First, I am transgender and I felt safe and supported shopping here. I worked with a customer associate named Dena and she was knowledgeable, kind, and an extremely good teacher. She took me through what I had been doing then walked me through products that would work with my fair Scottish skin. I highly recommend going to this store to get your beauty supplies but more importantly to be informed about the products and what may work best for you. Dena gets high praise as I felt comfortable talking with her which has been tough for me. Thanks again for a great experience.

She was very willing to take the time to find the product I needed and sought advice from the manager to make sure she was on target with selling me the correct order. I was greeted and waited on in a professional manner and would highly recommend this Ulta store.

Read till the end, even tho is a positive review in the beginning there’s something negative in the end.I went to the Benefit Bar Brow to do my eyebrows and I had the best service and experience ever! Shaneka is very professional and friendly and one of the kindest person I met. She ask me how I would like my eyebrows to be done and she draws a draft and ask again if I like it. During the service she always talk with you and it’s always nice to chat with her. In the end she ask again if we want something to change or if we want something else and it’s done. She is very informative about the Benefit products and always help you find whatever you want Benefit wise. Another thing that is nice it’s the eye mask that you can ask for it, it’s just 5$ more and it worth it. Before Shaneka I used to do it with Dena and she is lovely as well.An additional comment that I realize is how generic and bad is the Ulta answers to ours reviews. I started to read the comments and the Ulta responses for the comments is ridiculous, looks like copy and paste. An example of that it was a customer that complaint about not finding Lancôme products, and the response for the comments that Ulta did is to come back to the store to ask for a Beauty Advisor’s help. In this location, in Durham, they don’t sell Lancôme, there’s no Lancôme skin care and there’s no Lancôme makeup. So you will never find Lancôme there, at Cary’s location they have to whole line, make up and skin care. So, no Ulta, there’s no beauty advisor in earth that can help a customer to find Lancôme at Durham location unless they have super powers, what I don’t think they do. So please do better and read and respect the customer, because even tho at Ulta the possibilities are beautiful, if the answers keep being generic like that, the possibility will start to be ugly.

Staff was very kind helps me with all my questions since its hard to pick out makeup, cuz you cant try it on right now due to the pandemic. This Southpoint location is great they have such a huge selection of makeup in this particular Ulta. They also offer curbside pickup I tried to take a picture of that and I also found joico k-pak shampoo and conditioner the large sizes both only $17 each on sale. They also had the joico purple and blue color shampoo and conditioner large sizes on sale for the same price. But its a very clean store everybody wears a mask they do offer the curbside pickup and I just love this Ulta.

If you feel like being ignored by all means go to this store. I just left the store. I walked around for a good 10 minutes while 5-7 employees stood in the center of the store gossiping while I tried to get someone’s attention and NO ONE looked up. I finally found what I was looking for without help, went up to the register and was treated pretty rudely. This is why I don’t shop at this store. If I want to be ignored I’ll shop at Target or Walmart. Why does this store have so many employees on the freaking floor if they only stand around gossiping?? I hadn’t been in this store in years and now I remember why.

I went into the Ulta Renaissance Center IV (6923 Fayetteville Road, Durham, NC 27703) on 12/22. I brought in a product which had been ordered online for in-store pickup, but it was the incorrect product which had been given to me when I picked it up a few days before. The incorrect product was very similar to the product I really ordered, and it was the same price.The manager on duty, Liliana Perez, said that because I checked out as a guest online and did not use my loyalty number during the transaction, I would only be able to receive $8 back for the $28 gift set. I explained that I did not want money back, that I wanted the CORRECT item that I ordered and had proof of ordering (emailed receipt). Liliana said that because I didnt use my loyalty number, theres no way of tracing that this was legitimate and that I could have bought the item from somewhere else and just shown up to get money for it (!!!). She also questioned why I didnt bring this up when I originally picked up the product, and I explained that they were both very similar gift sets. It wasnt apparent until I started wrapping the item.I am utterly dissappointed in Ulta for not fixing a mistake that the STORE made, and I attempted to fix as soon as I discovered the issue (within 3 days of picking up the item). I will not be coming back to Ulta again. I cannot trust a company that treats customers this way. If you must have a loyalty number in order to make a return for the STORES mistake, then you should REQUIRE a loyalty number for every transaction.Regardless of their return policy, nobody should ever tell a customer that they are probably coming in to try to scam the store. That is humiliating and unprofessional.

I went to this Ulta last weekend for a haircut and had a terrible experience. The stylist was running over 30 minutes late for my appointment. My hair is noticeably uneven, it is about an inch longer on one side, really the most basic thing I expect from a cut is that it be even. I called the store to see if anything could be done, and they dont have any openings for weeks. I know they only have 2 stylists working currently, but who wants to walk around with uneven hair for that long?

