Moved to a new home and Petro has been amazing so far. We set up a premier contract which had great incentives for new customers. Dennis, our local rep set everything up for us quickly and painlessly. Our first oil delivery went super easy.We scheduled our first furnace tune-up and we have an older furnace so we expected to see an issue or two. Our furnace ended up being a nightmare.Anthony (#222) was our technician and he was AMAZING. Anthony was super knowledgeable, professional, thorough, and patient. Our furnace ended up taking way more time then expected but Anthony did not give up, leave early, or leave our furnace half working. He was incredible and made sure everything was in the best working order before he left. He had all the right tools for the job and was very thorough in cleaning up before he left.Please give this man a promotion or a raise. He was the BEST. I will definitely be requesting him again in the future if possible.Petro overall has been great and I will definitely be renewing my contract when it expires.
Anthony took care of an issue today I had with one zone in my house not turning on, and identified other problems occurring with the system that he took care of as well. Im very happy with his service, and he was very friendly and personable. This is my first experience using Petro and it was a great one.

MY furnace blower was noisy. A new blower motor was obtained from the factory. Unfortunately, the one from the factory didnt work at all. The tech said he had a universal blower motor in the truck, and installed it. That one made a distinct whining noise when starting up. The tech installed a more powerful capacitor on this universal motor. That relieved some of the whine, but the noise is still apparent. The capacitor is clearly not a perfect match for the motor. My furnace now works, but every time the blower motor starts up, the whining sound accompanies it.
I have been a petro customer for near 2 years and they have been nothing but polite and consistent with their service. I have recommended them several times and will continue to do so. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Our old oil company was supposed to deliver oil to our house on a Friday morning. They never showed up and we wound up running out. We called multiple companies for an emergency delivery. No luck until we found Petro. The sales rep, the delivery driver, and the phone rep were all very professional, friendly and courteous. We had a delivery within hours to get us through to the next day. It was 25 degrees outside so having no heat or hot water was not an option. I strongly recommend this company as they are reasonable priced and offer a lot for the service you get.
Nadine in customer service was kind, professional, efficient and knowledgeable. She communicates clearly & with patience. She told me about two different service plans. She emailed me all the info needed and I purchased the Elite plan. Now I have peace of mind! At the end of the call she thanked me for choosing Petro and welcomed me to the “Petro Family”. I feel she is such an asset to the company and would recommend her for a bonus compensation and/or a training position. As a first time customer of gas heating and with Petro, so far I’m very happy with my decision. In addition, Bob in sales and Shlomo the service tech are fantastic! The management realizes the importance of exceptional customer experience experience. Keep up the good work & you’ve got a life long customer!

I was serviced once in February 2021 for a rattling noise in my HVAC system. I have a new trans system which was installed in 2017 after remodeling my basement. The company I usually use could not make a service appointment in time. Petro came out and assess the situation and could not figure out the reason behind the noise. They believe it was the filter cartridge and told me to get a new filter and left my house after charging me a service fee.I purchased new filters and upon replacing I found out the filter was in backwards telling me the service technician didn’t even open up the filter box or put it in backwards. I had to get my ducts clean after this. I have before and after video of the noise and a filter picture. I called to dispute the charge upon speaking to Ray the supervisor I was told I was held accountable still and even if the filter was in backwards it still works. I said yes it does but I knew it just blew 6 months of debris in my house which I was concerned about as I have young children and COVID virus is still a problem in our community.PR Services from Petro directed to me were horrible and their customer service feedback was atrocious. I would not use or recommend petro service company to anyone.
The service man was barely in our home. He took a look at the furnace and immediately said we needed our coils cleaned. Never asked how long we had been without hot water, which was key. Turns out our coils are fine, we need a plumber to replace the mixing valve. He never turned the water on or the felt the pipes to see what the problem was. Very disappointing and fortunately the first bad experience in 29 years with Petro. Service man in our home for about 3 minutes. Not the service we are used to with Petro
Our family loves Petro! They are always compassionate, helpful, knowledgeable, and get the job done well. We just had a company come out to sweep our chimneys and had a horrible experience. Petro fixed their mistakes, and recommended a proper chimney sweep. I trust Petro because, time and time again, they earn it. I highly recommend their variety of services, you will not be disappointed!

