Big fan of these place. I was offered tea and accepted it. Also purchased some of my own. They had books, crystals, jewelry, more decor than most, incense and candles. I would love to get to spend more time here. Prices are on target or below other stores selling similar items.

Been going to Ancient Ways for a while now. Have always loved the employees and the environment. However since the guy with the glasses was hired a few months ago the energy changed. Before I felt welcomed and accepted, but now when he’s on shift I feel uncomfortable. He has been rude to myself and some of my friends in the past. Every time someone goes to Ancient Ways that I know they talk about how they had a bad experience. This upsets me because I always hype up this place. When I ask them why they usually say because of the rude guy who works there. Safe to say I am not the only one who thinks he makes people feel uncomfortable and judged. Love the rest of the employees

Ive been coming here for 15 years. Highly recommend it. Dry herb and stone collection is superb. Drum sessions on Sundays (citation needed) will most likely have what you are looking for, if not they are very helpful, and have helped me in the past. The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful.

I loved it! They have a great mix of all things metaphysical. Everything from incense to tarot to crystals. The workers were super helpful and I will definitely be back :)

I found it disappointing that a child was snapped at for making what she did not know was a mistake, she simply saw something she was drawn to and thought was beautiful. (She tried to take a picture of the store altar, and was snapped at by a woman who assertively said, its disrespectful to take a picture of someone elses altar!) Children are a blessing, who need guidance from the adults who are present in situations where a learning opportunity presents itself....and you lost a genuine opportunity to teach and make an impact. You tried to snag back what you put out by saying, thats how we learn, but damage was done. As soon as we walked out, she was in tears and asked me why you snapped at her, I told her you probably needed a nap. We travel all over, and were in fact just passing through, (I saw online that you carried a particular type of lamp I was interested in purchasing) but always stop in shops where we expect to meet like minded people. This stop though, was just disappointing.

The employees were very helpful and freindly. There was a great selection of items. I will definitely be going back again.

We’re not particularly into new age and metaphysical matters. We just wanted some incense.We found the shop we stocked with a variety of offerings. The incense was quite reasonable in price. The music was pleasant. It seems like a shop that we’ll return to.

The staff is always wonderful in here. They always approach us immediately and offer to help find anything we need as well as help with information on all things we have. They are friendly and easy to talk to. The store is always clean and put together very nicely. Everything is accurately labeled and put in nice places.

Okay, usually, I love this store. The atmosphere is nice, I enjoy the music and the ambiance, and it’s a wonderful spot to find cheap crystals, incense, and herbs - although the other items are sometimes a bit pricey. However, I went in during the pandemic, and was the only one in a mask. Not even the staff were wearing masks. A woman walked right up to me, not following social distancing protocol at all, and it made me incredibly uncomfortable. It’s an absolute shame to see a shop that I usually love being so idiotic during this pandemic. I expected better.

The atmosphere is amazing, love to purchase sage at affordable price! Also I have taken a class called intuition they have available every full moon of each month for $25 a class, Well worth the time and energy. Angel runs the class,she has a beautiful personality,calm and lovely keeps the energy alive and flowing.

The layout is beautiful & they have amazing options! I would likely shop here again although I wouldn’t recommend purchasing any tarot or oracle decks. Upon arriving home I noticed that I paid $35 for a used tarot deck when I could’ve gotten the same deck on amazon brand new for $12 ($20 on Etsy) disappointed in myself for not noticing sooner but also appalled that they’d charge $35 for a used deck. (I didn’t know it was used because they keep all there decks locked away unless you ask for assistance.)

If your hours say open till 6. You should be open TILL 6. Not closing a half hour early. Especially if you have people driving 2.5 hours outside of their way for this shop. Thank you for nothing.Managment. You definitely need to get your store in order

The energy is this shop is absolutely full of love and Peacefulness. The staff is amazing and very helpful, had a wonderful chat with a young lady that works there. Prices are super reasonable and the herb selection is amazing. I highly recommend this place I loves it and will be back soon. I live far away but its worth the drive . Its hard to find places that make your aura smile and feel welcomed, and this place is definitely one of those places. It was my first time in here,i found exactly what I was looking for! Very informational shop. I could spend hours there. The clerks were very nice as well!

Ancient ways has a lot of what you need as a wiccan to practice safely, it is smaller than the last time I went but the atmosphere is amazing and feels welcoming and inviting.

This was not Ancient Ways, it is now Whispers, a nice herb and new age shop. Ancient Ways moved to 25th and University.

The woman that assisted me was very helpful and knowledgeable about the stones I had questions about. Friendly atmosphere.

There is always plenty to look at here and the staff usually is pretty friendly. I think they are a bit over priced for some things but overall the experience is typically positive!

It *used* to be a great place... I remember buying my first tarot deck here years ago, back when the original owner was still alive. Id come every christmas and spend the money I got on beautiful crystals and nice herbs I could learn to make teas with, while mum would chat with the store clerks. Now this place is not even an echo of its past self. Ive heard and experienced (I worked here briefly) that their employees arent getting paid. From what ive heard, many of the staff have left because of this. Its items are mostly low quality and overpriced now, IF they have what youre looking for. Dont come to this place for oils or tarot decks any more (they havent been restocked in months), certainly not for books, and I wouldnt even come here for crystals anymore (very overpriced). But, I suppose all that overpriced nonsense is also because they dont even have enough money to pay their employees. :/According to the new New Age shop that moved into Ancient Ways old location, major renovations need to be done before they can open the main shop because AW trashed the place. Honestly, even the small shop they have right now is WAY better and has a MUCH better selection. Its called Whispers, and if you were a regular customer of ancient ways a few years ago, you know where it is. Exact same spot 18th and woodland.

Absolutely ravishing small mom and pop shop for crystals, spices, books, jewelry, classes and all things metaphysical, wizard/witchy and magical. I love this place and usually feel very at home and comforted into feeling like I can be my geeky witchy self. Love the shop cats and the occasional cookies that are available tot he public. I have yet to take a class but I will definitely be attending one in the future 🔮.

Horrible!!! if you are looking for a job here please RUN!!!! they do not pay you AT ALL! almost all of their employees are complaining about not getting paid, one of the girls that used to work there said she never got paid. shes only received one payment since working there!!!!

This is a Des Moines gem. A friend remarked on his first visit, you dont find this stuff at Wal-Mart. Pagan, wiccan, fairy, new age items. I get my herbs here for my herbal tea. Books, jewelry, drums, crystals, cards, candles. They carry it.
