I stopped by Safeways in San Francisco and Daly City in search of Melba Toast for my Aunt.As soon as I walked into the stores I asked the first employee I saw if they knew if their store carries it. The first one in SF said he remembers seeing it and directed me to where he thought I might find it. Could not locate it in SF.Drove to the Westlake Daly City store and did the same. To my surprise the first employee I asked said he knows he had seen it in the store. We could not locate it in the cracker aisle so we went to the bakery department. A very nice lady walked with us to where she thought they would be. We went to two different aisles and could not find it.I cannot say enough good things about the Safeway employees I encountered today and their willingness to help. They are Superstars as far as Im concerned and have mastered the real meaning of customer service!!

Great convenient store. Store is well organized and clean and all staffs are respectful. They have the greatest sushi. You wouldnt even think its from Safeway. Wide variety of bread and cheeses. If youre looking for something to cook or quick bites on the go.. Be here! Snacks are all great 👍

Store nice and clean in viewable areas.. But,, Very dirty Restrooms and broken door at toilet, Doesnt lock. They use garbage can to lock door. Toilet paper placed on handrsil.. Covid risk.

I like westlake store. Very comfortable to be there. People are friendly.

An excellent Safeway location. More deli choices. Great overall selection. Prices are average. But who doesnt want save some dollars ever now and then. People who work here are business nice. The only real down side to this location is the prominently displayed and used rental security. But even the security people deploy ed at this location are better than the King Street location in San Francisco. So overall a win.

Nice Safeway, well stocked, good selection, not too crazy busy. Conveniently located for home depot runs. Starting to lock up more products, which is inconvenient if you want to buy liquor or some otc medication or hygiene products.

Low prices, good deals, and big selection. This Safeway has everything from noodles to pork chops. Alcohol selection is top notch. The bulk food items are plentiful and good quality. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Chicken bar, olive bar, Chinese food, fresh sandwiches and more.

I like this place, very clean, organized, and friendly people, especially the cashier name Dania. I gave 4 stars because, its sold out of a few of my favorites frozen food.

It was not crowded, i was able to find almost everything I need, so in general i was sutisfide.

I order my cakes from their bakery and I must admit the cakes are pretty good and reasonable price. The people that work at the bakery are very friendly.

Talking about Safeway.. Many people would argue with me about pool of goods that Safeway has comparing with a Traders Joe.. Ill definitely agree with that. You can find a cool staff in a both places. But Safeway provides a self checkout option for you which is highly significant for me because I dont want to spend time in a lanes at the grocery store. And yah.. Business hours.. If you want some cool staff closer to night there is no option for me - Im going to Safeway. Thanks guys for your great work!

Sunday evening I arrived to buy 3 items. I first wait for someone to unlock Tums. Yes, tums, it seems OTC antacids need locking up. Then the self check out refuses to permit me to process alcohol (which wasnt locked up). So I join 7 other people lining up for the only human check-out line in operation. The produce here seems pretty decent, but the experience is pretty terrible. Glad I dont live near here. Takes me 20 minutes I what should have taken 5.

A general grocery store with a very good selection of produce, meats, canned goods and sundries. Prices are what I consider middle of the road; some sales approach discount store levels. There is usually a selection of premium meats, but the selection is somewhat limited. Bakery is excellent and reasonably priced. Masks required. Social distancing is encouraged and there are plexiglass barriers between cashiers and customers.

The store is clean and beautiful. A nice suburban delightful store. Free plentiful parking. But, on 11/17/19 the lines moved way too slowly. It was annoying. The cashier guy was not friendly! In January, 2021 or December, 2020, the front desk girl was mute, very odd. Then the lady front end manager said they did not accept lightbulb returns. I had to get very upset 😡& demand to speak with the store manager. She called him & then said shed take the $11 light bulb return that I had a receipt for. She claimed people were stealing them & then returning them for cash. How pathetic! The store is physically nice, but some of the workers, including managers are of poor quality. I did not appreciate being thought of as a criminal!! I still shop there, but if they cause me more strife, I will complain to their headquarters with the names of the idiots!

