Brought 2 boys for cuts. Took over an hour for 2 high fades and charged an extra $10 over posted price. WTH?Details if you want:- Barber didnt listen to what I said. Took 45+ minutes to cut the hair of my first son. (High fade is very simple)- Barber asked for top length I told him and pointed to area of his head with matching length.- Barber still giving low fade, I show him photo, still doesnt get it.- Barber asks for opinion, I explain where a 4th time how to cut the hair, show a bald spot and examine how to work with ethnic (mixed) curly hair.- Owner watches me sit impatiently doesnt say a word even as I look to him for obvious relief.- Owner cuts 3 other guys hair while I sit waiting with my other son to get a cut.- Other son gets cut in 15 minutes. Super simple.- Owner charges me $70 for 2 basic cuts that I could do myself . (I went to the Barber to save time, HA!)Never will I return. You hear Motown and think they could cut black hair, NOPE.When you mess something up, you usually give a discount, not charge more. The other day I ate an extra $100 expense on a $600 job because I messed up. I didnt charge the customer more. WTH?Bottom line - I do not recommend this location.

Mo is the man! always on point and a great feeling after your done. if your looking for a barbershop thats got that old school feel then this is your spot.

Motown Barbershop is the best barbershop in town!!!! The other barbershops does not compare! If youre looking for quality and great service, then this is the place for you! Mo is a nice and caring person. I have been a loyal customer for 5 years! Unfortunately, I moved back home after I graduated from UCD :(. I would definitely come back here if I ever get the chance.

Mo is the best barber in Davis. Walked in last minute after he’s had a long day at work and he didn’t just go through the motions. Shows that he cares and on top of that he hooked me up with a bomb 💣 cut. Walked in there feeling concerned, left feeling satisfied.

From the couple times I’ve been here i can say my haircuts have been inconsistent. One visit I’ll have a decent haircut, another visit my low fade will look like single number. Make sure you call before you show up too or you might be going home two hours later with no haircut because they “close early”

Im originally from LA but coming out here one of my main issues was finding a good barber while I was in school. I was told Mo was one of the best and so far this is the only barbershop that I trust and can go to when I need a haircut.Mo is a cool person and makes getting a haircut less boring. The prices are also reasonable. Although waiting times can suck, no other place will be able to cut your hair in 10 minutes so to the other reviewers complaining about how long the wait is, let them find another barbershop with quality and no wait time.

Ive been coming here since Day 1. Motown and Ben have been nothing but amazing to me and everyone else that Ive seen come through their shop. Top notch cuts every time because they are so meticulous and spot on about what their doing and always ask you to check and make sure you approve.Theres really no better place to go if you want that old barbershop vibe and fresh cut. Treat them right and theyll treat you even better.

Best haircut in Davis. They offer a variety of cuts and styles for men. Make sure to go in 1 HOUR before you want your hair cut so you can sign in. There is usually a long wait. Bring cash. Found this establishment my Junior year at UCD and havent had my hair cut anywhere else since.

But yesterday I had a very bad experience. I didn’t mind waiting for an hour at all, I happily read and browsed on my phone. But when my time came and I sat down in the chair the trouble began. The guy cutting my hair had just come back from lunch and his hands smelled of cigarettes. I asked for aScissor cut and he said “I don’t to that, just trust me bro clippers over comb is more efficient.” At that point I should have asked to see Mo but I decided to give him a chance. I explained that I wanted to clean up the sides and even up the top, as I was planning to keep growing it out. (Pretty simple stuff) but the guy went ahead and just did what ever he wanted and lopped a bunch off the top as well. It’s not a terrible cut but it’s not what I asked for and now the style I was going for won’t happend. Basically costing meMonths of growing.I’m Mostly pissed I didn’t just speak up and ask to change barbers but to shouldn’t hire peopleWho don’t listen to the client.Probably won’t be coming back.

Ive been to barbershops in LA, Laguna Beach, San Diego, San Francisco, Mexico City and Davis. This is the best barbershop Ive been to and whenever I travel to the Bay Area, I make sure to drive over to Davis and drop by Motown Barbershop. Motown is the best barber Ive met and hes a really cool guy! His crew is top of the line as well! If Motown is busy, Ben will also give you an A-class haircut!Most barbershops will go through customers as fast as possible but these guys actually care and take the time to give you what you want! The prices are also very hard to beat for such a good haircut.I highly recommend giving them a try!

Dont bother. Just drive somewhere better and just as cheap in 20 minutes instead of waiting in their creepy room for 2 hours because they dont take appointments and never have enough guys working.

Charged 18$ for spending 10 minutes on my hair and ruined it. Good job motown. The guy totally does not know what he is doing and plays with the razor like a child.

After waiting for 2 hours to get a haircut Mo told me he’s going to close early today and wouldn’t have time to cut my hair so he insisted I come back another day. 10/10 service.

With 3 barbers on staff, in and out in 1 hour 45 min. Paid 18, tipped 5. Overall, pleased with the quality and efficiency of the cut but the wait is pretty long, and they dont take appointments. Suggest signing in and then running a few errands first or bringing a book to read. This is my first visit to a new barber in a few years, and I was uncertain of what style cut I wanted. My barber seemed extremely annoyed with me for this and declined to provide suggestions for a new cut to my disappointment. That said, I would probably be annoyed with myself too given their popularity and the number of cusotmers they need to service each day. -1 for hurting my feelings, but Ill definitely revisit.

I’ve been getting my haircut by Mo since he opened his shop a few years ago. i’ve lived in davis my entire life and have been to various barbers, but Motown is forsure my favorite. He’s never messed up and knows what he’s doing! Check it out. Students also get a discount with their school ID. Ask for Mo

I was charged 25$ for very poor hair cut, I needed to go a a different barber to fix his work, I will never go back.

The service is nice and really worthy regarding the prices. A regular haircut costs $18, but students only need to pay $15 (up till Oct 4, 2016).

Motown barbershop has superb customer service, a chill atmosphere, and gives great haircuts. I wIll definitely be back!

Went to get a haircut at Motown Barbershop, Motown the owner, cut my hair. Superior haircut, his slogan is true (a no rush approach to unmatched quality and attention to detail ) Yes theres a long wait time, but is is only because Motown its the best barber in town !!!

The haircuts are alright but be weary as they say they charge 18$ they will charge you an extra 7$ if the barber uses scissors. The Owner also wasnt really a friendly guy when I asked about it.
