This is the type of place I just love lounging at. Best atmosphere to just chill and have some drinks. Not to mention the food is absolutely unreal good. I recommend everything. Go multiple times. Try new tequila with your lager. Try everything on the menu.

I really wanted to love this place. I’ll start off by saying that the servers and other staff were friendly and nice. The food and drinks were not very good. Maybe I have higher expectations for Mexican food, but I was very disappointed. I was dubious when I saw a spelling error on the menu in Spanish (red flag #1). Out friendly server did not understand the Spanish pronunciations of our order, even though the menu is in Spanish (red flag #2). Our drinks were not very good, Paloma was watery and my mezcal mango drink was okay (and though not entirely anyone’s fault) had a fly in it. The tacos were not very flavorful and they up sell you chips, salsa, and guacamole by just asking you if you want to start off with it (which I know means it’s not free, but still irks me).

Small and family owned. The atmosphere was inviting and very clean. We were there for a charity event so the menu was limited to tacos only but they were delicious! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Prices were reasonable for what we ordered. We will go back at a later time when theyre offering a full menu to try other dishes.

This used to be my favorite happy hour/dinner spot but was very disappointed this time. They no longer have a happy hour menu which is fine but the food was not the quality it used to be. The steak in the taco was so fatty. My friends food wasnt great either. I am not sure if I will go back. I do want to note that the waitress was very kind and attentive.

Excellent food, amazing first drink, identical second drink did not taste identical though (in a worse way), and although the staff was pleasant, they were not good: one meal came out in 2 minutes, the other meal about 10 minutes later, meaning 2 people eating at 2 different times. Once out meal was done, out dirty dishes remained on our table about 30 minutes although staff walked by out table numerous times.4.5 stars for food, 4 stars for drinks, 2.5 stars for service.

I’ve been here twice and each time received terrible service. The first time I left a vape on the table and called back less than 5 minutes later to ask them to hold it for me, they told me they didn’t have it. I’m pretty sure the waitress or busser stole it because I know for a fact it was there. It was honestly just weird to be bold faced lied to so I accepted it. Well, I decided to go back and Jesus, bold faced lying is just what they do. I asked the waiter for lemon for my water and he said, “oh we don’t have lemon here.” With a smile on his face. He expects me to believe there’s not a single lemon in a restaurant? No, he just didn’t want to go cut one up. Then after he finally brought more water after being asked twice, the bottle was filled with paper and it took 5 minutes to get someone to come bring a new one. When the food finally came my order was totally wrong. It’s not like they were busy, it was 2 on a Wednesday. Dude kept going out back to smoke too and once he took our order we didn’t see him again. Save your time and money.

This place is amazing. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. Came here for the first time after hearing some people on the street talk about how good it was. Lorenzo took excellent care of us and we will certainly be back. Thank you!

Cool little place. We had beers and Margs, chips,salsa and guacamole.Good people watching on the front porch.

No waiting. Margaritas were superb - I recommend the one with grape fruit.We ordered the small plate of chips and guacamole. Free refill on the chips.My husband ordered tacos - one had spicy shrimp and the other had mushrooms. I ordered the salad with pulled chicken.Service was excellent.The restaurant is on Tennyson. So after a big meal, we got in a good walk.For sure, we recommend.

This was the best food I have eaten in a long time. Family recipes wonderfully executed! The chicken enchilada have the most tasty tangy sauce and the cane asada melts in your mouth!

The service was excellent. The food and drinks however, were underwhelming. The Chile Rellenos I would especially not recommend. They were soggy, bland, and tasted of old oil. I will likely never come back due to the food which is unfortunate as the wait staff were so pleasant!

Original gal that sat us was not friendly at all. She was stationed on the patio, just prior to entering the restaurant. My thought, as a greeter, or whatever her title may be, she should be more welcoming of the patrons.Thankfully however, our waitress was great; she was suggestive, and got our entire order correct! The food was good, the chicharrones were delish! Overall a little pricey; Im sure this has to do with location. Total bill for 4 was nearly $200, this did include a few drinks. Overall not bad, well be back.