This is a large store! The placement of stock is odd. Its hard to find things in refrigerator cabinets because they have random ones in odd places and some items arent with others. They had lots of good stuff, but its sure confusing because there doesnt seem to be a consistent set up. Its a neat store...but I was perplexed at the floor design. Someone got creative

Went for the first time and noticed a VERY limited selection of articles. Unlike Publix supermarkets in Florida, or even Walmart.

During the early morning when the market opens its nice and quiet. All of the shelves are getting stocked and all the workers are preparing orders to be delivered for online customers. This is the best time to do your shopping quick line and lots of help. Youll be one of the lucky shoppers to find deals still in stock like this pizza .

I have ordered a cup of grande Matcha tea latte Inside this store Starbucks, taste too sweet and the matcha tea taste too light, compare with peets, peets matcha tea taste is more than more good Starbucks, Starbucks matcha tea powder has been mixed with sugar, 16oz matcha tea latte have 32 oz sugar, but at peets sugar is optional.I made a purchase this morning 10/20/2021 at 8:20 a.m. at the Starbucks Located in Safeway at Westlake, Daly City (Store #3031). I had a Starbucks Loyalty Reward ($5.00 for a cup of coffee and a sandwich). The cashier(man) gave me the coffee but the store did not have the sandwich that I wanted. He told me either I pick another bakery or I would need to do the refund. I said to do refund and he had to ask for other person to assist me. I waited(women)for 15 minutes until the refund was processed. Apparently, what she did not tell me was that my reward would be gone and that I had to give she back the coffee. I was unsatisfied by she action where he shoved her hand in front of me like it is demanding me to give she back the coffee. No apology and very unprofessional. This is very rude and I do not appreciate this type of customer service. Starbucks in Safeway at Westlake, Daly City (Store #3031) services is poor.

This is my go to place after so many years of being an excelsior district safeway customer. it is big, it has a wonderful bakery, and theres an international assortment of food in the front, being Filipino, Japanese or Chinese.oftentimes they have overpriced poke, but what is poke thats not cheap lol.the freshly baked bread and the cookies are a must. My six and 8 year olds would think this place is Disneyland if there was one Mickey Mouse balloon.

No cooked chicken no cat food or cat treats

This place is the worst! Their produce department is horrible. Their floral department is a shame, charging high prices for dying flowers. And then they charged me $12.99 to fill a ballon that I brought in myself. Lesson learned, I will not come here ever again. Trader Joe’s, here I come!!

4/29/21. Spent 40 minutes waiting for the young lady to make me 2 sandwiches. She needs a helper. One person making these custom sandwiches cannot do it alone.Starbucks employees had no customers and 3 of them were speaking so loud and laughing. I was the only customer and they still made the wrong drink.Starbucks employees are noisy and not paying attention to their job. Just fooling around.The self check out had no employee monitoring the machines when the machine stoped and the light went on. So wasted more time waiting. I had a cleaning woman get me checkout help. I had asked other employees passing by but they refused by saying they don’t work at checkout.I felt I was spending my day in the store just waiting for service. It was a waste of time experience.

The Deli counter is awful totally ignored by the deli counter took them 5 minutes just help me while they are behind the counter looking at me. Then I purchased a slice of cake and the container was never properly sealed so slice of cake was ruined not a good experience the bananas was bad just awful.

You really never know when its busy or not. But this store is the only Safeway that has an abundant supply of asian food/groceries. Also convenient location at westlake plaza. Great selection of produce and yogurts.

