Would be nice to have. But I don’t know what my inseam is. I only know what my waist size is.
I came to Detroit Denim Co to get a pair of jeans hemmed. I dropped the jeans off early August and was quoted a two week turnaround time. Most places quote two weeks but get it finished sooner (I get it, Underpromise, overdeliver). 2 weeks come, I hear nothing from them. Week 3, I sent a message on Facebook and emailed them and said they were out of the office and would reply the next day (Sep 2). No reply back on Facebook and only an email saying the jeans were finished (Sep 3). Got an invoice and paid on Sep 4. Got notified my jeans were shipped Sep 10 nearly a week later from payment to shipment which makes no sense. Received jeans Sep 14. Nearly 5 weeks later from start to finish. I could have shipped these jeans out to another store on either coast and have them returned sooner than the actual 5 weeks to go get a pair of jeans hemmed only 30 mins from home. Also, no apologies ever from anyone at anytime. This is a joke and poor customer service.
I ordered a pair of the womens Cone Mill in the slim cut. The pluses first - nice weight fabric, beautiful stitching. The cut really isnt particularly slim in the legs, and theres really no stretch even though they are marked as such. Also, they were hemmed an inch longer than I requested. Might I suggest you add petite cuts and rises to your jean line? And downsize the back pockets on the smaller sizes - they were an inch bigger than pockets on other jeans I own and extend to an unflattering length.Keep in mind I purchased these on clearance without ever trying on so no fault on Detroit Denim. Id like to think an in-store experience would have different results.
I tried to visit the place about 4 times. It was always closed, even dough google maps was saying open. Very disappointing. I live in bkln and wanted to buy something there. Not a surprise the business is struggling.
These are the best jeans that Ive ever owned - they are comfortable and fit like theyre custom made. I get complements on them all the time, I wear them regularly (and I dont usually wear jeans).Ive begun to learn that investing in good, handmade clothing that fits well is worth every penny over spending less on clothes that dont. The staff here are incredibly friendly, hardworking, and helpful, and I would tenfold recommend their products to everyone!
I had a great experience at the Detroit Denim Company! It was so much fun trying on their various fits in jean styles. All of the jeans are custom hemmed within minutes right in the store. So if you’ve ever had issues finding the perfect length, this is the place for you! They can also bring the taper of the legs in, etc. so you’ll essentially get a custom fit that’s perfect for you! I love the look of their jeans and the dark blue denim can be dressed up for any occasion. Sure, the jeans are more expensive than your average Levi - but its totally worth it for the customization and the “Made in America” design. The materials are also sourced in America. I’ve gone through several $50 pairs of jeans without finding the perfect fit. Even though these are more expensive, I know they’ll last a lifetime. They are truly quality jeans! So happy I stopped in, definitely give their jeans a try!
I love my pairs of Detroit Denim jeans! You read that right - I own multiple pairs and have exclusively trusted Detroit Denim with my backside since I was in college. The quality product and top-notch customer service makes it an easy decision to rock with Detroit pride!
Nice jeans. Support made in USA.
Great company, knowledgeable and friendly staff! Thank you for taking the time to take such great care of my husband and friend’s husbands needs. They LOVE their new custom jeans!I know you were preparing for a party, your attention to us after driving from the Flint area was sincerely appreciated! :)
Update: It is understandable that a business may choose to close for a holiday. How about a good old fashioned sign on the door next time?I heard of this company during my stay at Mission Point, Mackinac Island. They made very high quality pillow covers for the resort, so I thought it would be a good stop to check out their apparel. So do the jeans live up to the hype?I suppose well never know. I waited over 10 minutes past their opening time on Saturday, July 6th. Doors were locked. Phone went unanswered. Its not every day someone goes out of their way to buy a $200 pair of jeans, so I guess they dont need my money (or yours).
Wonderful Jean buying experience. They had just moved to their new location when I visited, much of the shop was still a construction site for their new showroom but the part where they make the jeans is back up and running. Tried on a few different sizes and cuts and quickly found one that I loved. They tailored the length while I wondered around and the workshop. Very cool local shop, would highly recommend a visit!
Best denim company on the planet. Great for tailoring anything denim.(Beats iron heart, indigofera, N&F, etc....)
Very cool concept. All products are made in the shop. There is a glass window that allows you to see the personnel making the Jeans, bags, etc. Very nice quality.
Yes! Enjoyed the visit there. You have to check out the merchandise it was great! Hot a business card, the will repair your most favorite Jeans for you!