The food here is great and seems very authentic. My favorite item is the mole chicken. I’ve been a couple times and service is a little slow/confusing. Also there is no air conditioning so the inside dining area can get warm and you have to deal with flies. The place could really uo their game with some small improvements but they are winning with the food and drinks. I’ll continue to go back!

Their pastor tacos are good. They should add some queso and dessert to their menu. They are a little pricey but I guess thats what you get for the neighborhood

Small place ... if you walk fast you will miss it .. only a few tables to dine in BUT the food is amazing 💯... the taste will ravage your pallet ... get on the bus to flavor town !!!... bistro atmosphere.. music.. awesome staff put me down on some great flavor .. friendly.. made me feel at home .. price won’t break the bank .. if you don’t stop in your definitely missing out. When in Denver this is the place I’m coming back to every time 💯💯👍

We were asked where we wanted to sit, I suggested outside so then we ordered salsa and guacamole. We didnt end up getting to try the guac cause it was not even prepared, then as we were sitting outside eating our food these flies came and started to attack us...lol.. other then that enchiladas were tasty and I really liked the beans..

Chips and Salsa were decent but confused about the food category as being Mexican. To me, its more New Age. We had the ceviche and tacos and the food just wasnt that good. The food didnt have good flavor. If you are looking for traditional Mexican food fare, this is not it. If youre into experimental or New Age dishes, this is the place for you.

Where to begin. I started eating here last summer 2020. It was absolutely amazing! Went at least 4 times in 2 months. Everything was so flavorful and perfectly executed. Then the winter restrictions of Covid hit. I decided to get take out one winter night to show my support. It was during the time where indoor dining was not allowed. I walked in to grab my order and noticed that the windows were covered with black paper or fabric and people were dining inside. A bit off putting but I grabbed my food and left. Once home to eat my dinner-realized it was not edible. The food had water or something separating from the sauce, tasted freezer burnt. The rice wasn’t cooked all the way. I threw the food away and just thought it was a bad night. I have personally taken a break from eating here since then. I finally decided now that things have been opened up for a bit I’d give it another try. I went in and ordered the enchiladas and the chili rellenos. The enchilada sauce was nice but inside the tortilla it was just dry shredded chicken. Rice was fully cooked this time. Chili rellenos on the other hand were not good. They tasted like they were deep fried in oil that has fried too much food and needed to be changed. The sauce they were in was was flavorless and lacked salt. Chips and salsa were okay, the salsa came out slightly frozen. Not sure if they make batches and freeze and thaw as needed or just a very cold fridge caused slushy salsa. Service was nice and drinks were good. If you plan to eat here-I’d just recommend the drinks and hope for luck on a salsa that isn’t frozen! I really hope they bring more of their old menu back from last summer. Some of our favorites were the tortilla soup and tacos dorados. I hope they improve, I really do!

Delicious chile rellenos, and the Pistola margarita was great too.

We were excited to eat here finally and it was super disappointing. Chile rellenos were soggy and flavorless, carne asado tacos were dry, enchiladas were just ok. Way too expensive for the quality. The only thing that was good was the limeade (house margarita was garbage.)

A little pricey. Very few vegetarian options. The food I got was good, but Im never really a fan of places that replace meat in a dish with giant chunks of cauliflower.

Where do I begin..Well we ordered chips n salsa.and guacamole Salsa was bland but spicy gauc never showed up.We sat outside which we thought would be nice but was attacked by flies due to the drainage canal this porch sits by so really unable to enjoy the chiken enchiladas! Sorry Chingon you did not make my A list.

Ive been here many times. However yesterday was not a good experience. The service was so bad. We ordered the rib eye and the potatoes were cold. I let the manager know. He literally had me scrape them off the board into a bel. He took them and wanted in microwave and sent back to us. Really bummed

Great food and nice atmosphere.

