I am very happy with the work they did on my van. The quality of work was outstanding and they were in touch with me regularly to go over any issues or options with the installation. It was so nice to work with someone that doesnt over promise and under deliver. Madddie and Tillman were great to work with. I highly recommend Vanlife Customs!
I was starting a new van conversion and didnt feel comfortable adding in two Maxx Air fans and an Espar heater on my Ford Transit myself. I was so thankful to find Vanlife Customs who was able to squeeze me into their schedule in under two weeks. They had the project completed in one business day and when I picked it up they took the time to show me exactly how they had done the installs, how to work the equipment & how to care for it over time. I really appreciate the quick turn around and amazing customer service!
Update: Someone reached out and offered to do whatever was necessary to make it right. I just asked for some touch-up paint which they ordered and sent to my home. Overall window installation is sound and I’m happy with efforts made to correct the initial problems. I’m sure as a small but seemingly growing business there’s bound to be some oversight along the way. Thankful that’s there’s a shop out there willing to do one-off installs. A lot of places only do full builds.Didn’t think this would be a subpar experience based on other reviews but sadly the quality and attention to detail was lacking when it came to installing a CRL window in the sliding door of my van. When first picking up the van, Wendy walked out with me and showed me the work. I noticed there was some black adhesive around the perimeter of the window that had gotten on the paint. When I went over it with my fingernail, some of it chipped off, but when I asked Wendy what it would be she wasn’t sure but said she could get one of the guys. I figured no big deal I’ll just clean it up with some isopropyl alcohol and a rag. After getting home I also noticed a couple areas on the inside where the paint of the van got chipped/nicked around the frame of the window. I assume this was from when the hole was being cut but if you slip up and chip the paint wouldn’t you at least throw some more paint over it so no bare metal is showing?? Also the metal trim piece on the inside, that secures the window with several screws, I thought was supposed to just be hand tightened but some are so tight the metal is bent and black paint is chipping.
Before making any serious moves to get into van life I looked at every company I could find from across the country and Vanlife Customs (VLC) was the only one that fit my sense of taste and aesthetics and more importantly, the quality I was looking for. For full disclosure, I have a completely custom 170 Sprinter 4x4 from VLC, and I live in it full time. I am not a casual, weekend van lifer, so my needs were more extreme and demanding. When I reached out to VLC I didnt even have a van, just ideas. I put down the initial deposit with VLC prior to purchasing a van, which is a bit unusual - usually people have their van, which may not have the ideal factory configuration, and come to VLC for the build, whereas I had the advantage of purchasing a van with the exact factory options I wanted and would be useful for the build process and lifestyle. Dave Walsh, the founder and owner of VLC, helped me go through the options and select the right ones, which gave us a better starting point.I put in the purchase with the dealer, and while waiting for the van to be delivered we went through the design process for what VLC would eventually build. I had specific design requirements as far as materials quality and sourcing, the look and feel of the van, the layout, and more. In such a small space theres no such thing as a small decision. I was a very demanding client as far as the design went and VLC was able to accommodate darn near everything I wanted. When they couldn’t, they offered alternatives, and offered suggestions for things I hadnt even thought about. They did most of the research and always presented me with several options. When it came time to select the materials, they let me come in and look at the colors and feel the textures of samples, and presented alternatives. Same for CAD mockups, which we went through multiple iterations of until they were up to my standards. When we had settled on a final design, we waited until the van was delivered, then they fit me into their busy schedule a couple of months later. Though the shop was closed temporarily during the COVID shutdown they provided photos and opportunities to visit and see the in-progress build myself, which was awesome. The design did change slightly during the actual build and they kept me abreast of all changes as they occurred. When the build was complete, I was given the opportunity to take the van on test runs of a few days and come back with anything that didnt work, I didnt like, etc., and they would make it right. All told the build took several months (not including the COVID shutdown), and for good reason - the amount of work that needs to be done to build a full van, both interior and exterior, is significant, and the time invested in build quality was apparent upon completion.Ive now been living in the van full time for about six months. Any questions or issues Ive had, and there have been several, have been dealt with promptly either by email, phone, or when I was able to return to Denver if it wasnt something I could fix on my own. They replaced warped cabinet doors, water hosing, drawer sliders, parts of the heating system, adjusted clamps, nuts, and bolts, and more, without question or payment. To show how far their service goes, when I had a problem with the heater, Dave invited me to his home in the mountains, we crawled around under the van in muddy snow together to diagnose the problem, and when it couldnt be fixed at his home, he personally fixed it a couple of days later at the Denver shop and showed me how to perform preventative maintenance. Their customer service goes above and beyond, and its been a pleasure working with them. The love and dedication that Dave and his crew put into their work is really difficult to find these days. They very clearly love what they do and love making peoples dreams come true, and it shows from start to finish. If youre looking for a company to make YOUR van life dream come true, look no further than Vanlife Customs. Theyre the real deal.