Fantastic buying experience! I came into this Ulta earlier today, 02/03 around 2p.m. I was looking for a Philosophy cream that I had forgotten the name of, but had been using a sample of (sample pictured right). I was not sure which cream it was, as the sample had come in a tube and everything in-store, full size, was in a jar. A lady working there with a Dermalogica jacket helped me determine which sample I had been using by going over the different textures with me. I purchased the cream (pictured left) after we determined that was the one I had been using. I was still unsure that was the right cream, but when I got home, I saw that was the exact one I had been using in sample size! Very, very helpful staff. I will be returning to this Ulta for sure!

Had a haircut with Suzanne today and it was awesome. Never have been disappointed by the stylists at Ulta but with this being my first haircut since COVID started I wasnt sure what to expect. I shouldnt have been even a little concerned! Appropriate safety precautions were taken and I received the same high level service I have always received. Cant wait for my next appointment with Suzanne. Thanks so much for taking such great care of me :)

I went to this ulta for a color correction. 11:15 am. Didnt get out until 3pm. Stylish had to strip my hair the second time because she put the wrong color in and doing so she burned my scalp. 295.00 dollars later and in pain.I will never use ULTA services again.

Here’s why you all get two stars. The store is well stocked but my experience checking out was lack luster. It’s not the end of the world if I don’t want to signup for your rewards program AND it’s not okay if you DO NOT ask me if it’s okay to allow another customer to receive the points. Like SERIOUSLY, it’s called common courtesy to ask the customer before allowing someone else to tag along with MY purchase. And the sad part is the cashier legit told me she didn’t have to ask me for permission because I didn’t want to signup...

I had a wonderful shopping experience at Ulta in Durham NC, the store is Bright, Clean and stocked. It is very easy to find what you are looking for and the staff were friendly and helpful. Two different staff members stopped and helped me find the exact products I was looking for eventhough the store was busy they took their time to help me.Ulta Cashier Brandon was wonderful I was having a rough day and his smile, courtesy and helpfulness made my shopping experience easier and pleasant. When I couldnt find the specific foundations I was looking for he immediately told me where they were located and even waited for me while I found the one I was looking for and continued assist other customers with the same professionalism he showed me.Brandon is great staff member and an asset to your company, as well as the other staffers working hard on a Friday night.

Terrible customer service. I was there for 2 hours and only 1person who actually worked for MAC even asked if I needed help. The cashier had no customer service at all. I wanted to get some moisturizer today and needed some advise as I have a couple of special requirements. I asked if somebody can help me and of course somebody was going to help me. The minutes ticked away and nobody showed. I saw an associate coming, thought it is my turn, but I was mistaken, the associate tended a stand, that didnt have customers. OK. This was my 3. visit to the store. Nothing was ever right, little product knowledge, long waiting times. This makes it 3 strikes. I was called a guest. Well, that is not how I treat my guests in my house.

Typical experience for an Ulta, unfortunately. If you know what youre looking for its probably fine, but if you have questions about products, youre better off doing your research online and buying them via Target or Amazon or something. If you can find an employee theyre cordial, but not super knowledgeable or helpful.

I’ve had a mix of good and bad experiences at ulta. My benefit brow bar appointments have always been pleasant. My shopping experiences however could be better. On one particular occasion an item I was returning was not ringing up the correct amount, but when I kindly informed the associate and showed her the price on the physical receipt, she acted as though I was lying...another associate had to come handle it for her instead. Made a simple return overly difficult.

Every time I have been to this Ulta the staff has been nothing but helpful and cautious in approaching me, not overbearing as other comments suggest. They check in on me once or twice during my visit, always a different person, never the same person as if they are following me around the store- and on the recommendation of one of the employees, I stopped using makeup wipes on my face and since then, have seen a dramatic improvement in my skins texture and redness from removing the alcohol from my skin routine, within the space of maybe three months I have achieved an 80% improvement in my skins problem areas.

My 12 year old daughter bought me a bare minerals kit from here. It was for a darker complexion than mine so I took it back to swap it out with another. I didnt have a gift receipt or anything. The lady wouldnt let me swap it out and told me that I guess I should just throw it away. Too bad for you. I understand if you cant return it, but please, spare the attitude. I gave it to a lady in line with the right complexion and the lady was furious. Oh well.

Tried on a lot of red lupstick and walked out with nothing. Staff ask to help but weren’t able to resolve issues with incorrect prices. The staff at the register is rude EVERY SINGLE TIME I go there. While I was checking out just last night, I informed the girl I wanted to order a couple things that they didn’t have in stock, she told me she had to do that order separately from my in-store purchases, which was totally fine. After finishing my in-store transaction, I had to remind her I still needed to place an online order, and gave me the worst look and said ‘let me check out the other guests and I’ll get back to you.’ I was completely shocked! I had already waited in line, so I’m not sure why I needed to continue to wait...even after she had called up another staff member to help check out other guests. I just grabbed my items, and left. I couldn’t believe how rude she was!!