Went for the the first time last night and was very disappointed. First there was an hour wait, so we put our names in and came back an hour later to find an almost empty restaurant. So already a let down - dont take my number down if youre not going to call or text when there is a table open. Then we waited at the front door while the bar staff finished their drinks before greeting us - if youre going to drink on the job, serve your customers before yourself. We then ordered two margaritas which took 15 minutes to get to us despite there only being few people in the entire restaurant. Again, this was due to the staff partying and not taking care of their customers. The night went on and we received much of the same dog sht service. The food was good and the staff was nice, just very, very, very bad at their jobs. Would not recommend, sorry.

Unfortunately, I wont be back. My bartender wasnt very attentive, and was more focused on the male guests. She seemed irritated I was even coming in. I stood at the door for 10 minutes before she even greeted me. I almost walked out but wanted to give it a shot. Getting my bill took forever, I felt trapped. The food was fantastic, just that one experience with this bartender put a bad taste in my mouth.

Food and atmosphere was phenomenal. Most definitely will be back. Owner and staff was amazing made sure our table was taken care of. Loved their drink menu. Couldnt taste or smell the liquor but that thing creeped up on me. Best drinks hands down.

Heard nothing but great stuff about this place, we only ate appetizers and tequila but it was pretty good. Staff seemed to be in training, well have to come back to have the full experience hopefully with a more knowledgeable bartender.

Holy mexico this food is next level. The flora de mayo is a cocktail with amaretto foam 🤩 get it, let your life be changed. We ate everything before we took any photos. I feel transported when I step into this adorable little house. The community that the staff has adds to the cozy feeling. The full and happy hour menus are both amazing. And the drinks are made just right. Try the crab bisque.

After having a not so great experience at another restaurant El Chingon reassured us that customer service at restaurants is not dead. When we arrived a gentleman met us with urgency at the Host stand and immediately sat us and conveyed to the server to bring us water. The server also brought a drink menu. My girlfriend ordered the chili rellenos and I got the enchiladas Verdes as well as the chips and guacamole for an appetizer. The guac was pretty tasty, the enchiladas were plated well, a nice hint of lime taste, overall decent. The chili rellenos on the other hand were not that great. My girlfriend said they were decent. I didnt think they were even that good. Overall it was a nice experience, we just know next time to not order the chili rellenos.

I LOVE this place. Great little bar and outdoor seating. Their food is excellent! Best shrimp tacos I’ve ever had and their Chile rellenos are to die for. They have a huge tequila and mezcal selection and their margaritas are very fresh. I have visited a few times since COVID and they are following all the guidelines. Eat local! Check them out!

Homegrown quality foods are served here. Great service and staff goes a long way too. We had custome craft cocktails of the day and family style chicken platter. These folks dont mess around at all. Thank you for a delightful meal and conversation!

One of the better Mexican food restaurants Ive visited since leaving Texas and the love management puts into their engagement of their patrons was really special to watch. The front and center message: when you are here you are home and thats a rare and beautiful message to receive from a restaurant.

Lorenzo Nuñez, Ramón and Carolyn Nuñez are the greatest, they are my family.We just held my brother and sister-in-laws wedding there, and it was great!They have the greatest people, and deeeeelicious menu.The atmosphere is just beyond wonderful, if you are ever in the area of The United States 🤣 make it a point to stop in, you will love it👍🏾

The Good: love the atmosphere and location. Staff very nice and friendly. The tacos were delicious.The Bad: Staff was overwhelmed and had to be asked several times for one thing or another. I ordered the Chile Rellenos and they were awful. I had two bites and could not eat anymore. I probably wouldn’t even post a review except when I told the waitress she seemed to not have the time or energy to care. Definitely would not recommend and will not be going back.:(

This place is our home-base for consistent, authentic and spectacular high-brow Mexican fare. Also a top shelf happy hour marg. If you appreciate your Mexican, this is your go-to. Favorites include the carnitas, camarones chignons, and enchiladas.

We got the tortas and they were delicious. We had called about doing delivery to a brewery (DeSteeg Brewery). They said they weren’t delivering today so we went to the restaraunt to grab a table. It was very busy and so the wonderful guy who was serving us offered to walk our food back over to the brewery when it was ready. Above and beyond service. Would highly recommend for the amazing food and service.

