This place is fantastic. I expected to be posted up here for a few hours for 2-3 loads of laundry but it was all done in about 45 minutes total. I still stayed! The atmosphere was great, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the smoothie I had was delicious.

We could use more places like this throughout the city! Like at the end of my street would be great!!

Yes, I drive all the way from the West Side to The Commons for the laundromat and the cafe. Its neat, always clean, the matcha is always delicious and the people are fantastic. With free wifi, its a great work from home alternative...especially if you have a couple of loads of laundry to do!

Great meeting space and coffee at The Commons. Had the opportunity to meet the city of Detroit Assessor, who was working with community leaders to help Detroit residents to save their homes.You can also do your laundry at The Commons, get a bite to eat, chat with the locals or find a corner and work!! The ultimate neighborhood spot!

An amazing space, and reasonably priced in my opinion. Also with a great mission and care for the area. I want to come back here to work more often and get my clothes done.

Its a really great community hub and a world of convenience all in one location. Ive only ever visited in the post-Covid-19 environment so no waiting for laundry is allowed inside - only for food/drink orders. But the vibe is still awesome. Great music playlists. Candice and Imani made my experience wonderful the first time and Ive been back 4 times since☺.

I thought it was wildly expensive until I learned about the free coffee/tea. After that, its actually not bad. Plus, the machines are incredibly quick - 23 minutes in the washer, 30 minutes in the dryer.

Great experience here. They serve populace and have a good line up of pastries. Never used the washer and dryer section but it’s always tidy. Might seem weird a coffee shop in a laundromat but The Commons pulls it off wonderfully.

This place is fantastic. The atmosphere is great with music playing, a nice laundry area, cool temperature, and food and drink that are delicious.The cold brew is tasty. And as part of using the laundry you get a free coffee or tea.The people that are running the place are super polite and theres community-focused aspects that make this place feel like a great option for a coffee anytime or a nice spot to do your laundry and relax with a drink and some locally-sourced foods.

Located on Mack the Commons had a very quaint atmosphere...my Fraternity was meeting there for our Chapters annual retreat. The name is quite fitting. The Commons was clean well kept and offered a variety of services. What more could you ask for. The reason I could not give it a five star review is that they do not have adequate parking to handle medium to large groups. The owners most consider purchasing the parcel of land behind their location and turn it into a parking lot.

Very clean, pleasant environment. Went on a Wednesday night for my first time and it was not too crowded; I was able to use 2 washers at one time. Patrons kept to themselves and the staff was very friendly. Free coffee or tea with your wash!

Was there for a show Tuesday night. It was our first time going to The Commons. Lovely environment and really nice staff. We look forward to going to other events that they have. The place is kind of small so seating is limited.

Very nice, quiet, and clean!!!!

They had washing machines that could hold 2, 4, or 6 loads and really big dryers. They were all really clean. They have a coffee shop that serves soup and sandwiches and a few other things. We had the spicy chicken and spicy mushroom soup and they were Really good. I told them that before I left I was going to get the spicy mushroom to take home for my son, the vegetarian. They were running out so they saved me a bowl. You dont get much nicer than that!

Great atmosphere, great lighting with the large windows. Feels calming to help with focus and getting work done while also providing a great service for folks who need it. Also appreciate the hours, open later than any other cafe in the neighborhood. Cant wait to come back!

One of my favorite places to go and get some work done! Great coffee, sufficient space upstairs, fast wifi, and friendly staff. They also have a lot of washers and dryers to get your laundry done while enjoying a cup of coffee. Also, dont forget to try a cup of their soup while youre there!

For decades many wisk down Mack avenue to Detroit from the Eastside never stopping: The clean, safe Oasis called the Commons is a great stop for coffee and a small bite. It deserves everyone s support as it is a pioneer to reclaim the civility to an old neighborhood that needs to be revitalized.

There is nothing common about The Commons!If a coffee shop and a laundromat had a baby, it would be The Commons. My wife and I went there to wash some large items and stumbled upon a neighborhood jewel. It is very clean and orderly inside, and the staff is very nice and welcoming. If you are there to launder things, your get a free cup of coffee, and there are pastries available as well. There is free WiFi, and plenty of seating at tables as well as a spacious counter. The machines work most excellently as well. The clientele reflects the growing diversity of the neighborhood, and there is even a yoga studio upstairs. If you need a laundromat, this is the place to go!

I really wanted to like this place. It’s cool looking inside, but the drinks are not very well made. Was just disappointed too many times and never went back

Excellent, clean, delicious food. Very friendly lady at the bar. The soup was delicious. Free coffee. I noticed some other review say they didnt use gloves. The lady did use gloves in my case. Maybe they took notice of the review and they changed.

The only coffee shop in the immediate area where I can get a matcha latte and honestly thats a good enough reason to give it 5 stars in my opinion. also a lovely little community builder of a place - would love to see more developments like this that are meant to benefit the people already living in an area

The staff is professional and friendly. It’s a friendly and cozy environment except for one unpleasant experience. The gentleman grabbed my bread with his bare hands after handling my cash money in the register. I asked if gloves are typically used and he told me they are used for some things. 3 stars for the clean atmosphere.

I live in the area. Had been hoping that someone would open up a laundromat near by. Clean, comfortable space. Not a coffee drinker, but its a nice place to drink coffee ( get a free cup if youre washing) and get some work done. Laundry area is a bit small but a lot of space up stairs for folks to sit. Extremely glad that I gave it a shot.

I havent used a laundromat for many years. I googled laundrys near me, read many reviews and decided to try The Commons. I am so glad I chose this laundromat. Its very clean; the machines are awesome and my clothes were very clean. The staff was so friendly and while removing my basket and laundry supplies from my vehicle, a young man came out to assist me. I enjoyed a mocha and blueberry muffin while my clothes were washing. The dryers were wonderful and I teased that I could climb in because they are that big. The washers can accomodate from two loads at a time to six - Wow! Laundry has come a long way from single load machines. I would rate The Commons more than a five star if it were possible. I have found a new laundromat and cafe! Thank you and Kudos to such a wonderful neighborhood gathering place.

The ladies working here are super friendly and helpful and just give the place a great vibe. You get a free coffee with your laundry and the cafe is a great place to do some work with plenty of plugs (by the window).The laundromatte is great too, but what makes the place is the friendly atmosphere and chill vibe.

My maytag washing machine broke down at home (it was bought brand new, but its a lemon) Anyway, whenever it breaks down, this is and will be my laundromat of choice. Oh, I think the have space where you can use the wifi and study or work.

Folks this place is THE place.Im constantly on the hunt for a local coffee place I can call my own. A place with local people, near my home, with delicious coffee and better baked goods. In Muncie circa 2005 it was The Cup. In Mankato it was The Coffee Hag. In Brookings it was Cottonwood. I struggled for a while to find that place in Detroit. I really love Bottom Line but it was closer to work than to home.Right off Mack Ave and Van Dyke, The Commons is right on my way to anywhere. Its a nonprofit laundry mat/coffee shop. Big windows allow for a lot of natural light to soak up vitamin D. Everything is so clean. The coffee and baked goods are reasonably priced. Their music selection is the best! From Steve Universe to 50s Motown I feel like Im constantly jamming/humming while grading.The upstairs is really nice and quieter if you need a place to work-collaborate. So much of the decor is upcycled/recycled tables and seating which I appreciate.

So relaxing and peaceful, great customer services, nice staff and free drying on Tuesdays 😊
