My wife and I are pretty new to handguns and ownership of them, and our experience here has been terrific. The staff at Davenport Guns are courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful every time we visit. James has specifically made us comfortable and informed when learning about and pursuing firearms most times weve gone. The people conducting their CCW course also did very well in presenting and preparing us for owning pistols. Glad to find this place and glad to recommend it.

Always have issues with ammo in multiple weapons. Have sold me wrong parts on a couple occasions.

My biggest complaint is none of the employees wear masks. I stand by their right not to wear them but as a person with several medical conditions that make it dangerous for me to get Civid-19, I cannot shop in the store. I would like to be using the range on at least a weekly basis but I cannot take the risk. The other reason is I am only 5 feet tall and I cannot hang the targets on the line. Why does everyone assume everybody is at least 5’6”?I do like that once you get someone attention they will answer your specific questions but they generally do not volunteer information. I wish there was another indoor range in my area

I tryed calling them and the dude got mad cause I was trying to find my orderd gun but he just hung up on me wouldnt recommend shopping off them

Went in today to buy a handgun. Three people working only one was with a customer. Needless to say my friend and I couldn’t get anyone’s attention. Well they just lost two sales.

A+ customer service. They know their stuff and they are very welcoming. Best thing is the rental case, it gives you the opportunity to try before you buy on a wide range of firearms. I highly recommend them and will be returning for future needs myself.

Cant say enough good things about this place.I took my conceal and carry course here which was a great experience and everything was first class all the way. Their store is super clean and their staff is super helpful. The range is super clean and overall could not have asked for a better experience.Also, expect to wait a little bit as gun sales and purchases are on the rise so there are more people than usual in the store and in the range so try to be patient and just remember that when youre going into the store.

Great staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Good selection of firearms for sale and rent. The range is clean and well maintained, people make an effort to pick up their spent brass/ empty casing from the shooting lanes. It is only a 15-yard range and only pistol caliber up to .44 Magnum, which for the distance is understandable.

We came in to buy a handgun, left so pleased. They were very helpful and gave us some 1/2 priced range time so my husband who is more experienced with firearms can teach me how to shoot! We will be back again for any and all of our gun needs!

Staff was educated, helpful, friendly, and answered every question I could think to ask. The range was nice, clean, well designed. The staff was vigilant of who was shooting and how educated the shooters were, educated those shooters to improve safety.I enjoyed my time here and if Im ever back in Davenport I will return.Highly recommend going by and looking around, taking a class, and or shooting if you have the time.

They have lost my business -wont be back. Horrible customer service. I waited at several different counters for over 15 to 20 minutes and no one spoke to me or helped me. I finally went to the front check out counter hoping someone would assist me. Two guys came to the counter and ignored me. One turned his back to me saying nothing and the other got something from behind the counter and left again. I stood there for a few minutes thinking maybe he was finishing something. He finally turned around and asked if Id been helped. I felt like he acted like it was a chore to deal with me.No one greeted me the entire time or said theyd be with me in a minute....nothing.

As a first time pistol purchaser i was really in the dark about what to go for. (Caliber, frame size, brand). The help and professional staff at davenport gun was top notch. I felt comfortable with what they recommended and felt like they really cared about setting me up with the right gun. Ended up buying a gun and becoming a member. Definitely recommended.

Oh I’ll take the time to write a review for y’all! Our first time there me and my lady absolutely felt welcomed and warm. Came to just target shoot and have a good time. Dude working even said you can shoot a little longer even though your time is up! Most places don’t go out of their way like this. Absolutely take my money as I’ll be a returning customer for life!

Went there on a whim as a beginner with my wife. We got a personalized and private instruction for my wife and I. Taught us the basics then shooting techniques and how to improve our aim. Was a tun of fun and very affordable. The owners were incredibly nice and helpful. Will definitely be recommending this place to everyone who I think might be interested

Signed up for the personal, classroom-based handgun instruction and had an awesome experience. Chad is an excellent instructor. After the 1 hour classroom instruction he joined us in the range until we were comfortable on our own. Highly recommend the class if you have little or no experience and want to feel more comfortable before going to the range. Very reasonable prices, too.

Just took the Intro to Firearms class with Doug. He was awesome and did a great job. I started out knowing nothing about guns and after the class was comfortable shooting at the range. Looking forward to more classes with Doug.

Every time Ive visited Davenport Guns, their staff have been friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. They stock an impressive array of firearms and a huge inventory of accessories, all at competitive prices. I havent used their new firing range but I know folks who have and do. Every one of them give it high praise. The store is clean, well lit, and nicely arranged.

