Why go to a chain when this gem is right next store? Big windows for lots of light upstairs. Cool basement downstairs. Solid coffee and Wi-Fi! Got the pumpkin spice latte and it wasn’t overly sweet like many that I’ve had. I’ll be back when I come through ninth street.

Wow! The berry white mocha lives up to its name and is delicious! Yes it’s sweet but I love sweet coffee, so it was perfect. My friend got a fruit juice that was also very good. Definitely worth it and better than Starbucks! The interior is nice, relaxed environment and the barista was friendly.

This is my wife and my self’s preferred coffee shop in Durham. I always get an iced vanilla latte and she has tried a chai tea and the bull city turtle. Everything is good and the vibe is excellent. Staff is always friendly. Only occasionally the drinks have come out too sweet, and I believe consistency is key with custom coffee drinks. Other than that it’s all great! We will continue to go here!

Got a hot chocolate from here. The barista was super nice and we had a pleasant conversation as he made our drinks. He suggested putting cinnamon on top of the hot chocolate, which made it even more delicious! Perfect spot if you want to curl up with a hot drink while studying, reading, or just relaxing.

A little too pricey. Syrups a little too sweet. $6.59 for large iced flavored latte. Only 2 espresso shots in small or large.3-->4 stars because staff was super friendly and very nice vibe inside

Specialty drinks were a bit too sweet for my taste, but staff were super friendly (it is quite likely I can order the same drink less sweet when I go back). Not a big selection of pastries and such when I was in, but it was a cozy spot for an afternoon latte. Leagues better than the chain place that opened next door!

I love the staff and the atmosphere of this place. But the products are mixed, at least in my experience. I remember really liking this place until over the last year I just kept getting disappointing drinks. One time I got one of the advertised specialty tea drinks and got back a cup of sweet milk without a tea bag. Then, recently, I got the advertised pumpkin spice chai latte; the spices were gone after like two sips. Then today I got a latte with a couple syrups in it, and the server got the coffee and syrups right but didnt add any milk, which is kind of a main feature of a latte. So Ill keep trying, especially when Starbucks moves in, and hope my luck turns around.

I had the most disgusting coffee I’ve ever had in my entire life. Ordered a pumpkin spice latte with oat milk this morning and tasted like bitter, sour water with pumpkin spices on top. It made me so nauseas I thought I was going to throw up in my car.I had an upset stomach for hours. Will not go here again.

I love local coffee houses in Durham but never understood how not one could be open at 6 like Starbucks can. Does no one in Durham wake up until 8? Cocoa Cinnamon 8, Oak House 8, Beyu years ago 8. Mad Hatter 8. Is it a conspiracy against those who get up with the sun?

We gave this place a try because it had better reviews than the Starbucks nearby. The environment is quaint. Their desserts are delicious. However, the coffee is not that great. I added some flavor to my cup and it was much more tolerable. My husband got a pour over, and it was incredibly watery and tasted like even the milk was watered down. It was bland with a tap water aftertaste. It could have just been the way it was made, but that was my one time experience. Id go back to get one of their banana chocolate gluten-free ball things, but I wont be getting any more coffee

I wanted to support a local coffee shop so I stopped here yesterday for an Americana. Yuk!! The most expensive cup of coffee that tasted like milky, coffee water. McDonalds has better coffee! First and last visit. A greeting from the server would have been nice.

My favorite coffee shop in Durham, locally owned small business that personifies Durham. If you arent a coffee connoisseur which I am not the baristas will walk you thru. Also in the age of Covid19 you are required to wear a mask upon entry, and the seating has been reduced in half. While in town I stop by here for my daily coffee fix.

This coffee shop is great! The service is usually quite quick and the coffee is good. I especially like the Mayan mocha. The added spiciness really makes it.The coffee shop plays music at a good level. Definitely not too loud but not too soft either. While it’s a nice enough place to sit, the coffee just isn’t very good. I ordered a pourover that was so watery it tasted like coffee-flavored water. Maybe this was just a one-off mistake, but it’s pretty disappointing to get that wrong. The cortado my friend had was pretty good, though, so 3 stars overall.

Absolutely loved this place! Service was quick, accurate, and very friendly, and the espresso & machiatto I ordered was so good that the next day, I went 20 minutes out of the way on my driving route to have another one.The interior has a calm, pleasant aesthetic with just the right amount of warm lightning, and the layout of the entire store is quite charming in how odd it is. Two huge pluses for me included:(a) The downstairs portion was very quiet, lit just enough for people to do whatever work theyd brought, and would be an excellent place for productivity, and(b) The downstairs bathroom is a single stall in a spacious room that was very clean and tucked far away from other patrons.5/5 stars is an easy rating for me to give them; theyre definitely worth checking out!

The coffee here isnt the best. My husband and I have tried different types and its either too bitter or too bland. You can never get a smoothie because either something isnt working or the employee doesnt know how to make it. Everyone here is super nice though and the workspace is great (aside from broken, peeling, leather couches - though theyre comfortable af), so I keep coming back and just doctor my coffee a lot. If they got different beans and better treats, the place would really take off. Which I hope they do because despite the issues, I still really enjoy coming here.

This is a good spot to hang out and work. I had a chai tea latte that was made from freshly-brewed Republic of Chai tea. It was quite good. My wife had a nutella latte and enjoyed it. It was sweet, but not overpowering. We hung out in the basement in one of the little booths for two. The lighting in the basement isnt great for reading, but theres enough of a spotlight effect where you can do it. The basement is fine for working on a laptop though. My only knock is that there is only one bathroom and it is unisex. There was often a short wait to use it. If I were a woman I would hate that because men are more likely to leave a mess. Also, parking on Ninth Street can be a little tricky. We were fortunate to find a spot on the street, but you cant count on that on a Saturday. We were in Durham for a staycation and wanted a cafe to hang out in for an hour or so. I was trying to minimize the hipster pretentiousness of wherever we went. Triangle Coffee House fit the bill nicely.
