I love this store and although there are other grocery stores closer to home I still prefer to go to this one. Its got a great bakery and deli counter & a nice selection of plants and flowers too.

This is a grocery store with class! The staff are attentive and helpful, always willing to answer questions. They have a great produce and deli section and lots of variety.

The Safeway in Damascus, Md is unique among Safeway Stores. Many of them are rundown, dirty and have no staff working in any of the dept after 3pm. However Damascus Safeway is amazing, the asst mgr of the store is always there to assist, even if its to bag groceries, truly old school! Only go to Damascus Safeway!

Liked the Damascus Safeway better than the Germantown one. Friendly, helpful people. Had one of the free items in stock but not the other. They were apologetic.

James was extremely helpful when I came in searching for a specific gift card. After I asked him if they had any of the ones I was looking for left, not only did he come back and check on us to see if we found it, but he searched other places in the store to see if they had any in stock. Usually people wouldnt take the time to follow up or check in the first place, so I really appreciated the effort that James put in during my visit.

It was clean had very helpful employees,some of the customers seem r@cist not really sure tho but almost every time I was in an aisle it seems as the costumers would walk by were fast .one lady grabbed her kid and pulled them from out that aisle,she wasn’t running around or touching anything. Maybe i just feel like that cause trump just lost and I’m African American and I was in a town that had many trump signs

Nice store. Bakery is far better than Giants on average. Otherwise prices and availability are on par with Giant

Its my neighborhood Safeway. Has all the Safeway stuff plus a bonus Starbucks! Has an outdoor dining area for some reason. Keep note: the bathroom is in the front, left side, past the mini dining area. Bring your mask they have bouncers.

Safeway is always good for produce and meat selections. The store is always well stocked and clean.

Everything was clean and easily accessible. The bathroom had cleaning products on the counter so my only star off was because I had to move it in order to wash my hands and with COVID-19 I didnt want to move the items

This Safeway is my go to grocery store for fresh food. Particularly, produce is always fresh and staff is polite and helpful. Full disclosure, I usually buy when items are on sale as shelf prices are usually higher than Walmart or Aldis.Used the Safeway online purchase, pickup and delivery services. These services are ready for pickup or delivered as promised; if you use text messaging, Safeway will send confirmations. Be sure to check the produce for spoilage...as younger adults pick the grocery items. The bananas I received were edible, yet badly bruised.

I know it may seem silly to review a place for seasonal things... And this is my neighborhood Safeway. But there are two great reasons to shop there.1. They always have some great fresh flowers for all of the seasonal things like Valentines, and Easter, Mothers day etc. And the prices a re pretty reasonable, especially compared to delivery and flower shop prices.2. My wife has received so many great compliments on the fresh produce she buys at our neighborhood Safeway. I dont know if this area just has really good produce, or if the buyer at this store really knows their stuff. But they really do a good job in that department too.Im not the person doing the main shopping function for our home, but to these two things I can attest.You will be hard pressed to do better.

I enjoyed shopping here. Courtesy and service is on point. I used to work in a produce department and I am pleased to report the produce looks fresh and rightly rotated by FIFO methods. Checking out and bagging were also on point as my prior experiences confirmed appropriate level of service and interaction. The store is clean and well stacked with goods. I previously experimented with the Pork chopped from there which the entire family enjoyed from my cooking. The town itself has great growth potential for both business and people, and this store sits right in the middle of three entry and exit points.

Safeway has really upped its game over the last 10 years. Much better selection and lower prices. Gas is the least expensive in town!

We have been using the pickup service for the last five times weve shopped here. And, it has been wonderful. The attendants have been at our car in less than 2 minutes (max) each time. It only cost $5 for the service. And, were on our way home in less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend!

Very good Safeway. Clean and well staffed with friendly folks. The only issue is expired products constantly being on shelves. Ive taken home tons of stuff that was a month expired and not realized it.

Good store newer Safeway and the store is clean, neat and well stocked. I just wish they would have more cashiers at certain times of the day, only 1 or 2 registers are open. Yes they have self checkout but at times the wait is better in the register aisle with the cashier.

