First time visiting this diner. I was surprised at the decor and how clean it was or seemed to be.Coffee was good as were the breakfast meals. Only shock were the prices! $$I liked until I paid for it.

I came here because its been here since before I move away in 1985. Theyre obviously short staffed, as it seems every place within the hospitality industry is these days. I seated myself at the counter, a little surprised there were any seats available, given the hour, 8:00am, and the day of the week, Friday. My server though seemingly run off her feet, was pleasant and knew her menu. I asked if the chile in the eggs Santa Fe was green chile and she confirmed it was, with not even a seconds hesitation. Yes eggs were cooked perfectly over easy and the green chile was good. All in all it was at I remembered it from nearly 40 years prior. Highly recommend Breakfast King, for breakfast

If you want a good breakfast & quick service with a smile this is it. Wide selection of good food from Huevos rancheros to country fried steak. They don’t skip on the portions!

A Denver icon. This place is amazing. Went there with my 82 year old mom who had not been for probably 25 years. The ladies made her feel so welcome. They went over and above to make our visit memorable. Chicken fried steak was amazing. Mom had a pancake that they shaped like a bear head for her. She was so happy. Thank You breakfast king for being in our community for over 50 years.

It was great tasting, and the food proportions were on point in my opinion. Even the aesthetics were super roomy and vintage (I loved it). The only downside to this place has to be the prices, they were slightly more than I would be satisfied with.

Went to see if Ms Roxanne was still there and sadly informed that she had passed years ago. I used to like going there and seeing her because she was nice and always had her hair done and a face full of make up.Breakfast King is a chill spot to get a bite to eat. The last time we went the food could have used more seasonings but it was all cooked good and made well. We will always come back!

My new breakfast place in Denver. Lots of parking, food like a normal local breakfast place, service was really good and even though it was busy and understaffed we were seated quickly and everyone was friendly. Cant wait to visit again.

So originally, I had a 5 star review saved in my drafts but after tonights dinner experience,I had to change it to 1 star. The food was not great, especially my husbands steak which was burnt and had no flavor whatsoever.They charged us for 4 drinks instead of 3 and when we told them, they said they would take off the charge but didnt. Then they gave us the check and it was 57.55 but they charged us 65.57 so I assumed they added the 15%tip due to the price being $8 more than the bill. The manager came out and convinced me that wasnt the case and that the extra $8 was taxes. So I added tip on top of that which made our total $74 for 2 kids meals, a club sandwich, and steak and eggs. We will never be back. We could have gone to longhorn steakhouse and spent less money. Dont come here unless you are okay with paying a lot more than what mediocre food and paying a lot more than your bill states.

Breakfast King is obviously a Denver icon. When you first enter, you see one of those signs on the door with owners complaining that people dont like to work any more. (always blame the workers). The saving grace is that they then add for customers to be nice to the people who did show up, even if the restaurant is short staffed. Which, on the day I went, they definitely were not. The place was packed with both happy customers and busy, efficient waitstaff. Plus, it seems like the staff has been there a while which suggest that they are loyal to the restaurant. So maybe the sign on the door really is just a way to protect the staff from angry customers.The food leaves something to be desired. I had the corned beef hash and eggs with toast, coffee, and hash browns. The corned beef was excellent - browned just right. The toast maintained its proper golden color, but it had been toasted to a hardness that made it difficult to eat and impossible to use to soak up any egg yolks. Coffee was bitter and possibly even burned. Hash browns were browned nicely on the outside, but too thick and undone on the inside. They were somehow so bland as to be practically tasteless.Bottom line: fun, old style diner to visit if youre looking for a slice of Denver life with a wide variety of people. But you wont find the delicious, simple food that diners such as this used to serve.

The employees were really nice, especially as it was 6:30 a.m.However, the food wasn’t super great and the prices are a bit high. My biscuits and gravy were lukewarm.It seems like they’re pretty short on employees and I do feel for them, but I won’t be recommending this place to anyone.

