Everyone at HRO have been wonderful and I enjoy any chance I get to stop in. They have been super helpful with all the questions I have had about products, operations, preparing for upgrading my license and more. They also stand by what they sell and they went above and beyond when I recently found a printing defect in a book I purchased. I cant thank everyone at Ham Radio Outlet enough for all the help, great gear and care they put into what they do. When I have upgraded my license, I know where I want my next radio to come from!
I have bought nearly all of my ham equipment and books at Ham Radio Outlet. They have just about everything you might want right in the store. The staff is knowledgeable and will take the time to help you get what you need.
Extremely GRATEFUL to the staff members at HRO. Jeff, Frank, and Eric, have really impressed me with their level of customer service! There was a woman, who I didnt catch her name. Most kind. Most of all very kind! Thank you so much HRO. I will always shop HRO on Iliif for ham radio products, before I go anywhere else.
I was in Denver for a week-long business trip last year and needed a new NMO antenna base and antenna for the car. I visited the store during the height of the virus situation and wasnt allowed in the store as per their policy. Nevertheless, the folks there provided me with what I needed and we did a transaction through the door. Im preparing to be out in Denver again in a few weeks and I hope to stop by and check things out. No telling what Ill need and Im hoping things will be better this time around so I can enter the store and browse a bit. Great folks at HRO Denver. 73...Matt WD7N
Great info and advice for someone just getting started with ham radio. Service and staff great to work with.
This place is awesome, everybody in it is super helpful. They also have great prices!
Excellent and very friendly staff. I went there like a month ago to buy some parts for my radio and they offered me the best solutions. I will definitely go back there to buy any needed accessories
Friendly sales staff. Seemed well stocked.
The friendly knowledgeable staff made the visit a pleasure.
Your complete staff at this location is exceptional. I had a new defect issue with an Alinco product and they handled it in record time. Due to the service they provided I decided to upgrade and spent double the retail cost of the Alinco I returned. Every phone call to them is a pleasure, and I am very impressed as a new customer to HRO.You will note I have left positive reviews for multiple locations as I have had interactions with different locations and I am highly impressed with each of them. Denver has been great at servicing a Nebraska customer per phone and making a return painless. Service after the sale is huge to me!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Just wish they had a St. Louis, MO location
Large selection of Radio gear and accessories. They also have a small selection of CB equipment
They have everything I need locally. If its not in stock, its shipped from another store.
Great people and great prices.
Rushed. U drove a few miles to look and ask questions about some equipment and I shut off. Kept my money for ...
Great doing business with John!!
I placed an online order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. The order was brought out to us and the sales associate was very friendly. It’s the best place local to shop.
It was walking in to a room full of Elmers. Lots of wisdom and knowledge. They had everything I needed in stock.
Fantastic! The new mangers are awesome and made the store so much better 🙂
Mark (3rd day on the job) helped me with questions on a Yaesu FTM-400XDR today and was very helpful & knowledgeable. I ended up buying it.I highly recommend HRO Denver for any of your amateur radio needs!
