Clothing is expensive but the quality makes it well worth the price. Staff is helpful...large selection of writing/drawing utensils.

This store never has enough books in stock for nursing students. They do this every semester. The workers also are no help and don’t know anything. There’s a combined 3 brain cells between all the employees.

This used to be one of the easiest places to buy books, but now its absolutely terrible.I tried calling the bookstore 6 times over the past 3 days. Despite the fact that the voice message says leave a message there is no voice mail box.When I finally got a hold of a person, they put the book I needed on hold and I was told to go to the front desk of the bookstore.I went to the front desk and said that I had a book to pick-up and the manager (without asking any questions) immediately dismissed me and told me it was downstairs. I told her I was told it was up here, but again told me to go downstairs (and she was not very friendly about it).I went downstairs where the student workers were really polite and willing to help after I explained my circumstances. I came to the conclusion that there was a lot of miscommunication happening and went upstairs to get the book that was (surprise!) at the front desk. It took the cashier a second to find it because my name was not written on it, but thats understandable.Overall, I will most likely not be using the bookstore again and use the VCB or Amazon instead. Horrible and stressful experience that took way longer than it needed to.Update: The text book I ordered did not come in until 4 weeks later. After 2 quizzes and 4 readings were due in my class (I am fortunate to have bought the textbook that was in stock). I tried reaching out to management prior to this and received a standard due to covid procedures reply from the actual bookstore.My 1 star still stands (only is for the minimum wage employees actually giving out the textbooks downstairs. Theyre nice and actually try to help you).They never stated how they would resolve the issue, but instead told me to wait (like I had been). There was no sense of urgency for a book I am required to have for an education I am paying for. Overall, I stick with going through VCB or Amazon.

A friendly and helpful staff

The bookstore remodel is complete. Down in the basement. Friendly helpful service staff. Very well organized and laid out. Prices are not bad considering the licensed product they sell.

One of the worst bookstores in regard to customer service. We will be keeping our business online.

Its a nice, clean merchandise store. When we got there we got a nice discount on some of our items. Its not as big as other university bookstores I have been to, and can get quite crowded if you show up at busy hours, so keep that in mind. Otherwise, the prices are fair and they have a wide selection of items.

Still some construction under way but new store opening up and it is very nice. Loads of merchandise and books on lower level.

Entirely unhelpful. I ordered my lab manual, and they told me they had none in stock, and wouldnt have any for a number of days or weeks. It turns out a classmate of mine managed to pick up his lab manual on the same day, on some obscure shelf in the bookstore. These people at the service desk did a terrible job of finding my lab manual and fulfilling my order I made earlier in the week.

Its small and they have the essentials of what you need. But it works. And they have headphones also.

NIU is a good school overall. The student center is nice and more updated than other student centers Ive been to.

Currently under construction so hard to rate. Could not just pick up books.

This is a nice bookstore that has pretty much everything you would need for school, including NIU apparel. However, as many college bookstores go, the prices are very high on everything.

Pretty expensive and its hard to find items sometimes. Could use better organization.
