AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!One of the best waffles I’ve ever had, and some of the BEST ICE CREAM! So flavorful! Thai tea and coconut were our FAVES! And the owner is one of the kindest, most caring, and hospitable person I’ve ever met. Truly an overall positive and refreshing experience.

Very good is creamy and the brownie batter is sooo good with banana brownies.

I get the Ube (purple sweet potato) milkshake when I go. Its amazing! Milkshakes could be a little thicker but it also could be that theyre so delicious they just dont last long. I would definitely recommend. If they added another scoop of ice cream or less milk i would be there every other day. Awesome place!

This is my second favorite locally owned ice cream shop in Durham! The owner is super nice and they are very accommodating if you you have allergies.

I will definitely be back to try more flavors! I loved the ube (purple sweet potato ice cream) and matcha ice cream and they look stunning too! The fish cone is just as delicious as it looks. The owner was so kind and service was perfect. Bottom line: I loved everything about this place and Durham is so lucky to have such a unique place!

Me and my son loved it here! I got an ube ice cream with the fish waffle while my son got cookies and cream. Both were great. The owner is such a nice person and the atmosphere inside is very inviting.

Forget those gaudy overpriced waffle cones found elsewhere. This one of a kind koi cone is to die for. It’s a warm, lightly sweetened, soft, and delicious rendition of the classic cone. If you haven’t tried it yet, you are doing yourself a huge disservice.

Nothing too special about the ice cream. Green tea ice cream was flavored down. The fish is made like Belgian waffles and very tasty but was cold. Staff was masked most of the time.

The flavor of the Ube ice cream was good, however the texture was a little grainy for my liking. The fish Cone would have been better if they had made it fresh and was warm, but is similar to eating a Belgian waffle. I wish the ice cream had come inside of the cone instead of in the cup and that they had had options for spreads (like Nutella) to put inside the cone for some extra flavor. Overall, good service and was decent for being located in Durham!

Ice cream shop located in Brightleaf Square that offers a unique fish shaped cone that they fill with soft serve ice cream and then add sprinkles. Very good. Have quite a few non soft serve flavors as well and more traditional cones and bowls. Really friendly and helpful staff and good ice cream.

Found this hidden gem after searching for a place to cool down after a day at the lake. So many good flavors to choose from that I will definitely be back. Customer service was amazing!!! Don’t change a thing.

A huge YES all around! They have a wide variety of flavors, both soft serve and regular. Their brown butter bourbon and cappuccino crunch flavors are to DIE for and are full of chunks. If you want a photo-ready fish cone but don’t want soft serve they will stick it in a cup for you. They are sensitive to peanut allergy sufferers as well. Located right in Brightleaf it is a must-go!

This ice cream place is unique. It has a Japanese influence by serving mini-mochi, Pocky sticks, and a cone shaped like a fish. The cone is tasty. It’s thicker than a waffle cone. I’m glad we found this place since we are just visiting from Houston.

Sugar Koi is a wonderful ice cream shop that we visit with our son at least once a week. Nat, the owner, is amazingly friendly and his ice cream cant be beat!

One of the hidden gems in Brightleaf Square. The place is (literally) hidden due to the construction on W Main St. The entrance from Brightleaf Sq is non-obvious, one has to enter the door thats next tk Indio/Bull City Art Frame Co (opposite Clouds Brewing). The flavors are awesome with the nicest of staff/owner. My daughters got the SugarKoi with peach, cookies and cream, and strawberry. I tried the bourbon. Fantastic tasting icecream and cone! Will surely visit again now that we know about it and where it is

My first visit to Sugar Koi was phenomenal! Great service and the ice cream was exceptional! The owner was friendly and took time to explain the ice cream flavors and the procedures they use. I definitely recommend this place!

Just visited there today. The owner was super helpful and friendly. I opted for the brownie batter icecream which did not disappoint at all. The icecream was rich and creamy. Will be back again and would recommend.

Ice cream is lacking in flavor, and people of durham need to learn that boujie doesnt equal good. I have no problem paying more for a high quality product, but what I got certainly didnt match the price point, a common motif in this area is to just charge outrageous prices for unique items and think people will just pay for it, because down here for some reason they do. Dont waste your time or money.