WAY overpriced. While their service techs are good, their pricing is horrible. I was on a 2-year ceiling price plan where the price was to never exceed $3.599 per gallon. Even though I was fully aware they admitted that not once did they lower their price per gallon, but would not work with me on a new plan with fair pricing. They offered me $3.249 per gallon. Check the price of oil today. I dont see anyone delivering for over $2 per gallon. Shop around and avoid Petro. Customer loyalty means nothing to them.
Check other local companies - Petro oil =s price gauging. They will routinely and automatically come to your home and charge 2 times as much per gallon as any other local delivery service.
I was having an issue with my furnace belching soot. I called Petro at 3:00pm.They said a rep would be here between 5:00 & 8:00pm.He arrived around 7:30 & worked until 9:30. Fixed it & cleaned up!I am very satisfied. Thank you, Petro. This is why I have been a loyal customer for over 40 years!
In booking the appointment to check my AC the lady was very nice. She scheduled me for same day between 5-8pm. Then Around 5 they called and moved me later to between 8-10pm. I received a call after 9pm Saying I was next but asking if I wanted to reschedule because it was late and would be dark outside. I explained I could but I’ve been waiting all day and was fine if they came. She told me fine he would come but there’s still travel time and he’s 39 minutes away. I said ok.We hung up and 2 minutes later he rang my doorbell. Obviously not 39 minutes away- a lie. Then he quickly peeked at the compressor and told me he couldn’t do it tonight because it would take hours. That I should call in the morning to reschedule and hopefully they could get me on the schedule for tomorrow.I was very disappointed and requested they reschedule me since they were the ones not able to provide service. Finally it was agreed he would call his boss Mike and have him get me on the schedule for noon. I was supposed to get a call in the morning at 8:30 to confirm. By 10:30 still no call so we called them to hear they couldn’t work us in but maybe on the next day. They would call back.I ended up calling someone else who came the following day. Diagnosed it with low refrigeration (same as guess but Petro) and was able to refill it and check it in a total of an hour.Very disappointed in Petro this time.
Waaayyyy overpriced. Never had oil before and decided to keep using petro as the old home owner was. After a couple years of getting ridiculous bills from them I decided to shop them out. They were about 3x the cost of anyone else. Stay far away from them if possible such a rip off.
The Customer Service Representatives are always friendly and helpful. The Service Engineer was (is always) professional, Covid/Health Compliant and informatinve on system operations and corrected my issue immediately. Recommend highly! Thank you
Absolutely a horrible experience. Being a loyal customer for 5 years, I always paid my bills on time, I assumed I would have been treated better. I felt that i was being punished for something that Petro messed up on. They locked out my tank and charged me for it. When they came out to unlock my tank they entered my house to look for more issues to ding me with. Petro did the initial install of my service. Why now after all these years are they’re finding issues with the install? Very disappointed, after this experience i will be researching other options.
I had to call Petro twice in just over a week and both times they sent a service person ASAP. Both men were knowledgeable and professional and expertly fixed our furnace. I also commend the women who answered my calls...they picked up fast and were very helpful!

The service we received on a late Sunday night by Schlomo from Petro was extraordinary. He arrived within 30 minutes of our call to Petro customer service; then he fixed our oil burner leak quickly and did a complete maintenance check of the entire boiler system, saving us another visit. Schlomo was the consummate professional. He explained everything he was doing, and recommended a chimney sweep and oil additive. He was extremely gracious and kind every step of the way. He made us very happy we are customers of Petro.