BAD BUSINESS ETHICS!!! (Point of the story) I called in before driving the 40 minutes, to see if we would be able to return the equipment that we had purchased, it was either a Mr. Ron or Rob that I spoke with. At first he advised me that if I wished to return the radio for a refund, that I would have to come back M-F when a manager would be present. With work, I called back and said I wouldnt be able to make it in during the week, he then said that I could bring it in and they would see what they could do. He was hesitant to accept a return, but offered for an exchange. I told them that we wanted to do more research and see what else was available. We went to the store, walked in and were greeted by Mr. John Thompson, an employee who somewhat acknowledged our presence, but didnt see it necessary to look up from his magazine. Once they begrudgingly accepted the return, he said that there would be a 15% restocking fee. Thats fine, except that they were the ones who recommended the radio knowing exactly what location we would be at and what we needed it for. The radio had barely been removed from the packaging and sustained no damages and had all components except the shrink wrap. Mr. Thompson then said that the restocking fee was to give a discount to the next customer because I cant sell it as new. Well if the employees are the ones who suggested it, why does the company get to basically keep 15%? While we appreciate them waiving the number of days on the return policy, we didnt appreciate the struggle it took to simply get our money back and we were still out $40 at the end of the day. If you dont know much about Ham radios, I dont suggest going here without already knowing exactly what you want, need, and are looking for. In my opinion, theyre untrustworthy and greedy.Back story (long but needed). At the end of September, my boyfriend and I decided that we wanted a reliable source of communication, other than cell phones, for elk hunting in the high country. We didnt know much about buying a Ham radio, so we didnt want to just buy online through Amazon; this brought us to the Denver Ham Radio Outlet. We did some research and informed the Mr. Jeffery Weinberg of our specific needs in a radio and he suggested one handheld in particular that was meant for rugged terrain and hiking. We bought the radio thinking that we had been given all of the necessary information and felt confident in our purchase. We were ASSURED, by all the present employees, that this particular radio would function successfully for the exact area of where we would be located.Fast forward to the elk hunt, the radio picked up zero stations. Mind you, prior to the trip, we ran through the functions of the radio; picked up multiple stations (weather, radio, emergency scanner, etc.) so we knew that we were able to use the equipment properly. While in high country, we were unable to pick up one, single, channel. Come to find out (while trying to return the radio), there is only one repeater located in that area and we would have only been successful in using the radio for broadcasting and/or emergency alert, if we were in direct eye line with said repeater; information provided to us BY THE EMPLOYEES, UPON RETURN OF EQUIPMENT, NOT PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
Thanks for shipping USPS, it literally takes a week to ship something from Denver to the springs. I could walk the 60 miles quicker. Dont know why I pay so much freaking money for shipping just to have to wait a week.
Best thing at ham radio isnt the products. I could buy stuff online and wait a few days. But the advise the folks who work there give you make your antenna projects or radio installs successful. Greatly appreciate all the help they provide. Its also jive not having to wait for shipping.
Best place for Ham radio gear, expertise and great advice. Intended to buy a certain brand and model. Once I got in the store and playing on the radios went with something else. Very happy I could get hands on to make sure I bought what I would be happy with. Thank you Denver HRO team.
I absolutely love this place and all the guys here who have helped me over a number of years. Ive bought most of a shack here. Theyre incredibly well informed and Im so glad to be living in a city with a shop like this, let alone one with this level of excellent service.
I give 5 stars to the Texas location, they are always helpful and ship promptly, but I can only give one to the Denver store. The two Items I have had shipped to me from Colorado either took forever to get here or came completely wrong. The packing slip had the right model number but The box did not contain what I ordered and didnt match the model number on the packing slip. yall either should have never legalized weed or at least be more careful with what you are shipping.
Great experience. The knowledge these guys have is incredible. Jeremiah was able to answer all the questions that I had and had several great recommendations.Thank you!!KE0YKQ
Thanks for helping me Woody! Got a great antenna for my CB and a few spare parts. CB will probably be my gateway into Ham!
Very informative. Answered all my questions. Very friendly. Was able to get everything I needed and more. Will definitely be going back. Shout out to Eric. Thank you!!!!
Great Place. They were very helpful. Next time I am going by, I will stop again.
Great staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Very clean store. Well organized. Plan to go back before I go home.
I needed an antenna. They had it. You cant go inside because of Covid. So you order online and pick up at the store. Sad to say, the HRO website is a bit hard and outdated for shopping, nearly impossible to do on a phone or tablet.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their experience level spans 7 decades. HRO maintains an extensive stock of most amateur radio brands and stock is shipped from multiple stores located nationwide, if not it stock at the local store it can most often be shipped out someday from alternate locations.
Ham radio is a great technological hobby and a way to serve your community. HRO is a great place to find all things amateur radio.
Im new to HAM and am still studying for the test. I went in to get a better antenna for my HT so I can listen until I get my license. I wasnt hovered over but when I asked for some suggestions they were friendly and helpful.
Always good service, fast shipment on phone in orders. Great selection in store and they will let you test the radios on site. Best selection of antennas in the state. Knowledgeable staff.