The team did an incredible job installing my max air and spar furnace. turn around time was quick and seamless. if you are looking for an uplifter for your van, look no further, call them NOW! thanks Vanlife Customs. ill be calling soon for some other projects.
VanLife Customs installed a WeBoost cell signal booster in my already complete van/RV conversion. They were AWESOME! The front office staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The technician took time to explain what he had done. They found a way to install it without much disruption to the interior of my van. AND…it works! I highly recommend VanLife Conversions!
Everyone at VanLife Customs was super nice and professional. I was working on my own build but wanted help with installing a swivel seat. They fit me in to their busy schedule and did great work. They were the only company I could find who does full custom builds but will also help out on small projects. I appreciate them greatly!
I am truly grateful for the services I received at vanlife customs. Their professionalism and customer service are outstanding and I would recommend them highly to anyone needing vanlife outfitting, consultations, and installations. Reasonable rates and friendly folks are the icing on the cake!
Excellent service and staff. Cant say enough. 👍👍
The team at Vanlife Customs is outstanding, from the initial consultation through the design and ultimately the final buildout. They clearly take tremendous pride in their work and look to make sure each van they buildout meets their customers specific needs. We feel very fortunate to have had them do our Sprinter buildout and could not be happier with the work. Thanks again guys!
Great place. Great people. Very busy but tried to be accommodating. Quality work. Left vehicle clean and in good shape. Wendy is very responsive. Everyone is friendly. Hesitate to write the review as I dont want them to be even busier, but they deserve it. Highly recommended.
When we were looking to get our new Mercedes 4x4 Sprinter built out, we looked at a lot of custom van builders, and ultimately decided to go with Vanlife Customs. Now that we are 4 months into living in our van (@jomovan) full time and have put it through 8000 miles of highway, dirt road, and mixed-terrain driving... I wanted to write a review.Customer Service: From our first call with Katie, to the check-in emails the team sends us as we explore in the finished van, Vanlife Customs treats us like family. They dont treat their customers like just another van, and we feel like they really care about our satisfaction in the van.Design/Build Process: One of the reasons we went with Vanlife Customs, is because they actually make custom vans. When we talked to other un-named shops, it felt like they were producing cookie cutter vans with no room for selecting different materials, layouts, style, or colors. VLC was up for the challenge of producing the van of our dreams... and while they also have suggested layouts/materials/components, they are still down to roll up their sleeves and build something truly custom. From a pull-up bar to drawer systems to ceiling style, VLC did it all. The process was seamless and they are very thorough. Make sure you go into the design meeting having a vision of what youre looking for (color, style, layout, components, etc.) to make the most of the process!Cost: Vanlife Customs is producing high-quality work, and that obviously comes at a price compared to DIY... but we felt like Vanlife Customs pricing was extremely fair. They are extremely transparent with the cost structure, labor cost, material cost, etc. You pay for materials + labor cost. Ultimately, they came in under the price that many other leading van builder companies quoted... and VLC produced a van at a WAY higher quality.Test of time: Weve been in the van for 4 months and the build is holding up well! If something small has broken or came loose, Dave+team has express shipped us the parts and helped us get everything straightened out extremely fast. With a 4x4, we do drive our home/van off-road and the interior build has held up extremely well. VLC also offers a warranty to fix things free-of-charge that are caused by normal circumstances. This shows they stand behind their products.THANK YOU VANLIFE CUSTOMS! Highly recommend using them to build out the van of your dreams!
Lets start by saying that there are a lot of van conversion shops around, and some can get you in today. We passed 3 of them on our 8 hr drive to this one. We passed them without even slowing down because we knew that Vanlife Customs would do the job right the first time, they would do it on time, and they would be up front about the costs. They have the experience and reviews.I asked them to add an Espar heater to my already self-built Promaster.Wendy was a dream to communicate with. She answered every one of my questions thoroughly, thoughtfully, and was never condescending in her response. She was also very precise in her questions to me, which allowed for a seamless installation. We were at camp, hiking, before sunset.Their shop is clean and so well organised I bet Marie Kondo would learn a thing or two. I never saw a single person not have something to do, but the vibe always felt light and fun. Things had to get done, but there was the right amount of time to do them. That level of time management makes a great difference. While I was there I asked if they could install a swivel on the driver side, and they did! Efficiently and flawlessly. Its great! They explained how to use the new heater, send us videos, and handed us hard copies. Weve had no problems setting it up or using it.We plan to come back to have a few other things added, and we cant wait.PS. This crew likes donuts! Bring donuts!
Vanlife customs gave me the best service. I would highly recommend them. They will take care of you.
Vanlife Customs built my Sprinter into a full-on go bag on wheels and Im absolutely thrilled with the service and how theyve taken care of me and my most valuable asset. Thanks Vanlife Customs!