This is my neighborhood grocery. They generally have an excellent selection of produce, and I especially appreciate the large cheese selection. The pharmacists are carrying and friendly. And I love the cents off gas rewards at the local Safeway gas station!

There prices seem good although we definitely have to pay better attention to expiration dates because weve bought expired salad and baby food and didnt realize until we got home. Also, there fresh snow crab legs smell and taste a lttile off. There prepared and seasoned shrimp smell good, but taste off and gave us an upset stomach multiple times. Overall, the rest of their food is good and the location is convenient so we keep going back. Hopefully they make a few quality improvements.

Always find expired product everytime I come there

I love this Safeway....it is the best in the area. The flower department always has great arrangements at resonable prices and the bakery has a wonderful selection of desserts.

Its a supermarket. Clean and well-kept with a Starbucks inside.

Good place to shop if there is some good deals. People who watch the self scan machine are very rude and never they have enough cashiers to check out. There are huge customer lines extended in to the aisle.

Great supermarket, huge and very well stocked. No beer and wine but thats not their fault; Its Montgomery countys archaic liquor laws that go back to prohibition.

Called to ask about an application review. I’ve called multiple times and it seems you guys are ALWAYS “TOO BUSY” Why not hire more people? 7:00 pm and I get how it may be frustrating to take calls and handle customers. Wouldn’t be much of a problem if you guys had more reasonable hires. Would love you if you trained employees just to use the phone. Seems they are very overwhelmed and unhappy to talk to more customers. I apologize to the guy who answered tonight he tried to help under such circumstances.

Quick in and out service

If you have a different shopping option DO NOT go to this location by no means at all. On August 15 I called the bakery to ask what time would they be open ‘til because a friend of mine preordered and purchased a cake for me for my birthday. Upon arriving at the store the bakery was closed but he had left my cake on the counter. As I was walking to the registers to inform the staff that the cake was pre purchased I was met with 4 different employees. The ASM Mr. Boga then began to accuse me of trying to steal the cake. I produced the receipt and was still being accused. Customers were looking at me and I was very embarrassed and have anxiety. The emotional distress that I had to endure was totally unacceptable. I’ve shopped at Safeway since I was a child in Kensington but from this I will NEVER return

Clean and fast pick up services

Its what youd expect from a grocery store, pretty good deals and the staff are nice. also the bakery is good unlike some other grocery stores

The seafood is the best selection in the local Damacus area, however, be careful and read the expiration dates and sales prices very carefully.1) It is not uncommon to see expired seafood product on the shelf. Ive alerted management to the issue several times, they say oops, take it back, but it continues to happen.2) The sign with the sales price is sometimes next to a similar but more expensive product (E.g. sale on farm raised salmon sitting next to the wild caught salmon). When I informed the fishmonger and the manager about the deception, the fishmonger suggested people need to read the signs more carefully. (i.e., they didnt care). Upon escalation to management, the agreed, but over the next few days nothing changed. and the sales price continued to sit on top of the wrong type of salmon.Customer service from both the fishmonger and management is lacking. Nice and polite folks, but not seemingly trained in customer service or putting themselves in the customers shoes.I’ve tried to contact customer service several times and they do not respond, so customer service is lacking from the corporate level as well.

Recently moved to Ijamsville and really enjoy the Damascus Safeway.

This location is stocked well, much better than my local Safeway.

Good selection. Ok on the prices compared to weis. Clean and quick checkout. Employees were very helpful and went above and beyond to endure every client was taken care of. Open until midnight. Clean and offers some great deals with the club card if you search for it. Sometimes it has trouble syncing the deals and you dont get your discount.

The best grocery store around Damascus; fine produce, fully stocked items and great customer service.

I went into the store happy and smiling, I went in to get a salad, but when I got the salad and went back home to my surprise I found a stink bug inside my food. I was disgusted and immediately spat it out, I will never get my salads there ever again.
