If I was basing this review off first impressions, Id give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, our experience didnt end as well as it began. When we arrived, we thought Oh, this is cute. It reminds us of the nice coffee shops in San Francisco. We got inside, was impressed with the macaron selection, the chocolates and even the chocolate Millennium Falcon. The espresso selections were fairly basic but seemed reasonably priced compared to local competitors. So we ordered 3 macarons, 2 pieces of chocolate and a white chocolate mocha, which cost about $21 total. The macarons were tasty, with our favorite being the rose, much to our surprise. The chocolates were okay. The key lime was mostly caramel filling with a sudden burst of key lime. The caramel itself was tasty though, but we werent expecting any caramel in a chocolate labeled key lime. The ginger chocolate had no hint of ginger unless it was the mild spice I would get every few bites, which was disappointing. The mocha espresso was great, so much so, we went back in and ordered a 2nd one to take with us on our drive around town. This is where things went bad and what led to only 3 stars.I dont know what happened, but our 2nd drink was pretty much just an *expensive* white chocolate milk. There was no hint of espresso at all. Even looking at it later, I guess I should have noticed right away that it was a very pale light beige color, much lighter than our first drink (pictured). We couldnt even drink it because of how sweet it was and ended up tossing it. It almost tasted like it had caramel in it too, not at all what we asked for. Unfortunately, we didnt discover this until we were miles away and it was too late to return then. I dont know if the worker (who was at least very kind) was distracted because of another customer waiting or what, I just know there was no espresso added the 2nd time. So that was another $5 wasted on an undrinkable coffee.I may give them another chance, but the end of our visit definitey left a bad taste, pun intended, in our mouth.
Tremendous. We tried Miel Bon Bons casually and had a croissant, a chocolate chip cookie, and two drinkable chocolates. Never would we have expected to get such an amazing experience from all three. The croissant reminded us of Spain, the chips had a savory touch, and the chocolate brought us back to Ecuador (and still debating if its the best weve ever tasted). If you like chocolate, desserts, or croissants, this is what the real deal tastes like.Wish I had a picture to upload, it was so tasty I forgot to snap it.
Love this place. Everything is yummy. Especially love the bulgogi croissant and macarons. The Chai is prefect- not the typical pre-made liquid. Thanks for a top notch unique experience.
Taste any of their chocolate (truffles, drinks or cake) and youll know the difference! Its like none other in the area. The smores cocoa bomb looked great, but tasted nothing more than a good hot chocolate. A little more marshmallow n Graham cracker would have helped. The macarons were good but some had a very strong flavor. The truffles were amazing. My favorite was the pistachio & rosemary. This place is a chocolate lovers heaven!
Weve tried macarons, bread, pies, and coffee several times at Miel Bon Bons. All the macarons flavors are delicious! and most of the things weve tried are delicious. Some items are a little bit pricey but they are high quality and the service is awesome! The owner loves what she does and is always super friendly!
Really amazing dessert shop featuring super high end chocolates, macaroons, specialized cakes, and baked goods. They also serve as a coffee and espresso. Pricey but the quality and taste is exceptional and well worth it. Small space with standing counters inside and small patio outside. Amazing spot for the occasional or even daily treat.
I was initially excited to patronize this bakery with hopes of getting a custom cake for my graduation party in May however my experience at this establishment was utterly sour! I am a black, female, health professional in my 20s who stopped in after clinic to speak with Bonnie about my vision for a 8” custom cake order. To my surprise, Bonnie was extremely passive aggressive throughout our entire interaction. She started by asking me about my cake request “Is this for a real graduation?” followed by explaining how she is so busy making cakes for people all over the country that cost $1K+ and might not have time for my order request once I showed her photos of what I envisioned.I explained that it would be important to me to feel as though my cake order would be a priority and to just simply let me know if she had no desire or motivation to fulfill the request. She follows up by suggesting I simply just buy a cake and place a store-brought cake topper on it instead for my doctoral graduation party. When I asked for a quote regarding the custom order, Bonnie gave me a wide price range and told me I would have to pay in full upfront. When I sought clarity on the building process regarding the use of fondant for a cake orders, she suggested that I think about my budget first and return later in the week to actually place the order. Yet again, reiterating that I would have to pay in full upfront or half of it (newly added option from 10 minutes ago) before placing an order.I never once brought up money because cost was never an issue for me but payment seemed to be her main concern although I never saw an order form. The microagressions were rampant so I won’t be back. The only thing that she presents to be worth her time are elaborate custom cakes for certain types of events that require multiple layers etc.