Great Authentic Mexican food!

Mixologist mike/mark was so friendly! He made me a variety of amazing drinks. His palomas are perfectly made. These are hard to get just right. He was funny/ but most importantly attentive, and caring.Also; the shrimp tacos were fantastic.Will def be back!

I called 20 minutes before the opened and asked if i need an early reservation. The lady said. Then when we showed up at 4:15 they acted like it was going to be hard to seat us without a reservation.Finally they gave us a table. And said wed have to leave before 6?? Well okay.We ordered an appetizer and waited about 15 minutes. Which, if its made to order, thats how it works. No prob. But after that looong wait, no one wanted to take our dinner order, though we were running out of time.This was the second denver mexaicsn restaurant of the day where i was unable to get served a dinner.

The flautas here are killer! They actually do have a northern Mexican take and its a great place for lunch when youre walking around Tennyson. Its not on the menu, but ask them for their homemade limonada. Took me back to Cabo!

Went there tonight and it was fantastic! I had the Tacos Dorados! Unreal! So good with a spicy salsa that was wonderful. But my favorite part was the cans of Diet Pepsi that I ordered. They were so cold there was just a hint of slush in them. They nailed it! Oh and I was very aware of the social distancing they practiced and commend them. Ill be back!!!

Our most recent visit was this past Saturday, and it was as great as ever. The quality of the food is fantastic, the service is great, and the location is easy to find. Excellent drinks and desserts are available too! Highly recommended!!

The best thing about El Chingon is how wonderful the owners are, the father son relationship really hits home and makes you feel warm and invited (more like family while you’re dining there) we continue to dine here because of the owners hospitality Amazing, drinks and food! Lorenzo is a the host with the most!

Was sort of a let down .

Went for Father’s Day at 1210pm. Opens at 12pm. Weren’t ready to open on food end wouldn’t even serve drinks. Said come back in half hour. 👎. Terrible experience

Fun Mexican food with a twist

Great food, atmosphere, and a friendly accommodating staff. Great place to take friends and family in town who want to get the Denver experience.

Ventured out after staying home for months and we were seated literally one foot from another table. Is that worth the risk? We didnt feel comfortable, couldnt hear each others conversation, and wondered how safe we were if someone had COVID. It was a greedy decision to use that table so close to another.

Trying to give my most honest of reviews here. I am not a Covid crazy person. Understand that when I leave this review. When we arrived the restaurant was empty. We took a seat at the bar and ordered our food. Within 20 minutes the restaurant was PACKED. The owner came in and was behind the bar feeding his friends tons of drinks and absolutely NO ONE was following protocol of the 25% capacity, the 6 feet apart, or wearing masks. The curtains were put down so no one could see in. Mark the bartender did a pretty good job but we couldn’t tell if he was stressed out by the owner who continued to go behind the bar and grab whatever he wanted, if he was stressed out about Covid, or if he was annoyed that we were there due to the fact that he knew this parade of people was there not following a single rule. My girlfriend has gone there before and said that she has witnessed this on multiple occasions. Again, I am not a person who is a finger pointer about Covid so understand that when I say this was bad IT WAS BAD. A complete lack of care for any rules or safety.I give the restaurant a 2 star because Mark did a decent job even though he was needed to serve the owners friends their free drinks prior to serving us. Also the food was quite good.I always think it is pretty trashy when an owner brings a group of 40 people in and tries to act like a big man. BUT during Covid? Come on dude....you are risking your business and just putting people at risk.I’m not a whistle blower. However, if any police had driven by and the curtains were open? This place would have been shutdown immediately

Remarkable!Everything here is so elevated, well executed, and personable. It is always a phenomenal experience here. While Ive only visited a few times for their happy hour, it delivers extraordinarily. You must try their chicken flautas, its a must every time! The atmosphere is intimate and beautiful inside of a home.I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I cannot wait to go again!
