I have no clue why people are lining up at Starbucks๐คฎ right down the street when Fiction is only a few steps away! This local neighborhood coffee stop is an absolute jem ๐! The coffee is amazing โฆ I always get the Junie B โฆ and the customer service is on point! Also, your fur babies are welcome here! The staff even offered my dog a treat. Definitely check this place outโฆyou wonโt be sorry!
AMAZING! After driving by this place a couple of time. Today, I decided to visit. Jared was so friendly and gave me a huge welcome. The coffee is delicious, the vibe is perfect, and I love the dark colors. I got the secret garden with oat milk! Im looking forward to trying out their other drinks
One of the best iced vanilla lattes Ive ever had in my life! It was smooth and had a great balance of flavors. It was a little pricier than a normal iced latte but since the syrups are house made I can understand why. I want to go back and try their other fun drinks!
They serve Counter Culture coffee, its great. The spot itself is nice inside, decent seating. The outdoor seating is minimal and doesnt give much to look at, just an intersection. Service was good. Not much food on the menu.
Great vibe for a coffee shop. Delicious latte!! Super friendly staff. Just wish there were more seating and then it would be perfect.
I really want to like this place, itโs cute and the service is great. But Iโve been here 3 times over the past year and the coffee is awful. Iโve tried pour over, a latte, and a seasonal drink and theyโve all been lukewarm or the coffee flavor is terrible
Great coffee! Great service! Love the vibe. Read some of the complaints on the one star reviews and got a nice chuckle. Before you get online and complain for goofy reasons, maybe take a deep breath and look inward for a changeโฆ.
Ive only had the Americano here but it was good. It was easy to tell that it was a high quality brew. The place has a nice atmosphere but is a little too small for the crowd. The prices are pretty cheap which is a definite plus. And one of the most friendly baristas Ive ever come across in my life made this experience a little extra special.
OBSESSED with this place. Coolest staff ever, awesome vibe, but most importantly - incredible drinks! Their cold brew coffee is the only thing thats gotten me through this hot Dallas summer. I cant recommend this place enough!
I loved the dark moody vibe of this coffee shop! I had a latte and it was quite good.
A quaint coffee bar located in the Baylor University Medical District. I stopped in for an afternoon pick me up and chose the Hemp Lavender Latte! It was delicious, but had an odd aftertaste. It was my first time using hemp milk, I think that could be the reason. I really didnt mind it though and would order this drink again. I loved the simplicity of the coffee bar, and the fact there are plugs located on the bar! How convenient for people to work and drink coffee. I truly appreciate a coffee shop that has real mugs instead of to go cups. Sometimes you want to sit and relax with your coffee and this bar accommodates and encourages It! A handful of options on the menu are exclusively sold in mugs only. They have hemp, almond, milk, milk/50 options available for creamer. I will definitely be coming back! Loved the comfy couches/chairs as well!
Great coffee shop! Got the secret garden with oat milk (specialty drink with recommended milk substitution) and a cold brew with salted caramel and oat milk (barista recommendation). Baristas were super friendly and coffee was delicious. Parking was a bit hairy and not much seating but those didnt detract from our experience at all. Plus, the bathrooms were clean. ;) On my list!
Tasty Chai Tea and friendly staff. Super cozy atmosphere as well.
Always having a wonderful time here. Lisa and Becca are always our go to baristas. They remember me, welcome me and make me feel at home as I order up a Chai Latte with oat milk. Always coming back.
First time visit today. Latte was good and cashier was very friendly.
Great place to get a coffee and a scone or taco. Had a chai latte (pictured), which was really good. They have a fictional menu, which looks good too. Not a lot of food options but they have scones, muffins, and tacos (veggie options). Good seating for working and relatively quiet place! Would go back!
Being a nurse during this pandemic has made me more tired than ever but I just found out about this gem, fiction coffee and been living next to it for almost a year.Strong but not too sweet the Junie b is my absolute favorite and powers me through my day.I am not sure what kind of magic they sprinkle in this coffee but itโs absolutely delish
I feel Good supporting a local business and not Starbucks less than a mile down the road.
Exceptionally friendly and fantastic coffee. Great place to be reading or catching up.
Maybe the hot coffee was better than the iced coffee...
First time here and I absolutely loved it. Every employee provided us great service, drinks were amazing. Happy customer right here, Iโll be returning soon.
Wonderful staff, extremely helpful. The menu is unique and filled with excellent drinks + seasonal creations. Highly recommend getting a donut or taco as well.
Great artisanal coffee, really lifts the mood and keeps me focused on work. Great atmosphere.
I cannot describe the enjoyment this coffee gave me. I was truly sad when I realized I had finished my cup... Since I had covid my taste has been on and off. Just leaving Dahlias having spent a pretty dollar and was as satisfied as I thought was possible but I took my first sip of the Secret Garden and my soul left my body. I couldnt get enough apparently because it didnt last long. Oh I have a habit of locking my keys in my car, old 2000 forester. I did leave my keys in the car after leaving this place and was more upset about leaving my coffee in there than actually waiting to get my car unlocked. Its that good. I was so excited when I was able to get to it again haha....
