I love this coffee shop. Its so cute and cozy. The staff are always sweet. Coming here is a great start to the day. Especially if you get a beverage from here, they write meaningful statements that will surely brighten your day. However the food is great too!! I usually get their deli sandwiches, I havent tried them all but you honestly cant go wrong with anyone you select. I usually get the Cass Ave and add mayo and honey mustard. The sandwiches are always delicious. My favorite is their breakfast sandwich called Woodward Ave with bacon on everything bagel. However what won me over about this place is the coffee, I love that its fair traded coffee beans and just freshly made.

Wow! I just ordered a via delivery app and I cannot believe how Ive missed this gem for this long. Im blown away! The coffee tastes so good. I got the Woodward sandwich.. it is so fresh! And dont even get me started on the cinnamon rolls. If you like Cinnabon... these are better!!! I will definitely be coming here very often from here on out! Delicious fresh food, amazing coffee. 10/10!

Very clean, food prepared fresh and the decor is beautiful. I dont go very often because of my schedule but when I do, they never disappoint. The staff is super friendly.The turkey sausage bagel sandwich is very filling! The encouraging messages on the cups adds a special touch!

Sooo I dont like cinnamon rolls, like not even the big ones you get from the mall. But this place? Omg I throw the biggest fit if Im anywhere in the area and cant get one😂😭 coffee has good flavor in its own and the add-ons are very good. They always write little wholesome comments on your drink. Only complaint, they close in the early afternoon. HIGHLY recommend.

I stopped in earlier today after hearing my friends rave about this place forever. I have to say after spending about 40 minutes there, I will never go to the ”other places again. Thats right, Im talking about you Great Lakes and Starbucks!!! Staff was super nice and they were patient and helpful with picking something from the menu! I definitely recommend if youre looking for nice atmosphere for a coffee! On my way out, I was invited to stop back for Waffle Wednesdays! Ill definitely be back!5 / 5!!!

The Awake Cafe has been a pillar of consistency for many people throughout the pandemic. The staff is fantastic and the quality of food and service is great. Thank you for being that one place we can count on for coffee, food and laughs during uncertain times!

This was my 1st time at this cafe and was not familiar with how they prepared their breakfast sandwiches. After leaving my initial review, I reached out to the business directly and was able to speak with someone. I was reassured of their process in how they prepare their food and this process alone is what made me update my original review.

Met up with family here for some coffee, and it was a great experience. Their roasts are excellent, and they’ve also got some tasty food and dessert options. Will definitely be back again.

This place is ran by Evangelicals- ask and they will tell you their “mission” & talk about the owner. I’m not into that and no I don’t condone or support any religion and no I’m not atheist nor spiritual in any fashion.Moving on, this is a great little coffee shop and the people who work here actually make me feel comfortable (unlike Great Lakes, which has gross vibes from the staff). They keep the shop spotless and the bathroom is even clean.Coffee is good, staff is friendly & they actually have some personality without seeming like they’re trying too hard.I’ve worked at shops just like this one where things seem a little too perfect. Behind closed doors, staff were the lowest priority you can imagine and the mgmt were making slaves out of them. I really hope that isn’t what’s happening to staff at this shop, no matter how much the workers “love” working there.

While the coffee is delicious, the following two reasons I think are enough to merit one star: 1) One of the staff members was not wearing a mask. 2) I had a bible passage written on my cup. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8. First of all, super aggressive passage to pick. Second of all, not my thing so dont make me look at it every time I sip coffee.

This morning I had the best breakfast sandwich, I think it was called the Woodward. Everything was perfect on it, I had it on an Asiago bagel. The bacon was cooked perfectly, the spinach really made it!Coffee is delish too!

What a pleasant experience! After walking a few blocks to see the line around the door at Avalon and recalling tense feeling that it now carries, I kept walking and found Awaken. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The other patrons were all friendly. It was just an overall more relaxed environment. And to top it off, the coffee was so much better too. Bravo. Im glad I tried something new.