Despite being new to the hobby, the guys working here were very patient and helpful. Store was clean, well lit, and stocked with all the equipment I had been shopping online. The guy helping me was very knowledgeable and happily took the time to explain the differences between the transceivers I was looking at. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable on everything relative to online. At any rate, the amount of time and frustration they saved me when they handed me all the items I wanted (some of which I didnt know existed) and all the little tiny critical pieces I needed to make it work... well worth a few extra bucks anyway. It seemed there were several regulars in there while I was shopping. Now I know why: because they take care of people. I walked out with working solutions to all my radio problems and couldnt be happier. Way better than Amazon dropping off something in a few days that is of questionable quality and may or may not be the right thing anyway. Ill be back in the near future when I have the bucks to buy my next radio. Thank you! 73. KE0VIY
Only place in Denver to hook up with amateur radio gear. Good group of guys that work here. Will take the time to answer questions and encourage you with your hobby.
Ive placed several online orders which the Denver store has all handled flawlessly. My orders have always shipped immediately and have always arrived to me very quickly as a result.Theyve always met my expectations but today they exceeded them which prompted me to write this review. I placed an order for an item that wasnt in stock at their Denver store. They gave me a courtesy call to tell me that it would be shipping out of the Oregon store instead. There would be no difference in shipping time but they still called to let me know as a courtesy.Hard to find that kind of personal courtesy and service these days when purchasing things in person let alone online. Thank you!
Whats not to love? I feel like a kid in the candy store everytime I go to H.R.O.
Very friendly, but Didnt have amfinal or 4 pin mic jacks.
Great people, great advice. I recently got back in to ham radio after being out for almost 20 years. Needed some small things to get back on the air and found the staff most helpful, and willing to give me advice and information. Now Im waiting for the radio I want to go on sale and Ill go back and buy it.
As a new ham tech, these guys were very friendly and helpful. They introduced me to other customers with common interests and gave me a lot of tips. Great store.
Good place to go for equipment and help especially if you are new to ham radio. All staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Wide selection of equipment and prices.
Great place to shop for all your ham needs... great knowledgeable staff...
Very helpful staff, good selections. Always a pleasure to go! 73
I have been getting my Amateur Radio gear from HRO (yep, it is a cool candy store) since the mid- 1980s. Never had a shipping misque, always have had a positive in the stores I shopped at, all the staff knew their stuff... what more does one need?😎 The best days to go and get quality time is during the week; Saturday is most always a zoo, even with all hands on deck, so to speak. If you need Ham Radio gear, this is the place to get the quality stuff.
... Well staffed and knowledgeable
The only Ham Radio store in the area. Gotta love it or we might lose it. Theyre always willing to answer questions, and very patient with people who are looking to spend big $$ on a radio investment. They also give good advice.
I have been doing business with HRO Denver since 2008. Always friendly, knowledgeable and usually have everything in stock. It is hard to find such a store for HAM enthusiasts, but here it is! -Chris, K7YMI
First visit there today 10/17/15 and the staff there was awesome...they took a lot of time with me to figure things out and answer all of my questions. They have a lot of radios setup so you can see them in the flesh if you will to get a feel for them and even try them out. The store was really stocked with just about everything you could think of. First class place for sure! This will sure to be my new second home. :)
Awesome store. Very helpful staff and very knowledgeable.
This is a great place to shop for amateur radio and communication equipment. They stock thousands of items, and the people are eager to help you get what you really need.
These guys are the best! They are not just here to sell you something. They take time to explain things.
Lots of equipment for all aspects of amateur radio. Good, knowledgeable sales people. Highly recommend a visit!
Always helpful staff and no pressure. Great selection and most things are in stock. Free shipping on orders over $100
Best prices and great knowledge from the staff. They explain things well and are never judgmental, I have never felt uncomfortable in the store. KE0JRH
Quick answers to my questions. Knowledgable staff. Not everything should be purchased on-line! This is a good place for answers.
Staff there is Outstanding! Eric assisted me with my antenna for our new home in Arkansas. Will miss the Denver store a lot. Have always taken care of me for 12+ years.
Great store, found just what I stopped for. Sales people are always helpful.
Very knowledgeable staff and made a novice feel comfortable asking dumb questions.
