I can speak on how great this dealership is. From Chris in sales to Jamie in service. Bought my A20 new from these guys, boat performed as it should, and just had it winterized with additional items I wanted done. Price was fair, work was done in a professional manner. Would highly recommend doing business with these guys.

Dont buy your boat here! We bought a brand new boat over $100,000 and the first week the check engine light came on. We had to have it put in the boat repair shop (they told us to take it to) twice to try to fix this issue! Turns out it was bad gas which Chessie put in the boat from the beginning, and now Andy and Chessie are refusing to pay the bill for our boat being in the shop. Seriously you spend that much on a boat, and we get stuck with the bill! Horrible customer service!

7/28/2021: Update:A great place to buy a boat. From ownership to sales to service, they never leave you out on your own. Thanks to everyone at Chessie.Just purchased a boat from Chessie Marine. There were a few set backs along the way to getting the boat in the water. Chris Buckland and the entire crew at Chessie Marine were great. I would highly recommend Chessie Marine for a boat or services.

It’s a rare occasion that I get to take my Mastercraft out for a ski so I spent $1,400 to have Chessie Marine take it for a test drive, check belts, hoses and everything. Yes, $1,400. I spent $400 additional installing a swim platform and repairing a binge pump and light. The $1,400 was just to make certain everything was in good working condition. I wanted the boat to start and be in safe operating condition. Took the boat out today and the bulge started flooding with water. I checked the plug and it was in and tight. The water was coming in faster than the bilge pump could pump it out. Turns out they took out the plug in the transom. Not only did they fail to mention this but they didn’t leave the plug anywhere on the boat. Once the boat was out of the water I found a belt in the bilge. Clearly they don’t inspect anything. Had I gottten further out in the river it could have been a tragedy. The response from Jamie was basically that it wasn’t their responsibility and she offered to send me a free $3 replacement plug. Zero acknowledgement of their negligence. Not even an apology. Complete negligence and a rip off charging me $1,400 when they clearly didn’t spend any time inspecting the boat, how else can you explain the rubber belt in the bilge in plain site? If they had left the plug on the driver seat or anywhere in the boat I would have been on notice. We all assume risks when we boat, but I never bargained to assume the risk of sloppy work and negligent mechanics. This will be litigated.

We purchased our Axis from Chessie and Chris Buckland was kind enough to meet us after hours to suit our schedule. His knowledge of the boats was very helpful in making our decision. After communicating back and forth for a few days we got the deal done and were out doing our demo with Chris the same week. Being in sales myself I can appreciate when someone goes above and beyond to get the job done. Kudos Chris! Go visit Chessie Marine for a great experience!

One of the best customer service experiences I ever had. They had us back on the water within a few hours of our water pump blowing on a holiday weekend! Then Andy called later in the evening just to make sure everything was working the way it should. Way above and beyond what they had to do for us. Really appreciate the service they provided.

Chessie Marine is a family owned and operated company that goes above and beyond what you would expect from a boat dealer. Ive purchased many boats from them over the years and I can not recall ever not being satisfied. Of course boats breakdown (even new ones), but the folks and Chessie were always there to step up and take care of the issues. Great people, friendly atmosphere and a pleasure to deal with.

Sales or service, you cant go wrong. Ive seen review praising the sales experience, which is great, but I dont see many on service. Ill only have my boat serviced here! Beside being friendly, they also help get things done on your behalf. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent. Never asked to do any nonsense service thats not needed and always told, in detail, what is needed and what is not. Great place!

Chessie Marine is just as everyone says; friendly and treat yo like an old friend. That is until there is a problem. We have purchased three new boats from Chessie in six short years without the problem until this one. The second summer out we had to have a new engine put in the boat which had us off the water all summer. When we got it back not only was there damage to the gel coat (paint) on the boat, ripped seat and numerous loose panels, along tons of trash from the engine swap in the bilge, the boat didnt work right. Alarms went off as soon as the boat was turned on. Do they not test these boats. Malibu sent another engine and I spent another 5 weeks without a boat. This is not all their fault, however, when we bought boat Brian, the owner said if there is ever a problem that took the boat out for a significant time he would ensure that they put us in another boat while ours was fixed. He did not. Next problem. Shortly after getting the boat back with less than 40 hours of run time the boat would not start due to what turns out to be a wire that is broken. The only way you can break this wire is working on the boat, like during an engine swap or two. Chessie was kind enough to bill me $461 for their screw up.In short, Chessie has super nice people working there, but they simply put do not stand behind their work, the owner does not keep his word. This year we will be buying a new boat and it will not be with Chessie and it will not be another Malibu.

