I rented a dinner suit plus accoutrements for the award ceremony for Prix Galion, a prestigious award for the most innovative new drugs, held at the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. I was pleased I was so well dressed. In the event, my company Global Blood Therapeutics won. Sharifa at Walnut Creek was very helpful in choosing the suit and additions. I would recommend anyone to use this service and would do so again.

The reason I went to House of Couture was because Im not a traditional type of girl. Im always looking for something different and unique. I started working with Sharifa and gave her an idea of what I wanted my dress to look like.Ive presented Sharifa with many changes due to a color scheme I was working with for my 25th Wedding Anniversary.The lining under the skirt was not the color I wanted so I ask Sharifa to change it and make it white instead.I bought some lace from Etsy that I found brought it to her to add to my dress. I also needed her to make the ostrich feathers on my dress below the knees instead of at the knee so this again is another change. Sharifa had to almost recreate the dress to make it longer.Im a women who knows what I want so I of course kept in contact with Sharifa week after week to make sure the dress came out exactly how I envisioned it to be.Long story short the dress was 98% completed and for some reason something was missing. I then decided to make the dress into a two piece. I know at this point Sharifa would start getting frustrated but for the money Im spending and time, I wanted to make sure it was perfect for me.All I know is that Sharifa was the most patient person I worked with and she did not try to talk me out of anything but guided me along the way to make sure she gave me what I was asking for.Thank you for taking the time to deal with me and making my day a success. I highly recommend The House of Couture to any future bride. The owner Sharifa is wonderful! She’s very knowledgeable about the wedding gowns and works with some of the best designers. Her collection of dresses is top notch! Highly highly recommend!

Serifa is a gem. My daughter loves wearing both her pleated skirts to school after she altered it to perfection for her. Beautiful shop and a large dressing room. She also has the most beautiful custom made gowns and bridal gowns!

Sharifa is amazing! She altered my wedding dress and the dresses for my entire wedding party. Her work is so great that I have been bringing her other clothes to alter. She is like part of my family!

The best way to go is letting Shari design the perfect dress.After trying over 30 + dresses it was the answer for my short full body. “It fits like a glove “ Shari listened to all my likes and dislikes and she came up with the design to cover it all. She communicated from the start until the end of the finished dress, all within the scheduled timing!

If you use this place of business only pay by credit card so you have recourse. I ordered a custom wedding dress for my daughter. Dress didn’t fit properly around her midsection. When I questioned the the pulling Sharifa’s reply was “Do you think?” The subsequent 5 fittings made the dress fit worse. It was a complete disaster. 2 weeks prior to wedding we took the dress to another seamstress. Her response was, “There is so much wrong with this, no it can’t be made right, not without yards of fabric. It was not cut properly to your daughter’s hips. She carries her hips forward and the dress doesn’t accommodate that” I returned the dress to Sharifa with a list of specifics that required attention for our purchase. Sharifa accommodated the list and spent a great deal of time herself this time correcting flaws. So I should be posting 5 stars... Nope! The dress became wearable or I should say sellable but not for my daughter. It never properly fit her silhouette. It was a fit perfect size 6 for a mannequin but not customized for my daughter’s build. Sharifa claimed we just changed our mind and wanted a different dress. “Do you think” we wanted to be dress shopping the week prior to the wedding? Sharifa herself is very nice but her staff, in this case, was inept and the dress was miss cut and therefore never could fit my daughter. We stupidly paid with a check as Sharifa had requested to avoid credit card fees and therefore we had no recourse. I’ve waited a year to write this. so as not to write from an emotional state, but buyer beware. Like another post, you too might be entering into a nightmare!

The seamstress was wonderful! She made great suggestions and put the finishing touches on my wedding attire, which made it so much more special. The alterations were perfect and need no further adjustments. The whole experience was perfect!

Sharifa was amazing!! I found her through her reviews and the experience with her was just as I had hoped for! She was very flexible to work with and her attention to detail is wonderful! Will definitely be working with her more in the future!

Amazing seamstress!! I highly recommend Sharifa. I came in desperate for a dress that looked good for a formal event. She had a beautiful dress in stock that she had made that she was able to remake to fit me. It was perfect and I am so grateful to her!! And she was able to get all of this done in a short amount of time.