I approached Vanlife Customs to build out my 2X4 Sprinter a few years ago. They did a partial build including windows, fans, base flooring, flooring, insulation, walls, ceiling, welded bed (East to West), pre-wiring and espar heat installation. They did an excellent job, met with me multiple times to discuss my specific needs, the actual layout and any issues that came up. They did an excellent job on the partial build, but what I want to emphasize is Daves consistency over the years.I have reached out to Dave multiple times to ask questions about the espar heater, to replace switches and with help to build my own kitchen area. He responded immediately, spoke directly with me on the phone and provided helpful and practical solutions. Dave is honest, which has been invaluable to updating/fixing things as I use my van. Most companies wouldnt have responded, but Dave always responds. Dave is committed to providing high quality builds, but also to being helpful, honest and not opportunistic. Thank you for making my dreams become a reality Vanlife Customs! Ill always refer you to anyone that asks!
I have an Airstream Interstate 19 4WD camper. I wanted to add a spare tire rack, cargo rack, box and bike rack from Owl Van Engineering. The items are mounted to the door hinges. VanLife Custom was listed as an Owl installer. I contacted them, got a bid and had them do the installation. Scheduling was difficult because of uncertain delivery time from Owl due to Covid. Once I had the items I got a fast appointment with VanLife. The main install took a day. The work quality was excellent and the price was reasonable. I had a chance to look over their shop and talk to some of their staff about other possible van modifications such as adding lithium batteries. Their staff is really knowledgeable and they are really into what they do. If you are looking for a custom van or for modifications I highly recommend them.
Super awesome people. Helped me get a heater installed on a short schedule and in one day since I was coming in from out of town. Would highly recommend for anything!
These guys are the best! I have found Dave and his team to be incredibly knowledgeable and responsive. They clearly are well versed in all aspects of van modification, and Daves advice is always well thought out and reasoned. Also seems to be a very honest and transparent team. I highly recommend Vanlife Customs!
Dave the owner of van life customs went out of his way to help me with my DIY solar setup on my bus. Took the time to give me some recommendations on things that I could upgrade to help with the issues Ive been having with my solar system. Also explained how to hook up my car battery to my solar batteries to be able to charge while Im going down the road.
Vanlife Customs is a *fantastic* and quality resource, not just for conversions, but for support. Converting or living in a van inherently poses challenges. My vans heater broke multiple times (on the part of general bugs with new batches of technology) before this winters snowstorms, and I was put in touch with VLC for help. Dave and his team stepped up, no questions asked. They invested the time to meet with me, working around snowstorms and inconvenient time-constraints, with immediate, easy-going and genuine care. They went above and beyond, considering I didnt even invest into a converted van with them - they just helped. Moving forward, I trust this team with last-minute questions, emergencies, and general doubts. Theyll tell you how it is, and you should trust that theyre right. Plus, theyre just rad dudes. Ill do my best to pay it back, but for now, this in-eloquent review will have to do... Im so thankful for the time they spent debugging my stubborn van for nothing other than a thank-you. Im even happier that I can feel my fingers while I type this now. Again - rad dudes. Rad company.
These guys stand behind their excellent work and are extremely responsive. They not only do great work, but educate and enable.10/10 would recommend.
I honestly cant say enough great things about Vanlife Customs. We feel so lucky to have found them as there are so few shops that would install only a heater. Dave and his crew are awesome and their top notch business practice is much appreciated!
They were extremely helpful. I was in Colorado for the summer, and it was great to have a company that was able to do some cabinets and electrical work. They did more than I expected actually on the electrical, which was appreciated. Highly recommended for their professionalism and experience.
These guys rock! Very clear email responses, was able to get an appt just a couple weeks out for 2 windows to be installed in my ProMaster, dropped it off before work was able to pick it up when I got off, no hassle! They have a wait, but its because they do honest work. The work looks great! They had to work around my cabinets and countertops, and did so without a hassle. Would absolutely use again or recommend if ever needed.
Vanlife installed our solar and electrical system in our van and we are very happy with the result! They offered helpful tips, were reliable and had excellent communication during the process.
The vanlife customs team exceeded our expectations. A couple weeks ago we realized that we needed to get a heater for our van‘s cabin. We called around (literally every store the entire United States..we were in Arkansas at that time) and Dave & his team was able to squeeze us in the same week. We hauled across the United States because we needed a heater asap. When we entered the garage we were surprised with the cleanliness and the impeccable organization in the shop. There wasn’t a single thing on he ground or out of place. This shows how proud they are of their work and the craftsmanship of their van they produce. We are writing this from our warm and cozy van while the outside temperature is 16 degrees. Thank you so much for the high quality work and a great experience! We would highly recommend vanlife customs!