I travel on business regularly, so Ive been to several HRO locations. The Denver location is by far my favorite. The staff is mature and knowledgeable. Theyve suggested a number of antenna alternatives for condo operation that have worked out very well. So, if youre open to a good conversation and some hints, youll come out ahead listening to the local staff - I know that I did. Thanks HRO Denver!
Great store; extemly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Nice selection of radios set up to actually use before buying.
As expected for store and the guys were helpful.
Got what I needed and had some good conversation.
Super busy like always But the very helpful when you do finally get to talk to somebody
Had what I wanted and got some knowledge. Its a great place to get both.
HRO-Denver is always a good experience when Im in the area. Although Im not usually looking for anything, they are friendly and dont mind my browsing.
HRO is my go-to spot for amateur radio gear. Helpful staff (Eric even pulled the unit I was looking for and set it aside before my visit later that day), and competitive pricing make for a very happy customer experience!
If you are a Ham radio user this is the place to get you gear. It is the best adult toy store for radio users.
Very knowledgeable staff. Answered all of my questions. Helped me diagnose antenna problems. Was even willing to exchange equipment I broke because I didnt know how to use it. The place to go for new hams that need help getting started or upgrading equipment.
I have visited Ham Radio Outlet several times. The staff has always been helpful and attentive. I have bought all my equipment there, and I will continue to do business with them.
If youre into HAM Radio, great store. If not, theres a tea shop just down the sidewalk. Too bad THAT wasnt open when we were there at 1209p on Friday, 16 Mar.
Went by to check it out and see if I want to do business with these people. I bought a simple book on sale. i was not given the sale price. I had to wait at the counter for what seemed like a long time, even though 4 salesmen where watching me. Service not so good, maybe I was the wrong color that day. High prices, way cheaper on line, but of course they have overhead. After reading some of the reviews, I might try them again, but if I can wait a day or so to order online, I will save alot of money and hassle.
Friendly and knowledgeable crew!
Worked with Eric on the purchase of an SDR radio. He was very helpful, played with the Icom 7300, liked it but bought the Icom 7610, amazing radio after spending time with it. Eric and company are the best!!
For decades, a great place for ham shop with reasonable prices.
Its HRO, what else can I say? They had some stuffs that I found helpful in a pinch.I hope they carry more SMA in future.
Best place in town for ham radio gear and a wealth of knowledge great people here !
Stopped here for some info on 2 band radios. Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful staff. Gave me all of the information I needed and them some.
Mike and his team are very helpful and knowledgeable.
Its the only game in town for radio stuff. I wish it was a little further north and easier to get to.
Great local HAM outlet. Great source of info for amateur radio enthusiasts.
All employees were very knowledgeable and accommodated every question we had with an intelligent answer!
Outstanding service and advise. Lots of expertise behind the counter!
The guys in the store are always friendly and helpful, and every time Ive gone in its been a very positive experience.
Friendly sales staff. Jim Jones one of the best. Know a lot more than Radio Shack!! You have questions, Jim has answers. Really!!
The best spot for equipment, parts, and great amateur radio advice.
Great spot for beginners who dont want to rely on Amazon for their reviews and gear. Find information about classes and licensing, as well as HAM meetups.Starter rigs are $265, and its decent quality equipment. NO BAOFENG SOLD HERE!!You can get cheap Chinese handhelds for about $80, or you can get a Kenmore setup that costs $6,000 and a $2,500 antenna.Looks like they do repairs as well.Eric was friendly and helpful, and made sure I knew where and when to get licensed.Largest Ham retailer out there, and since its in unincorporated Arapahoe county, theres no city sales tax on your purchases.Ill definitely be returning.
Great brick-and-mortar ham radio store with knowledgeable staff.
Great place for buying gear and rag chewing about Ham Radio
Helpful sales staff, nice display of radios, books, antennas and all sorts of goodies. Wish they knew more about DSTAR.
Knowledgeable, friendly but seem just a little on the spendy side
Helpful and knowledgeable staff, not pushy with sales pitches. Just wish I didnt have to drive an hour and a half to get here.
Great prices and good service. Very convenient location.
Great place for Ham Radios
Great and personal service. Helped me with everything when getting back on the air.
The staff was very friendly and helpful I will return
Great people who want to help you get whats right.