I don’t ever write a bad review but this story needs to be told. Do NOT USE PETRO OIL Company. I moved into my house and noticed my new oil tank was serviced by Petro. I figured let me stay loyal and use their company. When I signed on it was stated they would come every 2-3 months depending on the weather and fill my tank and that it would be automatic. I was also credited $100 for signing with them. I signed in September and received my first oil delivery. That was fine.THEN 3 weeks later they came again, and 3-4 weeks after that, which continued EVERY MONTH! They were filling my tank unnecessarily. Their excuse was “We are trying to gage how much oil you are using.” I then felt uncomfortable having them come and go as they pleased with no notification. I decided to apply a lock and notified them that I wanted to be present for each fill in the future. They agreed.They decided to show up without me being on my property and disregarded the fact that there was a lock on my tank. Took off the lock, and filled my tank. This is wrong on so many levels. There was nothing I could do because if you try to cancel they charge you $599. Thankfully the weather got warmer and I didn’t have to worry so much.I called in advance to see what the protocol was for canceling when my contract was up. The associate said, “Since you have no oil deliveries due, you can cancel now and won’t be hit with any other fees. You are paid off, other then your $150 remaining balance from your past delivery. The next day I received a phone call stating I owed the $599 early cancellation fee?? I called back and the story once again changed. I did not owe $599. But I owe the $100 credit that was given to me starting the contract since you closed early??? I have never felt so violated and used by a company before and I am posting this so that every knows NOT to use Petro Oil. They do not care about you, or your property. They just want your money. I will be telling friends, family, realtors, and contractors what has happened to me. I will not be using this company ever again.
Shlomo came out today to our newly purchased home to tune up our furnace and hot water heater. He found and resolved critical issues that really helped with our family’s peace of mind. What’s more, he took the time to carefully explain what the issues were, why he was doing what he was doing, and how to identify them myself in the future. Boiler emergency - flooded basement on Saturday, July 4th - weekend and holiday of course! Called Petro @ 6:45 a.m. and service technician was at my front door at 8:00 a.m. Repaired the problem within the hour. Great service! Thank you!
The Petro Tech was exceptionally proficient and knowledgeable. Another company said I had to replace the unit and he had it working in about 20 minutes.
If I could give ZERO stars I would.... beyond done with Petro! Now I dont write reviews, waste of my time, but.. FIRST... Years ago the furnace repair guy tells me I have frozen lines outside and wants to charge me $300+ dollars to tell me that. Then it kicks ON, as Im writing a check and complaining telling him that it was ON and OFF that morning but it was puttering all night, BUT STILL RUNNING AND THE NOZZLE WAS SPRAYING FINE, yet he kept insisting their wasnt any way it was running and telling me Im wrong). SO... I gave them another chance. After needing 6 stitches in my finger, I couldnt load wood in my wood stove, so we wanted to order fuel. NOW we are getting our new furnace put installed in 2 weeks, so wanted to ONLY get 100. They said they couldnt break the minimum even after being a customer for 6 to 8 years, and WANTED TO CHARGE ME DOUBLE THE PRICE as Falcon wanted AND they delivered the $100 with a small doable fee. The lady who dealt with (Devon) was excellent so no bad things about her. She even took down notes about our conversation for people because at that time I was going to call back SO GIVE HER A RAISE. But change your policies for loyal customers or you will lose them. From comparing your reviews online, I see who has a better moral backbone for sure. Sorry for the rant!

Prompt service call to no Heat issue. Technician was polite, professional and informative. I was very happy with the advance call letting me know the repair technician was on his way. This is very considerate. Overall, great service with Region Oil, consistently.
Very happy Leo came early and not at the midnight to 3am window I was told. No call to say he was on his way, though. Hats off to Leo, He got my furnace up and running promptly and quickly. Very much appreciated after returning home from vacation to find no heat.

Repair guy really screwed up my furnace. Keeps shutting off have to bleed it, shuts off in the early morning that we freeze to death. This will be #4 th time coming to repair there mistake. Better not get charged for this. Uncalled for.

