I like grabbing something quick to eat! the food is good the only issue I see is that the women that work there either had a bad day or they just dont like what they do! they move too slow.. and I guess a management really doesnt care because theyre like this everyday other than that all is good.
Pricey, bad, bad customer service, treat the Raza not too goid.
Not enough cashiers long lines during covid times not good
I ordered a tres leche cake for my son high school graduation, first the customer service is really un- professional. When I placed the order, the employee there was helpful. But when I went to pick up the cake, the employees all the sudden was not professional. I was next on line and she choose a random person, who isn’t in line, to help before me. I found out they were friends, as the customer left the employee and told the customer to call me on my cell phone. They were making comments about me because I was making complaint to the employee to please help me out because I was first and they were loud, so I can her what they are saying about me. The employee made a statement that she is a friend just to give her one minute because she is giving me some information. Didn’t know employees can take automatic breaks if there friends shows up to there workplace. Also I have purchased cakes from these people before, one time, my tres leche cake had the milk spoiled, only lasted one day, tasted horrible to, supposedly to be “fresh.” It was also refrigerated at home because they said it has to, still tasted horrible. This is the last time I order any cake from this establishment.
Unfortunately, this place has disappointed me again. The masa gave all family members diareah/Chorro and sever stomach pain. went back to store for refund and they gave me a very hard time. Did they want me to bring back the extra,Extra greasy tamales back? The pot i Cooked them in was full of Manteca. No more Amapola for me or my family. They need to take care of their customers. Ive been a customer for yrs at this location. Tamales all my life from Amapola in Compton . Dont go to Downey store, they dont apreciate their customers. Esta tienada no atiende bien a sus clientes de toda la vida!
Ive probably been fed Amapola tortillas since conception. Theres just nothing that compares. On the weekends tortillas run out fast. You have a better chance at finding them on a Wednesday afternoon for sure. This store is a convenience store, so be mindful that prices are higher than your regular grocery chains like Ralphs or Food4less.
Always clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great deli and delicious bakery.Prices are also reasonable.
Good quality in food and prices but bathrooms need an upgrade and a good clean up daily. Great cashiers, they are amiable.
Busy today. Friendly and helpful employees.
The pork meat is very well cooked and excellent for tacos I highly recommend that place for meat.
So clean. And very friendly employees
Nice and clean store good customer service 👍
Great Hispanic food and groceries, variety of fresh veggies and fruits.
Do not buy cakes from here please even if you have to pay a little more, they are old and expensive. Hard and old, fruit is fermented.
This market caters to the Mexican community, but all are welcome..xlnt variety helpful staff.
I been getting the masa for tamales at this location since 2007 there has always been a lot of people though this one the line use to move quick last time I was here it was about 5 years ago
This place has been our weekend food to go for many years. It is always satisfying and the Bolio bread is the softest.
Love the chicken the sell cooked on charcoal, its a reasonable price at $11.00 for a whole chicken with corn tortillas and salsa.
The pre-made selections of salsas and chips, cheese, meat and their in-store restaurant side window. AMAZINNNNNNNG!💎🔥💎🔥💎☺️🥰
I bought tamales today an they are usually good BUT TODAY THE TAMALES WERE OLD TASTING AN HARD NOT GOOD AT ALL 😱😱😱
Meat department the employees very nice and helpful.Cashier lines very short. The line to get in only 10 minutes
I buy the refried beans here they are really good
Every time I go to this market in Downey They never have what I need. Thats why I always go to Amapola next to the 105 fwy.
This is a great place to get the stuff to make tamales, unfortunately theres not that many amapolas sí ir gets super busy! Still its worth it!
Great variety and can find most things here.
Found the ingredients for a recipe and the service is great!
Busy place during the holiday because Amapola has the best masa for tamales
The masa here is well prepared & great tasting for tamales.
Great tortillas
Love this place Ive been their customer since 1983! Love their carnitas, chicharones, tortillas, and fresh baked bread! Nit to mention their masa for tamales
Chilis Rellenos and carnitas
Menudo, carnitas and aguachile shrimp is DELICIOUS!!
Everything is good and fresh 👍😃
They had the masa ready very clean.. Felt safe .. During this pandemic..its a tradition to get the masa for our Christmas tamales.. Since 80s
I really like going to this store since I’m trying to step up my spanish game. I appreciate that being a regular there that they always speak Spanish with me because they know I’m trying to learn.I go at least 3 times a week since it’s so close to my place. I really like getting the fresh meat and the produce. Mostly I like the friendly and helpful staff.
Good products, and good food, great customer service.
Good fresh bread, the meat dept was clean and even though I had two people in front of me, I still got fast friendly service.
The best tortas ahogadas I ever try on USA
I dont really like to shop at Hispanic markets but this time I needed milk. Came out with Mexican pastries and they were delicious. It may not seem like much but keeping the touch and flavors of central Mexicos bakeries is something you dont find just anywhere. Kudos on that.
Line moves fast and hardly any waiting inside
Very clean, food from the deli very delicious, meat very tender, bakery also very delicious. Also everything is fresh, employees are very friendly.