The people are super friendly. The prices are super expensive. But my daughter will not take off the jeans. To this I say its expensive because its worth it!
My husband and I were excited to finally check out the store, however after arriving at 6:20 on a Saturday evening, we found the door locked with no signage. We called and were informed that they decided to “close early”. I feel as if honoring your store hours isn’t too much to expect from what we thought was a premium retailer.
American made. Nuff said. Merica.
Thank you for helping me find the perfect pair of jeans! I will certainly continue doing business with you in the future. Your attention to detail and welcoming staff were a pleasure to work with!
The staff was friendly, down to earth, and willingly helpful. This is the future of retail - an experience versus a vending machine. I’m proud to be a customer, and proud to support a local, Detroit-made business and brand. You guys rock!
Love my custom jeans!! The process was fun my Jeans are very comfortable.Feels amazing to have a pair of Jeans made in Detroit!!!
This is one of the few reviews I have written but I have felt compelled by my experience at this store to put one down. The store is beautiful - it is very rustic and modern at the same time. But the issue I have is with the service. I went there for my first time 2 months ago and was received with in a very nonchalant manner, but that did not really bother me - as long as I got my pants tailored well and in a timely manner I would be happy. I tell him what I want done and he estimates 3 weeks, possibly sooner, and that I would get a call when I should come in. That was long for my liking, but as long as it was good, I was not pressed about 3 weeks. But I asked him, at the most 3 weeks? And he said yes. 4 weeks later I have not received a call. 5 weeks, I decide to walk in and just pick them up because I needed to wear them for an event. I ask the worker if my pants were ready and he tells me that the tailor just started them 2 days ago, but hadnt finished them. Mind you, I just wanted the legs tapered an inch and a half. So the worker takes my pants to the back for the tailor to finish it and I wait 15 minuted or so until they are ready. He brings out my pants and apologizes and then takes $8 off of the total for my time waiting. At this point I just wanted my pants and get to a lunch meeting that I had. I appreciate the fact that he took some money off, but the timeliness of this store is not good if you need a product done. You can pay extra for a rush order, but if you just want something altered without a direct timeline, I would suggest going somewhere else. They take on a lot of alteration projects, visible from the back of the store, and I dont know if they push regulars to the front or if thats just the way their system works, but it should not take that long. The store is nice, but the timeliness and service need improvement.
Amazing service and quality. Went in for fitting thinking it would take a week or so to get jeans back. Instead, continued to walk around and shop while the jeans were finished. In and out in less than 30 minutes.
Great quality and super knowledgeable and helpful staff. Got a pair of raw denim jeans two weeks ago and they keep getting better by the day.
The best fitting, most comfortable, and stylish denim I own. Detroit Denim goes above and beyond... lifetime repairs make it all the more brilliant
Very cool. Very nice Jeans. Those gals know their stuff!!
I bought my jeans here a year ago and they are still the best pair of pants Ive ever purchased. Support local businesses!
The quality of their products is great, however, their turn around time for getting the inseam altered is borderline unacceptable. My girlfriend & I dropped her jeans off on Mon, Jan. 16th and Carlita told her that they would be done & shipped by the end of that same week. It is now 16 days later and the jeans have still not arrived. Very frustrated with the misleading info by the staff. This review is based solely on the length of time it is taking to get a pair of jeans back, not the quality of their products which would deserve 5 stars.
Great experience buying what I think will be one of my favorite pair of jeans. Made right here. Erics passion for what he makes is evident in the end result.
Really helpful service if youve never purchased selvage denim.
I placed my order for jeans and T-shirt over a week ago and still have not received shipping or tracking information. I’ve called, sent three emails and even messaged Marcus Lemonis all with no reply. I am a Detroit native and always support business there but this experience is unacceptable. I can’t even get a response for a refund or anything.
Great products and people! Wish they had a spot downtown instead of GStar.
Just got my Jeans! I dont have enough good words to say about this shop or the HANDMADE articles they make. simply.. PHENOMENOL! PLease keep the dont change anything and keep the same of everything you do! Proud to support places like this. Thanks!
Great service. Cool duffle bags! Everythings handmade in the store. Very transparent.
I LOVE this place! Beautiful handmade jeans that are custom fitted. Nothing else like it!
Great service. They fit you and help you find the right pair. High quality jeans that last.