Just tried to call and schedule a maintenance for my furnace...Tiffany from the Petro Home Services Department told me the earliest date is in June 2019!!!!! I have been with this company for 13 years.....guess my customer loyalty means nothing so time to look for a new service company. If there was a zero stars I would have picked it.....if you are booking out 8 months for maintenance sounds like you don’t have enough technicians for the demand.....get your act together Petro! Had a contract from March 2014 to March 31 2015. When I said I wasnt going to renew I got hit with a 399.99 non renewal fee. Stay far far away from this oil company. They hold you hostage. Contacted the Better Business and made a complaint.

I’ve cancelled service and requested eight times that Petro stop calling me—yet they persist. Just a moment ago I received another phone call from them “as a courtesy” asking why I cancelled service. It’s because I’ve given you an alternate phone number which you ignore and you won’t stop calling—so you call me again? Madness! Also, the representative refused to delete or modify my phone number in their records... so, I’m at their mercy. I’ve blocked their phone numbers. This is absurd. The oil and service was fine, but not the best deal. Petro, if you’re reading this: do not call me about this.

Ive been a customer for 33 years and the service I received was unexcepable. I made an appointment back in late summer and was given an appointment for December 13 between 12 and 3. I took the day off so I could be there between those hours but the technician never arrived until 8 that night. I do not blame this on the technician, Frank the technician who came out did a wonderful job. I blame this on the management that schedules these technicians to do their job I was given several excuses and was lied to the second time I called. I will be looking for a new provider. I see that my loyalty does not mean anything to regional oil
I get these are record lows. Stop saying a technician will call, when they dont. Then to be on hold for 40 minuets to have someone hang up on me. Finally they change their rules as they go. When I did get through to someone the 5 hour window changed to 24 hours. I have children and pets in a house with no heat going on 34 hours. Next stop, better business bureau.
Took longer than anticipated to get tech out.Called @ 4am, tech arrived @12:15 pm.BUT.... Tech was great, had heat 20 later....
If youre craving grief and aggravation, dreaming of dying from exposure, and enjoy spending $600 on a service contract that offers no service, this is the oil company for you! They are the worst, the absolute worst. They clearly have too many customers and not enough technicians. 24/7 service is a lie. They get there when they get there (6-7 hours late). This is the second time in 5 days I have needed them, so clearly theyre out of their depth when it comes to actually solving the problem of coagulated oil because they are too cheap to put kerosene in it anymore.

