I like this place but the past few times I’ve been here Ive waited at least 5 minutes for someone to ring me up as 2-3 employees walk past more interested in doing other stuff than helping the customer. There are 5 employees and 1 or 2 are making food, 1 or 2 are in the back talking, and 1 is on the phone. I feel bad for the ones obviously working.

I have enjoyed the bagels at Barb City Bagels. I have had the Asiago, the Pretzel, the Sun Dried Tomato, the Jalepeno and Cheddar, and the Hawain thus far. My favorite bagel is the Jalepeno and Cheddar. My least favorite due to the saltiness is the pretzel one. And that is because I tend to only taste the more abundant flavor. And if you are a coffee conesour you can enjoy Iced Coffe, Latte and many different sugar free and cream options that are self-served. I usually just add Vanilla and sometimes Carmel to my coffee. There is also outdoor seating that you can enjoy from the outside seating of Tavern on Lincoln. Dine-In is also available.

I love going here for bagels and a nice cup of coffee. They’re usually pretty fast and the food is always delicious!

This is a WONDERFUL little bakery in the heart of downtown DeKalb. A small town feel combines with a fantastic menu to create a gem of a restaurant.

Super friendly staff and they have high quality really delicious bagels! Super cool flavors too! I got the banana nut, garlic, pretzel, and cheddar jalapeño bagel. I also got one of their very large cookies. Very good food

Delicious. Not really into bagels, but will definitely be coming back sometime. Got a turkey and bacon sandwich on Hawaiian bagel it was so good. Ordered a half dozen bagels after.

I ordered yesterday and it was pretty good. Most importantly the bagels were perfect. Today I ordered for delivery they must not have had any poppy or sesame bagels so they gave me all plain bagels they were fresh but an odd shape and burnt on the bottom. It seems like they tried making up for this by adding a disgusting amount of cream cheese on them. The least they could have done was contacted me and told me they were out of a certain item and ask me what I wanted to do.

Best bagels and bagel sandwiches available anywhere. The frosted bites are also a real treat. Coffee is good. Cant ask for more. Wish they would franchise out.

I rarely leave reviews but this bagel shop is *that* good. They have Intelligentsia coffee which is delicious but their bagels and bagel sandwiches are out of this world. Don’t sleep on them!! 🥯❤️

Barb City Bagels has the best bagels in town! I love how chewy and fresh they are. They have lots of great options for bagel sandwiches and spreads, but I go to grab a 1/2 dozen every so often to take home. Their everything bagels are incredible!

I used to work for BCB in 2016, and although being not the best employee I won this company best bagel in Illinois for 2016 according to spoon University. Unfortunately for BCB when I quit due to unfair business practices, owners not allowing me to clean my work station at the end of the day so they could cut my hours, and the constant character assassination I endured... I happened to take my award winning recipes with me. Sorry Dekalb for letting you down and not providing you with top-notch products these last years. Minimum wage and miserable work conditions were too much for me. God bless

I stopped in for a plain toasted bagel and when I got my bagel, it was room temperature and looked completely untoasted. They can’t even do the most basic of things, I will never be back.

Good bagel sandwiches. Very good bagels. The pizza bagel was nothing too great, but it was at least on a great bagel. Will go back for the bagels for certain.Also worth noting I drove 27 miles for bagels and was not disappointed on that end.

The bagels are great, I have dreams about the sandwiches, and I appreciate the thoughtful options they carry as well. Oh, and if you cant afford to commute to Chicago for coffee each day, you can get Intelligentsia right here. Nice people, quick and fresh food, and great coffee all in one spot. Recommended.

I was in town for an exam and stopped by Barb City after I discovered that Common Ground was closed for moving/remodeling.Order an asiago bagel with sun dried tomato spread and a hot chai. I knew something was off when I was told that they made their chai with water (I had asked about non-dairy milks). The chai tasted like the vending machine cappuccino type drinks. There was nothing resembling chai in this drink. Normally, this would be no big deal of the price matches the quality (these drinks cost $1 something at gas stations) but it cost around $5 - which is what I pay for an actual chai made with in house oatmilk at my local independent coffee shop.The asiago bagel was fine and the sun dried tomato spread was very good.

This is a very quaint bagel shop in the heart of downtown Dekalb. The staff were friendly, quick, and attentive. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on an untoasted Everything bagel was fantastic. I will definitely return and would recommend visiting for breakfast/lunch sandwiches and coffee.

This place is really good: way better food than Starbucks, and way better everything than Einstein. Best bagel place in town. Their sandwiches offer more and at a lower price. They have decent coffee too.

Place is clean, bagels and cream cheese, sandwiches delicious its a little pricey for what it is, but everything is fresh. I would only ask that persons attending behind counter be a little more friendly when people ordering. Place is not packed at all and they seem in a tremendous hurry to get rid of anyone ordering. So Id say fast with a smile is good. Extremely fast looking like you hate your job seems rude.

Best bagels around!! I came in to get breakfast and work on some homework and ended up staying until they closed! I was very productive because its a great atmosphere and the employees are so friendly. They allow free refills on coffee, so I ate too many bagels and drank too much coffee but got my paper done! They also have a kiosk in the law building on campus, so this wasnt the first time I had their bagels but it was the first time I visited their restaurant...Ill definitely be back!!

Barb City Bagels is the best bagel shop! So many different bagel and cream cheese flavors. The staff is always friendly. Usually very quick service. I highly recommend ordering a breakfast sandwich on a bagel! So tasty! They also have great sandwich options for lunch. They usually have 2 soups of the day. They have several coffee options and TONS of flavored syrups so that you can customize your drink.

First off the bagels are great, the service is sub-par at best. I have to repeat my order every time Im ordering my one bagel with one topping, its not too intense of an order. When there are a lot of customers there is no sense of urgency, I know its only a bagel Im after but come on man. The place has a great location right downtown but it is not the cleanest by far. First thing that has to go is that horrible fish tank that hasnt been fully cleaned since...? If it rained that day or the day before expect to get dripped on, dont worry its probably cleaner than that fish tank. Ceiling tiles are obviously stained from rain water and totally missing by the bathrooms. There are literally buckets on the tables that you eat on collecting the water. I hope you like everything bagels because the counter gets cleaned when the fish tank does and every order that happened in the last hour is now on your bagel. This was the last straw for me, peace out.

Amazing coffee, service, and bagels. I make an effort to come at least once a week. Great for a quick coffee/breakfast run, or for relaxing for a few minutes before starting the day.

III m addicted to the asiago bagel. Seriously good. Many choices of cream cheese, over a dozen varieties of Bagels. The owners are great. Nothing to hate about this place. Oh it also serves great coffees, so many flavors to choose. And they sell Coke products!!!!!

Bagels were good. I wish they used real egg instead of the microwaved liquid stuff. And maybe some real cheddar. Vegan soup option was good as well.

I come here every weekend to get my husband a bagel. The service is always exceptional. I did an office pack in December for my co-workers. Without asking, they put the bagels with seeds all in a separate bag. Why is this a big deal? Because one of my co-workers has a severe seed allergy so she was able to enjoy a bagel without worry of cross contamination. I will always recommend this place over a chain.