Absolutely love this coffee shop. Itโs small so sometimes if itโs packed, you may not be able get a seat but the tables are shareable. The coffee is very tasty. I had a dirty chai and it was one of the best ones. Iโve had plenty of dirty chais at surrounding coffee shops and I think this one takes the lead. The staff is very friendly. Very great quality service.
Really good chai latte, will definitely come back!
Great coffee & friendly staff. I recommend it.
Cool vibes, coffee just didnโt hit right.
I cant wait to go back!
Nice little cozy spot with feel good paintings inside and a bit away from the busy downtown traffic. They make all of their syrups in-house, and have a menu featuring some unique specialty drinks. There drip coffee is counter culture roasters based out of South Carolina. I tried a drink off of their โfictionalโ list and it was pretty unique and tasty: a cortado with their maple habanero syrup, garnished with black pepper. Not too sweet, and a heat that satisfyingly hits the back of your throat. The baristas were super friendly and able to explain the menu well. Would come here again.
Coffee was decent but a little on the pricier side.Id like to come back when the inside is open. Looks like it could be a cool hang out spot. Right now they have walk up service that is right outside their door.
In Dallas celebrating a birthday and happened upon Fiction Coffee ! Terrific coffee of the day (free refills) and had the best ever Eggs Benedict served on a light and flaky croissant. It was so delicious! Great menu serving breakfast and lunch only until 3:00 pm.
Usually I love going to independent coffee places, but this one not so much. The coffee and pastry I had werent all that great. Also, the parking area is very small.Plus the entrance is steep, so your car is bound to get scratched while going up.The place did have a good coffeehouse feel to it though, so it wasnt terrible.
Their signature drink, the staghorn latte, is actually on point; fairly subtly blends of earthy texture mixed with your typical smoothness from the foam. Great ambiance and friendly staff. The only reason it isnโt a 5 Star review would be for parking and space - this is a very small shop, and their parking is rough. They do have a small lot, but it fills quickly.
Small, pleasant, consistant product.
Amazing coffee and a great, caring, and thoughtful staff!
One of the best lavender lattes Iโve had in Dallas
Wow, what a transition! Weโve been coming since this place was Method. The baristas are great for a conversation. I prefer Onyx coffee to Counter Culture, personally. The aesthetic is a nice change, though I am still unimpressed with the seating options. Unless youโre by yourself or in a party of two, youโll be out of luck.
Awesome vibe and experience here!! I heard about their pop up Christmas decor on Instagram and knew I had to go by! It was so cute inside! Everything is so Christmasy and fun! The staff are really friendly and despite being decently busy my drink came out quick! I had the hohohotchocolate which was delicious and served in an adorable snowman mug. And I had a blueberry muffin which was also great!! Then I posed for some pix next to their fab wall!! I would highly recommend!!
Good neighbor hood coffee. Close to DTS. A bit pricey but not bad.
Intelligentsias barristas are amazing! They are world renowned and each cup is perfection. In addition to excellent coffee beverages, Intelligentsia has the most amazing hot chocolates and mochas made with Askinoise Chocolate.
Nice expresso, different flavor than Starbucks, pricey for the size of the drink.
The wait staff at this establishment is rude, and the food is over priced. Do not waste your time or money here. Take it from a Dallas local - there are far better restaurants in the historic district than this over rated coffee shop.
Im giving 2 stars because the staff is very friendly and welcoming, but the coffee is so terrible and unexciting. Would not go back personally.
Best quality coffee, not too acidic, love their iced brown sugar lattes and hot chocolate. they make all their seasonal syrups in house, and they have great quality stuff.
Got a latee and they were sooo nice. Driving thru the circle was strange, but it worked
One of my favorite coffee places in Dallas! Seating is limited, but dont let that stop you from visiting. The drip coffee has always been good, and staff is friendly. Love that they have bookmarks with the phrase fiction reveals truth that reality obscures - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
My favorite place to get an iced mocha latte with almond milk, so freaking good and the staff is so nice. Favorite coffee shop in Dallas.
Love going here every year around the holidays. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming. The coffee is delicious and some home tastes even better when its served in a Christmas mug. Every year Im so impressed to see a new mural design thats perfect for a cute holiday pic. Definitely recommend stopping by.
Good coffee, small space
Fantastic coffee and their customer service is top notch.
Delicious Latte, went in and asked for Macchiato but the Barista ( without saying a word, maybe wanted to say this aint Starbies ) proceeded to explain the macchiatio being only 3 oz with a splash of milk. (Maybe it was the look on my faCe?? ) I was thankful. Chose the Latte. It was Fab. I appreciated the knowledge!!
Trendy little coffee shop with a pretty chill staff. Coffee is a little on the pricey side ($3 for a cup of drip, $6 for their fancier stuff), and the space tends to fill up fast since its in a small space, but its its a nice place for a coffee date or to feel like a hipster while you work on your podcast or whatever other hipster project you need wifi for.
