I brought my taurus to them to fix the transmission. They charged me around 2000 to do the job and when i got my car back the seat and floor had trans fluid on it and the trans was squealing and hammering going into 2nd gear. I brought it back and they told me nothing was wrong. I ended up selling the car because they refused to fix it. I will never use them again and suggest going to virginia transmissions instead.

So I drove my 92 caprice classic up to aamco Danville Va....I drove remind u... in 3 hours time my car had to be towed back home !!! and I ONLY WENT TO AAMCO FOR MY A/C motor replacement. They will literally mess with your car so u can spend more money. I never had a motor or starting issue with this vehicle before aamco. Long story short. Continue to shop around! ***AAMCO Danville VA is not the place to leave your car!! minor nor major mechanical issues I wouldnt...i could NOT recommended.

I wish I could put zero stars!! They are TERRIBLE!! Took My car in just to get My Air conditioner fixed. Dropped it off running with NO PROBLEMS! Got back My car wasnt running. Wouldnt even start. I had to get a tow to another shop. The lady that worked here was so rude and very unprofessional. I wouldnt recommend ANYONE taking their car or truck here if you want it back running. They honestly dont need to be in business. One Star is giving them too many. This was the Danville Va location on Memorial Drive.

How do you fix a car but don’t fix everything? Worst experience ever. Car driving worst than before. Left with my check engine on........? 1500.00 dollars gone. Then when I called them I was told that they were busy and would call me back. That was Friday and today is Monday. I’m a manager and customer service and experience creates repeat business. Insane

We were nervous in a new place, at the beginning of a long trip, carrying a heavy load. (too heavy) They asked great questions to pin down our problem. They were through and tested it out with the computers and on the highway. Turns out it was just an air intake sensor. So they didnt have to replace anything. They gave us great info on how to proceed with our load and told us not to let anyone take advantage of us on our way. Our transmission was fine. I have since had my regular mechanic look at it and the result is the same. I love finding an honest mechanic. They have awesome customer service.

Really nice and friendly, but will try to get over on you worse then warranty companies. Took and engine price that I looked up for $4,485 and had 5year/50,000 mile warranty labor and parts marked it up 55% to $6,950. And said it was marked up 20 to 30 percent. Very dishonest. Would never recommend anyone to this shop they are very dishonest.

RUN, RUN, RUN. Do NOT take your car here. Horrible customer service! They had my car for several weeks and never once called me. I had to call them every time we talked to find out the status of my car. They said they understood what my car was doing and that they needed to rebuild most of the transmission. When I picked it up at least 3 weeks later it was doing the same thing! I took the car back and drove in the car with the specialist and he said that its probably what my car wants to do. What?!?...Save yourself the frustrating headache and thousands of $s and take your car anywhere else other than AAMCO in Danville, VA.

A couple months ago, I purchased a used Dodge Dakota 4x4 with a bad transmission. I knew the transmission would need rebuilding when I bought the vehicle. There was no fluids leaking from the transmission or transfer case, it just wouldnt shift properly. After consulting a couple of transmission repair shops, I decided to use AAMCO; mainly because of its reputation and the warranty is covered nationwide. Wendell Wimmer and AAMCO quoted me a price that seemed reasonable so I turned it over to them. One week later, they contacted me and said the truck was ready. When I picked the truck up, the office manager (not Wendell) discussed with me what they had done and that I should bring it back to them for a checkup, after I had driven it for 7-10 days. Two days later, I noticed fluid leaking from the area of the transmission. I also didnt think it was shifting properly, so I took it back to them. They kept it a couple hours, drove it and rechecked everything. Supposedly, it was shifting properly but the computer was still adjusting to the new components and my driving habits. They could not determine where the fluid was coming from. They asked me to leave it overnight but I was not able to do that at that time because the truck was the only vehicle I had to get to work and back. So about a month passed before I could take the truck back. In the meantime, the leak had gotten worse. During that period, I also noticed a plastic splash guard was missing from underneath the truck. It had to be removed to disconnect the transmission lines from the oil cooler. So, I took my truck back to Wendell. I politely asked that they replace the splash guard (thinking that they just had forgotten to put it back on) and find out where the fluid leak was. About two days later, they called to inform me that 1) they didnt have my splash guard and apparently it wasnt on the truck when I brought it to them (it was) and 2) the leak was from the transfer case and they had not done anything to the transfer case when the transmission was rebuilt. I asked was the transfer case removed when they removed the transmission. They indicated that it was. So I tried to explain that the removal must have caused the leak, since it had not been leaking before! They denied it. They offered to fix it for an additional $350. I refused because I didnt believe I should be responsible. Getting nowhere with Wendell Wimmer, I emailed AAMCO consumer services. I was contacted by phone by a lady named Charlene, who could not have been any nicer! She went above and beyond to rectify my issues but because each shop is independently owned, there was little she could do. How do I know the transfer case wasnt leaking before I took my truck to AAMCO, you might ask? Well, because any competent garage would have immediately seen the leak in the transfer case when it was removed from the truck, and thus brought it to my attention to also be repaired when the transmission was rebuilt. Wendell Wimmer and the Danville, VA AAMCO did not. Now I am left with a leaking transfer case and my only other option being legal action. For those who read this whole story, I hope it will benefit you by keeping you from getting taken like I was by Wendell Wimmer and Danville, VA AAMCO. And if any of you know Wendell Wimmer, but sure and show this to him. Thank you.

Wendel from this Aamco installed a new transmission in our Dodge Ram 3500. The service was exceptional and the price was more than fair. His attention to our situation and his detailed explanation of how to better use our trucks transmission (we tow a 17,000lb 5th Wheel) was of the highest level. 1yr and 4mths later while traveling in NJ, we needed a minor repair and he honored the warrantee with ease. We highly recommend this Aamco for their professional service and quality workmanship.