Safeway is always a great shopping choice... great variety on various different types of cooking styles which is hard to come by in many stores( a definite plus of living in the bay area, where this happens more)I will note that the Safeway was packed yes I visited on a sunday... but still... considering the times I would have preferred for a limited amount of people inside the store... on the other hand the store was clean and and everyone complied with the Face masks, which I am grateful for...As an FYI they only have one side of the doors operational and with a security guard at the entrance making sure everyone is complying with the orders, so just only one door for entrance and one for exit, just to keep in mind

I enjoy shopping at Westlake Safeway grocery store, for many other reasons. Number 1, the sandwich sale (not) every Friday is what I look forward to. The donut for $4 half a dozen is also what I look for, except lately I noticed that it is kinda old and hard when I eat it for breakfast the following day.Wine, is also what I look for at sale price and they have some reasonable one in the cooler section.

Has just the right things you would need in a small place. Would be a good place to go to if youre on-the-go, or if you just need a quick shop. Quick note, only has food. It doesnt have any clothes accessories or anything else that isnt food. For all you Japan lovers, it even has sushi, and quick service as well. Forgot to mention they also have prescriptions with high security for the customers. Would recommend it for a quick shop.

Store has a good selection, the employees are very nice and helpful. This stores downside is there are rarely enough open check stands (There were 7 people in front of me in line on my last visit) and I end up bagging my own groceries half the time to help expedite check out. If you advertise to open another check stand when there are more than 3 people in line, you should schedule enough cashiers. You should also have enough courtesy clerks too.

Westlake SafewayTypical of Safeway. Because of Covid-19 they closed one set of doors. So we walk to the available doors, only to be told that the carts are over in front of the closed doors. Other than that, a pretty typical experience at Safeway.

We arrived a little before 4pm. The line to get in was very short. You were able to shop without too many people. I like how Safeway has labeled the directions for each aisle on the floor that makes it so much easier for shopping in the aisles.

You have been warned.I gave them a chance to resolve this matter instead of posting publicly like this however, considering how they are not taking matters in a professional and safe way is EXTREMELY CONCERNING!!!My wife ordered the cake on the phone, so I went to go and pick it up at 11/25/20 around 14:00hrs-15:00hrs (Price was 30$). As I stood there, a big lady came out and asked my what I wanted, so I told her pick up and she started yelling at me telling me, YELLOW CARD considering how she spoke (Very rude and unprofessional) saying that online purchases need to provide a yellow card which is great and everything but I ordered on the phone. After I tried to explain to her more than 3 times she stopped trying to help me and let a gentleman to assist me whilst speaking Mandarin to each other, who knows what they were saying but the tone was very unpleasant. After having to tell him several times what the cake was he finally asked for the phone number it was under and then thats when it got worse. The man got the cake, NO GLOVES and DIDNT BOTHER TO WASH HANDS! He opened the cake box, AGAIN no PPE! Then he put the cake in the box and ONCE AGAIN, NO PPE! (The big lady didnt even wear gloves as she was moving food back and forth). Then I was going to buy another cake there and he started saying, PAY IN FRONT! so I put it back, he handed me the cake with barehands and again, YOU PAY IN FRONT! They also failed to provide the cake decorations that came with it, but being rubbed the wrong way I didnt even want to go back.I didnt call till the night because I didnt want to ruin my daughters 1st birthday cake, which a young lady tried to help me at 21:08hrs (Mariella? Marcella? Sorry Im bad at names) and said manager Kevin is supposed to call me back... Never got the call.PLEASE! DURING THIS PANDEMIC, ANY PERSONS DEALING WITH FOOD OR EVEN BE NEAR IT IS SUPPOSED TO WEAR GLOVES! Im glad they hire people, but if the very people who is supposed to follow store protocol acts as if they were above the law then you need to get your priorities straight. In the possible event of getting COVID-19, I will sure as hell be sure to sue you folks. It seems I have got the short end of the stick, but from this experience I WILL WARN EVERYBODY I know and make this public. Considering this I will let everyone know not to go to your dirty bakery or even this Safeway as you have failed to provide a SAFE WAY to the people and have failed to contact me which in turn speaks of negligence towards something VERY SERIOUS!

Not such a great Safeway, selections were limited, and security kept following me making me uncomfortable as if I were a dirty pirate or up to something! (I dont think I looked any more suspicious than some of the other customers!)
