix my necklace. A week later my necklace snapped again, this time in a new spot. When I came back to ask about where it snapped, she said it snapped in a new place, “old necklace do that” and the replacement for an identical necklace was $16…… so why did they charge me $20 to solder an old necklace, knowing that it was likely to fall apart again soon? An honest jeweler would pause and say “hey, it might be in your best interest to buy a new one. I can solder if you like, but the new one would be cheaper.” When I asked them this in the store the front desk woman and jeweler literally laughed out loud. If a jeweler can’t be trusted for small pieces of jewelry, I wouldn’t come for anything more expensive! Be careful in there.
I have been looking for a local jeweler for years. I was referred to Rumi by a friend that lived in the area and had used them for some custom jeweler. From the start - I felt that they were attentive, courteous and careful to make sure they were meeting my needs. I have had custom work done, basic re-sizing of rings, and re-pronging of gems - and all of those things were very well done, professional and beautiful finished pieces. Having an on-site jeweler is wonderful and hard to find these days. But the thing that keeps me going back is the wonderful customer service. From the front desk salesperson (Marian) to the owners that came out to talk about options for my pieces - I felt that their primary goal was to make sure I was happy with the work. When things for a particular piece came out in a way I did not expect - they worked with me easily and happily to make sure I was happy with the end product. I felt that they prioritized making sure they made the customer happy and were courteous and never made me feel anything but comfortable and satisfied with the end result.I would recommend using them for any of your jewelry needs. They have a nice collection of pieces as well. I have referred many people and plan to return to have more custom work done.Helen
I just had my grandmothers antique wedding ring sized down. They also cleaned both the ring and the band and they look like new!! The staff was friendly, and they did the job in shorter time than I was told! Reasonable priced as well! I HIGHLY recommend Rumi Jewelers!!
BEWARE: RUMI JEWELERS IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENTVery disappointed in the service I received here. The previous staff had been very professional, accommodating and understood the long term value of a customer in the jewelry industry.I had purchased my fiancé’s engagement ring here in the spring and was told we would be able to resize down once for free. A small gesture from the business to the customer to retain them long term. Very simple and straightforward business tactics right? Wrong.Looks like the new management would rather have $40 now rather than thousands throughout the life of a loyal customer. Unfortunate loss for them, oh well.
This used to be a really great place to get jewelry. My family has been loyal customers since it was Berman’s Jewelers. Between my family and friends, who we referred to Rumi’s, we have spent nearly $100,000 here. However, we will never spend another penny here again. My fiancé proposed to me in May of this year before it was sold to the new owners. The engagement ring is a size 4 and a little too loose. I was told we would have at least 6 months to resize it, due to the fact my finger size can change throughout the year (they get more swollen in the summer because of the heat). Under the old Rumi’s management, they honored existing customers and would resize it for free. My brothers fiancé was able to get her engagement ring resized twice for free, as well as other family members and friends who had their rings resized. The only time we would have to pay was if we needed to increase the size and add material to the ring. However, my fiancé and I went into Rumi’s today and spoke with Miriam. She informed us that Rumi’s no longer honors that policy for existing customers and would charge us $40 to bring the size down from a 4 to a 3.75. When I asked her if we could speak to the manager or owner, she told us the owners were never there and she could not give out any of their information. We couldn’t even get their names. She, also, told us there isn’t a manager we can speak to. The customer service we received today was absolutely disappointing and unacceptable. We were planning on looking at wedding bands today but were so turned off by the disrespect of loyal customers that we will be giving our business elsewhere. I will make sure that my family and friends do the same, so that their loyalty won’t be taken advantage of.
After being turned down by another Jeweler in Ellicott City on the repair of my 18 ct gold bracelet with garnets. I took it to Rumi Jewelers and Susan graciously took my bracelet, said she would consult her jeweler for repair, and get back with me. She promptly called me with in 2 days and had it repaired for reasonable price. I must say that I will be doing all my business here as Susan was both professional and accommodating.
Rumi Jewelers has been my familys jeweler for years. We brought my grandmas ring to size and found out the store is under new management. The new owner went above and beyond sizing our platinum ring.We will be back!Thank you!
Sam (the owner) of Bermans Jewelers is phenomenal. He is honest, polite, friendly and patient... Answered all of our questions and offered advice and experience. He is not pushy and allows you to decide on your own while offering suggestions. My fiance and I purchased our wedding bands here and cannot be more pleased. Same custom made mine... I highly recommend this jeweler to everyone. Pricing is appropriate his custom work.