*****UPDATE: I went back to the store to pick up our jeans yesterday. I had a really nice, friendly conversation with Brenna (curly hair). Chelsea (the cashier referenced below) came up, shook my hand, and apologized for letting me down during the visit referenced below. She brought up all the points I made in the review and I could tell she was sincerely sorry for how she came off to us that day. I left Detroit Denim feeling like the issue was resolved and that I was a valued customer. This is the kind of service I expect from an expensive clothing store :) Thank you to Brenna and Chelsea!*****Ive got mixed feelings about Detroit Denim. On one hand, they undoubtedly have amazing, high-quality handmade products with U.S.-sourced denim - which I LOVE! I try to support local businesses, and Detroit Denim is no exception. I was able to find a perfect pair of jeans and a jacket during their recent sample sale. I felt like I got a great deal and was provided excellent one-on-one attention from the female staff member with dark curly hair (she even went in the back and put buttons on the jean jacket for me!)However, Im disappointed in one staff member in particular - she has been running the cash register the last few weekends. The day of the sample sale, my husband dropped off his APCs for repair, knowing it would be 2-3 weeks (he had gotten them repaired a year or two ago here too). My brand new jeans had to be hemmed and since we live about 45 minutes away, we asked if we could just have my jeans shipped with his after both were done. Then, this past weekend, my in-laws were in town visiting from out of state and we decided to take a day trip to Detroit. We were in the neighborhood heading to a bar around the corner so we decided to just stop in Detroit Denim and show them the store (we had been raving about it), and just see if my jeans happened to be hemmed yet. We walked in and I explained to the staff member working the register that we were in the area and just thought wed see if my jeans were hemmed yet. As she began walking to the back to check, she snapped Well did you get a call that they were done? No, as I said, we were just in the area and thought Id check. And she continued to be quite snippy, saying We tell people it will be 2-3 weeks. Right, I was asking about the jeans requiring a hem, not the APC repair.Without detailing the rest of the conversation with her, she overall made me feel like asking her was a complete waste of her time and that I should never have stopped in. Again, I brought in my in-laws (AKA, potential customers), who were actually interested in a sweatshirt but decided against buying it after my experience with this particular staff member. The only thing that saved the visit was the woman with dark curly hair. She recognized us from the weekend before, said hi and that it was great to see us again. We told her we just stopped in to look around and see if my jeans were hemmed yet. She very politely told us they were working through all the jeans purchased in the sale as quickly as they could and that theyd be done soon. This was all the other woman had to say - that they had a long list of jeans to hem and were working through them.I just found this trip to be quite off-putting. In a high-end clothing store, I expect amazing service, and the cashier doesnt provide that. She unfortunately reminded us of a male worker that used to work there a year or two ago when my husband brought in his APCs for their first repair. He had a similar snooty attitude and was quite unhelpful. The repair actually took around 6 weeks I believe, which was insanely too long. He was not polite throughout the process of emailing/calling to check on the jeans. In the end, they did refund the shipping charge, part of the repair, and apologized - so we felt okay coming back for the 2nd repair.I hope this is helpful to potential customers out there. Great products and very cool store, but avoid the worker at the register!
The staff is amazing, and the products are top notch, high quality products, that will last you a life time.
Good, positive, can do vibe the real American spirit
My new Detroit custom jeans fit like a glove!! I couldnt be happier
They make a quality jean and were able to accommodate my long legs with a custom order. Their product isnt cheap, but you get what you pay for.
The most durable jeans iv ever owned, work or play Detroit Denim all the way. Irma hits FL and Detroit Denim was there.
1 month in and I wear these jeans everyday. You can feel the quality.
Luv luv Detroit Denium,,, very good visit everybody is professional and kind,, especially Michael and Isabell she made me a purse that I luv,,, and Michael showed me curvy girls jeans,,, will be returning for sure
Very disappointed. The buttons on the button fly are not lined up, creating a pucker when I close them. The bottom hem is bulging/uneven in places. Thighs are baggie and calf’s tight. Also stinks that my hands, fingernails and shirt or jacket turns blue when they touch them.
American denim jeans hand made in Detroit, what’s not to love? Yeah they’re expensive but they will last forever.
Great quality pants tailored to fit
A friend of mine put me on to these guys. I dropped two pairs of jeans off while I was in town. Talked shop with Eric while he tagged my jeans for repair and took a look around their small retail space. Within a couple weeks I had my repaired jeans back to me in Arizona. Ill continue to look to these guys when I need something repaired.
Great product, awesome staff!
Overly priced jeans that you cant wash regularly!
Awesome clothes. Awesome people
Pricey denim that wear well
History Channel, The Partner, called my attention to your brand. I hope they respond to this comment.Congratulations!!
