It was my first time there. I wanted to make gyros at home. Looked them up and I am very happy with my results. I went into the store and a female approached me and asked if I needed help. I told her what I wanted and she got her son to help me. Awesome family ran store. Customer service was great and they were friendly. I will be going back.

Clean and tidy store, friendly staff with competent English skills, meat market is sanitary, insanely cheap spices/cooking oils, & store is always stocked. Everything is affordable, organized, and a wide variety of pan middle eastern products is available. Favorite ethnic store in Durham; across the street from the Coop grocery so perfect for one stop shopping if youre a member.

We find everything we are looking for all the time, I love that so much variety of turkish products they sell. The owners are very nice.

An absolute Durham gem. This is our new go-to for halal meats, particularly fresh lamb, but the extensive grocery has Mediterranean and European staples from all over, in addition to Middle Eastern name brands. If you need your fix of ajvar, or zakuska, or your paprika, they have it all here.

I really enjoyed perusing the selection at Taiba Market. I was really excited about their selection of coffee and teas, and there were many things in the store that looked appealing to me/I want to try. They have a well-rounded selection of staple items, the store is clean, and the people working there are very nice. They also scored major points for being open on Christmas. Im really looking forward to my next trip and trying more of their products. Great market in a great location.

Whenever I need to cook something with meat I come to this store because their meat counter is always impeccably clean. There is a great selection of spices and pickled foods as well, and everyone who works here is friendly. I love this little local market!

The staff at Al-Taiba is fabulous, very welcoming, and helpful with suggestions. On two separate occasions I have asked about items that they didn’t normally stock. The next time I visited, those items were on the shelf, even though I hadn’t asked for a special order! I love the dairy selections and the two kinds of Iraqi bread that they recently started to carry is out of this world. I can’t get enough of it!!

Since we live around 30 minutes driving from Al Taiba, so we usually come to this store monthly to stock up our halal meat. Actually there’s another halal market nearby, but we just love their quality products and service they provided. Definitely one of our favorite halal market since we arrived in the US.

My first time here. They were very friendly, especially explaining the difference from our meat and halal (my sister had A LOT of questions). I bought chicken and it was so delicious and fresh. I cant wait until I can get some beef.

I visited the store last week and was really impressed with the new product selections that theyve brought. I also love their meat selection and the fact that their meats are halal and fresh. Fresh meat is delivered to store twice a week so you know that meat is not old.

The beef meat is superior! Very fresh and smells incredibly nice when handled.They also have a variety of authentic mediterranean and middle eastern items from Lebanon, Palestine, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq and other countries.

This is the best place to get fresh halal meat, spices, sweets and so much more.. They even have Ajvar! The staff is always friendly and helpful.

This market has unusual items Ive never seen at other markets. I got some Syrian cheese that was excellent and some middle Eastern sweets that were very good. Im curious about other items I saw. It also has a meat counter.

The best store in Durham

Do not trust them, they sold me chicken nuggets that expires 5 months ago. The date on best used by section was erased but it was still readable. 4 days later I realized and called them to change it he said he cant change it because 4 days past.

I have been coming to this shop for over a year on a weekly basis. Today for the first time i had to return a bag of rice because it smelled like raw sewage when boiled. The owner refused to take it back. Him and his wife argued with me for 15 minutes. This is the same brand that i had been buying from them before. Finally i told them that they dont have to take it back, i could just turn it into the health department and see of you are selling tainted rice that could be a public health risk. They finally relented and took it back. I really dont understand why they risked a $16 bag of rice and lose a regular customer who spends over $50 every week. And also refused to accept that this could be a public health issue and they should test that rice.