The chocolates look delicious. Bought them as a gift so havent tasted them. Customer attention and service left a lot to be desired. felt like I wasan inconvenient interruption to something.
I was disappointed in my visit to Miel Bon Bons in large part due to the attitude and poor communication of the staff at the shop.I was interested in buying a box of 16-24 bon bons... I was informed that a size 30 was pre-made. I could get 4 or 40....for some reason an intermediate size was not an option. On getting 2 boxes with different flavors, they placed both boxes in a bag with no marker or way for me to know which box had which flavors, unless I open it up and check. I was informed that the flavors you chose are so similar.I was also interested in getting a birthday cake ordered, their website lists a huge list of flavors... apparently those are not options unless you are ordering for well over a hundred people as I was told it is too much work and they only do those for large church gatherings or for hotels like Umstead. I was told I could only choose one of the pre-made flavors of the week, sitting in the display. I feel these things should be mentioned clearly on your website... that the flavors of the week are xyz if you interested in a cake for < x number of people. I am all for supporting local businesses but I guess this one is only interested if you have a very large order.
I cannot give enough stars for this amazing bakery and wonderful owner. Every dessert I have ever had from Miel Bon Bon is indulgent yet incredibly light. The owners expertise as a chocolatier shows amazingly through all of her works and I will continue to return for every event.
Stylish little shop on main street with excellent cakes, chocolates, and macarons. They also serve espresso and hot chocolate. Some outdoor seating on the small patio out front.Quality is very high, and it has impressed out of town friends.
This clean, little patisserie has a good selection of sweets and coffee - with a cute, garden-like outdoor seating area. No indoor seating or bathroom for customers.
One of the best hot mochas Ive ever had. The black forest cake and cherry blueberry cheesecake are fantastic.
It is a cute shop. Soo many sweet treats, for every person. Hot chocolate bombs, handmade chocolates, ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, a few pastries, oh and lets not forget coffee. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick stop or walking around downtown.
Not a fan. Stopped here for a sweet treat. I got 4 different chocolates, a coffee, and a macaron. The macarons were crispy and a little stale. The chocolates were hard and the flavors were just OK. Not great at all. My cappuccino was not a cappuccino. The 2 stars is bc the woman behind the register was nice.
We go here because of the morning pastrys/brunch feel, macaroons, chocolates, coffee and quaint feeling Mile Bon Bonus gives us.
This is THE PLACE to order your wedding cake in Durham, hands down! We ordered a custom cake for our wedding with an Irish creme tiers and a chocolate raspberry Portal companion cube on top. Bonnie is a pleasure to work with and was excited for the challenge. Miel Bon Bons certainly delivered as the flavors were PERFECT and we could not have been happier with how well the cake was received by our guests. Thank you Bonnie!
They strive for perfection and deliver it. We ordered a birthday cake from here and it was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had! It was light and fluffy and perfectly balanced. The owner was so professional and worked to ensure that we were happy with our choice. The cake was beautifully decorated and tasted great. Would highly recommend them!
Stopped in there today for the first time and got to talk to the owner Bonnie. A beautiful and very pleasant woman who is a fantastic chef! The place was very clean and colorful and just follow the most wonderful delightful treats. I bought two slices of cake. One was a pecan and the other ... well Im not sure but it sure looked good so I bought it.They were delicious! Really delighted my hostess later that night after dinner.
