Biggest selection of quality used outdoor gear (everything from ice axes, to sleeping bags, to apparel, and beyond) Ive been around to date (makes REI garage sale section look tiny). Staff were super friendly and non-intrusive (sometimes a worry with retail stores) and told me to take my time even though I was browsing right up until closing. Scored 4 leggings/capri bottoms for yoga/climbing/hiking and a hiking shirt for less than $100 after tax. They also have a loyalty program and in-house gear repair workers. The store has new products as well and is decorated with lots of cool maps and posters.

I took my 2004 ArcTeryx jacket for a repair recently. The seam sealing around the waist hem came completely undone. I appreciated Josiahs recommendation and the repair quote was appropriate. His craftsmanship brought the jacket new life. Feral is where Ill go should I need gear repair services in the future.

Bought a few things.Looked at used snow shoes.Loved the mission and feel of the place. Shared some love with a couple of labradoodles who frequent the store! Nice people. Great concept.

Helpful and friendly staff. Got a decent quality sleeping bag for cheap cheap cheap. A small but excellent assortment of used clothes and lites of use backpacks. I would totally recommend this place to anyone in the area who loves outdoor adventuring. The only thing they didnt have any of is whitewater/paddling gear so just know that when you visit.

Always super friendly staff and good variety of outdoor gear. The used section is in great condition and is frequently changing, love this part of the store! Also they are dog friendly which is always a bonus. Definitely my first stop in outdoor gear!

It’s often difficult to find quality outdoor items at a normal thrift store and can be a gamble buying online with only pictures to go off of, so love that this store provides a curated selection of quality outdoor gear and clothing. Prices pretty reasonable and friendly service. Would definitely recommend checking it out.

Stopped by today after a disappointing visit to Sierra Trading Post. Sierra has reduced their outdoor gear selection to about 3 aisles and filled the entire back with home goods. I asked one of their team members where I could find some gear and he recommended Feral and Im glad he did. Great selection of used gear and clothing and really great prices. Pretty solid selection for a small local shop. They had a few gaps, but easily 5x the amount of actual outdoor gear than Sierra had, which was kinda surprising. And to top things off they actually had camping propane. Couldnt find it anywhere else for some reason. Cool shop. Happy to support them going forward.

1st time in the shop and the lovely lady in the backpack section helped size me for a multi-day pack. I’m new to backpacking and have never been sized before, so it was so helpful to have her around! I ended up purchasing a “used” pack that still had the new tags on, so I got a great deal! Everyone in the shop was super friendly. I’ll definitely be back when I need to shop for more gear.

I am so glad I found Feral. This shop has all kinds of new outdoor gear and, this is the part that is really crucial, they have a lot of gently used outdoor clothes and gear. They have the same brands as REI and other outdoor retailers, but for much cheaper — if you don’t mind second-hand. I bought some shirts for work and doing stuff around the house, and I will definitely be back soon for more. So if you are like me, and you need some good outdoor stuff for less than the $100’s of dollars at a pop, I would definitely recommend them!

I was blown away by the selection. My husband and I came in to get some last minute items before our Alaska trip. You’re honestly not going to find better deals on used outdoor clothing! My husband got a pair of Chacos with a pizza print for 25 bucks. Can’t wait to make another visit. Shopping here is a great way to support local businesses!

They have a good range of items for hiking and rock climbing. They have a nice used clothing section. Items are like new condition and great buys. Staff are friendly and helpful. They advertise a repair service, but it is not currently staffed. We will make this a regular stop when we are in the Berkeley neighborhood.

Great products, decent selection. I asked about any sales and an employee offered a boiler plate response of we sell used product at a good value, or good price. She kind of trailed off at the end, so Im not sure what she actually finished her statement with. She didnt look up from the counter. I have no doubt she was tired from a long (holiday?)day working retail. Ill go back to look/shop again. I hope she is having a better day.

No lie, best outdoor store Ive ever been in. Staff is always super friendly but a more realistic friendly. Theyll drop everything to help you out but they arent constantly in your hair trying to MAKE you buy stuff. I just mover to Colorado from a not-so-outdoorsy state and this place was a godsend! I got stocked up on plenty of good outdoor/athletic clothing and shoes for yardsale prices. They even have a bin of free stuff! For how small the place is they have a shockingly great selection of outdoor, camping and hiking necessities and other toys for nature lovers. Basically at this point if I can buy it here, I will!

I love this place! The offer reasonable prices when you bring gear in to sell and have a good selection of used stuff to buy because of it. Found a whole MTB kit that still had the tags on it for like 50% off of retail! I swing by every couple of weeks just to see whats new.

I love shopping here! Friendly staff with good expertise, and very good deals on used outdoor gear. I’ve had luck finding used guide books, a nice harness for my dog to grow in to, and traction devices for a quarter of the price of new. For all of my backpacking trips I have been able to find the map I needed in store and start my planning immediately. It’s a great place to stop in and get motivated to get outdoors

Very knowledgable staff! I was shopping for a good quality hiking daypack as my last pack (a $40 Amazon pack) ripped. I went to REI and was fitted for a daypack, but the fit really wasnt that good. I went on a hike a few days later and got a sizable blister on my left hip. I returned the REI pack and searched on reddit for good outdoor gear stores and saw this place was recommended a lot for its knowledgable staff. Feral did not disappoint! The Feral guy I had seemed to be much more knowledgable than the women I had at REI and was able to help me get a better fitting daypack. The store is a lot smaller than REI and doesnt have biking / boating stuff, but for camping and hiking you cant beat the knowledgable staff here.