Great place. Great coffee. Great people. The only thing I will say is the seating is very limited, but other than that its a perfect shop!
This is by far one of my favorite coffee shops in Dallas. I am always greeted with a smile and my oat milk latte is perfect every time. The atmosphere is perfect for getting work done or relaxing with a good book. Super cute, comfortable seating and great decor.
Spencer and his staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful on suggestions or questions on coffee. With and absolutely amazing atmosphere!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
The only thing that sucks about Fiction is the limited seating, but other than that, its great. Big fan of the hellfire syrup, which is a nice habanero flavor. They also have 8oz lattes, which is basically the perfect size.
You know how there are some coffee shops where the coffee is undeniably good, and the employees know that, but they can be a little aloof and judgmental? Like they missed the day where they learned how to be gracious employees? Fiction is not like that at all. They have mastered the perfect balance of quality coffee and quality service and THATS what I love most about this place. Their employees maintain a casual, familial vibe without ever sacrificing professionalism and efficiency. They also seem to be happy, like genuinely pumped, about coffee, hospitality, and working with their fellow colleagues. Good camaraderie between employees always translates into the product; its what adds the extra ingredient of love we often desire, but so rarely get from many other establishments. I truly feel like they made my coffee with love every single morning. Also! Regardless of who was working, their drinks were always exceptional (which speaks volumes about their management and the hiring and training of their staff). I appreciate their consistency.I was a regular and I observed how they dealt with difficult customers who deserved poop in a bag. I was always impressed with how they handled those situations with certainly more grace than I could have mustered: Im talking directly to you, perpetually miserable taco lady. But truth be told, the aforementioned taco lady really is an outlier; their customer pool is resoundingly affable and loyal. Fiction fosters this sense of community, inherently because of its location in the Bryan Place neighborhood as well as its Common Desk family, but also on its own, separate accord; little things like leaving communal sketchbooks for customers to draw/write in, encouraging strangers to share their work space with each other, and brandishing their exterior with murals (though I have been known to mutter a curse word or two under my breath when people wont get out of the way while Im trying to park). The aesthetics of the coffee shop are tidy and cozy, warm and relaxed, modest and welcoming. The thriving staghorns stationed on their exposed brick wall are a delightful touch. I must also make mention of their neon open/close sign. It says Non-Fiction when theyre closed. Genius. GENIUS!!!!!!Fiction is what every coffee shop should strive to be. The attention and care put towards their coffee is a result of their commitment to delivering quality products. I came here for the coffee, but stayed for the people. It was an absolute staple when I lived in Dallas and thus concludes my Ode to Fiction.
Giving this place 5 stars for the service. The staff was kind and welcoming. Good services and attitude is hard to find. This coffee shop started my morning off with a positive vibe.
Great experience here! Coffee, pastry and breakfast taco were good and service was quick. The lady who took my order was patient and answered my questions. Comfy (but limited) seating. I was able to snag a spot at one of the single bar seats. Plugs were available and I enjoyed the playlist.
Great coffee with a neat vibe. A fun place to hang out and work. Friendly service. Parking is somewhat limited, but not the worst Iโve seen.
Had their Moroccan Mint (caffeine-free) tea and will be back for more. Great service as well!!
My favorite coffee shop of all time. It isnโt a bright and pretentious cookie cutter shop like all the others in North Texas, which is my favorite thing about it. Itโs tiny, cozy, and welcoming. The prices are kinda high and the parking is rough, but itโs all worth it because the quality of their stuff is always great. I love all the small details and things around the shop and itโs obvious that everyone who works there actually likes being there and cares about their craft. Itโs unique, and nothing else can compare to it.
Exceptional espresso. They were serving counter culture hologram at the time I visited, but the cup was sweet, with gentle acidity, free of sourness or acridity. Lovely presentation and atmosphere as well.
We live in the area neighborhood and start every morning here! Theyre such an amazing part of our little community, the coffee is great, and the staff is amazing. They always know our names and our orders.
Best iced honey rosemary latte
Really love the aesthetic of this little shop! Its pretty sweet and they have shared spaces which is really convenient for studying and frees up space. My friend had a chai tea latte. Her reaction, and I quote, I think this is the best chai latte Ive ever had. I had a London fog that was really great too!
Dont fret if its busy, it is worth the wait. Ive had nothing but great experiences here and will keep coming back. It has a cool atmosphere. They have so many reviews for a reason.
Courteous, safety conscious staff even before Abbott redeaux. GREAT latte!
I liked the atmosphere and vibe of coffee shop. I often go to coffee shops to work. This is now on my go-to coffee places, and not just for work---- coffee and service was great!
I love this place, excellent food & service. The service here is great. Prices were good for how much you get.
Actually the best latte Ive ever had
I always enjoy the coffee when I visit. Today I had the Staghorn latte I believe. A drink off of the seasonal menu. I definitely enjoyed it. Wish it was a permanent drink on the selection of sips.