This place is really good after a night out. They have great breakfast options as well as lunch. Just found out they also have Antelope and Kangaroo on special on the weekends. Im not that adventurous but if you are, here ya go.

I like the place maintain there tradition . Set is old, still work like old school. Portions are quite a size . Everything was tasting great.

I like Ol School diners, and this is it... I sat down and it was like the waitress has known me for years. Good conversation, a tight knit group was working including a mother and a daughter. The food was pretty good too, stop bye if youre ever in Denver. Oh, and theyre open early too.

Awesome breakfast menu with excellent service and the food was amazing. Definitely check it out if youre looking for a great breakfast spot. Burrito supreme with the green chili sauce is super good.

The service here is fantastic. The waitstaff never miss a beat. Coffee cups stay full. Its rare that I have to make a request, e.g. ketchup, hot sauce, etc., because it is there before I even ask. If I so want something, someone is always nearby.The food ranges from outstanding to pretty good. Its always good enough, if you know what I mean. If you like your hash browns crispy, be sure to ask. The food seems to be better when the place isnt packed.Still, its worth going just for the great service. Prices are good, so be sure to drop a hefty tip. I leave 50% or $10, whichever is more. With the prices at Breakfast King, I figure the waitstaff cant possibly get by on 20%.

Bacon was like a thin piece of paper that melts once it touches moisture. Chicken might as well be a Popeyes biscuit with how dry it was. Coffee was water with a hint of bean. Somehow made dry eggs(kinda impressive)I feel misled by the reviews. I was told that the service was good, the portions were large, and that it tasted good. Yet I paid 45 dollars for the most mediocre breakfast ice ever had. Our meal consisted of chicken and waffles, pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Not worth 45 dollars.

I Have been going to Breakfast King for 35yrs I know of the Owner and done some painting for the King of Breakfast. It is always a considerate Caring Concerned Eatery Cinnamon Roll And Coffee with water sit at the bar and watch TV. I love it.I still go there. I am close .

I grew up eating here since I was a child, 51 years later here we are . . .Pancakes are $9.99Chicken fried steak and eggs $17.99Prices are up over 400% and the service and quality of food is less than average.You use to get 4 pieces of bacon when you order a side now you get and 3 pieces and pay bout $5.00.Stay away from the mark up that has consumed breakfast king, go to MR. EGG OR MCCOYS and get a better meal for cheaper and better service.Shame on you Breakfast King!!!

We stopped here for breakfast after camping for 3 days. Our breakfast came out so quickly which was awesome since we were starving! Coffee was hot and fresh and we got service with a smile. Standard but yummy diner fare.

Always delicious food and friendly service at the Breakfast King! Customizable menu, laid-back, great for sitting around and catching up. This isn’t fast food, don’t bother if you’re in a rush. Relaxed and everything cooked fresh to order.

The best part was the friendly casher/greeter he was actually adorable, I wish Id came here sooner. The food was truly American style cafe flair and great portion sizes well worth the prices. I was so excited that they service grits as a side item or even Trout with eggs, plus other Colorado known menu staples yum. Ill be back for the dinner menu items next.

Love the 70s Vibe. It takes me back. Met with sister and Dad for brunch they already had there food but when I got there the waitress asked what I wanted to drink came right back with tea and took you order, didnt wait long for my food the burger and fries were hot and Delicious like home made. My Dad loves eating there will for sure be back.

When we first walked in, there was a ton of people flooding in and we were discouraged because we felt thered be a long wait. We were seated in less than 10 minutes at 11am on a Sunday. Dont be overwhelmed by packed parking lot and people waiting. Youll be seated quickly. 3 TVs in case you need to see Sports. Single bar seating, too.

One of my all time favorite restaurants. Me and my dad always go here when we cant decide to eat. The employees are always super nice, friendly, and doing their absolute best to treat you like a king.

They dont make them like this anymore. Classic American greasy spoon in all the best ways. Portions are big, menu is varied, and the staff will bend over backwards for you. These kinds of restaurants are disappearing all across America. I really hope this one stays here forever.

