My son went in this store to look at purchasing something for me since I have been sick lately. He noted the woman working today was blatantly rude to him and obviously did not want him in the store. So much so that other customers noted that was Carolina female students that offered help and was very nice. The woman noted that she went to Carolina and was very grateful to always see “Carolina Girls” in the store. This lady went above and beyond to be rude to him. Funny how people can be so closed minded and disrespectful, especially when all he did was go into the store as a potentially paying consumer. This world, truly sad.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. I went in when they had their everything half off in store..great prices!! Will be back

I am impressed with Refinements selections, prices, and store layout. Its a good-energy place - has a really great feel to it. Great location, too, if you should decide to enjoy a bistro within the same shopping complex. Cynthia is fantastic, too - shell remember you!

I recently visited the new store in Sutton station in Durham and I loved it!! Ive been shopping here for 2 years and the new stores decor is such an improvement from the old Rams Plaza location. I can park right in front of the store and the Sutton station shopping center is such a great location. I feel their quality of clothes has gotten even better and they have the great same prices and friendly staff as before! It was well worth making the trip over from Chapel Hill!!!

My first visit was a HUGE disappointment. I needed shoes for a special event and was brought in by a friend who spoke highly of the boutique. Her and I both left with a sour taste after our visit. We felt we were spoken down to when asking questions as consumers who’ve never been in new surroundings, I was asking questions to ascertain how your pricing and organization worked and we were answered to as if in 3rd grade-we were the only ones there!The kicker: the purchase of the over priced shoes were actually broken- and rendered useless. I did not have a pair of shoes the night of my event..and I was out of town.In the future, you may want to be careful how you address shoppers in your store when they inquire about your business practices. When you openly advise you “don’t donate, you sell everything...even if it’s marked down to $2.00.” I asked because people like myself who ARE philanthropic, now won’t send people your way. Your assumptions on us as customers kept us shaking our heads all afternoon. Was it how we were dressed? My skin color? Our carefree attitude? Don’t worry about crafting a response, we won’t be back.

Wow, what a great place to shop.I was in town from Florida and a friend took me. I love how organized by size and color each type of clothing is from tops to dresses and slacks. So much to see so dont miss any rack or display of clothing. I found the greatest black tunic top with pockets that will be perfect when I am teaching art classes. Thanks for having this wonderful place to shop. I think the parking sign outside should read unlimited parking as 20 minutes would only allow a tip of the iceberg view. Specials abound now so get there soon.

I was really pleased with the quality of the clothing and the reasonable prices. I also appreciated the honest feedback that Cynthia, the owner, gave me on how things looked on me.I called her the day after I shopped to see if she had a recommendation for a dry cleaner for a suede jacket I purchased. She went above and beyond by emailing a customer who owned a dry cleaner and also doing online research. She called me later in the day with a recommendation

I visited this store a year or so ago with my mom. The lady working was amazing. We didnt see anything we were interested in. But the customer service was great. Everything was so organized.

Weve been shopping at Refinements for over 2 years now and really enjoy stopping in whether we have something in particular in mind or just want to peruse. Refinements is a consignment shop containing higher end clothing in a nice and organized environment. Youll find good quality brands like Ann Taylor and Talbots as well as cocktail and prom dresses. We were shopping for the latter today and found a gorgeous prom dress from Davids Bridal at a great price. We are so glad this shop is here to help us find beautiful clothes and save us time and money to boot!

I must say the “Refinements” in Sutton Station is by far the best consignment shop that I have ever shopped at or dealt with. The owner is such a nice lady & the quality of the merchandise is outstanding especially when compared to other shops. The displays are all so very pleasing & it’s difficult to walk out of there without buying something. Ive taken my clothing to another local consignment shop which resulted in a very negative experience. I highly recommend “Refinements” for superior quality and for a pleasant shopping experience. If you plan to consign your own clothing do yourself a favor & take your items to Refinements.

Ive never had a bad experience here, which is especially noteworthy given that Im trans and often encounter problems shopping for clothes.

AWFUL!!! Stock Exchange is the consignment store to go to - NOT Refinements!! The owner, Cynthia is a nasty lady to do business with - She sold my items (two trench coats one being an authentic Burberry) and never paid me for them! When I called to ask her about it she had a nasty tone and told me it was too late for me to get paid for my items- she even told me that she was going to send me out a check that day so as not to leave a bad taste in my mouth and two weeks later still no check! (I live in town and the mail system takes 2 business days at the most to get to me from her location) I am a young woman with 3 young children - I thought this would be a good way to make a little bit of extra cash on the side - I was WRONG! Do not trust this lady or business!! Youd be better off donating your items to the nearest thrift store or Goodwill - at least youll get a tax deduction and a smile - which is a lot more than Cynthia will offer you!

I’ve read the reviews here and I unfortunately have to agree with the posts that mention the unkindness and sometimes down right rude owner of this business. You may not realize it but your demeanor is condescending. And you do stalk your customers with an attitude of suspiciousness . I shopped your store when you were in Chapel Hill and also remember this. It has kept me from returning to your business. Just a heads up if you care.

If you are over 50 and have a fondness for Bea Arthur, then this is the store for you. The shoes are the funniest part; $80 for a pair of used black flats. Maybe the designer was someone real special but I couldnt tell cause the name was completely worn off. There needs to be a Platos Closet in Chapel Hill and not just the small one in Durham by the mall. It amazes me how the owners of these consignment and thrift shops around here are oblivious to 2 things; UNC CH and Duke. I dont think this population wants to dress like a grandma.

The prices at this place are a joke. Example: they sell their *used* Lucky Brand jeans for $35 or $45! How does that make any sense when you can buy a brand new pair off eBay for less than $20?

The women that works here just kept staring me down and following me as if I was going to steal something. When I picked out a dress and changed my mind she got mad because I didn’t put it in the correct rack. Overall Horrible service and I won’t be returning anytime soon.