Bonnie made a two tier cake for our 50th anniversary party at the Washington Duke. The guests praised the cake--said it was as light as angel food. The fillings and frosting garnered rave reviews. She also made up little favor boxes of chocolate and raspberry truffles. Delicious. I cant stress enough how pleased we were with Bonnies treats for this special occasion.
Update December 2019: I had to buy the bûche de noël after trying it earlier during the year. I was thinking I would get something that was sold in the store but wow! Instead I got an amazing looking bûche de noël! Definitely order one in the store for a special occasion! (or feel free to order one just because you feel like it.)Update 2019: Bonnie is a wonderful chef. As always, the French Macarons are probably the best in the triangle area. The pastries are a great addition to the shop. Also, the cakes are wonderful too. The names are a bit too complicated for me to pronounce but the chocolate roll cake thing was amazing. It was like a soft sponge cake dissolving in your mouth while releasing rich chocolate flavor. If you do get it make sure to eat it slowly to fully appreciate the flavor. I cant talk about the new espresso machine because I dont drink coffee but the tea was good too. I tried the Mariage green tea and the herbal flavor was wonderful. Also, her new shop location and looks are fantastic!!!! Make sure to check it out! Definitely a place to go for afternoon tea time (who doesnt do afternoon tea time!) or weekends just to relax!Past review: Miel Bon Bons has one of the most delicious Macarons and chocolate in town if not the best. I would recommend this place to anybody in a heart beat! Make sure to check out the pistachio macarons if you love pistachios!
Very cute mini cottage in a city. Full of desserts and sweet smells.
Came here for some macarons. I understand that macarons are generally not cheap, especially ones of higher quality. I was very disappointed as these had the same quality as store-bought macarons from Costco but asking for twice the price. I’m giving two stars because the cake is the only thing there worth your money as it was rather delicious!
So amazingly delicious. The latte and the drinking chocolate was sublime. The pastries were flaky, buttery and full of flavor. Def taste all the elements with a balanced sweetness. And oh man the chocolate!!! The olive oil lemon is to die for. 10 out of 10 stars! Will be demanding my hubby buy me chocolate from her for every occasion.
A little pricey but excellent quality, especially for the area. Pastries, bon bon, chocolates, ice cream, coffee / espresso, gift boxes, hot chocolate bombs. They have it all. Friendly staff.
I have no words to sufficiently describe the perfection that is Miel Bon Bons chocolate. It needs a poem. But I will say this: I make it a point to find the chocolate shop in every new place I visit. Ive tried the fanciest chocolate I could find in NYC, Belize, Barcelona, ... Im always on that hedonistic quest for the best chocolate and I dont care how much it costs. But guess where the best chocolate Ive ever had is located? Right in my home town. The lady chocolatier at Miel Bon Bons is some kind of magician. Its perfect.
The chocolate cake is soooo good! Cute little spot!
This place is awesome and the Deserts are absolutely amazing! Was in Durham for the day from Charlotte and wanted something sweet. This place is a new favorite and anytime we are near we will be stopping by. The deserts are creative and so decadent like rosemary pistachio chocolate and lavender chocolate and both are mind blowing delicious. The owner was in and was so incredibly kind and helpful explaining any questions. This place is wonderful stop by you want regret it. God Bless!
Delicious, beautiful chocolates and truffles. Creamy ice cream. Wonderful, genuine owner. Super clean and neat decor. Great coffee. Nice sitting outside. Perfect experience!!
Paid $50 to have macaroons delivered for my mothers birthday. They call saying i would need to pay another $25 to get the deal that i purchased online 3 days earlier. Now she gets nothing for her birthday. Horrible service.Update since they claim to not deliver, this is from Postmates showing delivery options. Maybe you should remove your company from their site before making false claims.
Expensive 6 french macaroons are $19. They are not even that much any where else. But they were really good. I will give it 2 stars because of the price.
The kiddos say “best ice cream I’ve had!”
I had the Oreo bliss cake today and it was absolutely incredible. Will definitely be coming back to try more of her delicious and beautiful looking treats!
Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir got me here lol. I’ve never had a French Macaron before and this place has definitely met my expectations. I got one of each flavor. Well worth it. I will be back soon...like sometime this month lol
Everything looks gorgeous, looking forward to tasting everything!
