It’s funny how I already see a bad review. I just got off the phone with Ricardo. Horrible. Customer. Service.I wanted to talk to someone else but he said he was the only one there and FYI he’s the manager. Go figure.

I noticed on Labor Day that one of my truck tires was showing the metal from the radialI was very nervous driving back and forth so I called Pep Boys and asked if it was possible to buy and install 2 tires within a couple hours. They advised me to bring the car in which I did. The whole process took an hour and I also got a senior discount . Ive always had very good experiences when dealing with Pep Boys both with the shop & parts department and they didnt let me down . KUDOS to Pep Boys in Downey.

The missing star is inevitable. The 4 new tires I bought and the service were great. I had planned to purchase some supplies for my Dodge van and Scion xB. Much to my surprise, half the store was gone. What was left were old items.

I arrived with previously making an appointment to fix a nail puncturing my tire. Jose was kind enough to help me out after scrolling through his cellphone, explained to him what was going on. went into the shop and came back to tell me they ran out of patches. A tire shop without tire patches!! this pep boys always disappoints. only came here bc it’s close to home, never again!!

Guy in the service area has an attitude problem . WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO THIS LOCATION

Out of Firestone who has terrible reviews, found them with 4 Stars. They should have 1 star. They focus on selling without focusing on the issue of my car.

Had a nail or screw in a front tire. They said it didnt puncture the steel belts. They removed it and checked to make sure the pressure held... no charge! Nice guys!

Pep boys has been around forever. I remember going with my dad back in the day you could rebuild a carburetor and set points, I know Im dating myself. Manny, Moe and Jack has been a great group for along time. I didnt live close to one for a long time,but my wife bought a car from Hertz and they gave her a prepaid service book for Pep boys. Now they have become our go to repair shop. I dont like the dealer I bought my car from, so I go there for my repairs as well. Always fair and honest. Way more trustworthy than the dealer.

When I first got there I felt lost I literally stood there not knowing where to go for almost 10 min When the service cashier finally acknowledge me I told him I was handicap and needed a bit more help he didnt seem to care . But then I left to my car to fill out some paper work for the service idle they dont provide pens due to Covid they said When I came back in I was helped by Carl D he was the most helpful knowledgeable and polite He was well spoken and professional Great customer service

Thank you for the reply, but I gave your staff 4 chances to fix my vehicle, I paid 3 times for the exact same repair ( parts and labor) and when I was not willing to pay for it the 4 the time, I was told to take it to the dealer. If the dealer fixed it and it was something that pepBoys replaced, I may get a refund. But if the problem never got fixed, the exact same trouble codes existed after every repair, why cant I get a refund or just fix my vehicle.

I Would bring my vehicle here at the time for repairs, although on the last two occasions the mechanic misdiagnosed and I payed more than what I should have. This instilled a bit of mistrust with the team, although I wanted to give the crew the benefit of the doubt. The last straw was that of having my alternator replaced, which I was given a price of $425 for the replacement alternator only to find it online at the Pep Boys web site for $167. Needless to say this will be the final time I will bring any of my vehicles to this shop.

Got a synthetic oil change and free tire rotation. It was made more reasonable using available coupons from the Pep Boys website. Along with the rewards program ill be able save more money in the future. Downey location always busy but very professional and upfront about services.

I have no qualms with Pep Boys. If youre in need of several services like car rental and shuttle, youll need to look elsewhere.

I made an appointment for a steering and suspension check and the day I went they didnt had the guy for the job.

First time at a Pep Boys store. Lady Cashier knew where her merchandise in th ed store, and gentleman over the phone knew that he had what we were looking for in stock!! Loved it, by the way store was EXTREMELY clean and organized! Coming back for all parts and accessories!

Ive seen the reviews on this page and feel that this Pep Boys is misrepresented by them. What matters to me when I look for a mechanic is finding one I can trust. Pep Boys has always been up front with me with the prices and the status of the work they are doing. They have improved a lot on customer service too.I just had pretty expensive work done on my car. I went in pretty confident it was a certain issue--I checked online on various websites and forums. It turned out to be a different issue and even though I asked them to fix what I thought was wrong, they called me to let me know they found the actual problem. The price went up a bit, and naturally my first thought was they were trying to rip me off. If they wanted to rip me off, they could have gone with my expert diagnosis and fixed what I told them to and I would still be left with a messed up car. Instead they were up front that it was a slightly more expensive fix, but they assured me that they were certain that was the cause of the noise on my car. After I picked it up, the car is fine and I just found out that their parts are covered by a life-time warranty.Finding a mechanic you can trust is hard. They are the experts and you are basically at their disposal when it comes to the cost and diagnosis. This causes me to get defensive oftentimes and blame the mechanic for the frustration and uncomfortable feeling I get from being in such a vulnerable position. With that said, I have had great experiences here and Im very pleased with the work they do. I really appreciate the extra effort their customer service went to give me reassurance along the way.

Had an appointment for a lift car check up.my appointments was at 9am. Got there right on time put they told me right away that they weren’t going to do it because they where very busy. I looked around and saw no one there. The guy told me that if I want I can stay there in wait but he was going to do it in 2hours! Although he was just there standing there. If this place in going to announce that they are going to do a service they should make sure that they are going to do. And not make people waist their time . Very annoying and disappointed on service that some people give sometimes.

The guys was nice, I only air in a rear tire.

I ordered a part online and picked up in the store. The process was very easy. An employee even called me to tell me the part was waiting for me at the register.