Petro left us with a bad impression of their business practices. We purchased a new oil home heating furnace from their territory manager, Robert Morris.After agreeing to purchase the system and have it installed we got surprised by a bill for $248 that required us to pay for the towns permit of the installation of our unit.I called Robert and all he could tell me was that it was stated on the contract and that he mentioned it while doing our paperwork. This is a lie as he never mentioned it to me or my wife.I spoke to his manager and all he could say was Im sorry but you still have to pay it.We dont understand how someone can purchase something from a dealer and then later send their customers bill to pay for something that was never disclosed to us at the time of purchase.Thanks for nothing Petro! We will not be using you for home heating oil next year. You lost a customer.
Our furnace decided it was too tired to work so it kept turning itself off. We called RegionEnergy and although they were very busy with other customers they gave us an appt for help. They would be here between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm so we decided to have dinner early. Frank arrived at 5pm and checked out the furnace. He found the non-working part and replaced it within 20 mins. Thank You Frank!!!!! The furnace was happy and working and so were we. Once again RegionEnergy has provided the help we needed. Thank You!!
If i could give zero stars i will. I could rattle off a list of things, but its easier to talk about one. i installed a brand new boiler with petro in 2016. it failed inspection 3 times from the town and petro has failed to acknowledge the issue and send techs to fix. they continue to say the town is wrong in their assessment and continue to make it my problem. ultimately it seems they are just waiting for me to pay someone else to fix it.
Received a call on Oct 2nd to have my chimney cleaned. Thought it was a good idea and asked that it be scheduled with my annual service on my heating unit for October 12th. No problem Ms. Hayes said. Called today to get an ETA and was told she never put in the annual cleaning service, just the chimney cleaning (thats extra $ - the other is on contract). Said I wanted both done at the same time and was told the earliest appointment was March 18, 2019. When I said a preventive cleaning of the unit before season so the unit can run efficiently was logical, Sherri at customer service told me if I have a problem with my unit I can call service 24/7 and theyll come out. When I asked for the name and address of the president of Petro, 2 people told me they either didnt know or to go to Stargrouplp website, who owns Petro, and look for it there. There are 3 or 4 addresses for at the website for that company, not Petro. Luckily, I was able to connect with a supervisor, Mr. Paterson, in Kenvil, NJ (my local distributor) and he was able to give me the name of the president, Steve Goldman, but thinks hes in the Long Island, NY facility - which isnt even listed on the website. So, not knowing where to file my formal complaint, I place it here on the Petro website under rate and review. Users beware - its not the local home town oil company I started with 45 years ago. My suggestion, look for someone local that you can contact easily and have a conversation with.
6:22pm Wed - I am willing to give Petro its due - they have now been here to fill my tank and I am set with oil. The manager replied to my text and indicated that according to his research, I was not due for oil tank delivery until Jan 14. So I want to give credit where credit is due - Petro sent a repair guy here within 15 hour of my call last night -and they discovered the oil tank was empty and put things in process to get it filled by tomorrow morning - which I objected to and then it turns out they were here this afternoon and I did not see them due to work on other side of house. I did have a MISERABLE experience with Petro last year about this time and it was managers who may have moved on---and I want to make it clear that I have never had an unprofessional repair/service guy here - they are all kind-hearted (I lost my husband some months ago and they were most compassionate about that) and get right to work and have a can-do attitude. Last year, I came across two managers who were absolutely clueless as to how to treat customers. Maybe those two have left Petro - would be good if they have. BUT I would love to see Petro managers gather their service people (who are the human face of the company) and ask them what THEY see as the company needing to do to correct obvious customer service issues which others on the net seem to have --and which I had last year for 4 weeks with this company. The folks who come to our homes are soldiers who are sent out by the organization to face and calm the angry customers and do the work-- - Petro administration would do well to LISTEN TO them - as they are the key to people staying with Petro. DO NOT USE PETRO. In short, having to wait multiple days with no heat because a tech wasnt available to come out, running out of oil 3 times this year while on auto delivery/auto pay and with the constant pitch every 5 seconds to get a new unit, get a chimney fixed, get an oil tank etc... Petro is NOT the place you want oil from.I am currently in a house that is 62 degrees with my wife, 5 year old and a 9 month old in one room with a space heater because they did not deliver oil AGAIN! I only had 5 inches of oil left, and our heater kicked off 2 DAYS AGO! They send out a tech and he REFUSED to add any oil to our tank and even though EVERY TECH has told me that if you go under a certain measurement of oil sludge can build up etc... this guy seemed to think not. Not only was he rude and refused to put any oil on the tank in... he called for a filling Monday. Well not it is officially tuesday because it is 12:48am and I have no heat waiting for a tech to come in the next 2-4 hours. Not like I have to get up in the morning to go to work or anything...They are absolutely unprofessional and not reliable. DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE UP!
Been waiting 3 1/2 hours for a 3hr window so when i call they say 45 more minutes. At least the cable company can hit the time frame they tell you. They are constantly more expensive than any other gas company. A year ago the furnace died in the middle of the night and the technician showed up at 2am being very loud. When i asked him to please be quiet as my son was sleeping, i was told i was sleeping too and so is my family until you called. Overall cant wait to switch to natural gas. If your going to be late would it kill you to make a phone call? When we were late with our payment you had no problem calling multiple times a day!
