This is such a nice store with top-quality brands and lots of sales. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the products they carry. They were really patient and offered me honest and practical opinions with each option they showed me. After the first visit I wanted to sleep on my decision. I love REI, but I know the importance of supporting small business when I can. That’s why I was stoked when I found out that Vital was opening a location so close to me in Denver. I’ve shopped at the Golden location before, and customer care at the new spot was at the same high level that I have come to expect from this company. Alec and the rest of the team were very welcoming, and helped hook me up with what I needed for my backpacking trip in July. I will definitely be coming back!

I recently flew into Denver for a camping trip I have had planned for some time now. When I arrived in Denver I was told that my luggage had been lost. I had absolutely nothing and was unsure what to do. I was in need of literally everything so decided to go downtown and stumbled into this place and wow, from the minute I walked in I was immediately greeted by the staff who were very patient and willing to help me with everything I needed. They were very knowledgeable and definitely got me prepared for my trip! With the help from vitals staff they made sure I was getting the best equipment and even gave me a few places to check out during my time in Colorado. Thank you for saving my vacation! I will definitely be back when I am back in town.

I am giving two stars simply because they said hello and did attempt to help me. Unfortunately the sales associate had no idea what he was talking about! I recently stopped in this shop as my husband was looking for a new backpack for longer expeditions. He is currently using an Osprey and the hip belt has been rubbing his skin raw, leaving him with blisters and sores. It’s worth noting he is an avid cyclist so he is lean, as cyclists tend to be. We both worked selling gear for many years including backpacks. We thought a Gregory might offer more support and cushion as they tend to have more supportive hip belts. I asked the guy if they sold Gregory packs, explained my situation a little and... well they should consider some more training. He took me to the packs and grabbed the first Gregory he saw, and said that it would be perfect. It was the Jade. This is not only a women’s pack, but their most heavily designed for females pack. The shoulder straps are designed to go around the curves of a woman’s chest and the hip belt moves with the curve of women’s hips. It’s a fabulous bag! However it is not at all the bag I was looking for. I asked him for more options and he continued to blindly grab packs. He then looked at me and said, “maybe he should just eat more and it will stop rubbing.” Ummmmm what? Nothing about the conversation was helpful except that I now know to never go there again, and wish it was still the sketchy liquor store with weirdly good wine options. I really wanted to love and support this local business! However it is clear that the staff are very poorly trained and when it comes to gear, that’s a deal breaker. You unknowingly tried to sell a woman’s pack to a man and then said he should just eat more. SUPER DISAPPOINTED!

REI is a great store but it can be super overwhelming going in there and can be a hassle to get an employee to help you in a reasonable amount of time. Head to Vital! The staff is super knowledgable about their gear and friendly. Vital always has the newest and best gear, and their customer service is amazing. If you have any issues with gear youve purchased there or somewhere else, theyll absolutely help you out. Alec and the whole team own and use the gear they sell, so you know youll get honest gear opinions. Shopping there is also great because youre helping to support a local business!

Walked out of chiropractor’s appointment and was told I needed to replace my messenger bag because it was messing up my back. Came into Vital Outdoors just to see if they had backpacks, and found an insanely cute one that will be easy on my back. Plus it was 25% off! Great customer service, will come back again.

Great, helpful staff. I came in looking for a new daypack, and one of the clerks spent 10 minutes walking me through options. They seemed to have a wider selection of daypacks in stock than the REI over in Downtown and I was able to walk out with just what I wanted. They have a pretty good selection of clothing as well.

Vital Outdoors is truly a local gem. I went in thinking Ill try some Chacos on and buy later online as brick & mortar stores typically, in my experience, charge the full price, if not more, for an item. This was not the case at all at Vital.Right off the bat, I was greeted by Alec. Super nice guy and knowledgeable. He explained to me all the different types of Chacos and was super helpful with instructing me how to put Chacos on (never have had some). On top of that, there was a 30% off all Chacos! That was better than most of the stuff I found online.I decided to buy the sandals then and there. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends. Such a chill and local vibe!