Davenport Guns helped me finish the remaining 8 hours of training for my Illinois CCW when other stores werent willing. They also were the licensed dealer for a new riffle I purchased online. Very friendly and accommodating.

I am a frequent flyer here at Davenport guns...and have purchased many firearms along with accessories and other stuff from this business. They have a great indoor range and a great lay away program. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly! Their selection is beyond exceptional, be it rifles, shotguns or pistols. I would highly recommend for someone looking for a carry permit, first time buyer and for those who have a struggling gun habit such as my self! Great place!

I have had nothing but positive experiences here. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and often go above and beyond to help. I have not taken a class there yet, but I plan to. I cant comment on their gun prices. I am an Illinois resident, so I havent even looked. I come here for the excellent range and good conversation with gun people.

Tried to give this place my business instead of giving more business to the online stores, but its like they dont even try. The owner lady is very rude, and embarrassed me in front of customers. They dont keep stock of basic ammo like 2 3/4 buckshot when they run out. I call to ask when an eta is and nobody know anything. Theyre prices are WAY high on most firearms, but I was willing to at least spend money and buy ammo from there since its a local business, but it doesnt seem to be appreciated.Ohhh well Ill just keep buying my merchandise online. No skin off my back, itll save me money and hassle anyways.

Took my son there for his 19th birthday to do the full auto experience. The facilities are very nice, prices very reasonable and the staff is awesome. The instructor working with us was great and made us feel at ease. We live an hour away and plan on returning as often as possible, maybe even becoming members.

Having been here several times always with courteous and professional assistance. I was surprised when nobody could take the time to talk about ordering the firearm I wanted and to look at a trade. I have been to this shop many times browsing and to buy accessories for my gun as well as using the gun range. I have always been acknowledged and helped when needed . I really dont understand the negative reviews..their prices are very competitive the knowledge is top notch! Ive never had a unpleasant experience here every question has been answered whether it has been in person or on their Facebook page. I will continue to go to this shop even if the prices were a little which I have not witnessed.Very helpful knowledgeable staff.

Decent selection, but salesman tried to impress me with his knowledge. And became rather rude and defensive when I corrected him on one of his statements. Before I left he told me he hasnt been there for very long. If I do go back I wont deal with him.

Great staff and good service. Retail sales are difficult given most people have access to the internet. You simply cant expect to get internet pricing at a brick and mortar establishment. That said I think their prices are competitive, you can see and touch and in some cases shoot a weapon that you may be interested in.Check them out would be my advise.

Was just about ready to purchase when I was told verterans are not extended their military discount. Only active duty or retirees. Guess my war time service was not enough. I went to another store G&G and they had no issue extending the discount. I am surprised and disappointed as I used Davenport Gun Club as a range. Probably looking for a new place. Disappointed.

I visited there and spent range-time there today, and after reading the negative reviews, I felt compelled to share my experience compared to other stores:Staff is a bit stand-offish, but I find that is how gun-nerds generally are. If you talk to them they are very friendly, and are more than happy to give pointers, gather your requirements, and, if necessary point out the differences between their products and big box store products. For example; An AR platform is going to be $200-300 more than Gander Mountain. Generally speaking this is due to stuff like barrel composition, trigger kits, BCG upgrades, etc. Simply browsing without asking is like being upset that they dont sell apples at the orange store. They are very safety conscious with their range, and their ammo, while not fantastically priced, is not astronomically out of whack. To my knowledge, you do not have to purchase their ammo to shoot at their range. I plan to go back and use the range more frequently.

I have been into Davenport guns two times in the last couple of months.The first time I was looking for a specific holster and today I was going to purchase ammunition.Both times I was totally ignored by the staff, who were just standing around talking to each other. The customer service in this store is the worst I have seen anywhere. I will go to Gander Mountain or B&B Guns in the future for any other firearm related needs.This place is not worth walking into.

Very cool place not crowded

I was so excited to see a new local gun shop that wasnt the big box store. The first time I went in nobody helped me or said hi for the 20 mins I was waiting to get help. Two guys were just talking behind the counter. The 2nd time I went in there to find a pistol they were $100 more than any other local gun shop. I tried it again today and it was and will be my last time. Service was terrible and price was $80 more then what they had at Scheels in Iowa city and if you dont know places like Scheels and Gander Mnt are crazy high to begin with on their gun prices. Never again!