I just bought a used Ram ProMaster that was originally tripped out by Van Life. I wanted to have a roof top fan put in and went to back Vanlife. They were the most helpful in picking the right fan for my needs. They got it put in within 10 days which others said it would be 4. months. Tillman was so courteous and responded to my texts and emails immediately. When I picked ups the Van he gave me a tour of the facility. Clean, professional and kind workers. I will use this company again FOR Sure. Price was great too.
Working with Vanlife Customs on the full build of my van was a dream. Dave and his team are knowledgeable, professional, honest and kind. The final build exceeded my expectations and, over a year later, still looks and functions as well as the day we exchanged keys. The shop has also been great with inspections and small upgrades. Your van, and future adventures, are in great hands with VLC.
Fantastic workmanship
Excellent customer service and helping my DIY build. Dave and his crew have helped by recommending and sourcing products, installing a van heater, and amazing follow up service. The new model heater had issues due to the manufacturer and Dave and his team were excellent at getting me back up and running. I highly recommend Vanlife Customs for your builds and DIY needs.
Went in to ask questions as I am just starting my Van journey. Everyone was great even though I walked in unannounced. They answered all myqurstions and gave me a contact number since what I was asking for was a out of their normal.
A different sort of 5 star review here and worth hearing. These guys helped build out a beautiful van for me a year ago. I immediately took it all over the country and there were some issues along the way. After trying to troubleshoot some things from afar I couldnt fix the issues. Dave took upon himself to fly out to me and fix some of the things that were going on with it. That sort of dedication to his craft and product is unheard of and I couldnt appreciate his efforts any more than I do. Thanks Vanlife!!
I was probably a small job for them. Just heater, solar, electrical, some swivel seats...Not a full build. They were able to fit me into their schedule and did an amazingly high quality and professional job.
These guys have been great to deal with over the past few years. I have brought my personal 2015 Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 van to them to help finish off the final touches on my dream van. I have also been privileged to see many builds of theirs throught the years. Their work is always top quality with very much attention to detail so that they can personalize their work to meet your needs and make it feel very unique just for you.
I work for a company called Natural Habitat Adventures that specializes in group Nature and Wildlife trips all over the world. We have a Mercedes Sprinter van that we use for our trips in Utah that needed a removable shelf installed in the back to make access to coolers and bags easier for our guides. I went to Vanlife looking for some help. They suggested a few options that factored in quality, practicality, and budget. Their communication was clear, quick, and efficient. The end product was exactly what we needed and the cost was more than reasonable. I definitely recommend these guys for any custom job you may need for your vehicle. Thanks Vanlife!
Vanlife Customs has transformed our business. We began working with Dave Walsh at the inception of both of our businesses and since then he’s built us 15+ custom vans that are spectacular. Their attention to detail, patience and creativity is unmatched. I would recommend the team at Vanlife Customs to anyone looking for a quality Campervan build that is both original and functional.
These guys were truly the hail mary of getting my van to the way it is now, they caught the ball and delivered it to the end zone in grace. I had no knowledge of solar panels whatsoever, and I asked nearly three van conversion companies to help me install solar panels. Long story short, they couldnt help install the solar panels due to the layout of my van and the insulation was a problem. These guys stepped up to the plate, understood my vision and said No problem. I was expecting a week until my solar panels were installed, it took them two days to do it! They even went out of their way to connect my water heater and created a custom rack for my solar panels as well!If I would do it all again, I would go to them first and only them because Dave, Rudy and the rest of the team are honest, passionate about the van life and it is a great company.
Super friendly staff (not just saying that) theyre hip, they get it and above all, they run an honest business and strive to give you options. Highly recommended.
I used Vanlife Customs for a few things during my mostly self-converted van build. I lost steam on a few projects and they were more than willing to step in and help in a timely manner. They installed my Espar Heater which keeps my van extremely toasty on the coldest days and it works without a glitch. I also had them install my sink amongst a few other things here and there. Dave, the owner along with his small staff of Paul, Jerry, and Rudy (and probably a few others) have been nothing but pleasant. Their expertise will be awesomely helpful in building you the van you want while using durable and light materials - they seem to always be evolving in the best way possible with their processes. Converting a van is no small feat; the learning curve is high. These guys know whats up and give a very fair price for the hours that go into this sort of thing. I would recommend them without hesitation.
Great guys! Very helpful and easy to work with. I have taken two vans to them and they have done fantastic work.
We couldnt have had a better experience than we did with VLC. VLC built out our dream van. The build quality was top notch and they were extremely responsive and helpful throughout the process. These guys are the best in the business and we highly recommend them!
Some good ideas but not what I was looking for.
Great staff, great work, no complaints. Recommended.
They were the retailer through aluminess for my rack. Great service, easy to contact and flexible with their schedule.
Busy shop with high quality people and products
Great customer service