Customer service is abysmal. I dont need my hand held looking through the store, but the displays were trashed, dirty & unmaintained. The way things are set up, I couldnt find some of the skin care I was looking for. I had at least $100- $150 worth of makeup in the shopping bag. Two employees walked past me at checkout multiple times without acknowledging I was there. There were more employees than customers in the store, and many employees were all talking to each other in pairs. For me to take my free time and leave a review like this says a lot. I do not have super high expectations at Ulta, and even so I walked out empty handed. Buying makeup at Walgreens, let alone a department store, is a much more pleasant experience than this particular Ulta. I was in on 9/2/16 from about 3:40 to 4 pm.

I can’t say enough good things about the service that I receive at this location. Everyone is always very helpful! I was recently in and the manager Susanna provided me with the best service making sure that I found was I was looking for. She recommended a UD foundation that I have since fell in love with even though we could not be more different in skin tones. For once someone got my skin match on the first try. She also suggested another one by Too Face that I came back a few days later and purchased...I love that one too! During other visits Marisa who has been at this location for awhile is always extremely helpful too! As always Yusmeri, cashier was the sweetest at checkout!

It can be expensive, look for deals in the isles, there was one deal that included a free brush and i had waited for the staff ringing me up to get it but she wasn’t aware of the deal, but eventually got help from other staff and was able to get the free brush. With that said, there may be lack of internal communication so if you see a deal and get it offered, say something.

My review is based on my Ulta Salon experience with Sarah. I went in, asking for balayage highlights. I came in with 3 pictures of what I wanted, and all three of them showed light blonde highlights but with a significant amount of natural hair color showing.After 5 hours in Sarahs chair, my hair had barely changed color. I was upset because the highlights she gave me were nowhere near as light as I had asked for.I called and complained and agreed to let Sarah fix my hair for free, rather than getting a refund. I wish I hadnt. I dont know what about highlights Sarah didnt understand because I left with completely blonde hair from about 4 inches from my scalp to the bottom. Instead of getting highlights, I got what looked like a 6-month old bad dye job.I expressed my concerns about not having enough natural color in my hair as Sarah was doing the highlights, but instead of reducing the amount of hair she was bleaching, she just kept going and said I could come back and get lowlights put in at a later date.Sarahs understanding of balayage highlights is nothing like how most people understand it. She didnt put much variation in where the highlights started, so although they didnt start at my scalp (correct), they all started at about the same distance from my scalp (incorrect), making it look like a grown-out dye job. Further more, she dyed 90% of my hair below the line where she started the highlights, so I dont think they conform to what most people would call highlights.Although Sarah did apologize for not listening to me and getting carried away when I went back the second time, she still didnt listen when I tried to get her to bleach less hair during her fix. And although she offered for me to come back to get lowlights at a different date, I knew that would not be enough to fix the hair and I no longer trusted her to touch my hair.I am still working on trying to get my money back. I only agreed to give Sarah a second chance if I could first speak to the salon manager, but when I showed up I was told the salon manager wasnt there. I let her do the fix anyway and severely regret it. Ive contacted corporate twice, but the store manager still hasnt gotten back to me within the timeframe they gave me.I had to go to a different salon to get my hair fixed. Instead of doing just the highlights I wanted originally, I had to get lowlights to restore lots of my natural color, highlights to vary the distance from my scalp from which the highlights start (the fundamental characteristic of balayage that Sarah did not understand) and 2 glazes to keep the lightness of the highlights but get rid of the yellow (Sarah told me the toner she was using could only get rid of brassiness by making it darker).

I went to Durham 6923 Fayetteville Road Store on 8/7/15 at 6 pm for salon services. The hairstylist was kind and hardworking. At around 8 pm, the store manager told her to finish quickly as she said she would not want to wait. At around 8:45, the store manager, Christina, made me to walk to the front cashier to pay for the services when my hair was still in foils for coloring. I asked the store manager, Christina (also the cashier at the time) whether they would wait for me as it was only 15 minutes to the stores closing time. She was very rude and I cant believe she is the store manager!! Then, in front of me, she insulted the hair stylist and told her to be very quick as her baby was waiting for her at home. The only thing she did NOT know was I was having my hair done for my babys first birthday the following day, and she ruined it for me. As she almost threatened the hair stylist, I was terribly rushed. My hair was in the drying machine for a few minutes and I had a haircut within few minutes. When I came home, my scalp started to burn very badly. It has been a few hours and Im still in pain. The treatment I saw in this store was unacceptable. Also, the store manager had no right to insult an employee like that. Im very disappointed and hope they will find a humane store manager who would have some sympathy for other people. Shame on her and shame on the person who hired her as a store manager. The bottomline is, dont go to this location or they can burn your scalp too.

It’s a great store to visit in your local neighborhood. The Clarins Double Serum is the #1 Serum in the World. It boast of 65% Turmeric and 20 other plant botanicals. The hydration (double Hyaluronic) is second to none esp. during this time of the year when it’s cold and windy. Brought my 15 year old in to learn about makeup. Mac lady with arabic tattoo (be tru to yourself) helped her. She was awesome teaching how to do eyebrows. This store is a little overwhelmong for me because even though i dont wear a lot of makeup i buy a lot. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I purchased two-faced brand, which i love love love. Great store.
