Very nice place--first time guest here. Variety of seating inside and out as well as beverage menu and clientele! Only 4 stars given due to lack of friendliness or helpfulness by employees. Not one of them spoke or acted friendly or as though they enjoyed their jobs or wanted to get your drinks. Not even a bit of a smile from any of them. Not good PR. Overall: drinks, environment and setting get a 5; employees get a 2.5.
Good beer. Good service. We stopped here on our drive between Chicago and Omaha/council bluffs. We were out back on the dog-friendly patio with our pup, which would normally be perfect, but the clear blue skies and 93F temps meant that the lack of shade would prove a bit tough for us. Would def stop here again if the opportunity presents itself, but hopefully we’ll be sitting indoors or it’ll be a much cooler day!
Excellent beers, great atmosphere, easy walk up access from the bike path. Staff was friendly and gave prompt service. Prices were fair. They didnt have any barrel aged beers on tap which was a little disappointing, but the beers I had were great.
Needing a place to stop to take a break from driving this brewery popped up on our “places to check out.” You might think you are driving out of the city and could be lost but keep going…. you will not want to miss out. The staff is great, the venue both inside and the extensive outside is a place to spend a summer evening. Brews are great and this was a much needed stop on our trip! If you’re on interstate 80, exit!!! You should absolutely take the detour and stretch your legs!
This brewery was an exceptional gem to find while Im Des Moines! The selection of beers is immense and the variety of craft brews was truly a delight. After trying 2 flights my absolute favorite beers were the Weiss Grip Here and their Belgian Quad. Outside beer garden was also a delight, especially because they have a limited selection of pours available right there. Will be revisiting!
Absolute favorite brewery in Iowa! Has more beer releases annually than even the big 3 breweries nationally. Guarantee you can find something you like here!
Great place to stop for some different beers right off the bike trail. Staff was awesome in helping pick out what to drink as we were able to try some incredible new beers. One of our favorite breweries in Des Moines!
Great chill brewery. Wonderful beer selection and great service. Will be back
Bikes and Brewpubs are two things my wife and I enjoy. Weve visited many, all over the country! Huge selection of beers. Something for everyone, plus a new selection every week!Confluence is the best weve seen and its a 40 minute bike ride from our house.Food trucks are sometimes available next to their huge outdoor patio. If not, its a short ride to downtown Des Moines for food.We really appreciate the extra measures they took during Covid. We didnt venture out much, but did feel relatively safe there. Thank You!
Good beer and nice taproom. Would definitely recommend. Enjoyed sitting outside and having some drinks and food from a local food truck.
Getting to Confluence Brewery is easy. Just follow the bikes. Once you get to the bar and see the fresh beers on tap, youll look to your left and see the vats where they brew. It. ALL. They have a lot of variety and its all brewed right there. So next time you want to exercise here is what you do:From downtown: Get on the Meredith Trail (bike, walk, jog or skate) until you get to Grays Lake park. Take a few minutes to enjoy the scenery, the sound of the water and beauty of the wildlife. Then you hang a left and youre in rewardTown, or Confluence Brewery. Get your liquid bread and pat yourself on the back for exercising. You earned it. And youre supporting the local economy too. Good job, you. Be careful on your way home.
My first experience at Confluence was nothing but positive!!! I was extremely impressed with the facility, staff, and of course the beer! My friend Ashlie, who works in production there, was able to meet a friend and I and provide some really insightful knowledge and fun facts about the brewery, making the experience even better! It’s always refreshing to see staff so passionate and proud of what they do. This location is also a hot spot for anyone who bikes or walks the trails around Grey’s lake. Don’t be shy to stop in and grab a drink! I highly recommend Confluence to all locals and visitors- you won’t be disappointed!
Tried a light& squeezy lemon & raspberry radler on recommendation of my sister and it was great. Not a typical beer drinker & thoroughly enjoyed it.
Good beer. Lots of different brews. Clearly everything is brewed on site...there is a large number of brew tanks on site.Parking is located a good distance from main entrance.
Good Weiss beer, big hall and wonderful back patio, guess the bicycle rides like to hang out there.
