I called and left a message for Alan @ Shade Works to call me back about a project for our back patio three weeks ago. Took him over a week to return my call. Once he did, we confirmed a meeting date & time with him over the phone. This week, on Monday, I received a call from his office asking me if I wanted to push back the meeting due to potential rain, which I declined and said we can still meet inside the house or under our covered patio to discuss our project. The lady who called me agreed and we kept the meeting on the calendar.The appointment was for 1pm today (Wednesday), for which I just received a call from Alan saying he wasnt paying attention to the time and hasnt left his house and it would be nearly an hour before he could be at my house.There is a clear lack of professionalism and customer service with this small company. I cannot recommend working with them.*reply to Alans response to my review*While I appreciate Alans response, the reality is he had multiple opportunities to handle each future interaction with professionalism and customer service in mind. His first opportunity was after the untimely returned call to try and give him our business. His second opportunity was after his office tried to reschedule and both parties agreed to keep the time/date of the meeting.This isnt about being perfect. This is about just doing what you say youre going to do. It wasnt just yesterday that was in question, but a culmination of events over the past 3 weeks that defined your actions. Dont try to boil it down to simply one miss of the clock for todays meeting.

The company provides excellent sales, service, product and installation. We are extremely happy with the courteous and responsive customer service all around. We give our highest recommendation.

We used Shade Works of Texas for shades on both of our porches and couldnt be happier! They are very professional and responded quickly to our quote request. I would highly recommend them! !

We used Shadeworks for our outdoor patio. They are wonderful. The sales person was very responsive and they had the best price around. The installation guys were prompt and professional.The shades are a great addition. We love them.

We just had our roller shades installed. Alan was very helpful and responsive. They did a great job on our main roller shade and added fixed shades for opened areas around our patio columns.I did have to do some follow-up with the initial install as well as the fixed shades that followed. They also had to re-do some of the finished woodwork as it didn’t match the stain for our patio. But they were very understanding and kept at it to do the job right.We are so appreciative and love our roller shade. It has been so helpful with the crazy weather and our dogs during those days. We have used our patio area almost every day!

We have had our shades now for over a year & a half, & we continue to love them! They are fabulous in the summer keeping out the sun & the mosquitos, & also keeping the sun in check during winter when the sun is lower on the horizon. Alan & his team were extremely professional, easy-going, & helped us with all questions & made suggestions based on our needs. Representative showed up when promised to discuss my project. Shade options and installation issues were discussed and agreed to. Installation took place several months later on the agreed upon date without any issues (had to wait for factory to produce unit and I ordered in prime time). Since unit was installed early last fall, we havent had a chance to use it yet but a test run last week went without a hitch. Price was fair and competitive. Looks great. Nice neat installation.

Our back porch faces the afternoon sun and is brutal! After our shades were installed, we noticed a considerable difference in the reduction of the heat and blindness! They are very attractive and keep the porch a very cozy temperature. Its amazing how much wind they block and how much privacy they provide, yet we can still enjoy the view of our backyard. We are extremely happy with our purchase! So happy, in fact, we are considering installing one on another side of the porch. Alan helped us choose a beautiful color that is very complimentary to our brick and trim. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and made the entire process a pleasure. Wouldnt it be nice of all businesses operated at this standard!

Shade Works recommends and installs high quality products; worked directly with owner/operator on selection. Installation team was professional and concerned about my satisfaction. Initial challenges with all the necessary parts did require multiple visits to complete, but Robert (site mgr) was highly conscientious and did an excellent job routing to internal power through the eaves. Solid job, highest recommendation.

Alan is fabulous! He conducted the sales appointment AND provided the installation himself. He was exceptionally personable and knowledgeable, called ahead to confirm, showed up on time, and did a first-rate job! Best of all, their pricing was the best I found, after shopping around extensively. He beat the competition by a large measure. HIGHLY recommend and would use again in an instant.

Shade Works installed remote control shades to eliminate glare on our television. They did an amazing job with the installation process and the clean up. Alan and his team are very professional and easy to work with. We are ready to contact them again for a shade in a different area of our home.Great job. Alan was wonderful. He even came over on a Saturday morning, sat on the back patio with us, and explained everything thoroughly. He did not pressure us at all, but his professionalism and genuine personality made it easy for us to choose Shade Works. We cancelled other appointments with other shade companies and couldnt be happier. He was also present for installation to ensure everything was done properly - that is rare and makes all the difference in the world! Our backyard is now complete; we spend every spare moment out there thanks to Alan. Thanks again :)

Alan and crew were great. We discussed several options and materials. Installation was on time and nicely done.