Stopped in here on the way out of town to grab some food. Definitely a greasy spoon vibe. Food was absolutely excellent and came out pretty quickly. The staff were kind and kept our coffee full. Minus one star for the passive aggressive short staff sign on the door, and the guys in the corner that called us f@gs on the way out. 😀

A hallmark and a staple. This diner is the last one true diner in Denver, with a few exceptions. None as exceptional as this place.The owner and his wife have owned this restaurant forever. The wait staff is always kind and accommodating. The food is eclectic and delicious. There is something on the menu for everyone and its 98% guaranteed to please!I like to get experimental and have had just about everything, often times getting creatively vicarious through my kids orders, but the b&g and the burrito are staples for me. (Hint: if you ask nicely, they will do half gravy, half green chili on the breakfast burrito-cant go wrong)However, lets talk about that last 2%..My family and I have eaten here through the wife and I dating, all the way up through 4 kids.But since the pandemic, the prices shot up significantly (to maintain their costs) and unfortunately, since the price change, my family and I can no longer afford to go here any longer.The prices used to be part of my ordering euphoria! I used to order two things for myself and the family always got what they wanted and everyone was happy. But sadly, this will probably be our last dining experience as our last bill went upwards of $65+; theres not even any mercy for the kids menus.Love this place. If you can endure the price change, I would highly recommend. This place is easily valued at 5 stars, but because of the prices, I have to give 4. Im sorry guys. I know you need to make a living too, but dang! It doubled!! Bittersweet.

Stopped by here for breakfast was almost fifty bucks for two people. Food was ok but not the greatest ive ever had and was not worth the price imo. King of breakfasts? Um... The toast was dry and burned. Veggie omelette didnt have in it what was pictured. Gravy on the biscuits was cold, and the whole plate was warm, not hot. Going elsewhere next time

The joint looked busy from the outside but we automatically got sat down when we came in! We got Water & coffee immediately and food shortly after, we were in and out within 30 minutes! And the food was bomb. Service was friendly and attentive. I loved it.

Pretty cozy place. They always have some pretty cool specials. Last time I tried rattle snake sausage. Probably wouldnt try it again, but it was cool that they had it!

I thought that it was pretty good. My wife said the potatoes were a bit mushy, like they were par boiled, then fried. We both over ate (totally our fault) so, we were too full I guess to really enjoy any lasting effects of the meal.

Considering the pandemic was in full effect, we were allowed outside seating with our pets. The wait staff was very attentive to us as well as our pets making sure they had bowls of water. The food was hot and fresh and they in no way stingy with the portion sizes. I ate what I could and took plenty home for dinner that night. Good prices and great food! Awesome combination in my book!!

When I walked into this place. It was everything that I would imagine the 1970s to be. From the wood panelled walls. To the bright orange seats. Its was like a portal back to a time long forgotten. Oh by the way...the food was fantastic. The waitress was fantastic as well. Ill definitely be back.

Great food and speedy response with great service as always. This is our regular stop even when our hotel in Denver has breakfast available. Proximity to distilleries and breweries is a plus, of course, but the food is worth stopping by to see a classic dinner in perfect form.

When I saw one dollar sign, I didnt think Id be spending $20/person. The coffee was too watery to be called burnt but still tasted poorly. The chicken and waffles tasted passable but the presentation was awful. The chicken looked like chicken nuggets and the waffle was pretty mangled. The hashbrowns were so unseasoned and bland. To top it off, there were those passive aggressive signs everywhere telling customers to be patient because no one wants to work. If you are charging that much for mediocre food, then you should have enough to pay your workers and retain more people.

Maybe it’s because I’m not a local, but I didn’t not like the food. Huevos rancheros with canned beans on the side. The hash brown were just chopped potatoes. Stack of two plain pancakes was $8. I was shocked. The pancakes weren’t great. Also ordered juice, and it was a small portion. Chicken and waffles consisted of 3 chicken strips with frozen waffles. Their customer service is good though... I’d would much rather go to Denny’s.