Tons of different style beers brewed inhouse. Great staff! Thank you
Great local brewery. Convenient location as it is right outside of downtown. Large selection of beer in multiple varieties. The beer is great and the staff is too! The beer from Confluence is easily one of the best in the state of Iowa. In addition to a great taproom, atmosphere and beer they also have many of their beer available in cans.
Great beer! Really enjoyed the Oktoberfest !
Confluence is consistently a great place to be. They release new beers every week. I may not like one or two, but the next one I will wish they keep around. The bar tenders are amazing and very friendly. I highly recommend Confluence!
Great selection of beer styles and awesome staff. They serve their own large batch beers as well as limited-run selections and brews from other local craft breweries. Lots of indoor seating along with an outdoor patio.
Awesome staff & such a great vibe being there on a weekend. Would recommend to any cyclist.
Great beer, terrible service! The tap room staff are some of the rudest people I have ever met. I was ordering a four pack to go and asked if they had the Imogene Red. They pointed to the list and said if it’s on there they have it. You literally can’t just answer my question? It’s not the first time I’ve been treated poorly there. I quit!!
Friendly staff, great selection, awesome stop on a warm day!
Such a great beer selection & one of the best patios in des moines.
Sat outside and had a fun happy hour. Great beer and great service
This was our 167 brewery me and my wife has been to. The beer and location is superb. Very great beer.
Great setting with lots of variety.
Everyone in our party of four tried a flight. There were some misses, but some of the hits were home runs. Some breweries brew a wide variety of beers and styles, and it ends up being detrimental. But Confluence has something for everyone, and some real quality beers.Great space as well for drinking and gathering.
Best brewery in Des Moines.
Confluence might be the only brewery in Iowa that truly has something for everyone, and their hits far outnumber their misses. I think their Batch and Extinction Event IPA series rival some of the IPA giants, and their stouts and barrel-aged beers just keep getting better with every release.
Great beer. Flights are good value
Our favorite local brewery. Great COVID precautions.
Plenty of seating great beer selection! Will return 👍
My husband loves Confluence so we did the tour for his birthday. The brewery tour is cool and totally worth the $10. The tour was very interesting and educational, came with a drink, and we got to keep nice souvenir glasses. Mark did an excellent job and was super laid back.
Best brewery in Iowa! All beers are of high quality. If youre one of those people who likes to sample a wide diversity of beers in one sitting, this is your brewery.
Great place for a couple fun brews!! Excellent social distancing and masking.
Great beer selection, an extremely nice patio area, with a nice spot to park your bikes, if you should choose to ride there. The beer tenders are always awesome and knowledgeable.
Delishous! Definitely coming back next time Im in town
Excellent beers, great variety, and top-notch people at the helm. A shining example of a small American brewery in the heart of the Midwest.
Lots of great beer options. Great atmosphere
Had what I needed. Did great.
Great beer and great outdoor space
Brews the best IPAs on the planet earth, cant recommend this brewery enough!
Plenty of bicycle parking, I love the outdoor bar option and allllll the outdoor space. Tricky if you park and ride, the building is huge to get around, but not worth losing a star.
Bikes. Beer. Good.
Something for all tastes. 30+ on the list, with a new brew each week. Great staff. Support micro-breweries!!! Lifes too short to drink Bud.
Great selection of beer. Great patio.
Very good atmosphere and beer
Place is great. Flew into DSM airport look for closest brewery and they were it. Beer is delicious. Just a cool place staff was great and bought some 4 packs to go.
This is one huge brewery in Des Moines and it didnt disappoint me at all. This place is very cool and has a good variety of beer on tap. I loved the Long Ride pale ale. They also have beer on cans and bottles. Right outside the brewery there is food truck where youll find awesome gyros. The people in the brewery were very nice to the customers and the vibe was pretty good too. Overall, this is a really cool place in the town for the beerhunters!
Monster cookie beer is amazing
Confluence consistently provides an excellent brew experience. With beers tapping every week or so, you never get tired of their line-up. They also frequently have food trucks! Free pub pretzels. Great patio. Great board games. Great bike trail access.
Great drinks
My favorite brewery of all time. The venue is amazing, and its one of few breweries I can go to and drink most of the beer on tap. Not too happy, but very flavorful. Blue Corn is their best beer. Wish they distributed to MN.
