No longer the massive costume shop I loved as a kid, but now the best metaphysical store for miles. The owners are always friendly and happy to help with any questions. I mostly go for the wonderful selections of crystals. Everything is reasonably priced. If you’re looking for everything from incense, to herbs, to local honey, to any color candles, this is the shop for you.

Best metaphysical shop around by far!

As soon as I pulled up to the castle I automatically felt the good vibes. I got mesmerized in there for over an hour! They have so many herbs, crystals, books, candles and so much more. The owners were friendly and knowledgeable! I highly recommend Out on a Whim!!

The only place in the area to get costumes and accessories besides those cheap Walmart tacky ones. Also the only area place to find metaphysical supplies, and the folks who own it are great!!

No matter how strange or obscure I feel my requests are, they always have EVERYTHING that I need. Everything. Donna is so incredibly knowledgeable and helpful every single time I go in. The environment, staff and overall experience is absolutely worth the 40min trip! Definitely check it out, you’ll be happy that you did.

A lot of candles and crystals

The gentleman in there was so incredibly helpful and sweet when I came in looking for white sage. He explained the types of sage and where they all came from and was just so kind. The only thing I can complain about is the up keep of the store, I genuinely wish they were able to get a new location because there are certain parts of the store that just give off a weird vibe. Otherwise this store is amazing for all your mystic needs!!

If you want to get anything metaphysical or Wiccany in the Dothan area, Out on a Whim is the place to go. They also have fairly cheap crystals, candles, etc., and I would honestly spend my whole paycheck in there if I could ❤️😂

I love out on a whim. I was treated with tender care, I was not frown on, nor disrespected in any way. The help was very knowledgeable, and very attentive to me an my needs. That is what all stores should scribe for. I felt very welcome at the front door. Their were no LOOKS OR STARS. SO FEEL FREE TO TAKE ALL YOUR ADULT NEEDS TO OUT ON A WHIM. PRICES ARE MUCH CHEAPER THAN ON LINE ARE AT ANOTHER STORE. THUMPS UP OUT ON A WHIM.

The staff was nice and helpful. Went here for sage, they have a surprisingly good selection of herbs. There is an entire section with incense, herbs and candles. They even carry Nag Champa soap which is getting harder to find in store. They had some very reasonably priced hippie purses and skirts. Lots of costumes and wigs as well but I was in a hurry. I will go back to browse when I have more time. The castle building is awesome especially when you see the surrounding areas aesthetics.

Constantly changing, new merchandise almost daily. The only store in the area to find costumes for school projects, parties, plays, church events and programs, or just for fun. A vintage clothing and toys section for hard to find items from the past. Candles, incense, and dried herbs. Also an adults only section for sexier costumes, corsets, bachelorette merchandise, massage oils, and adult novelties.

I LOVE, LOVE out on a Whim, and Ms. Donna is such a sweetheart and shes very helpful and knowledgeable about everything in the shop 💕💕💕💯💯

Before 05 this was the place to be. Staff was great, products were unique, the place felt alive. Seems a lot of the luster has faded . Would still recommend, but wow I miss what it was.

Nothing like it used to be! I visited Out on a Whim about a week ago, and I was severely disappointed. This place has deteriorated beyond belief. Most of the space is storage for online orders, there is a thrift shop in one little room, and all of the adult items and gag gifts are in the same tiny room. The costume selection is also almost non-existent. Im surprised theyre still in business.

I dont understand how this place still exists with a party america in the city now. Overpriced and one room looks like nothing but junk. The staff is friendly but that is about all. When I went, I dont know if the roof was leaking or what, but the was a plastic sheet about your head catching water and it was pretty gross. I did like this place when I was a kid. What happened?!?