The dark chocolate concerto cake was just too delicious and amazing. I was longing to have that kind of cake for long time and my wish came true after visiting here. Great cake shop and customer service.
O.M.G. The absolute best almond pear tart! I took a little walk from the Marriott and found this gem of a bakery and candy shop. in addition to the tart, I bought several truffles and candies. The candy was just as good as the tart. Creative and delicious!!
So, I can get 6 macarons from Miel Bon Bons for $17, or I can get 36 from Costco for a dollar less, and will say that Miel Bon Bons offers by far the better value. Sure, its nice to pound down a bunch of cookies every once in a while, but what you are buying here is a transcendent flavor experience. With every bite, you just have to stop and say, oh my word that is sooooo good. The chocolates are also out of this world. So treat yourself! You deserve it!
The chocolate cake with chocolate, vanilla and strawberry mousse was absolutely phenomenal. Their chocolates was so shiny and looked delicious as well. The employees was so nice and answered all of our questions.
Mum ordered a dulce de leche cake for Father’s Day. An inaccurate description as it was just a basic white cake with frosting. The sponge was ok, but the cream was quite inedible. It was a white, waxy cream that tasted synthetic and left an oily aftertaste.
Went for the first time to get a gift, and was really impressed. Great selection of chocolates. The staff was very helpful. Chocolates were delicious! I highly recommend them and will definitely be back.
You have got to meet Chef Bonny and her friendly staff of chocolate crafters. New to the area. Main st has welcomed Miel Bon Bons to the area in a beautifully designed, city approved building. With top of the line custom cakes and chocolate delights to add to your morning expresso you are sure to be as happy as I was throughout my day.Great for custom orders for holiday parties, office get togethers and any time celebrations. You will need many trips to a sure new favorite to taste the menagerie of tastes collected in one place.Miel Bon Bons is the cherry on top. Thank you for being here.Welcome to Bull City.
Super cool chocolate and candy store. Homemade confections and made on-site chocolate. Recommend very highly. Edit - This store continues to be a favorite. I visited to find something to celebrate my wifes birthday, and the Key Lime confection was amazing.
I ordered 2 birthday cakes for our monthly office birthday lunch. OMG was I overwhelmed with the beautiful elegant delicious cakes! The best decision I have made this month was ordering from Miel Bon Bons !!The chocolate torte and Passion fruit-Mango cakes we out of this world and I was the star of the monthly birthday-party hosts. Miel Bon Bons sets a very high bar for all other bakeries to achieve. Thank you so much for delivering I really appreciate it!!
Delicious chocolates that are obviously made with care. We have only dropped in to buy chocolates and have not placed special orders, but our experience has only been exceptional and much care and attention was taken to packing our order and making sure we can transport it home safely. We have taken our kids there to order treats and have never felt like kids are not welcomed, which is nice for an upscale chocolate shop.
We decided to go with Miel Bon Bons for our wedding cake. Once we came in for our tasting and took a bite of our first sample, we realized that we had entered a bakery that would more then please our palates. The cake itself was phenomenal and I would post a picture, but we have not received our pictures back yet from our wedding photographer.
We got our childs blessing cake from Miel Bon Bons. She did a fantastic job and the cake tasted amazing. We showed her a couple of pictures of cakes we liked and she created exactly what we invisioned for a reasonable price. I would 100% recommend her for any and all events.
Macarons to die for. Beautifuly artistic sweets that will keep you coming back. The owner is a sweetheart and the atmosphere is pleasant, do not hesitate to impress by stopping here.
The best chocolates I have EVER had! I get chocolates from here for pretty much every gift I give now and everyone loves them.
My husband got valentine chocolates for me and my daughter and it was the best chocolate ever.

We have purchased amazing and high quality products from day 1 and havent bee incredibly satisfied after all 20+ visits for various special occasions including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and
My husband buys me these for special occasions! The chocolates and macarons are both excellent. Hate to share ;)