Theres a long line for the tamale dough, but it is going to be worth the wait. Employees here are very generous, my family and additional family have been using this markets tamale dough for over 40 years, I tell you there is no other like it. Very well prepared, ready to add the second main ingredient for its delicious flavor.
Love the masa and cooked food
Fast service at this time of day. (4:30pm)
This market can use some cleaning. I went because it has Hispanic items. Moderate pricing. Service was OK. But in this time of Covid, I was unsure if they sanitize at all.
The best corn tortillas in California
We mainly come here to get many or to hey what we need to make pozole
I bought a cake here and my brother Found 2 big hairs in the cake
The best carnitas Anywhere! And the best hand made corn tortillas. I forgot to take a picture sorry. Its the best Mexican Deli Market in Los Angeles County !
A kind man told me that this specific market has the best tamale masa-better than the one in my shopping cart...??? Going to give it a try!! Happy New Year!!
Employees dont know how to treat customers. Personale always serve with a sour face on.
Every employee very polite. Starting from the security guard in the front
Good tamales and bolillos.
Good place to buy temale mesa
Love this place been going for more than 10 years. Staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you. God bless you all🙋
Went today 30 minutes before closing and when i arrived was not let in very poor management and rude staff.
Good food
Well organized workers helpfull
I love it!
Is this the place with the bad masa?
Best masa ever ❤
Very friendly place but quite expensive
The carnitas are the best.. Tamales..
My husband and I absolutely love the hand-made tortillas Amapola makes there. I felt as though I was back in Mexico. Youll also love their prepared food you can eat there or take home. Yummy!
Its a good store to shop for your Mexican ingredients homemade tortillas nice and warm made from their own company. They also serve hot meals/ enchiladas / ready to. go Mexican food. Its a 3 1/2 star for this store services cold be better plus the last couple of years they ruining every body tamales masa was not good for allot of customer news complain 😱
Would not reimburse my friend for bad masa. She proved it with receipts and product. They said they couldnt do anything about it. Bad business.
I love this place. If it was closer to me, I would be doing all my shopping there. They have everything I need four a nice Mexican meal and sweet Mexican bread for dessert. They also have food all ready to eat. 😁💜
Pretty good place, they have hot food ready since they open, the bread is amazing. But from 8to9 the lines can get pretty long.
I like, one of the market most clean en Los Angeles County
Dirty around the rims where the bread & sweet bread its a bacteria build. I reported to manager she laughed its NOT MY JOB. I LEFT THE SUPER MARKET I SWEAR I WOULD NEVER RETURNED.
Really good food market everything for your holiday cooking and every day grocery shopping
I went to buy tortillas and ended up having lunch at the deli. So much good tasty food.
Great medium size Latin grocery store. It specializes in selling freshly made cornmeal for tortillas and tamales. I love the small plastic wheeled grocery basket. Check it out.
I liked
This is a market? 🤣 First and last time I shop there. Staff are rude, customers arent much better and they dont have packaged meats, so youre forced into carniceria.
Unprofessional employees especially ladies working there. They get jealous if one of their male co workers smile with customers. And they are rude .
Great prices. Good place to shop for a quick stop.
Actually I just went for the masa for tamales it was highly recommended and to find out my cousin gets her to Masa. Will be taking some back home to make tamales for my family.
Best place to get fresh tortillas. The parking can be a hassle at certain hours though. They also have cooked food you can buy which is pretty good.
My Cousin, Ms Jimenez, purchased Masa, 80 LBS and other ingredients, to make tamales at Christmas, the tamale masa was bad. Tamales ruined, shes was promised a full reimbursement, and never got it. She has called them several times, and they never return her calls. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES
Tasty tamales for sale here at a reasonable price! And if you are fond of corn try a champurrado, drink to accompany your tamale! You wont even need a dessert there is chocolate inside the beverage!
Very frendly
My wife took us here. Id never been here, but it was pretty cool in here. From market, to deli, good selection and very clean and well presented.
I love their masa for tamales. Their desserts and cakes are good
The cooked food here is some of the best from a supermarket/deli. The prices for regular items are high but not as bad as a few other markets in the area. When I come here it is mainly for the bakery or deli. Try the Tamales and the tacos de asada. They are pretty good. If you like Carnitas this place has some of the best. For lunch (or dinner) you can usually pick up a food plate which consists of rice, beans and a guisado Which is a meat or stew of the day so far Ive not tried anything that disappointed. If you have a sweet tooth and enjoy pasteles de 3 leches this place has a pretty good recipe for that too.
Good Mexican food, clean and good selection of food.Very friendly attendants.
To expensive all the products not it all
Definitely go for the champurrado y tamales now I’m picky on my champurrado but this one OMG! So rich and silky. The taste of authentic is definitely there . The tamales you should try the chile verde con pollo but also buy a Bolio and you make a torta tamale sounds weird but it makes aDifference in you view tamales!!! This is a must do !
Good Masa for tortillas or tamales
Fresh Products And Speedy And Nice Service..
You can find the products you need. Mexican items are available, but store needs to work on cleaning the store. The hot food is not the best. Mexican bread can be much better.
The tamales at thats market is great I have been passing them out for Christmas and buying for others Family and Friends
Everything fresh. Tortillas like hand made .Mexican bread and food cook in there .meat department clean .good prices