Staff is very personable. Great communication between staff & customers. Manager comes out to explain even the metallurgy in what is done to jewelry. I KNOW my jewelry is in competent hands.
This jeweler is excellent. Weve been going to Sam (the owner) for years. You can trust him for very good quality and he has an excellent selection of jewelry. He will also work with you to custom design whatever you want.
Family friendly store. Lots of options for everyone. Love this store!
I think they’re out of business. Called twice today and the number was disconnected. Went in person to get a watch fitted and the lights were all off and when I peeped in through the window everything was in boxes.
Excellent workmanship on watch and jewelry repairs. Friendly staff. This place is a bit pricy on purchasing jewelry but has good stock.
Thank You! The staff was helpful and professional each time we came in. They truly listened to us and what our vision was for our wedding band, and they did everything that they could to make it perfect, get it to us on time, and to meet a reasonable price range. I think it speaks volumes when I mention Bermans name to others, and everyone knows who I am talking about and also has glowing reviews. I had no idea, but I recently discovered that my brother and my sister-in-law have come to Bermans repeatedly for their engagement ring, wedding bands, and follow-up to any issues with prongs, setting, etc. We really appreciate all that you do for us, and for our friends and family who have trusted you. Thank you for adding to our wedding day and experience. We will be coming back.
The lady buzzed me in (secure front entrance) and I could see they had a few other people they were helping. I waited patiently for a few minutes, but no one said be right there, can we help you? or anything like that. I waited 15 minutes and tried several times to get someones attention. I was ignored. The people who were not helping anyone congregated in the back of the store and flew past me very quickly, it was apparent they did not want to help me as they were actually putting effort into ignoring me. I know they saw me come in because they had to open the door for me. I was planning on buying a gold wedding band for my husband but left in frustration because no one would acknowledge me. Based on this experience, I believe it is clear they discriminate their customers based on age, gender or appearance, as I had stopped on my way back from the gym and therefor had not dressed fancy. I ended up buying the ring elsewhere the same day and I would not go back after this.
Very professional and did quality work on my necklace.
Honest local jewler. Sam and his staff have helped me and several family members of mine many times.
Wonderful, honest, delightful people with nothing but quality on their minds.
Bermans has been my family jeweler for as long as I can remember, since my teens for sure. 3 generations, and beginning a 4th. I trust Sam implicitly with anything related to jewelry purchase and repair. His knowledge of watches, gemstones, metals is exceptional. He explains and teaches in meaningful and easy to understand detail. I refer many to him. Bermans is THE place to go for anything jewelry related.
This was one of those jewelry stores that would say to me, Hey Kid whatre you looking for.I went in here ring hunting for my (now) wife. I was buzzed in and was met by a miserable looking woman, who I could plainly see was judging me because of my age, and being casually dressed (Cmon, a leather jacket isnt that slobby) so make sure you have wrinkles and are in a triple breasted suit when you enter. The only reason I give it two stars instead of oneIs because despite being judged, and the ladies body language showing me she didnt want to helpShe did, she even brought out diamonds to lay in the settings to show me what they would look like. They also provided me with a pamphlet. However. However however however. When I told her my budget she scoffed at me, and this was when I was most offended. If this was too long, and you didnt want to read; Dont come here unless youre an old rich guy.The rings are antique-y style anyway. Mens wedding bands is not really full of choice.
I had batteries replaced on four watches two Wenger, Boss and Seico titanium. The batteries were $7 each. Less than a week later one watch stopped working and I returned it. When I call to check the manager beraided me accusing me several times of sabotaging the watch. He proclaimed I tried to fix my $300 watch after bermans replaced the battery broke it and returned it under false pretense of a faulty battery. He was rude obnoxious and belligerent, it was unbelievable! The broken watch was a graduation gift from my wife 20yrs ago. Today a month later two of the four watches are not working, unbelieveable! Terrible customer service I wouldnt let them fix my watches for free.
I went here for ring repairing .....best jewelry repair services

My fiance purchased my engagement ring from Bermans...I noticed a scratch in the band which nagged me the whole 6 days that I wore the ring before the color started to change...Im dying to hear the reason. Im very disappointed that my fiance had to experience such embarrassment.