The tailor here is classy and highly skilled.Since I bought this brown leather jacket during my trip to Florence, Italy, it has a lot of sentimental value. I didnt want to go to a cheap place, so I this place because the tailors themselves frequently fly back and forth to Italy and France to keep up with their inventory and current styles.Its risky going to a new tailor, because some downright ruin your clothes, but my first experience here was a genuine relief! Whenever I have clothes I really care about, Im coming back here.

Sharifa was great. I had two dresses made for my wedding and they each turned out just as Id imagined. We met several times to ensure that the design for each was what I wanted and then come fitting time, with some final adjustments they each fit perfect. The instant gratification isnt the same as walking into a store and purchasing a dress, but theres no comparison to designing start to finish.

House of Couture is awesome!! It was wonderful to see my vision for my wedding dress to come to life just from a few pictures!! Sharifa is so nice and patient. The cost is totally reasonable given that it probably was going to cost $500> to have a dress altered. I highly recommend her services.

So very helpful and top quality work while also being quick, I had a dress custom made recently { it was a dress from a cartoon show that I needed } and even though I was only able to give one reference picture and the deadline I needed it by was only one month, the dress she made was absolutely perfect and an exact replica finished in a couple of weeks. I would definitely come back for alterations and if I ever needed another dress made. Great service and great quality, I would recommend!!

I purchased my daughters prom dress last minute, (two weeks) before prom. Her dress was ready a week later! Ms. Sharif is very patient, and kind as we came in to have the dress altered, always very courteous and professional. My daughter absolutely loves her dress as it customized to her figure. Next year we will be returning to Ms. Sharif for a custom tailored formal evening dress, as my daughter wants an original design. The most enjoyable part of this experience was not standing in line to be checked out, or waiting in line to get into a dressing room. We always had an appointment, the atmosphere is relaxed, we never felt rushed. I am very thrilled to have found such a talented designer, who also has the ability to cater to her clients, and again thank you so very much.

My prom dress was very beautiful and customized by the house of couture who beautifully makes dresses she made it was really nice and the dress was really stunning. She made the dress exactly to my liking.

Really great place. Hard to find at first. Photo provided is to help find entrance. You go in this entrance and will see elevator. That will take you to her place. Exit elevator and look for 200F. Just follow door signs. Was a fair price, but you get what you pay for. By that, I mean you spend a little more you get better quality which is what I received. Really great work and great looking spot even for its size.

My dress was ready to pick-up in a timely manner and I was impressed on how quick she was able to make extra alterations on the 2nd fitting. Ordered custome made wedding dress for my daughter, when tried it was too large at shoulder, waist and height. Color and germent was also not the same as the sampel in store. Credit card resolved this dispute and gave credit back to my account

Great service! My dress was beautiful and done fast.

Ms. Sharif took my measurements for my tuxedo rental. When my tuxedo arrived, I found the jacket was wrong size. It was too big. We had to reorder the correct size. This was their fault. Strangely, I was asked to pay $50 for Rush delivery. What kind of business are they running? I had no choice because I had already paid full amount for rental at the time of order and I could not to go to other rental company due to lack of time. In the end, I was forced to pay them $25.00 In addition, I had ordered my shoes as 11 Wide, but what was shipped was 11 Medium. I was not able to use them because they were too tight. I wasted $25 for shoe rental. However, I considered this as my own fault because I should have verified the shoe size before taking them home. When I told them, they had no comment and did not even bother to offer any discount. I will not recommend this rental place to anyone . They do not treat their customers right. I feel that they took advantage of my urgent need and it is very unethical way to run a business.

House of Couture tailored my dress perfectly for my wedding day! Sharifa Raouf made sure I felt comfortable and confident in my dress during each fitting. I am grateful that I was connected with her to tailor my dress as she promptly answered any questions I had and also went out of her way to work with my schedule for dress fittings. I had a sweetheart top and a medium-sized train, but Sharifa made sure the dress was snug in the right places and that I could feel comfortable dancing the night away. She addressed any concerns I had and provided helpful advice on how to take of my dress. I was thrilled that I could easily and gracefully move around in my dress. I have also taken my dress in to be preserved through House of Couture and Sharifa also graciously offered to see if my wedding shoes can be cleaned. I am definitely returning to Sharifa for all dresses and clothes that need tailoring in the future.