Great people (owners, sales mgr, support staff and mechanics) and great ski boats. Malibu Boats ski and wakeboard boats have been my favorite since 2002. Starting in 1991, Ive owned two Mastercrafts (used 89 Tristar and new 94 Prostar 205), one Sanger (new 99 DLX) and 4 Malibu Boats (used 02 Response LX Barefooter, new 06 Response LXi, used 99 Corvette-currently owned, used 06 Wakesetter XTi-currently owned). Excellent construction, durability, performance, handling and features have made them my top choice.

The used car salesman of new malibu boats. Sheisters, liars, and story tellers. My brand new malibu has issues all over. Front of boat was damaged, engine messed up, trailer wrecked, mirror scratched, gelcoat hit by something, buckles mismatched on bimini, hull full of trash under motor and boat wasnt winterized properly. Everytime i turn around i find more damage done by their dealership. Was lied to on many occasions. Was promised stuff that i still dont have since the beginning of april. Buyer beware at this place. I now have to deal with malibu direct and can not enjoy my summer after spending to get what i thought was the best. Truth is on the water alright. You dont find out the truth until you get home and get on the water.

I just read the reviews. I’m glad to see all of the great write ups although one stirred me to write my own own.We ordered our 1st Malibu, a 23XTI, from Chessie in 2003. Hopefully this puts me pretty high up in the Chessie buyers seniority list. We went on to buy a 2007 23XTI, 2015 22VLX, 2016 22VLX and just recently have taken delivery of our 1st Nautique, a Super Air 230! Fifteen years together of Chessie’s 25 and it feels like family every time I stop in! So much so that Andy hired our son who just returned from college and had 2 weeks off before he started his internship. A couple of extra bucks for the kid that dad doesnt have to shell out. (Thanks Andy!) That’s the definition of a family business! As for the boats, boats are machines and machines break, doesnt matter if its a new Malibu or a new Boeing, theyre going to break. The concern is how does the dealer and the manufacturer take care of the customer. Regarding Chessie and Malibu, (I havent had the Nautique long enough and fingers crossed I won’t need any) 2nd to none! Theyve come to my marina when needed and Brian has put me on hold while he called Malibu to figure out a computer glitch when I was on the water. I’ve heard stories of their techs driving 4-6 hours to work on a customers boat. These are just a couple of examples of how Chessie has treated us and the list is long of all of the good things they have done for us!I work in a service industry and you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Some people are just unable to be pleased even if you do give them the shirt off of your back. My uncle was a car dealer and now his son, my cousin, has the dealership. It’s the only place I will buy a car. In my estimation, he has an excellent reputation and albeit cliche to refer to one as a used car dealer, I’ll put a positive spin on that and say that based on my experience with my “used car” dealer, the connotation is a good one and Chessie does an outstanding job, new or used! Just like my family in the car industry, my family in the boat industry is the same, Chessie Marine is the ONLY place I will buy a boat. Happy to be part of the family!Rob

We bought a boat from Chessie Marine and Id like to make it clear that this review does not apply to that experience, which was excellent. In particular, dealing with Andy. However, afterwards we used Chessie Marine for servicing our boat. BIG MISTAKE! Besides taking forever to get anything done and missing promised deadlines, they made several really unacceptable mistakes. One, they put our GPS on with regular screws instead of stainless ones. Obviously they immediately started to rust; they seemed appropriately embarrassed and changed them out. We have since learned from our new boat service that additionally the GPS was installed in the wrong place (the depth meter continuously failed because of this) and was never sealed. We also asked Chessie to install a second battery with a cut off switch. After we discovered that our batteries were completely dead after the winter, we learned that they had completely miswired the new set up and the kill switch did not work. In addition, the switch was so poorly installed, it fell off after a few uses. Again, they did fix this once the mistake was discovered (hence two stars, not one) but it really caused us a lot of hassle, as well as having to purchase two new marine batteries and miss a weekend of boating. I am only putting up this review to warn anyone who buys their boat from Chessie (on which they are very competent) to be wary of also using their service department (on which they are not).