Showed up to get my car serviced one evening about an hour and a half before the shop closed. After waiting patiently to get helped for about 15 minutes, the clerk tells me that they cant take me in since theyre already booked for the day. Cool, I understood they must be busy so I set up an appointment for the next day in the afternoon. The guy takes all my information, including my car type and the kind of oil I wanted. The next day I show up for my appointment and I have to wait around 20 mins just to get helped. Then the same guy who booked me the night before tells me they cant service my car since theyre out of the oil that my car needs. I dont understand why you set up an appointment for the car when you dont have what the car needs. It was a huge waste of time and not to mention I had to drive there twice for nothing. Going to another location next time .

This shop is on my way to work, so I left my car for oil change in the morning and told them I would pick it up after 5. With oil change I had also asked them to check and fix my tiers sensor, because air pressure light was on but the pressure seems to be okay, seemed like something was wrong with sensor. So they didn’t fixed it. When I got there I asked them if the tier issue was fixed, the guy working there said somebody else worked on it so he didn’t know, he checked the notes it said tier sensor not working. So he would check if the tire pressure and see what he could do. Pressure was okay, he said he reset the sensor and pressure light would go turn off when i drive for a while . It did not go off.And they did not refill my windshield fluid, they did not reset my maintenance reminder percentage on my dashboard.A friend of my had similar issue with this place before I thought it was a one time thing so took my chances with them. But it seem like they are very negligent.

A week ago I came here for my oil change with free tire rotation and smog check. I just happen to have gone to Costco. I asked the tire center to check my tire pressure because my tire light was still on. 3 out of the 4 tires were low. They also told me that my tires were not rotated. To make a long story short I was very disappointed with Pep Boys and their service.

I was told if I bring my key in it would get cut for 4 to 16 dollars no issue . When I come in I’m told They refuse to cut my key and I have to buy one for 80 almost from them if I want a key cut. This is horrible and Predatory because it Luis customers in the ass customers assume that they’re going to be assisted the proper way only to be told and basically pushed and forced into purchasing something from Pep Boys auto. Save your money and time go to a key cutting kiosk

I TRULY TRULY APPRECIATE the way they have FREE INSPECTIONS for LYFT DRIVERS!!!! NOT ONLY are they FREE but they have a designated spot for lyft drivers and a separate man there to do the inspections!!!! THEY WERE FAST, EFFICIENT, AND GREAT SERVICE!!!! LOVED IT!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Hell no I wouldnt recommend a job that the service writer is going to give to another tech instead of me. I dont work for free and they know i have the knowledge to work on cars but they go by whoever talks and snitch about someone else to them. Im not like that and I rather work on the side my day off which I get pay more. What i get in one hour, over here takes a week and thats depends if i get the work and the service advisor dont give it to someone else. They lie to the technicians when they say that they will have training. Instead they get mad at you when you try asking for help and if you do something wrong they try giving you a write up (warning) when they should help you.

Really bad customer service from this manager by the name of Maria. All I wanted was a sticker from lyft which I had call earlier if I could pick one up and they said yes. She gave me a really bad attitude and made feel like I was ignorant.

Took 2003 Toyota Avalon with 64k miles on it, in for an oxygen sensor replacement and ended paying over $900. The car ran perfectly when we drove it in ., But we were sold repairs not needed, like fuel system cleaner, and mass air flow cleaning, tune up, not needed for 100k miles according to Toyota. This is dishonest and fraud. Never will I ever go back to pep boys. Im sending the invoice to the Department of Automotive Repairs under a formal complaint. Dont go there ever! Update : The car was brought to an independent service dealer who determined that the parts / plugs that were on the invoice along with other items were not installed as claimed and the service check engine code was not added to the invoice against state laws that being required, completely fraudulent and after providing proof and Pep Boys District manager agreeing, he had no option but to refund the amount taken. Fraud at the highest level. If you know nothing about cars get multiple opinions first.

They wouldnt even bother helping me out with my car. I paid for them to check my car because it had a check engine light so they did a diagnostics. 1 month later my car got the check engine light again. Very unsatisfied.

Pep boys, on lakewood blvd in downey, are scammers who try to trick you into paying for things that are not wrong with your car. My car was overheating, and the supervisor Rafael lied to my face and told me that multiple repairs were needed, when in reality all it needed was a thermostat. I knew they were lieing, so I took my car to a different shop and sure enough it was just the thermostat, not all the other repairs he falsely claimed the car needed in order to stop the overheating. They are scam artists do not trust them and do not let them work on your car!

Service sucks, I informed one of the supervisors there that the truck liner pain was open and if he could get me a new one all he did was give me a look. Unprofessional people there and they are manager. Wow.

I will never ever come to this pep boys ever again! Either they forgot me or skipped me but I waited over two hours for an oil change! How hard can an oil change be??? I saw people behind me on line leaving waaaay before me and to top it off they wouldnt sell me a scooter because it was a floor model! Who doesnt want to make a sale regardless!!! Glad I live in San Diego and never have to see this place again!!! Horrible!!!

My experience with this Pep Boys (Downey) has been great. They always confirm with me before doing the job AND they always show me what was removed and replaced after doing the job.....a tiny bit pricy, but very worth it. So far I trust them.

One employee told me not to use their website to make an appointment because theyre short staffed. He also advised me to call back closer to the time I want to have an oil change done to see if theyre going to have enough time. He mentioned they may not be able to finish lol what? An oil change! You need to keep my car overnight to finish an oil change in the morning? Good grief. So I called back after work when I was in the area and a different man encouraged me to make an appointment lol Im done! Can you guys get on the same page? Geez