First time coming in today, this place is great! Think of it as a thrift store for all your outdoor gear! Come here BEFORE going to REI to save a lot of money. The staff are HONEST and will tell you if items you are interested in are a good purchase or not based on their condition, price, the brand etc. They are more concerned about helping you spend your money on the RIGHT things than telling you every item is great and having you waste your money, which is rare. Really appreciate their honesty here.

Feral is a much needed option for the Denver and I70 area. With so many folks enjoying different outdoor activities, having a place to sell and buy used gear for different activities and objectives is amazing. I find occasionally that I need something for only one or two trips and can find a suitable, affordable used piece here. After moving to Colorado, I found that I did not need all if the gear that I had previously used regularly in California and Nevada. They were able to buy it from me for others to use and upcycle products that generally do not have a large market on eBay or craigslist.If you are looking to get started in a new activity or sport, I would come here first to consider buying gear. You can get good starter equipment and advice from employees who actually use the stuff! Once you have learned the ropes and have a good sense of what will work beat for you, sell the gear back!

We stop here regularly when were in the Denver area. A great selection of gear both new and used. I tend to buy a lot of clothing here because it is very affordable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My wife and daughter also enjoy shopping here for clothing.

I dont think I have ever experienced such a fast response from an online order. I ordered a JetBoil Sumo stove on Tuesday from their website with shipping via USPS and the stove arrived on Wednesday (the next day.) In addition, it looked like it had been shipped by hand with a hand-written thank you inside the box. In addition, the price was exactly what other online retailers are charging, so I didnt feel like I was getting ripped off for shopping local. This company must be doing something right to have employees who are so conscientious.

Stopped by the smaller Idaho Springs location the other day and was told that they had a Denver location so I had to check it out. LOVE the used gear section. Saw that they do gear repair, and chatted a guy up about an issue with my tent. He took the time to talk me through the process of addressing it myself. Turns out its an easy fix. He could have just taken my money, but didnt. My local shop back home went out of business recently, and Im excited to support these guys now that Im in Denver.

They are pet friendly! Let you take your dog into the store. Found better sleeping mats there then at REI. Awesome place.

Pretty Feral customer service.We had a small but doable window of time to get an MSR camp stove piggy backed to us on a shipment from Florida to Bogota Colombia. We needed to get this item shipped and guaranteed to arrive 7 days after ordering it.So on Friday February 5th 2021 we called Feral directly and spoke to Rachael who told us that she would personally make sure it got to us on time and would be sent that day. So we went with Feral & ordered that day including expedited delivery, payment cleared same day and we received confirmation via email.On Wednesday 10th we had not received the item and we checked in online to find out the the item had not been sent. We called back and spoke again to Rachael who, upon realizing that we were the people she had spoken to the previous Friday and had promised to get our item sent, promptly handed us over to Jimmy.Jimmy explained to us that the item had not been sent as it had been flagged by their card provider as we were using a UK card and shipping from one US address to another. Again the payment had cleared Feb 5th but Feral did nothing to communicate this delay on their end to us. Further more even though we had payed for this item they were now out of stock. I explained that we had a parcel leaving Florida for Colombia and that we needed this to be in this shipment. Jimmy did not make any effort outside of a refund other than offering that MSR might be able to ship to us in Colombia. Eventually we rectified the situation with another shop by paying for over night delivery at a $35 cost on a $99 item. I contacted Jimmy and offered that it would be good customer service to refund us for the item and cover our extra costs due to over-nighting the item from the new store. Jimmy replied that upon receipt of my email that the original total had now been refunded and that they would not refund our inherited delivery charges due to their mistake.In short this shop seems to have great in person customer reviews. But after my experience I would say do not order online. Mistakes happen I get that. But theres was a chance here to rectify this with the kind of customer service America is famous for. Good customer service is admitting a mistake first time around and rectifying it.Feral opted not too.

I have not nerded out about gear this way since I was a teenager. This place rules. I got properly outfitted with hiking clothes, a day pack, hydration system, and a few other essentials all for under $300. Ian at the counter told me that given the quantity of gear that comes through the place, it’s essentially a new store every few days. I will most certainly be back.

I went to FERAL to pick-up a bear canister online order, and was in and out in less than 2 mins. The fellow that helped me was also super eager to take a few donations off my hands after I mentioned them needing a new home. He was just a real kind dude and I appreciated how customer oriented the entire experience felt! AND were supporting a local small business!

Great selection of standard gear with pre owned selections for many items. Prices better than REI on several things I needed. Supporting local businesses supports your neighbors - several new employees were being trained while I was there. I will be looking here for everything outdoors before shopping big box or online stores.

Its a great store to get used or slightly used gear. Just dont recommend selling to them as they extremely under cut you. But if you need cash asap they are good for it.

Super friendly staff. Popped in here to grab a bear canister before heading into the woods and staff was super polite and totally open with us testing the product out right there in the store. Didnt feel pressured to buy anything and said to bring it back if it didnt work out. Needless to say, it worked out and Ill def be back.

They have really nice new gear but the back half is all used items and I love that they are doing their part for our environment by focusing on re-selling as well as profiting off brand new stuff. Nice used gear at even nicer prices. To be honest, the prices are low enough I initially thought there was a catch - some sort of membership that needed to be paid for or hidden fees. I just chanced on it while I was shopping. I knew I needed some new gear to replace my raggedy stuff, but I wasnt sure what I needed at the time. Now Im planning a trip back to Denver, primarily to come here.