The estimation was reasonable for a simple fix (to replace an old part). However when we got the bill they wanted $360 because they didnt know how to fix it. They said it was because they spent more time than expected fixing the part. As far as Im concerned why am I supposed to pay for someones else inexperience. GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY IF YOUR WINDOW IS NOT WORKING. This company is a ripoff!! We agreed on a price then they make you pay way more.

We were very pleased with SWOT. They did an excellent installation job, even matching the paint where they had to cut into trim boards. I highly recommend these guys.

Not happy at all with this company. We just moved into a home and set up an appointment for them to set up automated blinds in our home. They never gave us a set time they were going to come, then called and canceled on us. They told us it would take a whole other week for them to come out so we waited. Just got a call now of them canceling again. Very disappointed, won’t be reaching out to them again.

Shade Works of Texas committed to repair our shade onsite. Their repair guys not only couldnt do the work as promised, but they dropped our shade and broke a part on it. They committed to come back and fix it, but weve heard nothing but excuses since then. They couldnt find the phone number and left a message but it mustve been the wrong number and will call by noon on Saturday but never did. Weve found another company who will repair the shade for $600. Weve called Allan and Tricia three times to give them an opportunity to do the right thing. No response. We do not recommend this company.

Alan is extremely professional, and reasonable. The product works great and did a great job of installing it. I would highly recommend Alan and his company to anyone.

We really appreciate the great job that these folks did installing the retractable solar shades on our covered patio. It has been a couple of years since they put them in and we continue to reap benefits we hadn’t anticipated. In addition to blocking the hot sunlight, they do a great job of blocking the never-ending wind and rain we have been having. And, aside from a stray moth or two, they keep out the mosquitos, june bugs and wasps. Am really glad that we went with the full enclosure concept! If we had it to do all over again, we would have done it sooner.

Just wanted to say we love our shades, we purchased one back in the spring and loved it so much we purchased a second one. Cant say enough about Alan and his crew a joy to work with.

Our experience with Shade Works of Texas started out great, but quickly deteriorated. We will never use Shade Works of Texas anymore, and will never recommend this company.We contracted with Shade Works of Texas to install automatic roll down shades in our Outdoor Kitchen. Alan Gruzins personally came by our house and we told him our expectation was to get full enclosure of the outdoor kitchen to protect us from the sun, bugs and mosquitos.The challenge was the stones around the columns; these would prevent the shades from going all the way to the floor. To solve this problem, we opted to have Shade Works of Texas remove all the stone work around each column, install the tracks and then rebuild the stones around each column. Rebuilding the stones included the construction of a “pony wall” on one small section to make sure we get complete enclosure when the shades are pulled down completely.In the beginning, Alan was very good at answering or promptly returning phone calls or text messages. But once we gave him the deposit, it took multiple phone calls and follow-up text messages to get a response from him. He quoted a price of $500.00 for a spare Somfy Telis remote control; I told him that the same remote control can be found on the web at significantly less than $200.00. He blamed it on the manufacturer for giving him the wrong info. At this time, we began to lose the trust we had with Alan.The shades arrived much earlier than promised and installation was done; however, in several areas there are significant gaps between the shades and the floors. Alan told us that was because the floors are not level, and we paid him the remaining balance with the promise that the extra remote control we requested will be delivered and his folks will come back to re-program both remote controls plus a paint touch-up on some scratches made on one of the frames during installation.We didn’t realize that he could have used a 2-inch inserts at the bottom of the shades, instead of the extremely small inserts he used. It wasn’t until his worker came to re-program the remote controls that we realized that there was an option to use the 2-inch inserts in mitigating the substantial gaps at the bottom of several shades, including the “pony wall” he built. We had a total of seven (7) automatic pull-down shades installed, and almost all of them have gaping gaps at the bottom, so we are not getting the full enclosure we contracted for. His worker agreed that the gaps are significant and if we liked the 2-inch inserts, they can swap them out and that they do that all the time. We requested samples to be sure we would like that option. After numerous phone calls and text messages, a sample was finally delivered. We agreed to the swap, but after numerous phone calls and text messages, Alan finally responded to ask for more money. We told him absolutely no more money will be spent by us on this project that we’ve already paid for.We are left with less than what we contracted for as we are not getting full enclosures when the shades are pulled down, and the scratches they left on the frames during installation have not been remedied.We will never use this company anymore and WILL NEVER recommend them. Once Alan gets your money, all bets are off and he is very slow to respond to phone calls or return text messages. We will be happy to let anyone come see the result of his work, which is not what we contracted for.