Fun clean well lit and great beer. Service is top shelf. Highly recommended
In general the best brewery in Des Moines in my opinion. A great selection of different styles all done extremely well. Bring your own food in and enjoy an afternoon or evening.
Great outdoor seating along with some tasty beer!
Great selection and staff is really helpful and friendly.
Had a great time. Talked to the owner and master Brewer. Excellent beer.. He was great and gave us samples. Doing an amazing job. Wish we lived closer.
Friendly Staff. Clean Establishment. Bike Friendly. Dog Friendly Patio. Good Beer. Food Trucks. Free Parking. Very Crowded. Overall Worth a Visit.
Great selection of beers and games, very spacious place. I wish the weather was better because the patio area looked amazing
Delicious micro-brews to entice anybodys palate. The tasting room is very large offering a massive outdoor deck for overflow. Conveniently located off the bike trail, also usually has a food vendor outside in case you get the munchies. Highly recommend!
Great beer and atmosphere a must stop and drink a few beers
Great bike access! Great beer. The bar area used to be loud but they fixed it. Update. May 2020. Still great beer but on site they have some cold prickly employees. I bypass now and head to 515. Covid is a big deal but one should be able to roll up and get one beer for the rd. Not here. Bike to Mullets they have service figured out.
This brewery continues to impress - they are now brewing more experimental beers and they have expanded the outdoor area so you can order beer outside, order food from a local food truck, sit in the shade, or play bags. It is especially friendly to bicyclists as its right off the bike trail and they have a lot of spaces to park your bike. The trail from Grays Lake is now paved and leads right to it. They also have a plethora of board games and events going on throughout the year.
Their beers don’t suck and you can’t say they don’t follow the rules. If you come to Des Moines and want to try a local brewery and don’t go here you probably didn’t give Des Moines a chance.
Best beer. Right on the bike trail. Great atmosphere. Very inviting. A place you can call home
Awesome beer and nice place. Food looks good. Amazing place and very interesting . Love the sour cherry Brew. And great people who love to share.
New brew every week! Outdoor patio. Warehouse environment. Dog-friendly. FREE pretzels
The craft beer is so good! Everyone is so passionate about the beer. We love the atmosphere and the location to the bike trail. They have a lot to offer Des Moines. We will definitely always buy growlers to take home to Saint Louis.
Great beer!
Stopped off from the bike trail by Grays lake. They now have an outdoor bar and seating for bikers... very nice!
Really great beer, lots of selection, probably in my top 2 places in Des Moines for beer. The taproom is mostly quiet (no music) but its good for small and medium sized groups. You can bring in food and play some of their boardgames. Occasionally theres a food truck outside to grab a bite.
Best beer in town. There is a LOT of great craft beer in Metro Des Moines, but none of it is better than Confluence. The tap room is big and a bit noisy, so its not an intimate date night spot. Right by the bike trail, so they always welcome bikers. In nice weather, theres a large deck out back.
Great place to meet people and have amazing beer. Plus we love the gluten free food truck not your mothers loin.
Great place to hang out with friends. Was perfect for a birthday party. The food truck there had amazing food.
Had a great time they have a patio we brought our dog to chill and beers were great! Also theyve got a great set up for bikes of youre in for a drive by, cant wait to see them again!
Great beer!
My personal pick for best local brewery. Great atmosphere for conversation and a beer. Always have amazingly friendly bartenders and brewers. Highly recommend the flagship Des Moines IPA, but they have something for every beer drinker.
Dog friendly, bike friendly (right off the Meredith trail to the east of Grays Lake), and super great beer. I recommend the Des Moines IPA if you are a fan of the genre. They attract local food trucks on busier nights/weekdays, too.
One of the best taprooms in Des Moines. Lots of room for activities. Beer is excellent. Limited parking unless coming in from the bike path. Awesome food truck traffic too.
The beer is great and a great outdoor patio. We have been to many breweries and this is a great place to go.
Excellent patio, great beers, just off the bike path. I have really enjoyed their Extinction Events!
Great Beer 🍺 and good service.