I’ve been meaning to visit this place for quite some time and I finally got the opportunity and WOW am I glad I did. This place is wonderful- so homey and cozy, and the ladies that worked today were so sweet. I got their blueberry cheesecake muffin and their latte with peanut butter (how cool?!) and chocolate flavor syrup. Both were lovely!

Amazing vibe all around! Great staff, fabulous food, rich coffees and general feel good atmosphere. I struck gold!!!! Definitely a must!

This is by far the most friendliest café I have ever been to. The staff is amazing, the food and drinks are delicious and the atmosphere very cozry and inviting. You definitely get neighbor coffee shop vibes which just adds to that relaxing atmosphere.This is definitely my favorite café in Detroit.

I never felt compelled to write a review about an establishment but this place is the exception.-The service is always excellent. Very nice employees. Employees are very friendly and welcoming unlike the many other “hip” coffee shops in midtown where the basics of customer service is non-existent.-This is a coffee shop, but they’re strawberry banana smoothie is the best smoothie I’ve ever tasted and I’ve been to every smoothie shop you can name.-Coffee is of the highest quality and caliber.-The Grandriver Sandwich tasted better than homemade. You can tell each ingredient is organic and fresh.-Do not waste your time going to any other coffee shops in the area. I’ve been to every coffee shop in the metro and midtown area and none come even close to the quality, service, selection and ambiance of AWAKE.

First time here and I love it! Great people and good vibe. Look forward to being awake more often.

Great place to study right off of campus! Really good food and super nice owner. The turkey wrap with jerk sauce is something else!

The service is phenomenal and the staff are great. My favorite thing to order is there caramel macchiato latte.

AWAKE cafe was a positive expirence for me. the workers are kind and make your latte amazinggg!!! I also find there prices to be a little cheaper than other places in detroit.

I visited this place by chance one of their first days open and had a very positive experience. The interior was comfortable, with seating thatd be great for meeting with friends or getting some work done, along with some couches and a fireplace toward the back. The workers were very friendly, and made it feel comfortable. Definitely a positive addition to the street there. The warm welcome made it a place I will gladly return to so I can hang out with friends, get lunch, or work with some coffee for a while. Thanks for the hospitality and see you soon!

STRONG iced coffees for $3? YES please! My roomie and I stop by often and it’s been consistent. Perfect place for students (such as myself) to come study this fall, but they do close kind of early. Try some of their food items, I loved the Michigan Ave wrap! Will definitely be coming back!

Excellent! I loved both dishes Ive had. Its beautiful, clean, mostly new and likely to go straight to the top in this charming area because the owner is dedicated. The Michigan Ave. was my favorite, but Im going back.

AWAKE is a comfy little cafe and welcome addition to the neighborhood. You build your own salads, sandwiches and wraps. The Lemonade Smoothie was awesome. I took a star away for the most snooze-inducing radio playlist Ive ever heard. 💤

My strawberry smoothie was delicious! I really like the decor, especially the cozy sitting area and fireplace. Also, I havent tried their wifi yet, but I did notice plenty of outlets, so thats a plus. Im sure Ill be back.

The overall atmosphere/decor was pretty basic my pourover and my salad were amazing the balsamic vinaigrette was really satisfying. I was a little put off by the Christmas music in August tho.

This cafe is very comfortable. The staff is friendly, and there is a wide selection of both coffee drinks and non-coffee drinks (for those of us who like coffee shops but arent into coffee!). Lots of outlets and good wifi make this a great place for meetings, study, or just hanging out. My wife enjoyed her strawberry smoothie, and I had a Coke, but Ill be back to try soup and a sandwich.

One of the greatest places to stop at in the Midtown area for a coffee and a quick bite to eat. Abby, Caila and the rest of the staff treat me like family when I come in there. Abby makes homemade chocolate chip cookies that should have a warning label on them Cant eat just one!! theyre so good!!! Caila tears it up with her homemade cinnamon rolls that will make you forget you ever heard the name Cinnabon! Located on Third Street just north of W Willis, theres free parking on the street. P.S. - Dont forget to check your coffee cup or to go box for an inspirational message!
