Took a brand new Honda mower in for repair. Honda didnt warranty because James River said it was a fuel issue. Problem was a bent rod. Charged me $100 to fix. Now 2 months later its down again same issue. I tried telling them it wasnt fuel. It was a brand new mower out of the box. The rude service guy told me gas must have set too long over winter. Never asked me anything. Just assumed!!!

The guys at James River Equipment in Danville (especially Landon) really went above and beyond to help us out. We were in a time crunch and needed a rotary cutter ASAP. Our trailer wasnt quite big enough to fit the equipment and he spent a lot of time helping us figure out a way to get it moved safely back to our property. Super nice, helpful people - I would recommend them to anyone.

This was my first time doing business with James River. I was having my JD E160 mower serviced with their $189 special that was mailed to me, see attached picture. It was odd they couldnt book my appointment on my initial call and was told I would be called back to book the appointment the call came about a week later. Not that big of a deal since its winter but odd it would take so long. The gentleman who came to do the service was professional and answered my questions. What really got me though is when I called to pay my bill they tried to charge me $230. I had no bill so I asked for a break down of the bill and questioned the charges. He became flustered and couldnt really explain it and tried to say well it was because they drove to my home to do the service. I reminded him that the deal included free pickup and delivery and that they insisted on coming to my home to do the service. Finally he reworked the bill and says $202. I paid it to be done with the call but still feel I was over charged. If I ever do business with them again I will have a total price at the time of booking and I will see an invoice before payment.Updated 2021I decided to give them another shot this year. I would rather the JD pros work on my mower than just anyone. This time things went as they should. Service done, billing accurate, easy experience. I believe in honest reviews and adjusted this from my initial 2 star rating to 4.
